They take $100 from your acct (although they say they don’t and it’s pending) it’s not pending it’s frozen! I specifically asked them to make sure they ‘unfreeze it’ on checkout (Sunday) I and just called them now and they said they forgot to do it! DO NOT STAY HERE! Plenty of other nice hotels that work well and don’t rip you off!

The rooms have become very tired and need some tender loving care! Stains on the carpet, bathroom to be updated including toilet roll holders that work — I have two and both have issues! Outside table needs cardboard to stabilise it. Really disappointing.

Great place for breakfast, I definitely recommend it.

I had the most wonderful time spending valentines day with my partner there. The room was so clean and nice and I loved the spa bath and artwork. A special thank you to the chefs and the waiter/waitress’s at the breakfast as they went that extra mile to make my experience wonderful with a vegan breakfast for me as I am vegan. They were so professional about it.

Huge cosy service apartment style rooms. Location is just 10 — 15mins walk to city centre. Nice and clean.

Great apartment, comfy bed and good amenity. Street/traffic noise was significant when you are not used to it, but great spot to stay if you are not using a car. Easy walk to public transport, great food along Southbank and local shops.

Located at the city fringe south of the yarra river, it is relatively accessible. A 10min walk across the river gives access to the free trams within the city limits or Flinders station. Not much food options or supermarkets located close to the hotel though. The rooms are single bed room service apartments with a TV sitting area, a kitchenette, a bathroom separate from the bedroom. Washer and dryer available for use as well! Great for couples or couples with little kids. The rooms are tidy. Parking available within the hotel compound and is managed by the hotel. That's a plus point for easy all day access with a flat rate per day.

We just flew in from overseas and booked a night in the Mantra so that we would have a place to stay while we adjust to to time difference. The room in nice enough. Compact but not cramped. The restaurant/bar was closed on Sunday, so we didn't get an opportunity to try out the room service. The hotel pool and hot tub (which wasn't really very hot) where a welcome distraction for my two kids after the 14 hour flight. We where then easy able to walk over and explore the art district and a massive park with monuments and status sprinkled throughout. We were only here one night, but we passed a ton of restaurants on our walk so they would seem to be plenty of good options in the area for extend stays.

How in this day and age does a large hotel chain like the Mantra Southbank allow housekeeping staff to be bullied by an Indian Male supervisor? He is obviously chauvinistic and a bully. But Management turn a blind eye at his actions towards female housekeeping staff. Could this be because all that the Manager cares about is work getting done on time which are also unrealistic times give to staff. Very poor in this day and age in Australia this is allowed. Nobody should be bullied in the work place. Hopefully somebody will take action and this stops happening somebody should investigate why so many staff are leaving.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom corner apartment. 2 words to describe would be tired and noisy. There's no double glazing and City Rd is very busy leading to a LOT of noise. The apartment although spacious was tired. Chips on the bathtub and kitchen bench and dirty marks all over the bathroom ceiling as well as dust/mould in the exhaust fan. Shower is over bath and the glass panel is homeopathic leading to a fair bit of water spray. Staff were nice but not particularly friendly and hard to get a hold of at critical times. The bathtub plug didn't fit and despite trying to call reception multiple times to get another one, phone rang out which made bathing difficult with an irritable toddler needing a bath. The in house restaurant stops service breakfast at 9.30am which seems ridiculous. Good things were the size of the apartment and nice furniture, comfy couch and view of the arts centre. Wouldn't stay here again, better options nearby.

Great location. Clean rooms. Loved our two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. Easy parking within the building. Friendly check-in and painless checkout with emailed receipt. No comment on the in-house restaurant as did not eat there. Pool was nice on the 18th floor, but spa was luke warm and not at all endearing.

We stayed there for my birthday and anniversary with our 4 girls and loved it. We were surprised with a bottle of bubbles for us and a sweety for the girls on arrival. Reception staff were lovely and extremely helpful. Great location and rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Highly recommend this hotel.

The reception and rooms were very nice. The dining option and especially the Buffet Breakfast was Bad. The staffed informed us we could sit down and of course pay full cost but we only have 20 mins until they close until dinner. Another couple we saw walk in just before close were told they could have breakfast but would have to get everything they wanted before they sit down and proceeded to close the buffet around the couple eating breakfast. Poor form Mantra.

Apartment styled hotel rooms. Comfy and spacious. Not too far from the city. It has a indoor pool, spa and gym too.

Rooms were nice, terrible customer service and rooms not cleaned. Expected for maybe a motel but for a Melbourne city Hotel, absolutely shocking. There is the Oaks next door which might be a better choice. Very disappointing as I have had good experience with there interstate. (Adding a few days later — after my partner had to vacuum the room ourself, we found we were vacuuming glass from the carpet, it was a worry as we had a crawling babies. Lucky we vacuumed)

Recently stayed 6 night. Location could not be better for us as we could walk along Southbank and into the City without any trouble. Room clean and comfortable. Would stay there again when in Melbourne.

Walked in and was greeted by the most friendly and helpful receptionest (Clair) the rooms are very affordable and look amazing will definitely be coming back again, wouldn't go anywhere else.

Beautiful serviced apparentment, complete with washer, dryer and dishwasher! Wonderful end to our trip, would definitely stay there again, and recommend to friends and family. Excellent reception staff, and very comprehensive breakfast buffet. No little sewing kit in the bathroom, however it provided a good excuse to buy new jeans.

Very disappointed considering the room charge. Not too clean. Room not cleaned for the 3days I stayed. Bed comfy. Position good. Sad. Needs upgrading.

Spacious rooms, most of the staff are friendly. Well all except one, maybe she was having a bad day. The location is good. We stayed 6 days and walked every where. Only catching the free tram once and that was for the experience.

Great location, the staff were attentive, helpful and ensured we had everything we required on our stay. We were even given a complimentary cheese board and bottle of wine due to a small booking issue. Will definitely stay there again.

The hotel stay was alright however the parking was a nightmare. The room keys for the car park didn't work and when we paid for 2 parking spots they only provided one. Not the best experience.

Very contemporary and unpretentious hotel, a short walk from major corporate headquarters, cultural attractions, and the CBD. Rooms are modern and clean, so basically this hotel provides everything you need and nothing you don't. Staff are excellent and attentive.

The front reception staff were friendly and attentive and explained the specials (2 free drinks at the bar and late checkout). The room was clean and had all normal ammenities. The shower gels provided were great.

This was a really good place to stay, very God rooms with spas. However, of you have a spa room then you don't have a balcony. The pool was nice as well.

Really enjoyed my stay here (for business). The rooms were clean and modern, staff were friendly, check in/out was easy. Breakfast buffet was better than most hotels but on the pricey side. There’s an organic cafe around the corner I went to instead. Not many good restaurants around Southbank (very touristy) but it’s an easy walk into the city.

TERRIBLE SERVICE — DEFINITELY DO NOT BOOK HERE! — For the same sort of money you would be better off booking into The Langham, Crown, or any other Melbourne Hotel. The staff are very unhelpful and NOT Friendly at all! They made a mistake with our booking, and even after admitting their mistake (including phone recording! ) they would not refund our booking!

Had a two bedroom suite as we took our two kids. The room presented poorly. The coffee table was broken, I slid the TV back on the low cabinet as it wasn't secured to find holes all through that cabinet.
Most wall corners had stainless angleline which was pretty sharp, shower went stone cold two minutes into my sons shower, smoke detector in master is placed right above you the light from the detector lights up the entire bed. Staff struggled to know what services were available.

The room was okay except for the kitchen. There was a micro oven which did work but not in the outlet it was plugged into in its nook. That meant I had to drag it out into the counter to use it but the counter wasn't big enough to hold it. The restaurant was also closed and consequently no room service. Nice and close to the botanic gardens and Southgate.

Lovely room nice city view from 10th floor, could have been a tiny bit better in a few areas but overall good.

Had a good stay there, staffs are nice and well trained. The pool, spa and sauna were great too. The only problem was that the toilet was a bit smelly.

2 bedroom gallery apartment with breakfast fantastic. Rooms wonderful and breakfast amazing. Kids loved the pool and spa! Traffic is loud but that can't be helped (I bought ear plugs! ). Would love some rugs in room to snuggle up with while watching tv. We will be back! Staff lovely.

Great location! Our room overlooked the arts centre and we were able to watch the ballerinas train, kids loved it! Clean rooms, awesome roof top pool and the restaurant was lovely with friendly staff and beautiful food. Happy hour wasn't bad either.

Lovely rooms, fully loaded with kitchen and laundry washer and dryer. Very clean, very quiet, and the reception staff tremendously friendly and helpful.

Thought it would be great … but disappointed! No free Wi-Fi as advertised… room wasnt made up and no toilet brush in the toilet. I slept well but my husband found it noisy.

Great rooms. Great location for South Bank (obviously) but short walk to Fed Square and 15min walk to virtually any other part of the Melbourne CBD. Breakfast was superb.

Reasonably modern and clean hotel. Nice gym, indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and spa on the 18th floor. Buffet breakfast was good quality. Our 2 bedroom apartment looking out to the Eureka tower was comfortable.

Bed comfortable. Aircon was rattling and loud so even in 36 degree heat we slept with it off. Terrible buffet breakfast for the price. We arrived at 9am for breakfast with nearly nothing left and were told it was because buffet breakfast finishes at 9.30am. At 9.30am they started packing up what was left in the buffet as "breakfast was over" despite us still eating.

First arrived an hour half early they still allowed check in. Room was 510 size is OK for two but the main reason We chose this room was because of a King bed choice. But as we found our room only had a queen bed. We were going to just leave it be but as soon as there was loud music and yelling from next room at 1am and then again at 4:30am yes partying loud music swearing at people passing by… I had to complain about room and bedroom etc. Reception was very understanding and moved us up a floor and into a King size bed. (Which was the choice in first place thru website. ). We went out for breakfast and came back they had moved all our stuff into new room. This was much better. Key points… bath is just a bath nothing special. Shower head is very low im185cm. Rooms are good size for short stay. Noise from main road is OK could do with better sound proofing. To help this request a room off main Street and anything above 6th floor for a view of the arts center tower (Eiffel tower) or else you be looking out over to a grey wall of concrete carpark/office. Pool area is nice clean. Best part about mantra location location location. Walked every where within 5mins.

The location is nearby the botanical gardens and art gallery although some distance from the exhibition centre (20min walk). Plenty of eating and drinking establishments close by. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for the week which was clean and had all the usual facilities of a self-contained room. Staff were friendly, professional and keen to help.

Great staff, amazing aircon and comfortable bed… shame the room wasn't cleaner. It was very worn out looking.

Stayed at this place from 14 to 16 January 2016 I found it absolutely fantastic. My room was clean and fresh… the bed and pillows were great. Had the best sleep… Fantastic location. Highly recommend it!

Reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and quiet. Close to venues and the city. This is the second time I have stayed and will return.

All round great stay. Great rooms, wonderful staff and service and a killer restaurant.

Haven't stayed at the hotel but had breakfast there and they served up a delicious breaky in the restaurant. Swiss brown mushrooms lightly sauteed with poached egg and rocket on ciabatta. Absolutely delicious. We'll done to chef for changing from sloppy egg yuck to something subtle and yummy.

I really enjoyed staying here and didn't want to leave. The staff were friendly, the apartment was beautiful and the location was ideal. Highly recommended.

1 bedroom apartment was spacious and the central heating worked amazingly well. Breakfast was adequate without being excessive, consistent with my perceptions of the mantra brand.

We booked the 2 bedroom apartment and found it very clean, modern, well appointed and nicely decorated. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent location. Just a couple minutes walk to Southbank and close to shopping area. Would definitely book at this hotel again.

Very close to the Arts Centre which hosted a conference our staff attended.

I found it kind of bad due to the fact of paying for parking and that the bathroom roof was rushed the kitchen is not good the oven takes to long to heat up there are lines on the TV and there is only 1 bathroom and the parking is very hard to exit from the food in the hotel is very expensive I wouldn't recommend this hotel much there might be better ones out there I really loves Manta Circle on Cavill in Queensland.

Shocking hotel experience! Had booked over the phone with Tim, one week before checking in and agreement was to pay cash for 2 nights accommodation upon check in. On day of arrival to hotel, commenced to pay cash for the 2 nights, and was told by person behind reception that there was also a $200 booking fee? WTF!? : (knew nothing about this, as Tim did not mention any booking fee over the phone. And what a crock of shit, booking fee my arse! The only relief I could get, after 15mins of trying to negotiate something, was to have it reduced down to $50? Still, not right, never heard of a booking fee before if paying cash. Stayed in a 1bdrm spa apartment, the cleanliness was not of a standard that one would expect, as I have previously been an Accommodation Manager at a Boutique Hotel. Can't believe this hotel has a 4 star rating, what a joke! The apartment faced onto the main road, and even with windows closed, the noise of the traffic was that loud that you'd swear it was coming into the apartment. Made it hard to settle at night. On top of that, noisy, drunk neighbours that were banging doors going from apartment to apartment most of Saturday night, till around 4am! When asked reception for assistance, they told me they had spoken with the folk in question, but honestly, reception didn't seem to fussed about anything. How would I rate the customer service at this place, hmmm, let's see. ABSOLUTE SHIT!

Very nice decor in a very convenient location right in the center of Southbank. The rooms are all very comfortable and spacious, also great views on the City road side. Had the occasional problem with getting the right rooms (single beds being replaced by queen beds etc. ) however the staff have always been helpful to help deal with any issues.

Booked room for three people arrived to one queen bed. Called reception, unfortunately I was told by Tim Clark, this is what I booked and was to late to change rooms. Our rate was reduced by half the next morning but I feel it was to prevent this happening. Breakfast was good.

This seems more of a three star hotel. Asked for two single beds and recieved a queen. I would not be staying here again.
