Nice hotel just outside the tiny quaint town of Yunomine onsen.

Service is good and staff are friendly. Most can speak a decent command of English. Onsen area are split into private and public. The public onsen pools have both outdoor and indoor areas.

Stayed here after hiking the Kumano Kodo. It's a decent hotel/ryokan. A bit on the older side, but nothing that made the stay unenjoyable. We had a wonderful dinner. They have older private/family onsen that could probably use some work. The public ones were large and clean. The public ones are open to the general public until 5PM, after that it's closed to guests only. Tattoos are ok.

Great place! Traditional style hotel with onsen and great food. Also addapted for vegan and kosher! It could not be better.

I need more than 5 stars! Such high quality with everything! Rooms, service, food, onsen, views, surrounding countryside. The best of the best. I have never been anywhere more perfect!

Don't judge this traditional Japanese ryokan by its exterior. Staff and service are superb, food prepared for you are above and beyond in quality and the hot springs itself is extremely satisfying. They also work the water into drinkable water as well as ingredient for their dishes.

Excellent all round. Good hot baths, comfortable rooms, and an excellent evening meal and breakfast. Evening star-gazing activity laid on for free. Friendly and helpful staff. English understood and spoken by many staff.

After walking 20kms from Chikatsuyu then catching a bus from Hongu to Yuomine, we were kind of shocked to find that the location of our accommodation was about a kilometre walk from the bus stop. After arriving we checked in and spoke to concierge (who was extreme helpful with additional information about Kumando Kodo) we were taken to our room. The rooms are great; very spacious and comfortable, with a lovely view from the windows. The extra facilities which are offered are great, a free pool table and massage chair. As well as paid karaoke rooms and table tennis. Because we arrived quite late, the only restaurant in town had closed as well as the kitchen in Yuominesou. After speaking to our concierge, he opened up the souvenir shop and allowed us to buy snacks and instant ramen (which he cooked for us himself as well as extra rice and tea). He was a godsend, we were very hungry from our walk and needed sustenance. The traditional Japanese breakfast the next morning was great as well, a big range of food which was very satisfying and delicious. The onsen was beautiful with outside pools and an indoor mineral pool, very relaxing. Overall the accommodation is brilliant, the food superb, and the service incredible. And there is "doggies"
