Refugio Pullao

This hotel was a little paradise in the middle of nowhere, we loved the views, the birds, the local food served in the hotel, the friendliness of the manager of the hotel, the location of our house on the hill… everything was perfect, we will come back again if we come back to Chile!

This place is simply wonderful. Though only a few miles from the main road, you feel like you are very far away from everything. The rooms are very beautiful, with huge windows facing the bay. A short walk takes you to the bay where you can watch birds, wander a bit along the marsh, or simply sit and enjoy the quiet.
The food in the restaurant was very good and the views from the dining room are as nice as those from the rooms. Breakfast is great — excellent coffee, homemade granola and yoghurt, delicious bread as well as the standard cheese and meats. And lots of fruit and homemade fruit juices that change each day.
The staff — Dora and Felipe and Kevin — are very welcoming and answer all questions.
During my two weeks in Chile, this was easily — by far — my favourite stay.
I have to return to Chiloé in the future for work and I will definitely be staying here!

One of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. Incredible views with stunning birds all around. The rooms and lodge are cozy, full of natural light. Dora the host was so helpful and able to communicate with us in English. She is also an incredible cook. Make sure you order dinner during your stay!

My family (2 adults and a 4 year old) had a lovely stay at this cabin — it was a highlight of our trip to Chile. The home is spacious and cozy, with stunning views and high quality linens.
Carlos' team (Paulina + Dora) were amazing hosts — proactive, kind, and always ready to help, even with the little things. When we arrived home each day, a cozy fire was crackling. They noticed my daughter loved the fresh juice at breakfast, so they packed extra in a to-go bottle for her.
Don't miss the gorgeous breakfasts and dinners on offer; it was some of the best food we had in Chile.
Note: the cabin is up a steep track. We are city dwellers who don't often drive, so if we had not arrived with a driver in a 4x4, this might have been a challenge. Relatedly, it is a 5-7 minute (beautiful, downhill) walk to the main lodge, but the team was always available via Messenger for assistance, and to drive those with mobility challenges / tired legs back up the hill.
All in all, I think this rivals a more "famous" luxury accommodation in Chiloe which you can see across the way from Pullao's property — give it a try!

This is beautiful place to stay in Chiloe. 6 rooms overlooking the bay, that are architecturally stunning. My family of 4 stayed in the family room and it was perfect.
We had dinner one night and breakfast both mornings — the food and presentation was amazing. The sun filled our room in the.
Morning, and it made my morning coffee delightful while I watched and listened to rhe birds and wildlife.
Paulina and Dora were warm and friendly and made our stay wonderful. They had great recommendations for places to see in the area and restaurants to try.
It is tucked away high on the ridge and so the road getting in and out is all part of the experience.
If you are looking for something different and memorable, look no further!

I loved this Hotel. It is a small (only 6 rooms) overlooking a bay on Chiloe. The views are astounding and you see a Snowcapped Volcano and The Andes on the mainland. The restaurant and the service are fantastic. The Breakfast was homemade and delicious! It is outside of the town of Castro and the road is rough, but it is worth it! Go slow and you will be rewarded when you arrive.

Spent a day horse riding here and it was amazing. Fabulous hosts and really welcoming. Rooms look great too. If you are planning a trip, come for the horses and birdlife in the area!

We were very lucky because we managed to visit Chiloé when there was a window for non residents to visit the island during covid restrictions.
It was a very surreal experience because there weren't many tourists except for locals from other parts of the island.
Refugio Pullao is one of the most magical places I have visited in Chile, away from civilization (but close enough to Castro), surrounded by amazing landscape and hosted by their extremely accommodating staff.
This hotel will give you the chance to explore nature at its best, starting with the stunning views, their attention to detail on how to blend in with nature and their approach to local food.
Waking up to the sound of nature followed by the views from your room directly to the bay, it simply gives you a boost like no other.
Their staff is simply amazing, they cook everything with locally sourced ingredients and are always there to help make your stay as pleasant as possible.
You can also enjoy horse riding (actually more than that as they have a ranch), relax in their open air hot tub and even try their local lamb barbeque.
If you are planning on visiting Chiloe, look no further and book this place for your entire stay.

We are currently staying at Pullao. The rooms are clean with delightful picture windows. The view is stunning, across mudflats at low tide and water to volcanoes in the distance. The bed is large and comfortable with soft sheets. Each room has a dor to a wooden deck where two people can sit and listen to the birds.
The staff are lovely and very positive about everything. They really make a difference. Breakfast is delicious and the dinner options have been mentioned by others. A fantastic place to sit outside for supper! Its only a 5 minute gravel drive and then paved roads for a few minutes into Castro. If you are in the area and enjoy peace, quiet and comfort, then it is a total no brainer to stay here.

On our 3 weeks driving around Northern Patagonia, we stayed in 9 places and this one was the stand out for design and immediate surroundings. Our room looked out into the bay, with bird-watching hides down the garden. Our hosts were extremely helpful. We would strongly recommend this place, and our only reservation relates to the Isle of Chiloe itself. We had got used to emptiness and quiet, and the amount of traffic on what main roads there are, and in Castro, came as a shock. At least this lodging is in a tranquil setting.
