Just finished up our stay in Tofino and it was perfect from check in to check out! All the staff we encountered were welcoming and friendly. We had a pet friendly room and our dog felt right at home. The room was well cleaned and ready at check in with French Press coffee (cream and sugar provided)! Highly recommend this location!

Loved it! We stayed in the cottage at Hotel Zed Victoria for 2 nights as I was having surgery done in Victoria. Close to many amenities and the staff were fabulous. Highly recommend 🤙

What a great new hotel in tofino! The lobby has all these cool rooms where you can take fun photos, relax or play games. The rooms were so clean and very modern. The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful:) — it is also right by a bird sanctuary with breathtaking sunrises!

Stayed at Hotel Zed Victoria for a medical stay. It was super noisy, ALL night. The fridge would run then the toilet would run and it alternated back and forth. The door to the washroom wouldn't latch close and the front door leaked. Would have been more rested driving to and from Victoria both days than we were after staying.
Had heard great things, but left rather unimpressed.
Upon checking out, staff didn't even look up just asked for the room number and said leave your keys.

Really not impressed with our stay at the kelowna site. From hair and grime in the tub, I left an article of expensive clothing in the bathroom and called 2 hours after we checked out at 830am called at 10ish and they had said they had thrown it out… we live local…

We stayed at ZED hotel Tofino this past weekend and I have to say it’s one of our favourite experiences yet! Not only are they dog friendly and close to chestermans beach but they have a wicked arcade and dance room that are complementary to book during your stay! Definitely booking for our next get away! Thanks to all the amazing friendly staff this weekend!

Came to celebrate my daughter’s 8th birthday. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. They gave us a birthday bundle for the birthday girl which had a bunch of goodies! I would DEFINITELY recommend staying here and will be back again!

Stayed in the Zedstream with my wife and daughter, which whe loved. Awesome place to stay for kids or kids at heart!

Amazing. The pool was open late for my little one. Fast friendly service. Clean room. CHEAP rates! I also forgot a few items in the hotel. UpoN calling the hotel they had my items sent to me immediately. So helpful and kind!

I think my favourite thing about my stay there was trying to get my two teenage boys to try and make a phone call on the rotary phones they have in the rooms

2 weeks stay was very nice! feels like a home away from home. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms and fresh coffee in lobby. A hotel with a personal touch. Would recommend to layed back people.

We stayed in Hotel zed Kelowna for 4 nights last May 31 — June 4 and it was pretty amazing. Our room was cozy and the amenities are superb. Though we dont have time to spend in their pool because we dont have swimsuits and trunks that time but it's really amazing that they have this hot pool amenity. And not to mention, overflowing coffee, teas and hot cocoa and the most wonderful is this… they also have bikes, roller blades and skateboards. Upper scenic view patio at third floor is awesome. How cool is that!
We felt, we're comfortably home.

It's a fun place to stay, I came to Victoria for a meat and cheese festival and stayed here on another friends recommendation. They have cool old appliances in the room and fun colors. I didn't use the common rooms but I appreciate that they are there and I got a cool yo yo. :)

Dana at check in was fast and friendly. Large room with great decor and style.

The service is great and it has so many thing for you to do. I love the retro style of the hotel and the color pops. They say they are "rebels out of the ordinary" I agree you will love to stay here. They offer so much.

Love this place. Cool west coast vibe. The design is fun and funky without being too expensive. Make sure you rent the bikes and go for a ride in their vans.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Zed in Kelowna. On my way down to Kelowna, I was advised that property that I own and where my kids live was placed on evacuation alert. I was uncertain whether or not I would need to leave suddenly. I explained the situation to the hotel staff when I arrived and they generously offered to just take my reservation day by day, but still hold the room open for me. They didn't need to do that. They also inquired every day about the situation and whether or not things were ok for me at home. They were both generous and kind. It was a great place to stay — I would highly recommend it!

Totally 80's! Family friendly. So much fun. Lots of old school memorabilia throughout the hotel that I got to show off to the kids. Friendly staff and great location. Will definitely be using their services again when we visit in the future.

I stayed in the airstream and it was fantastic. The room was impeccably clean and the bedding was so comfortable I was sleeping moments after turning out the lights. As a business traveler I stay in a lot of hotels — my room was cleaner and more comfortable than most of the expensive chains I regularly visit. The staff were all very friendly and professional. I will be back!

Great family friendly hotel. We stayed here for a week with our 4 kids in a sweet suite. Rooms were very clean. We loved all the extra amenities: board games, vinyl, backyard, free coffee in lounge, pool and slide. My kids would love to see a quarter pipe in the backyard. The Ruby was delicious for a convenient breakfast.

Had a comfortable stay! We were a bit skeptical when we checked in first, but except for the bathroom being a bit on the smaller side, it was hard to find a fault. Lobby, pool and rooms are snazzy, the slide being a big hit with the kids! Staff was really friendly and efficient, we had a maintenance issue that was fixed in no time! Overall, a really pleasant stay!

This was definitely a unique place to stay for our 2 July nights in Victoria! Our family of 4 booked the "Rad Pad" and it was great to have 2 separate rooms when the little one went to bed! The good: +Beds aren't horrible as far as some motel/hotel beds go +Restaurant next to lobby (but closes early on Mon & Tuesday and doesn't open till 8 am) +Friendly Staff +Pool and slide! The not good: -Not all that close to downtown Victoria (like not close enough to walk) There is a shuttle but only runs until 6 and can't accommodate small children (about 5 & under) -Pull Out couch's springs dug into teenagers sleep… -No free breakfast (but maybe that's an American thing?!? ) **We didn't make it to the ping pong lounge with Wii but we did do a puzzle in the lobby while waiting for restaurant to open. With all this being said. I would stay here again. P. S. There is instructions to use the phone :-P.

This hotel took my deposit and never gave it back. I spoke with different people from the front desk and even the manager and they just kept repeating them selfs sending me the same information and never fixing the problem. They stole $50 deposit that they said they would give it back to me at the end of my stay. Becarefull with this, this is not a trustworthy hotel. — 100

Our room was clean and well equipped. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The decor is definitely out there but that's their trademark! Pool, slide and ping pong table are nice bonuses. Would definitely stay there again.

I will never stay here again. We booked a room here while visiting the island. I left a beautiful shirt behind when we checked out and remembered a month and a half later. I called to see if they gave a lost and found and if so how it works. The lady was anything but helpful and just kept trying to end my call. When she realized I wasn't hanging up, she started providing me with more information. The kicker in all of this is she started to describe my shirt! not only the color but the style as well and then proceed to tell me no they don't have it! How would she know the color of it, that it was sleeveless and flowy unless she saw it? I think honestly that she took it without expecting me to call looking for it. I know it was my fault for forgetting it there and for the length of time that passed before I realized what I did, but really Hotel Zed.

Kind of cool place but there was a homeless guy sleeping in his van outside our door. Staff didn't seem to care but my son was too upset and scared to sleep all night. So it was wasted $$$ compared to getting a hotel with security.

We’ve stayed here a couple times. Funky place. Reasonably priced. Good location. Service is solid. Downside is that it’s an older motor inn and it’s a bit loud. You’ll hear a fair bit of noise between rooms and from cars and people in the lot coming and going at different hours. If need a super quiet place to stay, this isn’t it.

Hotel in retro style! Nice staff and clean rooms! But very noisy, being located right next to the main road. The shuttle service offered was only available at limited times, too bad!

The colours and everything were interesting and vibrant but there was a severe lack of outlets and the Internet was pretty dismal. The bathroom fogged up and had no fan, only a heater. The place overall was nice but realistically it just felt like an old motel with a paint job. Fortunately nothing was bad enough to merit a bad rating.

My friend and I were debating spending the night in Victoria and just happened to pass Hotel Zed and thought we would check it out. I’m so glad we did! This hotel is so colorful, fun, and the best place to stay. The retro vibe was too good to be true, along with the extremely friendly staff and the numerous activities that were available. Definitely the only place I will consider when I go back to Victoria!

I loved everything about this hotel, except for the thin walls. The attached restaurant, The Ruby" was delicious. The pool, even in the winter, was awesome. Waterslide and extra warm water was great for kids! The rooms are really fun and the decor is amazing. Explaining a rotary phone to a 4 year old sure makes one feel old!. Our only issue was the noise, but if you know about it in advance you can bring earplugs and still enjoy your stay. (The hotel is aware of the noise and provide earplugs too! ) If we return we will request a room away from the street. Thanks Hotel Zed, for the unique throwback experience!

Hotel Zed treated me very well. I only had to stay one night and was very pleased with the experience. From the start the attendant at the front desk was able to help us get our room and settled in to the area with ease. The room was very clean, beds made and bathroom put together and clean. They offered us a cool short comic book and yoyo that were included with the room and that we could keep even after our stay concluded. Hotel Zed offers free bike rentals and shuttles for your convenience to access the downtown area. The hotel has a small pool with a slide and a built in restaurant. Overall I was very pleased with my experience and would definitely stay there again if in need of a fairly priced hotel in the area.

This place was a lot of fun. Our room had one bed and a fold out couch in the living room, and another room with a second bed. There was lots of space for one mom and 4 kids. There was also a kitchenette. The bathroom was small but we didn't hang out in there. The balcony was nice and overlooked the waterslide. The pool was deep and the waterslide was wild. Heated pool. Lots of towels. I didn't use the sauna or hot tub. The coffee was great, strong and free. My room was cleaned regularly. All in all, no complaints. 10/10

Really enjoyed the rooms — vintage/retro appliances in the rooms, but we're in excellent condition. Denny's a 2 minute walk away, and I understand the breakfast at the hotel is quite outstanding, although didn't get a chance to try it. Great price!

Some people I've mentioned The Hotel Zed to have never heard of it. Neither did I until May. But it wasn't until late November that I stayed one night there. And what an experience it was. It didn't click with me the way I hoped it would, but then again, it was cold and rainy, so maybe it's more enjoyable in the summer. Even so, the room I stayed in was clean and pretty spacious for a one-bed room… and complete with all sorts of retro devices, including a dial phone! (Never figured out how to use it. ) The desk people there are friendly and patient (remember to have $50 extra for a deposit so you don't get delayed like I did), and their lobby is a 70's-style wonderland. I haven't stayed in many places in Victoria, but if you need one for a good price and excellent decor, this is it.

Fun place. Rooms facing main street a bit loud at night with traffic but otherwise no complaints. Great slide and pool. Cool pingpong room.

Cool hotel close to downtown featuring vintage styled rooms. 2 classic vans used for shuttles, free bike & longboard loans to guests. Small diner located in the main lobby. No coffee offered in the rooms, but always fresh, free coffee available in the lobby. Next trip we will be trying to book the vintage Airstream trailer they have on site to stay in.

I loved staying at Hotel Zed. The decor is fun and wild. The staff is super helpful and friendly. And the food at the Ruby is delicious!

Hotel is trying to be different with retro atmosphere. Clean and comfortable with a good restaurant. A budget type hotel, but comfortable. No air in our standard room, but fans were provided unlike similar but more expensive lodgings. Would stay again.

We stayed here on a short visit to Victoria. It was a fun hotel and we loved it. A lot of fun decor and a great atmosphere. We borrowed a couple of the bikes they offer and went around town for a little bit. I do wish I had brought swim wear to at least try the water slide. Only thing I would like is if they had a curtain so that when you are showering you have a little privacy. Otherwise a great place to stay.

It's a sweet retro budget hotel. Three of us stayed in the cottage, a fully sized two bedroom suite with kitchen and living room. There was also a porch which was wonderful to sit on in the evenings. The shuttle was an added bonus as it picked us up from Victoria and took us to our wedding the next day. Expect budget, no frills, fun accommodations. Staff, specifically Carmen on the front desk and John who drove the shuttle were kind, quirky, and helpful. There's an airstream you can stay in, a pool, and a water slide.

Kitschy, cozy and comfortable. Hotel Zed is just outside of the downtown area of Victoria. They offer bicycles and skateboards for leg powered transportation and have a VW bus that they used for a shuttle and will take you anywhere you want to go. They offer a pool with a super fast water slide for the kids and a nice hot tub for the parents. They have stylish and comfy rooms, and superior customer service. We stayed in the cottage, it offers two bedrooms, bathroom, full kitchen and living room with 50 inch TV with a million channels. We would recommend Hotel Zed to families. We really enjoyed our stay.

Such a great place to stay! Lots of free activities and great staff. After leaving I didn't feel like I normally do like when leaving a stale hotel. The pool is heated ❤ and the water slide is nice, hut tub is a must.

A great hotel style 70 years, with swimming pool and jacuzzi, free loan of bicycles and boards (+ helmets), vinyl records and board games at disposal, shuttle to the city center in VW Combi of period…

This is our 4th stay at Hotel Zed. We always get a suite as our family of 6 requires the larger accomodations. First of all if you have kids, chances are they'll love this place. That's the reason we keep coming back. The bright colours, cool classic shuttle vans and the pool are always big hits. Rooms have been well kept and clean during all of our stays here. The suites have a kitchenette which is suitable for breakfasts or basic cooking. Things to be aware of, especially if you're new to the Victoria area are that the hotel is a little ways from the main downtown. You will need the shuttle service (which is incredible, be prepared to feel like a celebrity in their vehicles) however it only runs limited hours, even in summer, and has only 1 pickup location downtown. Plan ahead. I found this odd especially since there were 3 of these cool vehicles in the parking lot sitting there most of the time. Love the concept of the lobby being a social area, but it wasn't too inviting to kids, especially with the record player having signs on it asking kids not to touch. Perhaps this an opportunity to introduce a new generation to the old technology. Also the typewriters on all of our visits have been in pretty poor working condition. Again love the idea, but when keys are broken it doesn't really encourage the use of them. Mall accessibility is very nice as it's right across the street. Lastly I didn't find the staff extremely friendly this time around.

Wonderful hotel! The water slide is a blast. The hotel staff is VERY accommodating. Only negative was the shuttle. Within 30 the driver almost got in a crash and definitely made us all sick. Then, told us just to give him a call got a pickup. When we called we were told sorry it's all full (and now we were stranded downtown, even though he knew I'm disabled and would have gladly driven in my handicap accessible van). All in all love this hotel and will come back again and again!

Really great for a 2 star place. Colourful, snazzy but clean rooms and friendly staff. The reception area has free Wi-Fi, free coffee and a nice games room with consoles, table tennis and Foosball.

First overnight stay here in Victoria, This place deserves a 5 star, But im rating it a 4 star. Here's the story, We checked in around 1pm, left around 1:30 to run some errands. I locked the door, and asked my buddy to check the door again, because we left some valuables inside our room. We were out til 5:00, when we got back, the door was left open. Im sure we left it locked. I checked it twice and my buddy checked it too, so this could be one of their cleaners. Im going to report this incident to the front desk. For now, I will sleep on this clean comfy bed.

This hotel rocked! Free shuttle to downtown Victoria and free pick up, free bike rentals and long boards if that's your thing. Kickass waterside you cannot resist even as an adult. Pool was warm and great to splash around in. Hot tub great to sit and soak in. Rooms were old school awesome, beds comfy. The Ruby restaurant associated within the hotel had a great breakfast menu and wonderful staff. Overall we had a great time and experience at Hotel Zed and would book again in a heartbeat!

My wife and I took our kids to Hotel Zed and had a wonderful experience. The staff was upbeat and friendly. The Ruby had amazing food. The room was clean and quirky. I would suggest this place to any family looking to vacation in Victoria.

Such a cool and unique place! My son absolutely loved staying here and wished we could stay longer. The décor is fun and very kid-friendy, and the staff are friendly. Note: the waterslide is VERY fast and twisty, and probably not one you'll want to let younger kids go on. There were a couple of teenagers using it when we were there, and they said even they found it to be a bit scary — but fun!

We stayed here 3 times. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are clean. The decor of the hotel is so funky and fun. It is great to stay somewhere where they have a sense of imagination :)

Enjoyed our two nights there. Rooms clean, comfy beds, great staff, excellent value and fun decor. Sad we didn't have time to ride downtown in the microbus. We would stay there again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 5-day stay (two adults, two kids). Very family friendly, quiet after 10 (ask for room in back — less traffic noise). Sound-proofing was adequate. The rooms were fun and very clean. Had a little problem with the stability of the water temperature during showers. Staff was truly excellent — friendly and helpful! Pool was very nice and the kids loved it. Don't stay here if you don't like to hear kids running around and having fun during the day. Ruby's was excellent and the lobby was a fun place to be. We will stay here again!

Very polite and pleasant service. Hotel Zed has everything you'd expect from a hotel. Neat, tidy rooms with vibrant colours, a pool and games room, and a wonderful restaurant. The only complaint I have is that the shower in Room 252 was out of control with the water temperature. I will absolutely stay here again.

Place is great for a single night stay, but might be a bit small for anything longer than 2. I like the style and love what they have done with the overall renovation.

We are Victoria locals and my girlfriend surprised me with a stay at Hotel Zed! I was amazed at how many activities there are, from ping pong, shuttle rides in the split window vw bus, figuring out how to use typewriters to free bikes. This place is awesome, and we will definitely come back.

When we pulled up to the hotel we were a little worried, but it was really nice. We stayed in a suite, 3 kids 2 adults, and it was perfect. Pull out couch, coffee table, a bed, then the kitchenette with a table and 2 chairs. Small bathroom, and the bedroom. Everything was clean, really clean! The TV's were new and excellent, the decor was really fun. In the lobby they have lounging area as well as a small restaurant. The kids loved the pool, water slide and hot tub. And were really impressed with the game room, which had 2 TV's with game consoles, and bean bag chairs. Overall we had an excellent stay and would come back to Hotel Zed again. Awesome job guys.

Totally fun and practical approach to hotel experience. Funky ambience, cozy and bright rooms, and possibly the best price for a righteous experience. When coming to Victoria, I'm never staying anywhere else.

This hotel is very retro. It's got all the amenities such as a swimming pool, laundry, ping pong table, free bicycles, and kitchen. It's clean and has a very friendly staff. Close to Tim Hortons, KFC and Canadian Tire. The only thing that bothered me was that the sinks and the bathtub drains were clogging up and the stove was very slow to heat up. We stayed in a family suite so there were two queen beds and a pull out couch and they were all very clean and comfortable.

I would not even give this hotel 1/2 a star. To start off with I needed a room because my spouse needed surgery and I needed a place to stay. When I called they said that they have a small room for this purpose. It looked clean but very small. What they forgot to tell me was how cold it was in the room, no extra blankets (unless I called down for one), the small fridge in the room made a loud noise every time it started and stopped which caused me to almost jump out of bed, and they also forgot to tell me that there would be construction work taking place just below my window and that they would be starting at 6:30 am! Unbelievable! Bad enough that my arthritis bothered me all night, and the noise from the fridge, the final straw was the construction at 6:30. So I got up and dressed put my stuff in the vehicle, had to wait till someone from construction to move their vehicle and stopped at front desk. Now I guess it was too much to expect that they would maybe give me a good discount for all the trouble that I had, but not. Instead I got was a stupid sorry and a bill for over $90.00. Wow, not cheap and not comfortable. I found a room with heat, comfort and cheaper.
