I don’t normally write reviews. However I had to — for this fabulous hotel. I simply cannot fathom the bad reviews. I booked, was then apprehensive when I read some negative reviews.

The highlight of 2.5 weeks in Japan. From start to finish, very welcoming staff. Room 209 was spacious and just modern enough. Highlight was the bathroom with shower and soaking tub.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The rooms were nice, spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was the third country, after the United States and China, where I have stayed at a property under the Discovery alliance, and my very first time in Japan.

This hotel was a highlight of our Kyoto trip. The staff were genuinely kind and always happy to help, the rooms were beautiful and very comfortable, and the location was ideal for getting around.

We loved our stay here! Our room was the one with the bathtub, it’s totally worth it. The toilet was really cool too!

Totally worth it. Spacious room for a budget-friendly hotel in Japan, beautiful neighborhood, friendly and helpful staff. Bus stop is less than 5 minutes away.

Nice hotel. Own spacy shower room. Has everything you need. Some towels seems dirty, but you can easily get new ones. Nice room size.

Overall, it was a very good experience. The room was spotless, the bathroom spacious, and the multilingual staff were warm and helpful. The river view from our room added a special touch to our stay.

Lovely property, very helpful and polite staff. Location wise very quiet, a bit of a walk to attractions but very pretty area and decent restaurants close.

Rooms are not the biggest but perfect for the 2 of us for 3 nights. Great location, very clean with with everything amenities required for a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend this hotel.

If you just want somewhere smart and clean to sleep, shower and store your little suitcase this place is great. Location excellent: near the sights but only on a moderately busy road. Size: small.

Great hotel at affordable rates. Maybe 20 mins walking distance to Gion and 1 min to Kyoto subway, 10 mins taxi from Kyoto station. Rooms were well appointed and immaculate.

I stayed here, mid November for 6 nights. It was wonderful. Due to jetlag I had to check in a day late. I notified the hotel staff via email and they were very understanding and responsive.

Spacious for 4. Huge beds but they’re the traditional Japanese style so they’re more firm than my American self is used to. Convenient location to the bus station and a 20 minute walk to most other

The hotel is in s great location. It is easy get around by foot or subway.
The front desk is very helpful.
Breakfast in includes and is filling and delicious, it rotates.

A 3-star hotel that feels like 5.
Of course the service is kind and helping, but the amenities, the room, the mattress, the pillow, the private onsen-like bath, the cleanness — 10/10 on everything.

I just checked out from Genji Kyoto today and I already miss it.
If you love architecture and design, you will absolutely fall in love with this hotel.

The hotel is surrounded by plenty of greenery and is located almost directly opposite a national museum.

Overall, I was happy with my experience with this hotel. However, there are some issues that would prevent me from returning or recommending the hotel to solo travelers in the future.

Stayed here on our recent trip to Kyoto and took the suite with the private sauna and large soaking tub. It was wonderful, private, quiet, and spacious.

Pros:
Very comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. The location is convenient, and coffee and tea are available at all times.

Dhawa Yura Kyoto offers a well-composed and consistently positive stay. The hotel combines a modern, understated design with a calm atmosphere that feels appropriate for Kyoto.
