Very convenient and friendly staff.

Every thing was nice best hotel in Norfolk will come back.

Dirty rooms. Non smoking smells like smoke. Trash bags in the hall. Its 10p shouldn't this be completed? No rooms left so I get a left over room with no furniture in it looks like they may be "renovating" thank God it's just one night.

The room is so very nice! Comes with so many amenities! Even gave us extra towels for the kids without asking! Such great service and people.

Worst hotel. No room service and no clean rugs when asked. My room was non smoking room but smelled back when I first entered it.

Nice hotel. The beds are comfortable, rooms are clean. Love the fact that they have options for non smoking and smoking rooms available. Room is very nice size and even came with utensils, paper towels, ice maker, detergent etc… I will definitely be staying here again. I don’t like the fact that after 9pm you can’t get into the main entrance without a key but that’s my only complaint… oh and staff is very nice as well!

I'd say I was VERY impressed with the hotel overall. I spoke to a lady on the phone to see about checking in a little earlier she was VERY nice & made it happen so that right there set a tone for the stay. First impression of the room was wow. The room we stayed in had a full kitchen a full bath. Pots, pans, soap to wash dishes a coffee pot. We expected to have 4 guests & guess what — 4 towels, 4 rags. They were very attentive to our needs & making us comfortable. I was a little weary about what the hotel was going to be like in this area but I was not let down. I will say we came from a big ocean front hotel the night before that was almost double the price we paid for this one & on any given day I'd choose a candle wood suite. 5 stars to y'all! Thank you for a great stay!

Good customer service. They got me a room at a sister hotel because my room was a smoking room and my booking agent needed up my request for a nonsmoking room. It's also a pet friendly hotel. The hotel is planned for renovations so keep an eye out for that (you can call ahead to inquire). Until renovations are completed in a given room, the rooms are a bit tired. If you have a pet or are a smoker this hotel could be a great option for you, especially if you're on a budget. Prices are comparatively low for the area.

Would not recommend. I booked reservation for my parents four days. The fan didn't work in bathroom and they don't clean the rooms if you don't stay over seven days, you have take towels down to desk to receive clean ones never again. They don't even empty the trash in the room. Bad experience for my parents. All five star were booked. Next time we will wait. Y'all getting people hard earned money really seems like y'all could do better. Thanks but no thanks.

Good, clean hotel. Shuttle to the airport. Not too far off walking distance to food. Easy Stay.

Over 1 week into a month stay. Spire Elete member used to Full Holiday Inns and I'm impressed! Good sized rooms, almost full kitchens. Nice and clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful! The shuttle is free and very nice for people who are not familiar with the area! A+

The staff was professional and extremely helpful. The issues were the following: 1) It's a extended stay suite: why is there no love seat or couch in the room? 2) I registered the room for three people: we had one bath towel. Plenty of hand towels and wash clothes but only one bath towel. 3) Advertised as having DVD in room; no DVD player but front desk staff had one they let us use. Thank you! 4) Ironing board missing; once again the extremely helpful front desk staff found us a ironing board. Thank you! Based on front desk staff I'd stay here again. Based on room amenities alone I'd stay elsewhere.

We have stayed here several times as we travel to our second hone in FL. The staff is amazing. That said several issues — every time we book a room with two queen beds. It seems to be an issue. My hubby has brain injury from Iraq and needs his own bed due to night terrors, and combative sleep. This week they gave us ONE KING bed suite. He w/o not change rooms once in so he slept on pullout. The room needs work! Dirt on wall in master suite, beside sofa someone hit and patch needs fixing. Mattress cover on pullout is nasty, I wouldn't give to anyone to use! We had made reservations to stay again in three weeks, but not sure if we will or change to another location. We are Elite status travelers, so expect a nice room every trip!

Transportation is super efficient, rooms are well furnished, and prices are fair.

This is just an average hotel that is showing her age. Nothing special, average at best. The area is not the best as well.

A good place to lay your head. The kitchen in every room makes a long term stay very reasonable and the rooms are clean and friendly. This is a chain I regularly use when I travel and one I would recommend to anyone doing the same. The prices are also reasonable for the rooms you get. I hope you enjoy your night here like I did.

Very clean and organized place. Gym has a few machines. Laundry room and detergent is free. The AC makes funny noises. Definitely a quality hotel that I would recommend to others.

I was quite impressed with the neatness of the hotel and it has really nice decor!

The cable box is behind the tv, so you have to get up behind the TV to turn the channels. They covered the messed up chair with a chair cover. We were locked out of our room the card would not open the door, and the front desk gave my husband some sorry excuse as to why we were locked out. We will not be staying here again.

I gave it only three stars because my shower was luke-warm and friends in the same hotel stated they had no hot water. Perhaps a one-time issue but something to check when you first get in your room.

Very very average room size and hygiene is an issue. Worn out carpets and AC was a noisy mess. Staff are less than courteous and the place doenst seem very safe! Housekeeping is not that great either.

Rooms are comfortable, clean. Wired internet is very respectable (2.5mbs actual speed). No breakfast, typical of extended stay locations. Full kitchen minus oven, free coffee. No parking issues, lots of construction and traffic, but that's Norfolk. Convenience store and some restruants right down the street. Not too bad a stay.

Comfortable room with all amenities. Room would have been perfect if a separate sitting area was available. Staff were very helpful. We borrowed a couple of board games from the locker. Fun times!

They have bed bugs! I woke up with bites all over my arm an neck. I found a bed bug and took a picture of it. I gave them one star but I really didn’t want to give them any.

The only thing good about this place is the customer service. They do not clean the rooms daily and the hallways are littered with trash. They do not offer breakfast and it's located right on the outskirts of the ghetto.

The staff was friendly and the rooms were good. We could get everywhere we needed to go easily.

I got a smoking room. It's not smelly and is clean. Very nice night staff. Good coffee. I'll stay at this or another again!

Awesome place. Great staff. Would have gotten a 5 but no pool or breakfast. Over all we had a great stay.

This hotel was a bit off the main drag but was a great value. Room was clean with recently redone kitchenette and bathroom complete with granite. Bed was very comfortable. Room A/C had a tough time keeping up with the humidity of midsummer, so fabrics like the carpet and sheets were a bit sticky.

The staff at this hotel is absolutely wonderful. They greeted us on our way in and out. They made us feel they really cared about us and our dog. The manager Samantha was so extra kind to our dog (Fred), and even gave me the names of dog parks in the area. I highly recommend you stay at this hotel if in Norfolk, Va.

The hotel staff is extremely friendly and will try to accommodate anything you ask (within reason). The rooms are well for she'd and quite comfortable. The kitchen is a nice addition since I will be staying for 2 months. However, there were some items missing from the kitchen that I needed​ to ask the front desk for that should have been in the room.

Room smelled when the A/c is turned on it was leaking when it is on causing the room to smell plus the front Desk Experience is lacking (had to paid another night when I told them 2 nights) does not under the customers needs will not be Back. I come this way often but I will not come back here. It may not make a Difference here just had to say it.

Great facilities for the price, nice sundry shop, rentable movies and appliances (electric grill, board games, etc), free laundry machines, ice maker in the room, the list goes on. Great place to stay. Will be staying at these places again in the future.

This hotel had trash laying in the hallways and only one person working that we could tell. We made reservations, however he acted like we just walked in. It took twenty minutes just to get our hotel keys. He had a friend in the lobby, which was extremely unprofessional. It was a very shady area overall. The two hotel rooms that we requested were doubles and he gave us tiny rooms with only one bed. Needless to say, we were not okay with our customer service and left to find a different hotel that we were comfortable staying at. Would never stay here or recommend this place to anyone.

Room is ok Furniture needs to be replaced number one. Number two took the staff an hour and a half to come in and fix the TV's so they would work got one working don't know what's wrong with the other one. And the big kicker is sometime during the night there was a power failure woke up this morning to no power I'm diabetic I'm disabled I'm in a scooter I only have one leg I'm up on the second floor. I have no food the staff can tell me how I'm going to get down and there's no back-up generator. I have never stayed in a hotel that did not have a backup generator this is ridiculous. So staff doesn't know what to do and they told me that and that is a direct quote we don't know what to do I don't have any food and I can't get out of here they can't tell me how that's going to happen either so I guess I'm going to have to call the fire department in order to be able to leave the hotel. I'm not sure if this is representative of Candlewood Suites. But do not stay at the Candlewood Suites in Norfolk just don't do it.

There was one problem when I first checked in. They accidentally put me in a dirty room. When I called the front desk, they were extremely apologetic and immediately moved me to a better room. They also offered me a gift card for the trouble, but I declined. Great staff, and great room. Would stay again.

Clean place but very noisy, and some of the guests were unruly. We just stayed for one night so it was fine but I would not recommend for longer stays.

Clean, quiet, courteous. Within walking distance of some stores and restaurants. Has a pantry on site that is cheap and has reasonable selection. I'd stay here again if the need arose.

The only problem I had was that I payed for my room and was given room key but left to go shopping. When I got back to hotel to go into my room they had given my room to someone else so I had to wait till they cleaned another room. Payed for 2 nights and they never came in to clean room when we left to go eat.

The first room I was in didnt have a TV in the bedroom and they said they weren't required to have a TV so I had to wait a hour for another room but other than that its a pretty nice hotel.

Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, large, nice, and very clean rooms. Kitchenette with full sized fridge, cook top, microwave, and dish washer. Dishes and cookware provided too. No oven, but you can borrow a toaster oven for no charge.

It's generally a good hotel. The rooms could be cleaner and better equipped but are good nonetheless.

The room was nice and clean. The location was perfect, close to shopping centers and restaurants. The only issue was there being a transfer truck facility, not exactly sure ehat it was, right behind the building. So, around 2 a. M. I was woken from the power tools. I would stay again but request the front side of the facility.

Stayed here multiple times and the staff is always accomadating and courteous. Very nice rooms and appliances and very fair rates.

Do not stay at this hotel! The hotel staff were not accessible, rude, and unprofessional. In addition to the issues with staff the hotel has a bed bug issue. My party found "live" bed bugs in their room. Pictures were shown to hotel staff and other guests also observed the bed bugs in the room. Numerous times a manager was requested but there was never a manager at the hotel or available to talk to on the phone. After contacting corporate we were told we would be issued refunds for the room. Despite follow up with them for several days and speaking with corporate only a partial refund was given. Corporate was contacted again and an investigation was completed. The hotel manager who I never talked to tried to state that there were not bed bugs at the hotel. After following up with corporate again and discussing pictures taken along with witness statement I was finally issued an apology and given a full refund (1 month later). It was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel and I will never stay at another Candlewood suites again. If you have an issue with this hotel and have to call corporate be prepared to fight to get your money back. They were 100% in the wrong. The hotel was dirty, had bed bugs, and there were no hotel staff around to help you with anything. Horrible hotel in Norfolk, VA. June 2015

The room was very clean, I loved how everytime I stay, there is always nice clean linens and towels! All around good service.

I will never stay at another Candlewood Suites Hotel again. Do not stay at this hotel. From the moment of check in staff were unprofessional and often unavailable to take care of customer needs. The air conditioner in the room did not work and it had to be fixed twice after only being in the room 2 hours. The rooms were not clean and the last straw that ended my stay was finding a bed bug crawling on the wall in my room. Myself and party I was with notified hotel staff and showed them pictures immediately and per their responses they were not surprised that bed bugs were found in one of their hotel rooms. One staff member stated "we ain't had problems on that floor" indicating that there is obviously a problem at their hotel. At no point did staff try to fully resolve this issue and offered to spray my room with bug spray and expected me to stay in there. I did not. After numerous times following up with staff and corporate I was informed that I would receive a refund for my stay. After several days I was issued a partial refund and received the run around from corporate and hotel staff. I filed a better business bureau complaint and after speaking with investigators I was finally issued a full refund 3 1/2 weeks later. Do not stay at this hotel. The hotel staff was unprofessional and they will not take care of customers or compensate you if you have an issue at their hotel.

The website lies. There is NO breakfast, the Wi-Fi goes out (prepare to hotspot your phone), room service is once a week maybe. It's like a low income apartment in a daily basis.

The rooms were nice but the front desk was inept and rude. I had to ask three times before they would even tell me if they had a continental breakfast in the morning. Ive never been treated that poorly at a hotel before. I hate to think that its was because we were a white family traveling through but it seems to he the case. The room keys they gave us didnt work even after they coded them three seperate times. It took them 20 minutes before they would come let us into the room with the master key.

Of course the first thing I did when I got to the room was pull back the sheets and inspect the mattress. No signs of bedbugs. Then I went to put my luggage away. Nice sized closet with more than enough hangers for the two of us. I looked for a place to charge our phones. Ample outlets in reach at table/counter height. I took a shower. The tub was anti-slip. Turned on the TV. Other hotels have no guide on their cable system. This was the area's cable, not a hotel-specific brand of 25 channels but the full deal. Awesome. Oh but it wasn't all roses. Checking in and checking out I asked for a luggage cart. They only have 2 and they always seem to be in use. Consider getting more of them. The bathroom didn't have a fan either. Many hotels don't, but would have made it a 5-star rating if it did. Either way, we're DEFINITELY going back when in town.

We loved this hotel, I wanted to stay on the beach, but it is better to stay away from it, (less traffic). The rooms was great and spacious. It's your home away from home, come stay here you won't regret it.

While the room was OK. The noise from the trucking business outside my window, was distracting to say the least. I was here for a funeral and while initially some payment problems were resolved. I feel that on the hotel end, they could have been a little more friendly on the phone when I called to inquire about them instead of being told, and I quote, "You can call back Monday when management is here. " I work in hospitality, this is a 24 hr. Job. Everything does not stop for weekends. I know this. So that comment was rude and even if true. Could have been answered differently. I will not be staying here again if given a choice. I would not recommend this particular hotel if asked.

I loved staying at this hotel and when I'm in town this is the only place I will stay. They have everything located in the hotel so there is really no need to leave unless its for food. I love the free washer and dryers so I can wash my clothes before going home. They have a store inside also. The beds are super comfy and the room was clean. The Wi-Fi was great and it is quiet. The hotel is very busy, but you would never know because of how quiet it is.

Found a last-minute room here during a recent trip. Was half the price of other places with the same rating, so I had some trepidation. But Tammy at the front desk was as sharp, efficient and helpful as at any front line Hilton; the room was comfortable clean and quiet with good solid furniture (and a real kitchenette! ) and excellent wireless. An excellent value.

My husband and I had a King Suite, it was wonderful. Very spacious, full size everything, My husband loved the recliner and shower head. I loved EVERYTHING! It was a great retreat, a home away from home without the kids. Also excellent service. Shout out to suzanna night clerk, she was terrific.
