Bhumi Kasuryan Bhumi Kasuryan Borobudur

We stayed at Bhumi Kasuryan for three nights and the place is a great base to see the three UNESCO sites in the area. The hotel is delightfully rural surrounded by rice fields and so quiet despite it being only a short distance from the village centre. There are great views all around including Borobudur temple from the hotel. We stayed in two separate rooms during our stay, both were spacious and comfortable. Although the design is simple, everywhere is really clean and the beds and pillows in particular were among the most comfortable of our entire South East Asia trip.
Breakfast is plentiful and consisted of fresh fruit, delicious omelettes (or fried eggs as an alternative) toast and coffee/tea plus a few local delicacies. They don’t really do food in the evening but are happy to recommend local restaurants. There are lots of quiet country roads nearby, perfect for the complimentary pedal bikes which are free to use. It is noticeable just how friendly local people are as you walk or ride bikes exploring the local area, most tourists seem to travel in rather than staying in the locally and we encountered almost no westerners during our stay in Borobudur other than at the temple itself. The hosts are also lovely people, keen to make your holiday the best it an be.

Despite having read all the reviews which consistently scored this hotel very highly – I approached this hotel with some trepidation not believing I could have the same experience as described for the cost of the accommodation – 1.5 million INR for 2 nights.
After our experiences there should be no worries.
We arrived after a transfer from Kutoarjo and enquired about lunch – an excellent soup was freshly made and cold beer was supplied and appreciated – we decided after that to have all our meals here – 2 dinners from a simple menu discussed beforehand – the price varied on the size of the meal – 100, 000 IDR each for a “large” meal – 50, 000 IDR for smaller portions — decent breakfasts – a supply of large cold bottles of Bintang.
The room was basically furnished – clean and functional – comfy bed – aircon – small bathroom – shower — acceptable and always hot – large patio doors leading to a small terrace leading directly into a rice paddy about 3 feet below with views of the mountains beyond.
The dining area is under cover again with views across the rice paddies to the mountains beyond with the tops of the nearby Borobudur Temple complex peaking above the trees.
The hotel is located on a quiet road about a 20-minute walk to the “centre” and the gates to the Temple.

Bhumi Kasuryan is one of those places that cannot be forgotten. Located in Mageland in the middle of a rice fields, this small hotel is a hidden charm, starting with room decoration and ending with the breathtaking views of the Merapi volcano from the back terrace of my room and Borobudur temple from the restaurant. And the staff along with the owner, are marvelous people who help me in any possible way to make my short trip memorable. The owner was able to combinate the colonial Indonesia style with the comfort of the modern world masterly. Food is well cooked and using fresh ingredients.
There is a boutique inside of the hotel with owner’s own designs.
I wish I ‘d have been able to stay longer.

It was an amazing experience to be able to stay in this homestay. The view was amazing, looking out at rice fields. The food was great and it gotten better with the service which is great. Staffs were respectful and friendly. Overall, it's a 10/10 for sure.

The room is comfortable and spacious. The front view directly faces the rice fields and the top of Borobudur Temple. There is a spacious pavilion that is perfect for breakfast in the morning with beautiful air, while in the afternoon, I saw a very beautiful sunset. Very good service from the staff, friendly, and very helpful. There is a terrace in the room that directly faces the rice fields so it is a very suitable place to sunbathe in the morning. There are only 4 rooms so the atmosphere is not too crowded and noisy making it a comfortable place to calm down. Breakfast food offers traditional and western food, with complementary fruit and traditional snacks. Staying here is a pleasant and relaxing experience, love it!

Excellent experience! I was booked one night only, coming from Yakarta to Jogya to spend the day at Borobudur, and with a view to get back to Tugu. On arrival, I was greeted by the super friendly owner, and shown my room. It was late in the day, as I had come via Damri minivan, and had walked from the station. A nice strong coffee, overlooking the field, and the silhouette of Borobudur in the distance, was really relaxing.
The room was perfect. Strong aircon, comfy bed with lovely pillows and with mosquito net (did not see any at this time), very hot and powerful shower. A couple of bottles of water provided. Outside, all you can hear is the water fountain… Lovely.
You are about 15 mins walk from Borobudur entrance, and several places to eat. In Indonesia, you never seem to be far from food… You can also potter around the accommodation and see a Buddhist school, some fields, etc.
I was feeling so relaxed that preferred to stay here another day rather than go straight back to Jogya following the visit to Borobudur. I just arranged transport to train station with the owner, in the aircon minivan.
I had indonesian breakfast both days, once was noodle soup and fruit, the other fried rice with fruit and sweet cakes. Both times lovely.
To sum up, just excellent!.

The night veiled our arrival at Bhumi Kasuryan, a rustic haven cloaked in darkness. Yet, dawn unveiled a spectacle — our balcony transformed into a viewing platform overlooking emerald paddy fields bathed in the golden hues of sunrise. Wispy figures of farmers emerged, their movements echoing a timeless dance with the land. A perfect start to our sojourn at Bhumi Kasuryan.

Amazingly beautiful place to stay with lovely staff! Location near Borobudur is an asset, you even have a view at the Borobudur. Lovely decorated room, as is the whole place. Breakfast up to your choice and served when you liked it, same goes for the lovely dinner. The best thing however is the very attentive staff who were happy to help you with anything at all. Hospitality at its best 👌🏼

The quiet and beautiful environment makes us feel more relaxed and can release stress from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, offering beautiful natural scenery with sunrise and sunset views that can be enjoyed from one place, not only that we can also see the beautiful Borobudur clearly. In this place you will feel an experience that is hard to forget.

Less of a homestay, more of a luxury hotel! The room was big, comfortable, beautifully decorated and clean. The service was amazing with tea or coffee offered every time they saw us and the hosts were lovely and welcoming who prepared amazing food — dinner if requested (was delicious) and breakfast each morning with a wide variety of either local or western cuisine accompanied by delicious fresh fruit. The best part was the gorgeous dining area over looking not only the rice fields with an impeccable sunset view, but an unobstructed glimpse of the top of the temple itself! The location is great, walking distance to everywhere you need to be while being quiet and away from the busyness. They also provide push bikes for use to do some further exploring through the villages. We’d stay here again!
