This hotel is good for a one night stay but I wouldn't recommend it for a vacation. Upon arriving we had spots on the floor, and chairs. We checked the beds and there was something stuck to the fitted sheet, they said housekeeping came daily but we never seen them and our trash piles up in the room. The TV worked initially then went out, found out the remote didn't work. We called to get it fixed and the girl got the cable back but the remote still didn't work. The bathroom had mold around the edges along with the AC unit in the room. Overall you're getting what you paid for so if you are just breezing through then stay here but nothing more.

There is nothing wrong with this hotel. We had a pleasant stay. The pool is smaller than it looks in the pictures. It is a nice pool. Our TV didn't work but we were promptly moved to another room. The staff are exceptional. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel is inexpensive so don't expect perfection! My family enjoyed our stay.

It was pretty good despite the negative reviews. I was reluctant to book this place but you get what you paid for and it exceed those expectations. So kudos. The hotel is old but the rooms were clean and I had no issues regarding anything sanitary. The breakfast is decent enough to hold you over til midnight morning but don't expect gormet. Overall I would definitely stay here again especially considering how close it was to Busch Gardens.

The staff is very nice but it's obviously a budget hotel. You get what you pay for! The breakfast was just cereal or biscuits, not even powdered eggs. The rooms have some weird black stuff on the walls and the showers take a while to get hot. Honestly none of it's that bad and it was still a good experience.

Great rooms. This room was a welcome reprieve from where we were staying prior. (The bedbug infested super 8 opposite of it) the room we stayed in, 417, was fashionable, tidy and very accomodating. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 ☆ is the hair dryer hanging ominously from a hole in the wall, the lack of bathroom amenities and the bathtub jets not working.

We just checked in to this hotel and my everlasting lord this place is disgusting. It needs to be destroyed and remodeled. The pictures attached are just SOME of the room flaws and that includes the stains in literally everything. Cigarette burns on any and everything and stained sheets. The rooms smell HORRIBLE of old mildew and cigarette smoke from a time long forgotten. The air units do not work well so the rooms are horribly muggy and hard to breathe in. I can tell you for sure there's mold here, it's… obvious. It's on everything and covers literally any corner or surface that could have ever gotten wet. There's dust covering the lamp shades, the table, the everything! There's crumbs on the floor and my God this place is a God damn pig sty.

Arrived at 4am and just wanted to go to bed. When we walked into the room it was blazing hot, the heat was running when the weather has been in the muggy 80s for over a week, turned the AC on full blast first thing. The room had no TV remote, called the front desk, he brought us a remote that ONLY changed channels, no volume control at all. Then by 7am you'd think the room would be ice cold, no it was still over 80 in the room. When I complained to tye manager on duty, she said it's a known problem that she'd move us to another room at no charge. DING DING DING if it's a known problem DON'T USE THAT ROOM TILL IT IS FIXED! SO after all of that still no refund for that night. Now we are the Motel 6 about 2mi down the road and loving it, nice staff, cool room and cheaper to boot, everything we need.

Easy check in and very friendly. But got to the room and there were stains on the bed. The bathtub looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a while, there is something brown splattered on the wall and black curly hairs in the tub. The toilet seat is broken and keeps sliding off base. Husband went to talk to front desk and they gave us a new room. Much better.

You do get what you pay for. Everything about this please is cheap so make sure you pay as little as possible too. They sent us to two rooms that were not cleaned and the whole place feels outdated. So if you just need a roof over your head at night while you visit the attraction around town then it is an Ok place to stay.

Affordable accommodations. You do get what you pay for. During my experience, it seemed nothing was addressed until a customer drew attention to the deficit. Despite the reactive approach, the staff still seemed to respond in a timely manner.

Where do I even begin NEVER again. I should have known something was wrong when we went to check in and people was running to check out. We didn’t even get to check in. There was no hot water the house keepers didn’t show up. People were complaining about there rooms being nasty. Hair ever where. Yuck yuck yuck the guy making breakfast was also checking people in and helping getting the rooms right he was very very nice. Don’t be deceived by the pictures it looks nothing like the hotel. All I can say is YUCK never will I book here they actually deserve no stars. But the front desk was very nice and handled everything very well.

I booked a reservation for two days at the end of March. The reservation was on file in my babe with my birthday and everything to do with me. When I got there and tried to check into my reservation they said I couldn't because I want 21. When I asked if it needed to be new that checked need in they said yes. There was no way for me to claim my reservation and so I had to cancel it and was almost stuck in Virginia with no place to sleep until I went to days inn who accepted me even though I was only 18.

We spent the day at Bush Garden's and made reservations to stay the night at this motel and it was awesome! Some of the other review's made me a little nervous, but we had a great time! All the Staff were very friendly and accommodating. My Kid's loved the indoor pool and we also took advantage of the fitness room. The Rooms were clean, the bed's were comfy, and I would recommend this motel to all my friend's and family. We will definitely be back, since we are annual pass holders at Bush Garden's. Two Thumbs Up!

This place is a Hidden Gem. It's affordable, the staff is friendly and they have a great breakfast. It's located close to just about everything you need in Williamsburg. Can't say I have any complaints.

Dirty, old, run down, in desperate need of updating and cleaning! Check in staff was grumpy and judgemental. Check out staff was very nice and polite! Breakfast attendant was juggling breakfast service and cleaning the pool at the same time!

The whole place STINKS of BLACK MOLD! Going down the hallway you can actually see black spotty mold all along the ceiling and tops of walls… EEEWWWEW! The rooms were dated but nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Close to many shopping opportunities.

This place has really low prices so you wouldn't expect to get the quality you get. Nice size room the hot tub works. My only complaint and reason they didn't get 5 stars from me is because the toilet should have been cleaned better.

We had a wonderful time. Rooms clean. Employees extremely nice. Cant wait to come back in the summer.

It's ok for the price… booked for the indoor pool but it was broken. We got to breakfast around 9 and there really wasn't anything left. We had to ask for toilet paper. Beds are comfortable but dated covers. We bought a playpen for one of our toddlers wasn't very much room to put it up.

Upon arriving the entire 4th floor (which our room was on) reeked horribly of weed and smoke… but evidently those tenants only stayed one night thank goodness! This hotel is in need of some tlc but it served it's purpose for the two night stay and visit to Williamsburg. The girl on duty (Sat. Evening) when we arrived was the only friendly one — several other encounters with other employees yielded no courtesy or customer service… not good but not horrible either.

It’s basic accommodations… A warm roof overhead, a bed, and a TV. For the price, I don’t expect much more. But, I wouldn’t call it nice by any stretch, or even particularly clean. There were curly hairs all over the bathroom, and I wouldn’t touch the phone due to a few suspect brown smears on the handset. On a positive note, the room didn’t smell bad and the linens were clean. Only glanced at the “continental breakfast, ” and it was very light on offerings. I think they’d do well to rename it “refreshments” and they’d probably get far fewer complaints from people expecting more. Last point and potentially the most important for adults without children… a lot of families stay here, families who don’t seem to discipline. So, I haven’t heard that many children run amuck in a long while. Unless you’re a sound sleeper, don’t expect to sleep in late. All that said, the front desk is friendly and the hotel has a lot of great potential.

Amazing hotel. My wife and I got the king bed with the spa tub and it was amazing. We definitely will be staying here the next time we come down to the colonial triangle. Plus it is the perfect distance away to be convenient and lower cost!

The prices here were affordable. The room my son and I stayed in was nice and clean. And the staff was pleasant.

It's a friendly atmosphere. Worker's are extremely friendly, helpful. Prices are responsible. They have family room's, clean, nice. Would recommend it. They do have a indoor pool & a outdoor area to sit & relax. I enjoyed my time there.

Very friendly staff. The kids love the indoor pool. Rooms are clean and the rate is fair for our length of stay. Enjoyed the fitness room and sauna. I would recommend Howard Johnson to my family and friends.

The staff was very accommodating and Pleasant. There was 2 repairs that needed to be addressed normal wear and tear that can happen at any time and they fixed them immediately. The beds were comfy. It's very nice after a long day out and about! The breakfast area could use some type of system to make it easier to actually get breakfast or possibly a bigger area to accommodate everyone. The dining area could be a little bigger. I was dissapointed to find the jets in the double rooms were disabled that would have been nice but I understand the reasoning. The blanket had big holes and cigarette burns. Overall we loved our stay.

Filthy! Lots of potential but run down and dirty. I don't mind shabby or run down but filth drives me crazy. Hair from the last guests, brown stuff on the wall next to the toilet paper roll (use your imagination! ), dried blood on the wall in the lobby bathroom, and someone tried to use the trash can in the gym as a spittoon for tobacco, missed, and hit the wall and floor. It was there the Thursday we checked in and was still there on Saturday when we checked out. Again, lots of potential as it has an indoor pool, working sauna, free breakfast which is pretty good, and a small meeting room. With an investment and better cleaning staff this would have been a good experience.

We enjoyed. The hotel they have remodeled rooms clean and comfortable staff excellent. And accommodating. We really enjoyed ourselves and the breakfast. Was included.

This hotel was by far the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed at. There was hair everywhere in the bathroom including on a dirty washcloth left in the shower. The door keys didn't work they finally got them working around 8pm and they reprogram keys for any room and give them to just about anyone without asking for identification. The maintenence man kept making inappropriate comments to us thus making us feel extremely uncomfortable. Even trying to find a budget friendly hotel I would have rather payed a bit more an stayed someone more sanitary.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to write this one. I frequent hotels quite often and try to get the lower priced ones so that I don’t break my budget. Thus dated hotels or rooms don’t faze me. That’s expected. If I’m paying rock bottom prices I don’t expect five star hotels. I do however, expect cleanliness and friendly, competent service. I didn’t get that. So here is my list of complaints: 1) Requested non-smoking room, was given a room that reeked of smoke. Requested another room. 2) Second room that I was given, the beds were unmade. Requested another room 3) Upon arriving at the third and final room noticed the bedspreads were dirty. I removed them immediately. One of the blankets was also dirty. Removed the blankets from both beds. 4) A section of the left hand window drape was hanging off the rod and the drape had some mysterious substance stuck to it. 5) The table had old food stuck to it. I had to wipe it clean. 6) The Microwave didn’t work. Had to have it replaced. 7) The coffee maker had no cups. Had to request from the front desk. 8) I’m assuming the room had been set up for two people because there were only enough towels for two. That fact should have been picked up by the person who gave us the room. Had to request more towels from the front desk. 9) The breakfast room doesn’t support the size of the hotel. If you want to be able to sit down for breakfast, need to make to the breakfast room before 8 o’clock.

This hotel pictures don't match the hotel. It was ok, hot water pressure was terrible and the room was dated. The overall appearance on a scale 1 to 10, would be a 4. I would not recommend this hotel. I was fooled by the pictures on Expedia. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more for a better experience. The breakfast was also terrible.

I went a few days ago. The staff was very wonderful. I don't drive. They told me what buses to catch and were to catch it at. What time breakfast was served. Where the ice machine was. My room was big and very spacious.

Room was adequate. Two bedroom, both were comfortable. Shower with Jacuzzi tub (small). If not traveling with kids may have tried. Overall right room for the value.

Hotel is nicer than you think. The price is great for what you get. The only downfall was the Wi-Fi. It was constantly going on and off. When it was on it would have horrible signal. Very frustrating but otherwise great place to stay.

Front desk personnel was very nice and quick to answer any questions we had. Only downfall was the microwave in our room didn't work, but they allowed us to use the staff one. Overall very comfortable and affordable!

Nice hotel. Good people. Wi-Fi is fast … real close to a lot of restaurants and 20 min away from busch gardens…

Dirt and ashes on the bed. Sheets weren't changed. Burn holes in both beds. VERY VERY VERY rude staff as well as them acting like you're not their priority. Dirty towels. I laid in the bed and 10 minutes later had a bug crawl on me and had a red itchy rash. 2 bugs were in the shower. This place is herrendious. Spend your money else where! This place isn't even worth close to $60 a night!

It definitely wasn't 5 star but unbeatable for the price. I would stay there again.

This is a run down hotel. When someone closes their door its loud. Came for the pool and it's murky and freezing. The sign says updated rooms. I'm still searching for the update. The staff is friendly. This hotel is more for truckers. Not for couples or families. You get what you pay for. I will not stay again.

Rooms were clean, staff was friendly, noise was at a minimum. They even had new HDMI flat screens in the rooms. Will definitely be staying again!

This is a older hotel the service at the front desk was very polite and helpful the room was nice except for the TV is out dated no flat screen and we sprayed the bed down for bugs every hotel we go to but we forgot to do so after the lining was change and we saw an ant crawling on the pillow. The hut tub was great and and working conditions but the breakfast was not so good it was very cold and the eating area and you don't have a lot to choose from only thing hot was when you make your own waffles we ended up going to I HOP instead but it's plenty places to eat and we close to the outlet mall.

Spent one nite celebrating anniversary at HoJo in Williamsburg. The spa tub king room was clean. The spa tub was in working order. The bed sheets were clean, as well as the blanket & comforter. The mattress & pillows were very comfortable — light blocking drapes made the late sleep in possible. The bath room was clean although the towels were a little thin. The front desk clerk was very polite and accomodating. I was a little skeptical about the hotel after some of the reviews on here, but I was highly pleased and totally enjoyed my stay. Plan to go back when we get a chance!

Checked in and the kids were excited so went swimming for a half hour. The pool room had maybe four chairs in it, and was dirty. That should of been my first sign to leave. When we got back to the room the kids opened the dresser draw and roaches crawled out. Need less to say we immediately checked out and found a better hotel with holiday inn. I would never recommend for any one to stay here.

Holy crap, worst traveling experience by far, read the reviews thought twice but the price was too good to pass up, what a mistake even a bigger mistake was booking the hotel with Expedia, we arrive at ten o'clock at nigh after a eight hour ride the receptionist gives gave me the keys to the room, I explained to her about my concern with the reviews, and that I wanted to see the room prior to checking in, she assured me that this was not the case, I go upstairs to a room on the third floor that had been recently renovated, the chair had a stain that was still wet, the curtains in the shower had mold about half way it was absolutely disgusting, so I went back downstairs she apologized and gave me a room several doors down surprise same crap, she apologized again and told me I should call Expedia to cancel, so I did, after canceling I asked the man to find me another room nearby, after about 15 minutes he wishes to transfer me to a department that deals with these kind of situations, next thing I hear click so I waited thinking he would call me back knowing he knew my number to no avail, so I called a second time, I give the guy my information, he says there is no information on your reservation and he can't help, I tried explaining but click, by this time it is almost midnight, so I rode down the street to a holiday Inn and paid $157 for one night, I don't know who to curse at, howard Johnsons or Expedia, I do know one thing neither one will me or my family's business again!

Room was dirty, Toilet seat was falling off, we couldn't figure out what was on the sheets, we think it may of been laundry detergent (I hope and pray). Room had a musty smell. I know we got the $59.00 on-line deal but I stayed in inexpensive hotels though out the US and at least they were clean. Unless you just need cheap I'd move on down the listing of hotels in Williamsburg. P. S. Wi-Fi was weak, very weak!

Please, even if on a budget like us, go somewhere else. Here are 10 very important reasons why, both safety and sanitary: 1) There is absolutely NO SECURITY to this building. The back doors do not lock anymore and the exterior doors that lead to stairwells are so rusted and abused that they no longer close nor lock. Anyone can gain access to the hotel, at anytime of day or night, and at multiple locations (we used the safe provided inside the room one day only to return later and find it unlocked and open), 2) The elevator was broken and had to carry our families luggage up two flights of stairs, all of it… 3) The first thing that you will notice is the horrible smell akin to an old bar with fried food and stale beer.

Horrible didn't even stay 20 minutes. Blankets in room were torn and had holes in, floors were not clean, my boyfriend's uncle got stuck in the elevators and all they did was tell us to wait. Doesn't feel safe at all. Don't go here!

Gross hotel! howard johnson williamsburg va found a dead roach in our room as soon as we got there crumps all over the carpet dust on bed headboards make up on the "clean sheets" hair in the bathtub marks of poop in the toilet mold ceiling licks free breakfast: juice and bagles thats it! unfortunately it was a 4th of july so we couldn't find another hotel, we had to spend the night there. Nex day we say the "housekeepers" they were the same 2 guys who were serving "breakfast" We saw them "cleaning" one of the rooms and that explained everything! THEY DIDNT EVEN HAVE A VACUUM WITH THEM SO THEY NEVER RUN THE VACUUM WHEN THEY DO THE ROOMS THEY LITERALLY GET IN, PUT NEW TOILET PAPER, MAKE THE BEDS, OPEN THE CURTAINS AND THE ROOM IS READY FOR THE NEXT GUEST I hope this review can help you avoid this "hotel" specially if you have kids, the entire place is just filthy. I even wonder if they ever get inspections.

This was the worst hotel I have ever been in. Our neighbors saw roaches and left immediately. Advertisement on line is wrong. Pics are taken to make the place look great. Bed was king and one side falling down (worn bad). Bed was not made well. Hotel has been painted to make it look fresh. Furniture is the original furniture, handles falling off. No hot breakfast as it was indicated in hotel room book. Asked for extra towels since we had a hot tub in room. Did not get any. Room was not cleaned while we were there. Windows were dirty, holes in the wall and parking lot not lighted well. Pool was not heated and the whole place needed to be disinfected with somekind of cleaner. Room airconditioner worked but took almost 24 hours for room to cool down like it should have been. Putting that baby grand piano in the lobby and updating the lobby does not help out the rest of the hotel. Ice machines were not working on 3 out of the 5 floors. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Horrible hotel! We booked two nights, two rooms. On the first night, we found blood on our "clean" sheets. There was no toilet paper in one of the two rooms, and no soap in the other. Neither rooms tub was in working order, but we can deal as long as the shower worked. We booked two queen rooms, yet one room only had one pillow on each bed, instead of two. The rooms appeared to have been half cleaned before our arrival. Check in is 3 pm, we didn't arrive until after 9 pm. Plenty of time to make sure our rooms are cleaned and stocked properly. The breakfast was not as described, and the man running the breakfast room quit stocking anything by 9 am. Breakfast doesn't stop until 10. The staff at the front desk was LESS than helpful. Each person we encountered for assistance acted as if we were interrupting their time. Only one man, an older gentlemen, was nice and helpful. He made sure our beds got clean sheets, free of blood. On night two, the second of two rooms had blood on the pillow cases. Needless to say, we just set that pillow aside. When we tried to contact the hotel to address these issues, we are repeatedly told the Hotel Manager is "out, and will return sometime today, you can call tomorrow. " Will NEVER stay here again, and would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. We are not picky, just ask for a clean and stocked room and a decent breakfast and service. But this was the WORST hotel and staff ever.

The worst hotel in williamsburg! roaches, dirty sheets, no buttons on the phone or cord! tub not in working order. And the manager was no where to be found until the following sat. Contacted the "customer care" to attempt to have them locate the manager and rectify the matter and remove the payment from the card and conveniently he was never located. I will contact the bbb as well as the safety and hygiene commission to begin an investigation! save your money and choose a hotel with at least a manager and a phone to contact them~.

I stayed here over the holiday weekend with my boyfriend because he had a voucher. The appearance from the outside is run-down and not very well light. It is also located next to a McDonald's and a closed clothing store. The front desk was not in uniform and it took them a good 15minutes to realize someone was standing at the desk. Once we checked in and went to our rooms, we noticed that the room had a very weird smell to it, but it once the air was turned on it went away. In fact the entire hotel had a very weird smell to it. The sheets on the bed had holes in it and we ended up sharing a single towel the entire weekend because every wash clothes was extremely stained or had public hairs on them. I did not feel safe here or trust the staff to come in and clean the room. The shower leaked and had stray hairs along the walls. We came back one evening and noticed that the dumpster was easily visible from the front door and was overflowing with trash. The breakfast consisted of cereal and white bread. The only reason we stuck it out was because it was a holiday weekend and we knew we wouldn’t be able to find a room anywhere else.

Stayed there for the weekend to look around virginia beach for my wedding coming up. Not only did they not have any reservation for us even though we booked days prior, but after they put us in a room we went to dinner came back to find out they tried to give our room away to someone else. The room was non smoking it smelled like an ashtray and mildew. Me and my fiance bought febreeze to try to mask the smell. The jacuzzi tub does not work and has a sign that says "Tub is no more oper atable. Sorry for inconvenience" the second night we had spent there we had to get our keys reactivated because while we were at the beach our room keys had been turned off. It is dirty and nasty and the service was horrible. I would rather sleep in my car than stay there again! I advise anyone who is looking into the Howard Johnson in Williamsburg, VA to save your time and money and go somewhere else.

Horrible! It made the Bate Motel look decent. The room looked as though some one was seriously injured there. There were red stains on the corner of the walls and a chunk of dry wall was actually missing. The "warmer" blanket also had a very obvious blood stain on it. This hotel is not clean. We only stayed one night because it was late and we couldn't get a reservation else where until the morning.
