This is an awesome place to stay, not only because the cave house is great in all ways, but the Host made our stay absolutely memorable!
First the place: it’s a beautiful home, very lovely done up and extremely comfortable! The home is well stocked with drinks, snacks and a freshly baked (and absolutely delicious) focaccia were all provided free! It is very obvious the host give great pride to the home and experience as it’s a home that is owned by the family for many years! We had a fantastic stay and slept so well over the two nights!
Now on to the host! It was clear that he loved Matera to the bones as he was born and raised there. We were totally surprised but not only did he recommended some fabulous restaurants to us, he also ferried us to these restaurants and had the owner take good care of us! More incredibly, he actually took us during the day, in his car, and around town to all the places to get the best views! All of these at his generosity of time and no cost! You can tell he genuinely wants his guest to love Matera and see it from the eyes of a local!
We love this place and the host and if you are ever hesitating if this is the right place, DON’T!
