Tourists photograph the old rickety houses on stilts as they cross the bay on Chiloe Island. Look again.

Staying in a Palafito over the water is definitely something to try in Castro.

I don’t write reviews as much as I should, but I had to make sure to leave 5 stars for this hotel. Online, the pictures are beautiful but don’t do this place justice.

A lovely hideaway with amazing rooms and a birdwatcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. True Chilote hospitality!

We had an excellent stay. The cabins have their own private beach and the views are incredible. The cabins are just a few minutes from town but they seem far away because there is no noise or people.

Definitely a recommendation! Best host so far after 7 weeks of traveling, really cares about guests and good vibes in the hostel.

I recently spent a few days at Hostal Torre de Babel, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The location is perfect, offering easy access to everything you need.

This is a really comfortable place to stay at a really reasonable price. Millah does a nice job of mixing up what she serves for breakfast.

Staying at Allegra's B&B was a very positive experience overall; the room was very big and with a comfortable bed, including a bed heather device and a good mixed breakfast (you are asked every day

I had such a nice stay here, Marcus and his wife Fran were incredible hosts with wonderful recommendations for hiking, sight seeing, iglesias, restaurants, and more.

I had an incredible stay at the Refugio Ballena Hostel. Marco and Fran are a lovely duo, full of energy and smiles, who are eager to share both their home and island.

This place is a lot of fun.

One of my favorite hotels in town. Incredibly nice palafito vibes with stunning tidal water views. The large room under the roof is amazing!

Beautiful hotel and extremely friendly staff. Within a natural forest, we stayed here longer than we had planed as it is so relaxing. The dinning room is gorgeous.

We stayed for 4 nights, 2 nights in room 12 and 2 in Bosque.

Overall, we really liked the palafitos themselves but the location is bad. Lots of loud noise with constant cars and trucks driving by, dogs barking and community parties,

This place is amazing, feels like an enchanted place on the sunrise. Overall you may love it. Take in account that not all rooms have the best view.

Hotel de Castro is an iconic building — very 60s modernist, very Chilote in its own way. Rooms in th new wing are genuinely great: Big windows, lots of light, and a full, cinematic view of the bay.

We felt welcome from the moment we stepped into the hotel. This is the kind of place where everything just works perfectly.

Staying at the Palafito hostel was an excellent introduction to the Chiloe Islands. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great with fresh bread every morning of our stay.

I stayed with my family, we had a great hospitality experience at the palafito. Comfortable rooms, beds, pillows. Room with an amazing view, always warm and cosy.
