Fantastic atmosphere — terrific staff — wonderful fire in the bar & would highly recommend the meals especially the tempura onions & mushrooms — definitely will come back & recommend to friends.

Ordered calamari chips and salad tonight, 9 sml pices of calamari 14 chips and a small bowl of salad which was mostly made up of lettuce and red onion, can defiantly tell there has been a change of chefs as I have been staying here for a number of years for work.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. My husband had the seafood parmi and I had the grilled chicken and garlic prawns. The service and hospitality was very warm and welcoming. Thank you for a pleasant experience. Definitely recommend.

We were not aware of the early kitchen closing hours at Queenstown. This place was our saviour. The service was excellent. Head chef Grant even cooked special vegetarian meals for my friends. Serving size is generous and food was tasty. Best dining experience in Tasmania.

Good food room old but clean.

Room was clean and neat. Food was good. Water was hot. Wifi stopped but that wasn't their fault. Rate was reasonable and staff were friendly. I would definitely go again. Also very easy to find. On the main road into Queenstown.

A big thanks to the gentleman as we rang reception at 2am and got him out of bed to book a room, was a freezing night was greatly appreciated a nice warm room and comfy bed, Told us to check out the next morning at any time we liked. A++ service.

First time I have been out in Two years had the best meal tonight at Silver Hills staff were so friendly and helpful would really recommend it it was awesome thank you will be back.

Quaint. That about sums it up. The staff are very nice though.

Great chef who specialises in steak, ribs, pulled pork etc. Rooms are ok as long as you are not expecting 5 accommodation.

Bathroom very shabby and old… TV too small… breakfast served too late in the morning… should start at 6.30am not 8. Office locked and no where to return key at 7.30 in the morning, had to leave with nearby workman… place needs a complete modern update with management who are at least interested.

We did not stay here but visited twice in 3 days for dinner. Great food at quite reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and level of service was good even with a full dining room. Would recommend a visit.

As a local I find it extremely rude and annoying to be knocked back for a meal at 7:25 in a Saturday night.
You may want to remember who keeps your business running through winter when there are no visitors around.

Comfortable rooms, bathrooms need an update and restaurant under the pump due to an ill guest. Wait staff needed a bit a training too.

Nasty room smells musty, mould in the shower plus a shower curtain, really. How can anyone say it is 5/5. We will only stay one night not 2 and I have driven my husband nuts because I don't have any bleach.

Having been to many places around the world this has been the worst restaurant by far. We waited over 60 minutes before the starters arrived. The restaurant claims an executive chef on their website but the food certainly does not reflect that. We were told shortly into dinner service i. E. 6pm that chicken schnitzels e. G parmi were not available nor was rib eye steak. Our tweenager child ordered entree beef ribs plural but the singular rib (see photo in comments) presented looked like it came off a mammoth! It was overcooked and inedible. My other half chose the curry of the day and the vegetables included were frozen. Also for his starter, he chose prawn and avocado. The avo was rock hard yet perfectly sliced but also inedible. My steak should have been medium rare was well done. The gravy was a gluggy Gravox but worst of all was the wine (Gossips) sold at $6 a glass that could be purchased in any Aussie bottleshop for $6 a bottle. Much more than 100% mark up. This is peak season in January! A meal for 4 of us cost nearly $200 and yet we only had 2 glasses of wine. The main bulk of the cost was on the under par main dishes. No desserts as we lost confidence by then. We would not recommend it whatsoever! Unfortunately however beggars can't be choosers in Queenstown. So maybe plan ahead and cook or try Maloneys which was the other place recommended to us or don't stay in Queenstown!

November 2017 A nice motel with a super delicious kitchen.
Here definitely reserve for dinner, the prices go absolutely fine and you get a lot for it money.
The rooms are OK the bathroom could tolerate a renovation, but nevertheless we would check in again here.
Every day the room is brought to the front, very nice.
It is only a 5 minute walk to the railway and in the 8 min you are at the supermarket.
The Wi-Fi is free and works quite neatly.
There is a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, stand fan, heating and a bed heater for cold days.
… there are 4 stars for the really top food, today we had the 700gr steak, for one it is too much so we have shared;-) super good steak and to the point medium.

Very comfortable bed. Convenient location. Good licensed restaurant. Very friendly staff.

Great food, great place. I had the lamb ribs. They were delicious. Also had my favorite dessert, Apple and blueberry crumble. Highly recommend.

Smelters restaurant within Solver Hills Motel is a good place to have a fab view. We are traveller and stay here one night. The food they provided with reasonable price and delicious food plus beautiful sunset view! really had a memorable time there.

Average rooms but clean and reasonable price. Great view. Dinning room service and food great. Staff friendly and close to town.

I'm reviewing the restaurant not the motel. Delicious and abundant food. I had the soup of the day and a chicken parmigiana Aussie style that was huge. Couldn't finish it, I was sad because I wanted to try the desserts too, but it was too much. So, order wisely so you can try everything on the menu!

Only stayed one night. The room wasn't big but was nice. Probably the best motel in town.
