Can't recommend The club house hotel Enough! From start to finish the staff took excellent care of us as a group of 6 we can't wait to return to kilkenny and stay here again! The rooms were small but immaculate not too hot. Walking distance from town and very reasonable price. The breakfast here is just beautiful gluten free and vegetarian also catered for. Dinner is second to none the food is just delicious and Selina who served us is great craic.
Caroline who looked after us for breakfast gave us great information as to what shops we should visit and what was open. Shane looked after us in the bar both nights we had great fun with him. Liz who checked us in is an absolute character and Ian who runs the hotel went above and beyond for us. Highly recommended for couples or groups. See ye again all in the clubhouse hotel!

The staff and food was amazing, friendly, highly recommended. Very central, walking distance of castle and shops. The rooms were just ok. Will visit again👍

I was in this evening with my daughter Candice for dinner and where do I start?
From the second we arrived, it was the very best of service all the way. We were served by Dave and what a lovely man, very helpful, with outstanding manners and very courteous. Very friendly and funny, great to chat with all the customers. (Give him a raise) Food was to die for, very nice and tasty with very generous portions, especially the Orange and Chocolate cheesecake.
Forget 5 star ratings here because 10 stars would be more like it.
Take a big bow Ian and staff, keep up the great work because your a credit to Kilkenny.

Just back from a four day trip. Could not fault hotel at all. Lovely food, friendly and helpful staff. Would definately recommend and will be back.

Definitely so much more than the big chains. I loved it.
It didn’t look like what I was used to but it was fabulous. All the history on the walls was amazing.
The food was the best I’ve ever had and the staff are to be so highly complemented. They were the best fun ever. This is now our new haunt and can not wait to go back next year.

Lovely friendly service, Shane was very attentive. Delicious vegetarian irish breakfast. Free range eggs were delicious. Gluten free irish brekkie brilliant. Simple room but very clean. Very happy with stay.

Just back from a weekend away in the Club House Kilkenny. Had the most amazing weekend. Staff were so helpful from check in to check out. Six of us stayed two nights and ate in the hotel both nights. Out of the 12 meals that was put up to us there was not one complaint. (The duck to me was the highlight) Had breakfast both mornings and the staff constantly came with fresh coffee and toast. Food was top notch. Would recommend this hotel 100% for anyone staying in Kilkenny. Such a central location with free parking. We will definitely stay again. Thanks so much. Your staff is a credit to your hotel ❤️❤️

Rooms smelt very musty, the bathroom shower had pieces missing from the floor. In all this hotel could do with a good renovation. However the staff were lovely and very friendly.

Had a 70th birthday party for my Mum we had our own room. Food and service was great and super value for money. Really understanding with kids. Thanks so much.

We were in there today for a family dinner the food and service was excellent and to top it off Santa came in and gave presents to the kids thank you santa and all the staff in the clubhouse.

We are here today with the Glenmore golden club lovely atmosphere lovely food and lovely staff.

Good customer service and lovely soft back ground music. Clean lovely fire place. I would recommend spending a night there.

I loved the staff! They were all exceptionally friendly and helpful and definitely go out of their way to make you feel comfortable! Also, the dinner downstairs is to die for and we were fortunate enough to be there on Tuesday night when they had their 14 PIECE BAND play! It was amazing and so much fun! Such an unexpected and pleasant surprise! Definitely recommend and the breakfast is a must!

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend. It's a filthy health hazard. The bathroom is filthy and the shower is full of mould this has caused me a major flare up of my asthma. I complained to the reception staff on Sunday morning. They left a note for the manager to call me Monday morning. He didn't bother to call so I did. I was told I would get a call today. He didn't bother to call so I called again. I was told today he wasn't there and probably won't be there tomorrow. Very rude and bad customer service. I would not recommend this hotel to a dog let alone people. Photos of bathroom and dusty bedroom enclosed.

I visited the club house recently for the John Needs Pembro breakfast. I was super impressed with how attentive and efficient the staff were, especially on such a busy morning. Breakfast was quick and really tasty too. Huge credit to all at The Club House, would definitely recommend a visit to others.

Had a very nice meal in Victors Restaurant which is attached to the hotel, very quiet. Staff friendly and attentive.

Quaint hotel in the heart of Kilkenny. Superbly located, friendly staff. On the downside not for anyone with mobility issues, parking can be an issue.

Noisy street, until 5 am. Bed too soft and crooked, impossible to sleep face down or sideways.

My room had no A/C and faced a main street, so I had to keep the window open and could not sleep for the noise. The beds were soft and uncomfortable.

Good breakfast and bar food. Staff pleasant and obliging. Bedroom cleaning not very good. While bed linen was clean and fresh there was dust and cobwebs in the room as well as hairs in and around the shower/bath. We had to request a room change twice and still had to avoid using the shower.

I cannot thank The Club House Hotel enough for making my Mams 70th Birthday Party so special on March 4th 2018. Ian and the staff could not of been nicer to work with — being a Photographer you get to meet allot of staff in allot of hotels and you seriously could not meet nicer. To say my Mam was surprised is an understatement — she is still speaking about it today and all the family and her friends are ringing all day congratulating her on how amazing the food was — the venue — and the entertainment also — thank you so much.

Loved the hotel. Staff were great and super helpful. The Wi-Fi was poor in the rooms but at reception it was great. There’s a lot of stairs so it you have heavy luggage, just take note of it.

On first impressions the hotel was a touch dingey, the paint on the outside could be retouched. Our room was up about 4 flights of stairs. The room itself was lovely, spacious and warm the ensuite was large and clean. Breakfast was included. Only concern would be it's not wheelchair accessible due to the vast amount of stairs. I didn't see a lift.

Yes, it's vintage but this is exactly where I want to stay while in Kilkenny. Victor's bar is perfect and the food is fantastic. Say hi to Oliver, the night porter and late night bartender.

Definitely basic. Very clean and comfortable though, the staff were brilliant and did everything to make our stay enjoyable they would get 5 stars from me.

I stayed one night in this hotel and would not recommend to anyone. The rooms were dated and dirty, the hotel would be advised to spend some money and get the rooms up to a standard that reflects the cost per night, in my opinion 180 euro was not worth the standard. The dining area was neat, breakfast and staff was perfect. The location was ideal, probably the best part. Would I stay in this hotel again NO.

My husband and I decided to stay for one night away. The hotel it's self is very dated, after hiking to our first room with the amout of stairs we had to go up and down our room was cold and in bad need of a revamp. The ladies on reception were lovely when asked if they had an other room. I was offered a smaller but slightly warmer room. This room again was in badly need of a good clean and revamp might be a good idea to purchase new bedding such as pillows, the ones on our bed had seen better days. The dining area for breakfast was neat and the staff and breakfast perfect. Would I recommend this hotel for a stay definitely not, wasn't worth the money we paid. Joan.

Very gracious staff/hosts! Made sandwiches for us because we were heading out early and would miss the scheduled breakfast. Very convenient location and parking. Very pleasant stay!

Mixed feelings about this hotel. It's in a great location in the centre of town with free parking. It's a quirky old building. The dining room is lovely and the breakfast was good. Our room was in the annex at the back and quite frankly hadn't seen a duster for a long time! The bath was rusty and the room needed a bit of tlc. We don't mind old and quirky or shabby chic but we do like clean!

Love this little hotel! Free and awesome breakfast included. It's not fancy but it's nice for quick trips when you come to explore the town. I would definitely stay here again. Walkable to everything super friendly staff!

The only thing going for this place is location being in the centre makes it very walkable to a lot of attractions. It is a shame because the building has great character of a period building but this hotel has had many years of neglect and shabby upkeep that has thrown it by the wayside. Hotel parking is good and staff are friendly and accommodating but thats about it. The place is shabby, not kept well and rooms even a little bit dirty (not cleaned well) Not worth the money IMHO. Expedia should read this review because apparently they don't have a clue.

Wasn't impressed at all very disappointed when entered into lobby needs a complete make over very dirty and shabby staff were friendly rooms smelled of damp and mildew on walls and around Windows bar was lovely food was lovely breakfast needed a chain saw to get through the the bacon the whole hotel needs a make over would not recommend this hotel.

The room was basic. But nice and warm, water was nice and warm at all times, the beds were comfortable enough. Only one flat pillow on each bed which was a little uncomfortable. There wasn't a great supply of towels and they were small and hard. The reception staff were lovely and helpful! The hotel is right in the town with ample car parking. It was a trek to get the room when in the hotel. My first issue was the expense for what you get. In other hotels for twenty euro more you would have luxury, a spa, deluxe breakfast and a jacuzzi. The second issue was the basic breakfast. There was supposedly a continental breakfast (cereal and cheap yoghurts). It was obvious there was cost saving measures going on, but in my opinion 4 ineffective serving staff is contradictory to that cost saving measure. I would rather help myself to decent food. The fry looked nice but my poached eggs were undercooked (the white was undercooked). I asked for brown bread and was handed a basket with toast and two tiny pieces of stale soda bread… The coffee was stale and serving staff were idle. All serving staff were courteous but only two of them appeared to be doing any work. I spilled my tea because the teapot was broken and I had to get a replacement napkin myself. I got a dirty look but no assistance. We had to chase somebody to get a coffee refill even though they were standing there idle.

The ClubHouse Hotel, Kilkenny, needs its interior and exterior to be brought into the 21st century — It's quite tired and shabby. Dining Wise: Food was Good, and Good hearty portions which is appreciated. The only qualms about dining here is; depending on where one is seated, it can be quite crammed and there is poor separation between other diners. And there were also, flies given free-reign of the dining room, which is a health and hygiene hazard — I only hope the kitchens were free of flies! The staff may not care about insects buzzing around, but it is unsanitary and gives a very bad impression of an establishment, implying it is not very clean. It spoils the dining experience when one is constantly pestered by, and having to protect one's meal from insects. Perhaps the doors and windows should not be left gaping open, to prevent flies getting in. Also there are special, and elegant insect-preventing screens for windows, and doors which any establishment preparing, and serving food should have. All in all, a lot of room for improvement interior-wise.

Room was small and crowed. Every seems cheaply done an very tacky. I felt unsafe and feared for my safety after seeing exposed pipes and wiring (some of the wires had been whatever they had been hooked up to removed and the wires left dangling) we also had no hot water at all during our stay and our TV didn't work at all! I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY FROM THIS DEATHTRAP.

Friendly staff and good food. Everything is a little old, but that's quite charming. The only negativ thing was, that the bathroom was not totally clean. But it was ok.

We got a christmas gift of 2ngts b&b and rang to enquire for st patricks night, never thinking they would take us. We were delighted. arrived on st pats day abt 2 and got some of the parade. the hotel is in great location and the little car park at the back is brill. i had read the reviews and expected a "faulty towers" experience, far from it, its a little old world but apart from that its great, staff were lovely and food was good, I left my internet device in the room and it arrived in the post the next day. Thanks for a great service and we will be back there again.

We stayed in the club house hotel last week for to nights good value but the meal we had in the evening was cold we had to send it back it just was not wright even when they gave it to us again over all good.

Our first impression on entering the hotel lobby was of a peculiar, unpleasant smell which we could not define. We didn't mind the fact that there was no lift but no one offered to carry our luggage to our room. It would have been nice to have been given the offer. The carpet in our room was dirty (heavily stained) and the shower unit was not the cleanest I have seen. The beds were very comfortable but there were only four terrestrial TV channels available when I turned the TV on. The bedroom was very small for two people. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant but the two breakfasts we had were fairly good (a limited cereal option). Waiting staff were very friendly and obliged as best they could. Tea was presented in a pot but coffee was served to you which meant a wait for it while you wanted it to continue with your breakfast. Can we have coffee in pots as well? The big downside though for me was to be woken up at 4.00am on Saturday morning by a group of residents who decided to have a loud half hour conversation right under our first floor window. It was too humid to close our window. I would have thought someone from the hotel would have urged them on! This hotel is in a great location and the car park is within easy distance of the hotel. Posting directions to the car park on the hotel website would have helped expedite our arrival as the rain teemed down. If you want a place just to throw your head down and enjoy Kilkenny's nightlife then this is a great location.
