I have no idea where some of these people who wrote negative reviews stayed. This hotel was clean, the room was spacious (king with a sleeper sofa), bed was comfortable and the location is a $500 a night hotel. We walked everywhere and it was an awesome town. We didn't interact with the staff much but when we did they were fine. Maybe some of the bad reviews were from people used to staying in NYC not the MI UP? We'll be back for sure.

DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR A BED TO SLEEP IN and a small one at that! Staff VERY rude! Was promised a fridge for room multiple times that NEVER got delivered. Only Ice machine in building broke down for a few hours, pop machine out of order, No way of getting quarters for laundry staff was out, they were also out of laundry soap, light in room flickers on and off possibly bad wiring? WAY overpriced will never stay again. Only thing the place has going for it is the location, that was good!

Does not live up to the Ramada name. It's not a dive, but the Super 8 in town is much nicer. You get much better food ay Mahoney's across the street than you get in the hotel restaurant.

Room was fine, but billing was horrible. They charged me for an extra night, and when I called to explain they said they would refund the charge and sent me a receipt going back on my credit card. The did not actually refund the money! I had to go crawling through my credit card statements twice, one to prove the charge was incorrect, and then to prove they didn't reimburse me. Waste of time.

Bottom line the hotel needs a renovation and the staff need to be better trained. I was surprised at how little the staff knew about the area. I asked the front desk person (not concierge) a question about something nearby and was told "I don't know"… It's like find the answer… Bed was comfortable, room was dated and not particularly clean. Buggers on the wall (on the bathroom door jam to be specific). Spider webbs. Just not worth staying there.

The river and locks park are right next door. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Did not have a chance to visit the restaurant but a free appetizer coupon was given at checkin and is always appreciated. Room was clean and quiet.

We had Valentine's dinner there. I had prime rib and my wife had white fish. The food was excellent and the service was superb. Will definitely go back.

A wonderful place with an unobstructed view of the locks. We stayed the night and had breakfast in the restaurant. Food was great. The glass dinning room made us feel like you were dinning in a snow globe.

Parking lot was under construction, but staff were helpful and the room was clean. Great location within walking distance of many restaurants and the locks.

Great location to shopping and sight seeing. Across the park from the locks. Staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. The pool seems a little like a dungeon but clean.

Very nice and accommodating hotel. Was in attendance for the RK rally.

This is not a three star, no free breakfast. Old furniture felt more like motel 6, not worth the price.

There service is excellent. There were some mechanical issues with the room and after a failed attempt to fix them, they happily moved us to a diffrent room. The hotel is a little older and doesnt seem to have been updated in the last decade or so, but it has a very classic look and feel.

Nice historic place. Liked it a lot. A little dated but you expect that with a historic place. The guy at the front desk claimed it was haunted. Nothing indicated to me that it was.

If you're looking for a "slick every room the same" place to stay; this isn't it… but if you're looking for a "real hotel", super clean, great staff, and loaded with historical nostalgia, this is it! … and the cuisine in the restaurant is scrumptious!

This is an old hotel and has the feel of being in the past. It's very close to the locks and has a great restaurant on the main floor. I am looking forward to coming back for another stay.

Pros: Located next to soo locks observatory. Neat and classy Cons: I booked a king bed room, but at the time of checking they changed it 2 double beds room. I read couple of reviews about they playing these ***** tricks.

We love this place. We come here every year for a 3-day getaway from home downstate. If you want modern with modern conveniences, this probably isn't your first choice. It is an old hotel with ambience. Staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Did not make a reservation, but was not an issue. Showed up with my wife to the desk and asked for a room preferably higher up and in view of the locks. Gave us a 2nd floor room with two twin beds. Not sure why they assumed we needed twin beds and 2nd floor room was not in view of the locks. Went back to courtesy desk and asked for a room with a single king bed. Was given a 5th floor room with a view. Not sure why we didn't get that in the first place given I specifically asked for high and a view? Staff was pleasant to deal with and non-confrontational about changing of the room. 1st room was tiny and would of been uncomfortable, 2nd Room was tiny, but bathroom was nice. Rates were expensive. Wasn't expecting higher then Petosky or Traverse City rate (were we stayed the two prior nights in nicer hotels with no reservations). Not sure if a continental breakfast was included or not as nothing was clearly posted or mentioned (disappointing given the rate of the room). Ice machine and vending machine locations extremely poor (bottom floor, basement and hidden under stairs on 1st floor). Long way from 5th floor. And vending machine prices were crazy expensive. Only + was distance to locks and restaurants/bars/shopping. Probably would not repeat. Consideration was taken given the age of the building prior to my review rating.

This facility is older but the location is PRIMO if you are visiting the locks and related tourist sites in the Soo. The hotel is located next to the locks and the outstanding viewing facilities kept up the the Corps of Engineers. The rooms are adequately kept up. Nice view from the dining room. Recommend taking the locks boat trip and visiting the Valley Camp museum. We enjoyed two meals at the Antlers Restaurant located between Dock and Informal, fun atmosphere with good food to boot.

We were disappointed in our room. Advertised as 2 queen beds in a non-smoking room on their site. The beds are full size. There was a pull out sofa, no fridge or microwave. The room is very small and with all the furniture. Makes it even smaller (desk, couch, beds, TV stand. The door would not open if the closet door were open. Very poor planning there. The front desk staff were all very nice and helpful. We were able to check out late on our day of departure which made it very convenient for us. Will not stay at this location again since the rooms are very small and we ended up with missing items from our luggage.
