I came here before! And it was just before my vacation! I came back because of the friendly service plus my Expedia booking wasn't worth, so I just called 🙃 to book! I will come back in a moments notice!

I am happy with my car rentals and service each time I rent. Very happy with the consistent supply of cars available.

Extremely disrespectful midnight staff. Had a terrible experience. We stayed at this hotel on Friday for a very overpriced amount. The next day we missed the ferry and had nowhere to stay. Since our bags were still at Arbutus Inn we came back to the hotel, but they had no rooms available. So we asked the staff to let us stay in the lobby for a couple hours till we could catch the first bus to the ferry terminal. The guy was really disrespectful, aggressive and abusive. He scared me so went I ran away from him my phone fell out of my pocket and broke the screen. On top of that my fiance and I had to sleep on the sidewalk at a bus stop freezing to death with creepy people passing by us. Terrible experience that could have easily been avoided if we could have just stayed in the lobby waiting for the bus. Outrageous and unhumane.

It's a dive hotel. Bathrooms are BEAUTIFUL. Rooms are fairly small other than that. Looks clean when you first walk in, but don't look behind the bed (found BLOOD on my last night when I dropped my phone) Behind the bathtub smells of mold. Fingerprints all over the mirrors. Service was kinda meh. I may be old fashioned but I like to be greeted by someone when I walk in somewhere. It's also a really seedy area. Hotel smells like pot and there's always some bums outside rifling through garbage and yelling at people. It's an okay place if you're just using the room to sleep, but I would never vacation here.

The manager and staff are super friendly. They were full of answers for all my questions. They helped me find great places to eat. Was surprised at the $150 dollar deposit you have to put down for the room but I got it back within a few days of leaving. The two bed suite with kitchen was really nice. Hotel was kept clean. Beds were comfortable. The hotel is located weirdly between several streets and with the construction on the streets it was interesting to get into, but I would go there again.

The hotel is solidly decent, but with a few things to improve. Staff were courteous and moderately helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds were moderately soft and the rooms equipped with TV, microwave, and mini fridge. Hot and cold water in the shower were mislabeled; probably a building code violation. Parking was a bit awkward, as it's a tight lot and shared by a car rental agency. Location is very good — a short 20 minutes walk from Chinatown. The staff are vacuuming the hallway starting around 9 AM, so don't count on sleeping in; there's also noise from the car rental lot behind the hotel. For cyclists, note that there isn't any bike rack (why? ) and no secure overnight storage; I was directed to keep my bike rental in my room at night, which wasa tight situation. No breakfast, but there is a 10% guest discount at a nearby restaurant.

It was clean and well kept. The staff I interacted with were polite and helpful.

Good place Great staff place are starting to be better thab last time I was in very stroung of cleaning products but now they have changed owners I guess… But within this sa. E building is a car a truck rentals which the staff are also great to be around.

A Good Motel. Stayed here for 2 nights. Downtown there are a good 20min walk. There are on the Motel's free Parking, free Wi-Fi and coffee in the room. Not everything is up to date but everything was clean. Even the towels were changed. Staff was more or less friendly. The rooms were a bit stuffy and it was very warm. But could open the window.

Food rates amazing bathroom.

Nice rooms, a little tight. Very helpful and accommodating staff. Limited parking if arriving late. Overall it's decent for a short, affordable stay.

The staff at the front desk are excellent. Made every effort to help us and make us comfortable. My only complaint is there is a lack of parking and our vehicle is a little larger than some so it was kind of tight. Besides that we were very happy. Good value for your money.

Place is much nicer than what it looks like from outside. Good location… walking distance to downtown. Helpful staff.

Supposed to be $65, in total. Show up, another $14. THEN they wanted another $150 on top of the room charge for a "deposit". Ridiculous, if stayed in much better hotels all over BC, Alberta, California and never paid that much up front for a hotel room. Never stay here again.

Service was professional. Rooms were very clean and cleaned well everyday. Windows can open to let in air, if need be. Micro and cold fridge. Boiling hot water. A ton of buses right out the door. A great number of sports bars within easy walking distance.

Woman was quite unpleasant on phone after someone told me if I put a damage deposit down I could stay in a room without a credit card. She said she would NOT give me a room a few hours later. They should get their policy straight before promising a room. Just because I don't have a credit card makes me a bad person?

The owner illegaly kept cash deposit and second night (prepaid) after falsly accusing me of smoking in the room. The room attendant went into my room with a dnd on the door and saw black charcoal makeup on the vanity and told the owner I had smoked in the room. When I returned I was not able to go into my room and my belongings were packed at the front desk. The owner was verbally abusive and because I was not the primary person on the room he would not return my cash deposit it ven though it was in my name. He is a scam artist and I believe he does this regularly to people that use cash.

Beautiful rooms, perfect location for marathon weekend. Front end staff and house keeping were extremely helpful when we left some things in the rooms. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

I stayed here overnight for work in Victoria. Friendly enough staff. I was given room 207, and upon entering the room it was apparent that the bed was unsettled, and the handtowels and soap were used in the washroom. When informed they apologized and promptly moved me to another room. Its a fine enough place to rest your head.

Check in was easy and quick. The rooms are air conditioned, and the beds are new. Front desk has many helpful pamphlets for activities in the area.

It was great. The room was very clean and the air conditioning was awesome. Also close to downtown too. I'll come back.

Bed and room were very comfortable and clean. Our room was quiet. Enjoyed a brief soak in the tub. Staff were friendly and helpful. It is not the Empress Hotel, but more affordable.

A bit pricey for an overnight stay. Rooms were clean and staff quite accommodating. Pillows could be firmer though (took 3 to make 1) great location to several nearby eats) (Denny's open 24 h) staying again next week)

I have never been more disappointed with a room in my life, if there was an option for less than 1 star it would get it. Came into our room sitting at 35 degrees. Went to turn on the lamp and plug in my cell charger, the lamp is unplugged and you have to pull the whole bed away to reach a plug in. Baseboards are falling off and moldy in places. Broken floor tile, the towel bar that I had to fix so it could stay hanging up. And claims to have a "rain fall shower head" thats a regular $25 wall mounted shower head. They even tried to re paint everything and now there is paint on all the hardware in the room. The room key even quit working on the door. For what they have to offer it should be a $50 a night hotel. Worst experience at a hotel.

Didn't stay at this hotel, but we did rent a car at the national inside the hotel lobby… They were very helpful and sorted out a more affordable car rental for us. Early the next morning the worker at the hotel helped us out with letting us get our phones charged, get change for the bus, and with some directions. Overall positive experience.

Have stayed here twice in the past two years. The rates are very reasonable given that you can walk downtown in 20 minutes. It looks quite non-descript from the outside but the rooms are nicely appointed, clean and the beds comfortable. On my most recent visit I was down on the lower level, I barely heard a sound outside except for a siren off in the distance. If you are not the sort of person who expects pampering and chocolates on the pillow then I would definitely recommend the Arbutus Inn…

A very mediocre sleep, you have to walk 20 minutes to get to the port. We were on floor — 1, and we had lots of noise of air conditioners and heating systems. Without soap, we had to go ask for it at reception. And the receptionist who greeted us always said "Hello" in that way… the treatment was not the best.

The hotel is clean, in good condition, the care excellent, has free parking, the location we felt removed from the center, take bus to reach any point, the distances are long.

Bathroom was a little dingy, otherwise good. Very comfy pillows.

Clean rooms at a reasonable price. Good location.

Try not to get a room in the basement.

I stayed here for two nights, this was my experience: The hotel was inexpensive and close enough to downtown for a short bus ride or a walk. The room appeared to be clean, but returning from our day trip the second day, our bed sheets weren't replaced and very sloppily made. There were four guests in the room and we were continuously stocked with only two towels, even though we requested more on the first night. The bed was of average comfort.

I have stayed in many motels/hotels while travelling due to work/conferences or holidays. This one is not one I would choose. Though it would be ok in a pinch if you can get a room that doesn't sound like your sleeping next to a semi. It does have the appearance that someone is trying to keep the place from looking old. But facelifts don't fix the core issues. Its either the rooftop HVAC, or the someone's bathroom fan left running, or individual air conditioners?, that can keep one up all night, and ear plugs don't help with the vibration. One fellow at the frontdesk seemed to be aware of previous complaints. Most of it seems, occurs of course when one is trying to sleep. I would have left after the first night and gone to another hotel if it was my choice. But since I am working locally and accommodation for the crew is being covered. My options remain within the hotel. Not the best impression I wanted to leave with, while staying in Victoria for 3 weeks.

Do not stay here — rude clerk, had no information on cost of room — talked on the phone the whole time I was talking with him.
