Lovely place to stay and our hosts thought of everything that you need. I would highly recommend this beautiful historic mansion.

I highly recommend staying at Penghana, Steve and Karen are wonderful hosts. The accommodation is very comfortable and the house is magnificent. Our group will continue to book our nights there when visiting Queenstown.

I am not sure where to start to express how impressed I am with my stay at Penghana. It was the most amazing feeling from the moment I stepped inside. I cannot recommend this accomodation anymore highly. For the welcome and comfortable way of greeting guests to the amazing touches in the rooms. I had the best stay! The delivery service to diner wherever you want to go. And a delightful pick up service after dinner. Steve and Karen could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was delicious and exceptional. Thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness. I will definitely be back with friends!

We had a wonderful stay at Penghana B & B. Hosts, Karen & Steve went out of their way to ensure we had a relaxing experience. We loved the little extras, such as complimentary port & fruit cake, toiletries, and a chauffeur service to dinner, if needed. The whole house is extremely clean & well looked after. We stayed in the Owen room which was spacious & had fantastic views. It is obvious that Karen & Steve like people, which is reflected in their friendly demeanour. We would highly recommend Penghana B & B, and would stay there again.

We recently stayed at Penghana in the Owen Suite and can highly recommend both the services and amenities in this unique B&B. The house is full of history and our hosts Karen and Steve were very passionate in sharing that history with us. We enjoyed some delicious breakfasts cooked daily by Steve, including some great conversations. Best place to stay if you are in Queenstown.

Booking this gorgeous place is a must! Steve who is the host is simply amazing. He makes your stay so comfortable by personally greeting you on arrival and taking care of all of your needs. We have travelled all over the world and nothing compares or comes close to penghana. The facilities are second to none and it’s above and beyond 5 star it’s pure luxury. Highly recommended booking and also visiting Queenstown. It’s simply amazing. Thank you so much Steve for making our stay in Queenstown so relaxing and we will definitely be back :) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment, which has it own kitchen and living area, very comfortable beds and great hosts.

A piece of Queenstown's history, the former residence of the general managers of the Mt Lyall copper mine is a very comfortable home away from home. We stayed in the Owen suite and were most impressed with the layout and amenities. A very comfortable queen sized bed and fantastic view of the township and mountain from the window. The full breakfast provided by mine hosts Steve and Karen was winning way to start the day. Highly recommended. — mit Judy Forwood.

Lovely room and very nice breakfast. Our hosts were very thoughtful. We loved playing scrabble in the sitting room with a little port as a night cap.
The museum is definately worth a visit with the hand typed comments which could only come from someone with local knowledge and we loved the Wilderness Railway.

A beautiful National Trust home with hosts that leave no stone unturned. From the moment you walk through the lead light doors you are looked after. A guided tour of this majestic home complete with guest lounge, kitchen and billiard room. Our room had commanding views over Queenstown and was so large it had a dressing room and sofa. The breakfast was superb and the fruit cake divine. Highly recommend this property to experience the finer things in life.

Karen and Steve are fantastic hosts with a passion for the history of Penghana — the perfect caretakers of this home. Many thanks to Karen for taking the time to explain more of Marion and Roberts story as well as the background to Marion's necklace, I made sure we visited this before we left Queenstown. The extras above normal B+B made our stay extra special. A word of warning the approx 80 steps from the garden to the street below magically double in number on your way back up with a full belly, so do take up Steve's offer to come and pick you up from your dining venue. We will definitely recommend to our friends and return again :)

Penghana B&B is an exceptional place to stay at. I will strongly recommend it to everyone visiting Tasmania.
It is the best B& B we have ever been to during our travels through 56 countries.
Hosts Steve and Karen were so warm and hospitable it felt like you were staying with family.
The breakfast was sumptuous and tasty.
Service was elegant and top class.

Impressive property and ammenities oh and the hosts are fabulous. Would definitely stay here again.

Floors in kitchen and bathroom very slippery. I fell over twice, as did 2 others during our stay. Wasn't even asked if I was ok despite having bruises a week later. Steve seemed more interested in his wife who was unwell, than he was in his guests. Fortunately I didn't seriously hurt myself but if I did I would've taken it further. I was glad it was me that fell and not the 94 year old lady in the next room. Customer service was crap, will not be back! Maybe if the wife was well it would've been better.

Brilliant hosts, comfy bed and delicious cooked breakfast — what is not to love?! Highly recommend!

Beautifully hosted by two extremely passionate hosts Karen and Steve. Beautifully decorated and yet, completely homely.
Ambience amazing, views from the house, overlooking Queenstown, simply breath-taking.

This was the best stay of our honeymoon. Karen and Steve were just wonderful. Beautifully cared for, very very comfortable and a delicious and freshly cooked breakfast where basically all of the products have been sourced by the locals. Can’t wait until we can go back.

The hosts, Karen & Steve, are amazing! They thought of every detail making our stay one to remember. The breakfasts are cooked to perfection and a wonderful way to start the day.
The house is spacious with a guest kitchen and lounge areas where we met with friends in the evening.
There is a lot of history here which Karen and Steve love to share!

Nice cottage, beautiful garden, friendly and helpful host.

We warned that we were coming in between 8:00 and 9:00. As tourists étrangés, we had no phone. Arrived on the spot, we stayed 10 minutes to maneuver in the course, the reception separated from the body of the building was closed and despite the noise of the engine no one showed up. We had to find another disaster accommodation at the Empire Hotel. These people were nevertheless eager to take us…

What a magnificent Bed & Breakfast. Talk about great ambiance and even better facilities. And of course the magnificent hosts Steve and Karen. These people make your stay very worthwhile. And of course both hosts are very knowledgeable of the local area and it’s history. Want special places to see and do in and around this lovely area, just ask.

This beautiful historic home set right up on the hill is absolutely stunning. From the moment we pulled up we fell in love. Beautiful gardens. A verandah with comfy furniture. I felt like I would see Agatha Christie writing her latest novel on the verandah. Once inside we were welcomed by Karen and this lady is amazing. So much information about this beautiful little town. Great recommendations for dining and even called the local boutique to help kit us out with some warm clothing. Everyone is so friendly! The room was superb and I slept so soundly! Breakfast was the best. And really will keep you fueled for the day. So much to do and see. A beautiful ball room which is now a games room with a very large snooker table. We went on a steam train journey up the mountain and it was fantastic! I will never forget our stay here and will look forward to staying here again. Highly recomend!

An absolute must for anyone visiting the West Coast of Tasmania. Hosts Karen and Steve are a wealth of knowledge and the most gracious of hosts. Karen's tasty treats from the kitchen are to die for! We stayed in the Owen Suite which was absolutely glorious and the views of the mountain in the morning were nothing short of spectacular. A most beautifully preserved national treasure.

What a senationally preserved and presented property to be privileged to stay at. Karen and Steve are amazing hosts and caretakers of this breathtaking accommodation. We stayed in the exquisite Owen Suite and we're blown away with attention to detail and level of comfort and welcome. Nothing at all was too much for our hosts, and the included silver service breakfasts were something both special and delicious. Karen and Steve have a passion for this beautiful property and her upkeep. Something special sitting around in the beautiful sitting room playing vintage Monopoly and Scrabble. Such attention to detail, they had found my missing gold earing long before I realised some 6 hrs later, packed and had it in mail safely back to me. Such a small item to be found during cleaning shows the attention given to each suite. Thanks Steve and Karen for a special experience and the earing arrived safely today in the post. Service above and beyond and cannot wait for our next visit and spend more time at Penghana. Singly the best accommodation anywhere in Tasmania let alone West Coast. Beautiful National Trust historic Mine Managers residence. The hosts where excellent, especially since we arrived wet through on motorbikes. They provided undercover parking and good local knowledge of where to visit, travel time and excellent places to eat during our stay. The room we had was comfortable and the historic house beautiful. The breakfast provided could have kept you going most of the day.

It is gorgeous, well situated and has a lovely couple looking after the facilities. They are helpful and welcoming. The suggestions are definitely worth following, both for food and attractions. Definitely recommend.

Exceptional bed and breakfast with amazing hosts who were more than happy to help.

Beautiful place to stay. Lovely, historic, luxurious building. Note that it is NOT a hotel, but a guest house. This means no ensuite bathroom etc, and food is cooked by your wonderful hosts. Rooms are fairly sizeable, nicely furnished. Plenty of usual facilities you'd expect at a hotel available. Full Continental breakfast cooked to order. Conveniently located. Cons: aren't so much related to the place itself. Queenstown is a very dreary place after the mining business has ended there. Penghana is like the one nice place in a very sad locale.

Beautiful old house on top of the hill. The place is amazingly well kept and the owners are friendly and prompt to help and give recommendations for daily activities. The breakfast is as good as it gets, delicious! The room was spacious and had a private bathroom. Only 6 rooms available in total.

Second time here. First was lovely but new owner is useless! Only 2 couples were visiting and when the owner didn't get our names right she became rude with us. She then asked us to use the servants entrance and not the nice main entrance. I booked the best room there and was disappointed there was only one robe to wear! At 2am there a horrible banging in the ceiling that went on for 30 minutes. Got no sleep and next day asked the owner what it was… She didn't hear it? Do not recommend at all until a owner who knows how to run a business takes over.

Spacious, clean rooms, lovely hosts, beautiful view.

Beautifully restored heritage listed home set within amazing gardens on top of hill overlooking Queenstown. Stayed in the Owen room (originally the master bedroom of the mine manager) with amazing views over Queenstown. Access to authentically furnished sitting room and kitchen. New owners very friendly and accomodating. Superb cooked breakfast.

Loved the warm and cosy room. Excellent views and a wholesome breakfast. A really cute and friendly welcome from the dog with lovely owners.

Charming B&B that will make you feel like you walked back in time. Loads of history and wonderful friendly staff all add up to loads of character.

This would easily be one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed at Magnificent view of the mountain, lovely gardens and fantastic hospitality.
