The Innkeepers at Page House are not people-oriented and have no concern for what type of Hospitality should be provided at a Historic Southern Inn. Currently, guests are treated like robots and their needs are superseded by the control mentality of the proprietors. There is so much more to a welcoming environment than a bed, a door key, some store bought snacks and a strict, little more than Continental Breakfast Fare where even the coffee is rationed out. Pleasant interaction between staff and guests is customary and expected at successful Bed and Breakfasts. Rudeness resulting in guests having to forego the entirety of their stay is certainly unacceptable. The Page House is a landmark in Ghent and the furnishings there for many years have been well maintained. It is sad that the service now no longer meets the ambiance. True hospitality puts the guest first, not the innkeeper. The prior innkeepers understood that premise and offered a wonderful experience. Corporate, impersonal practices have no place in the Bed and Breakfast Industry. I hope the present innkeepers find a better place to utilize their enterprise intentions.
