Hotel de Castro

We felt welcome from the moment we stepped into the hotel. This is the kind of place where everything just works perfectly. The breakfast was delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and offered a great variety. The rooms were warm 24/7—never too hot or too cold, just perfect (which most hotels struggle to achieve). The pool was at the ideal temperature, and the restaurant was amazing.
What truly makes this place special is the wonderful staff—attentive, full of goodwill, and always paying attention to the little details that make a difference. You won’t find a better deal for your money—this is the place to stay!

Comfortable place, very kind people and very clean. Rooms have a great space and beds are perfect. Centric but quiet. The restaurant was pretty good and the bar is perfect for the nights. Easy access from the main roads and highways, also excellent connectivity!

I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions over the years, both on business and with my family. It's one of my favorites. The building itself is architectually stunning, one of a kind, and by far one of the finest modern structures in the Region of Los Lagos. It's the kind of place that feels both luxurious and homey, a period piece with a variety of comfortable and open common spaces that command breathtaking views of Castro sound. That it has an excellent breakfast and a functioning sauna, heated pool, and outstanding breakfast are the icing on the cake that keep me coming back every time.

There really was a lot to like about the amenities of the hotel and its location. It’s close to the plaza, the bar and restaurant were excellent, as was the breakfast.
However, what makes or breaks a hotel is the quality of their rooms. The bed was very old and worn. The way it sat on the frame (which was a bit wobbly and moved) made the bed sit on an incline — your head was lower than your feet. It was uncomfortable to say the least to sleep.
Additionally, the distance between the end of the bed and the wall was about six inches, which made it incredibly difficult to walk to the other side of the room. The bed also fit more than 3/4 of the floor space in the room.
There was also no air conditioning. This made the room incredibly warm until later at night. To get any air, there was a single window, but my room happened to be above a gathering space, so I could hear conversations until later in the evening. I had to sleep on top of the covers for most of my trip.
Lastly, the bathroom was incredibly small as well.
Even with all these issues, you could tell the hotel staff was trying to give great service, which didn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated. And local travelers seemed to be very content with the arrangements. If you are a tourist from Europe or the USA, you might be disappointed in the quality.
