Maher House Borobudur

We have been in Indonesia for three weeks now and this has been the best stay so far. Welcoming, warm and so kind family. And the room is just absolutely amazing. Clean, comfy and great location. Delicious breakfast. Thank you for those beautiful moments. Love from Jiri and Simona. ♥️

+Stayed for 2 nights at this home stay while visiting Borobudur Temple. Located near to the temple and given a courtesy motorbike ride to the entrance.
+Good value for the money and I would stay again.
+Quiet, comfortable, clean basic small room with lots of natural window lighting. At night plenty of lights in room including the bathroom.
+Good water pressure in shower with hot water.
+Comfortable bed.
+Plenty of outlets throughout the room. No kettle or refrigerator, but hot and cold water dispenser available in common area.
+Friendly, helpful owners.
+Delicious breakfast in main house but can eat outside of your room also.
+Quiet room and nice private covered sitting area outside of room with chairs and cafe table.
+Close to city center with many eating options.
+Indomart not too far away.
+Able to arrange transportation to other areas for reasonable cost.
-AC is a little slow to cool down the room, but it is eventually able to do so at the coldest setting (the room heats up from the afternoon sun). Night time temperature was fine for sleeping.
-If you don’t like ants it might not be the place for you, but it’s the tropics…there are going to be ants (they just go about their business and I ignore them and don’t give them a reason to bother me…no food crumbs left around)

Great place to stay to explore Borobudur and Borobudur temple. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and tidy with everything you need. The included indonesian breakfast was very nice and a big portion.
They also arranged transport for us to and from Yogyakarta station.

Me and my partner stayed at Maher House for 1 night after visiting Borobudur Temple.
The room was very comfortable and clean and had everything you’d need for a good nights sleep. We also had delicious breakfast made by the owners.
The family running the homestay is incredibly nice and helpful. They organised us a driver to see a sunrise on Puntuk Setumbu and also found us a local driver/guide (Agus) for a day trip to Selogriyo, which was absolutely amazing!
We are so thankful for their help organising the local activities as it has been the highlight of our trip in Java.
The local village is cosy and nice to walk around and has a few local cafes.
I highly recommend this Homestay! Spend a night in Borobudur and explore the beautiful nature around. The owners will help you with getting a driver or can rent you the bikes or car to explore things yourself.

Once you stay here, you won’t want to stay at any other hotel around Borobudur. Here, you'll feel as warm and comfortable as being at home. There's coffee and tea available all day, and the breakfast is simple but delicious. I’ve stayed here twice and will definitely come back again. The service is excellent, the place is very clean, and the owner is always ready to assist you with anything. Plus, there's an adorable cat to welcome you!

Cute guesthouse to stay in Borobudur. The owners are so friendly and willing to help with everything. The rooms are spacious with good AC and bug bathroom with warm water for showers. There's a communal outside balcony area to chill at. Great breakfast provided at your convenience. There's free tea and coffee and a water refill. Only thing is the water refill doesn't have cold water which would have been nice after being outside all day to have cold drinking water.

Perfect place to stay overnight and visit the Borobudur temple in the morning. Very nice host family, well working Wi-Fi, Indonesian breakfast. The temple is within walking distance. Can recommend to anyone!

I'm so grateful to found this place. Cleanliness is crucial when choosing accommodation for our trip. The room and toilet are spotless, the water heater works perfectly, the mattress is comfortable, and the owner is very responsive. The amenities provided include clean towels, water, tissues, shampoo, soap, and slippers. Highly recommended and exceeded our expectations for the price. It's definitely worth it.
We love to come back here if we will have another trip to Magelang.

During my travel through Indonesia, I stayed two times with this wonderful family at their guesthouse. You can basically see the Borobodur from the balcony, however, the surroundings of this village are even more astounding. I absolutely loved it here. They let me use their scooter to explore everything, and even dropped us off at Dieng Plateau for our next destination. Thank you very much, and all the best from The Netherlands!
