Hi, This is a budget hotel but was better than I expected which does not happen often. Room was modern and clean, staff always friendly. Would stay again. They advertise breakfast for $2? if you book direct with them. It looks basic but you could not complain at that price.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time at this budget hotel for 10 nights. Perfect location with retail and restaurants literally at your doorstep, as well as a tram stop. Flinders St train station only is a couple of minutes walk. You really couldn't ask for a better location. Room was a good size with large window looking out onto Elizabeth St. A lot of people seemed to complain about the bathroom and toilet location. These were clearly shown in pictures on all websites advertising this hotel, so not sure why they complained about it, they didn't have to stay there. I didn't have a problem with either of these. These buildings are old characteristic buildings that appear well built and maintained, with one of the lifts being maintained during my visit. My room was serviced everyday and smelt fresh and clean as did the entire building. The house maids were superb and deserve a big thank you for doing such a great job and with a smile and super friendly. Now the bed and pillow, talk about the comfiest ever. I don't think I have ever slept that well. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming also. I really don't have anything negative to say. For a budget hotel, I give it 5/5. I really enjoyed my experience here and would definitely stay here on my next visit.

Great price for location, The room has everything you need for a couple of nights stay. Comfy beds and has a pancake machine in the dining area downstairs.

Stayed at ibis cbd for the weekend the staff were very friendly and helpful rooms are clean and tidy. And a very big thank you to Andrew the general manager for your help and patience will definitely stay here again.

Small room for me but room is spotless. Plenty outlets for computer and cell phone charging. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Great location in the center of Melbourne.

Average room for price, receptionist lovely really help chatty everything that you would want from receptionist so he gets the credit young fella, that was only good thing really about the hotel. Got shouted at for jogging down the hallway by apparently the GM in really aggressive way it was 8 o’clock to be fair thought he may be a customer lying.

Fantastic service and very clean. Will look after no matter what odd hour in the morning you arrive. The manager Andrew is an absolute champion who goes out of his way and above and beyond to help. He was very efficient in organising a car for me to use in Melbourne amongst other things. His staff and him always gladly assisted with a smile and enthusiasm.

Excellent central location and good price, but poor breackfast (price is only 1 dollar) and narrow room. Kind and pleasant people at reception.

Stayed here for a few nights and it’s good for short stays. There’s no need to worry about food as all around this building are supermarkets and a lot of small food stalls. Walking distance to the city tram and main CBD. Staff are very courteous as well.

Decent for the price — don’t have high expectations. Right in the middle of the city, clean and tidy. Breakfast is basic but does the job.

This place is pretty much okay when considering cleanliness and basic amenities. Most of the rooms are pretty small even for a budget hotel. They introduced complimentary Wi-Fi. The best part is, it's close to tram stops in both Collins and Elizabeth street and there are multiple food joints close by including a Subway just downstairs.

Super friendly and accomodating staff. Rooms are excellent, clean and very value for money.

If you only want a basic room you can't go past the Ibis budget hotel. Very helpful staff. Free Wi-Fi, loved our stay.

Prices were hiked up for Christmas and New Year's period. Making this stay less "worth it". The entrance to the hotel had an unpleasant smell. The toilets in the room had no fan, only a small hole which leads back into the room through the shower. Service is good, the receptionist was cheerful and happy to help. Daily room service to prepare the bed and old towels were replaced with fresh ones. However, there was no shampoo, conditioner or toothpaste.

Good location in CBD, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Good and friendly service but rooms are small for the price. No separate bathroom area for a 2 person room.

Clean and comfortable for a hotel in the budget range. The biggest plus point is the location of the hotel : smack in the middle of the city. Many of Melbourne city's major landmarks are within 5 to 15 minutes' walk away from the hotel. Family friendly with no unsavoury encounters during my family's stay there.

The location is really great. It's on Elizabeth St, close to shops and public transport, and it's a short walk to a supermarket or Flinders St station. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. It can get quite humid due to no air flow, so the aircon needs to be on pretty much the whole time. The service is really great as well. Bao at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. The front desk workers are was smiling and ready to help you. Second time I've stayed and I'm not disappointed!

Service is good trying to help with getting our correct room from day 1. Great rooms, spacious, nice location with everything outside the building.

Lovely the location. Very central and the staff were great. It has free Wi-Fi and the room was clean. Bathroom is a little odd but for that price I don't mind. Would recommend to family, singles, couples, anyone really.

When I come for a short stay in Melbourne this is usually my go-to place. The prices are cheap and the rooms have all basic necessities that you could ask for. Their small rooms have comfy beds with fresh sheets, a TV, air conditioning, shower and a toilet. There's not much else, so it's perfect if you just need somewhere to spend the night while you're out doing things in the day in the CBD. Location is great too, you're only a short walk away from shopping districts, cafes and restaurants and plenty more.

Air con/heating unit wouldn't turn off, remote or wall. Sheets smelt dusty, I know cause I have allergies to dust. I complained how dusty it was in room, probably from dirty unit mentioned above and that I'm very confident it made me sick. No refunds they say too. I see some others here have noticed like I have the dusty and old air con units, yet still had them for my stay recently. Was happy to try a budget room just to sleep but not get sick from it, that was really bad too! Weeks! Sharing widely cause I didn't get refund I requested, not interested in 'complimentary ' stay to get sick again. No way!

The room was quite small, but we were only there for one night so it wasn't much of a problem. Very clean, and the bed was comfy. Large TV and a working heater which was great. Bathroom set up was a little odd, small box for the toilet and the shower had a sliding glass door but the 'room' it was in was just a curtain. Odd, but it got the job done. Convenient location and just right for one night.

The ibis budget is a pretty good hotel. It is located in an excellent location in the heart of Melbourne. There are plenty of dining options around and most of Melbourne's sites are within walking distance. The rooms are a little bit on the small side but hopefully you won't be spending too much time in it because there is so much to do in the city.

The location is excellent. Very close to the hotel. Retired money from the residence card, returned in almost two months.

Fantastic old style pub in the middle of a fancy hotel. One of the few places left you can grab a drink, play some pool and experience what pubs used to look like before they became all hip and crafty and "oonce oonce" music. Oh yes, you can actually have an conversation in there.

Great affordable place to come back to if you go out to see a theatre show or visit nearby bars. The rooms won't wow you but they won't disgust you either, it's a very good value and comfortable stay.

Very noisy! The walls and Windows are paper thin. But for the price and location it's very good. Check in staff was helpful and friendly, clean rooms. I stayed overnight on Sunday 26th June 2016.

I like this hotel. No negative comment. The room is okay. Clean. Comfortable. Staff ok. Friendly. Opposite the tram station. I stayed at this hotel from 19th september 2015 — 24th september 2015.

Ugly but cheap and top location.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It catered for what I needed and did not dissapoint me. Everything I needed was in the room which included a tv, jug and fridge. It was not noisy considering where the location is. Staff were friendly and helpful, housekeeping was done everyday. Overall I have no complaints and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Excellent location near corner of Elizabeth and Collins street. Room was very clean, spacious and had all the necessary amenities. For the price, one of the best hotels available.

Location was excellent, room was what I expected for the price. Air-conditioning worked extremely well. However I was annoyed I had to make my own bed.

Great Central location. Airconditioner is not the greatest and a lack of powerpoints for charging multiple devices. Rooms are clean if soartan. Bathroom is functional but basic.

Price is cheap and location is very central. Rooms are just like any ibis budget across the country — basic but clean.

I'm not stay yet in this hotel but I'll in this december 2015. All I can say about this hotel budget is good when I see the picture of this hotel room is clean and beautiful. The price is reasonable and people can afford it. I just hope that the stuff of this hotel will give a good service and the room is more than I expected:)

At first, we were expecting the rooms to be just like the photos on the website. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The hotel is a simple backpackers hotel, but for a family of 4, its not feasible. The bathroom and toilets were too cramped to be deemed comfortable, and the TV remote doesn't work. It's not senior citizen friendly, so I would only recommend this hotel to young tourists coming to Melbourne. Location is perfectly situated on Elizabeth Street, where its at the heart of the CBD. Easy access to trams, chemists and supermarkets make this hotel strategically placed.

Just stayed there 4 nights suited us for a package deal with flights. Room was not large but big enough since we were gone in the morning and not back till night. The room was clean, as well as ensutie, bed comfortable towels changed each day, did not like the color of the bright yellow doors in the room. Staff friendly and very helpful, trams outside our door right in the heart of the CBD. The old railway station at the end of street and walking distance to Yarra river and eateries at Southbank.

DON'T BUY THE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST! Clean, cheap, good value.

While the customer service was acceptable the rooms were appalling. The room I was initially assigned to was a disgusting very small internal room with no window. The shower and toilet were miniscule. After complaining I was given another room which was marginally better but still nothing startling. This accommodation is certainly budget. The entrance, reception and eating area's are grubby and reflect accommodation more in line with a low budget backpackers not a hotel. On the positive side the Hotel is well located, centred in the middle of the CBD and shopping area and a short walk to the Flinders Station and Southbank. The photo's displayed on the internet do not reflect the accommodation of this hotel and are misleading. I will not stay with IBIS again anywhere.

Rooms provide strictly provide the essentials in terms of utilities (hence the term "budget") and are far from the quality you would expect from many other hotels in the area. However, we were provided with excellent customer service from the friendly staff who were able to provide assistance before, during and after our stay. Location of the hotel is also another bonus; right in the city's CBD, a short walk from the shopping centers, Chinatown, Federation Square, public transport, and food outlets. Overall, very decent stay considering their price; would recommend to groups looking for a cheap place to stay short-term.

Can't really complain for the price and the location. Their customer services are alright. But we booked that hotel because we saw nice room pictures that they had advertised. By the time we stepped into the room we were shocked to find the huge gap between the photos and the reality. It's alright it you want an affordable hotel room with convenient location for a night or two. But if you go there with the expectations from the marketing photos, you might be disappointed.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at in my life. They DO NOT offer refunds and the photos from when we booked the hotel mislead us. They did however upgrade us for free when we told them we hated the hotel and wanted a refund so I can't really complain about the customer service. The rooms however are cheap and disgusting and that will be the last time I ever stay with IBIS. In this case you do really get what you pay for, it's better to pay a bit more for something much better.

Budget indeed! But you get what you pay for. Bit of a funky smell in the hallways, but all in all gets the job done. If you just need a bed, this is the place.

Sorry but will never stay again.
