I read the bad reviews on TripAdvisor and our room is great. No issues. This is a beach hotel after all. Near food, near beach, near walmart and SAMs, near a neighborhood market. Everything you need in the is area. Good security at the hotel and the staff is very helpful.

This was the WORST hotel we have ever stayed in!
Don’t expect to get any sleep if you book here. The air conditioning rattled so loudly that the walls shake. The hotel is falling apart and carpet is stained with blood and other filthy substances. The kitchenette is useless because the equipment doesn’t work and there is no washing liquid provided to clean up with. The shower changes from scalding hot to freezing cold. The beds are awful with springs digging into your back. The general smell of the place is moldy.
We managed to get a refund after the first night and have found a better option just across the road for only a little more $$. It’s worth spending the extra $$$ I promise you!

The staff as well as the management is awesome here. They are friendly, curtious, fast and as well they do message u on your cell to welcome u as well and to see how u are liking your stay. There are alot of hotels that don't do that, but this hotel does.

I have been to 16 countries and 47 cities around the world and this is categorically the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.
We booked a double room and were told we had a room with 3 single beds bolted to the wall. The safe didn't work. The aircon sounded like an aeroplane was taking off and the shower had mold in it. When we complained about it we were told bad luck and deal with it.
It took my travel agent to call their head office to organise putting us in a double room that didn't have mold in it and they made it as if they were doing us a favour.
The gym is tiny and the pool is even smaller.
I wouldn't even come back to this place if they paid for my flights.
If you're spending the money to come here, dont cheap out on this hotel.

This place is amazing for people with a family! The staff here is top notch. Yes the rooms are dated and could use some fixing up but don’t let that deter you they are clean and well kept. The pool is the perfect size and if it’s not the beach is maybe 3 blocks away. The one thing I can’t stress enough about this place is the staff though the are GREAT! If you need anything they will help you from the security guard the suggested dukes which was fantastic to just the great conversations with the others love this place would totally come back! — с Brianna Salekin.

Ridiculous resort fee of $25, — a night for a way too small pool and “fitness center” I NEVER used. Moreover the hotel smelled and was very outdated. Stay away!

Very busy hotel with lots of Asian guests. Staff could not of been any more helpful and nice. Enjoyed our stay.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
VERY DATED hotel and awful smelling bedding! The paint on walls were peeling and the "kitchenette"… who would want to cook in there!? Again dated and gross. Then the parking… where do I even begin!? First they have like 19 floors to this hotel and parking barely enough for one floor. Then they charge $25 for parking per day and the sell out of the spots to sell. So we spent a considerable amount of time driving around looking for parking or parking and walking FAR. We only spent two days/ nights there but I wanted to leave the moment we stepped in the door.
Lastly, we are military and stayed there when we PCSd to HI and when we went to checkout the front desk had no idea how to complete a NON-AVAILABLILTY form. They kept telling us we need to get a typed up letter signed by my husband's command… he hasn't even checked in and had no such letter. We had the letter from the Hale Koa stating that there was non availability in their hotel and we could stay under orders elsewhere. But they still didn't want to take it. Finally, days are we checked out I got in contact with a manager who finally knew what to do with my letter. All in all, I'd rate them 0 stars if I could. But they did have a computer for guests to use… that's the only plus I can find. Stay across the street at the Holiday Inn and save yourself a headache and being grossed out.

Just back from 2 weeks in the Ambassador Hotel in Waikiki the Location is fantastic the front desk staff are really lovely and really enjoyed the pool, they have a laundry room and a gym which are fine the lifts are terrible there are 3 lifts only 2 were working then we were down to only 1 working so when your on a high floor it’s a nightmare waiting on the lift they did fix the 2nd lift after a couple of days. Now what I think is really strange you can only walk down to the 2nd floor then you have to take a lift because the alarms go off God help the people on the second floor that have to wait for a lift. The main problem was the room it was very outdated and not very clean there was Mold every where, the ceiling in the shower was full of black mold and paint peeling everywhere there was sticky tape holding a bit of wall up, the air conditioner was dreadful so so noisy and absolutely filthy and the buckets on the balcony collecting the water from it and most of the time wasn’t working properly, The maid took out the rubbish left clean towels and made the beds but in 2 weeks Didnt change the sheets or clean anywhere.

It was never a trouble to ask these two lovely staff any questions or concerns I had. Extremely approachable and friendly unlike a couple of other staff members. Great stay however. This is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at! Let me count the ways for you
1-our first night there, we found a ROACH in our room
2-slowest elevators on earth — would take 5-7 mins
3-horribly uncomfortable beds
4-The A/C it was only a window unit, that they used a bucket for out on the balcony to catch the dripping water. They never emptied the water so our balcony was flooded the entire time
5-The staff is highly incompetent
6-didn’t even have a bath tub of but a Disgusting stand up shower
7 — there were kids smoking POT/WEED on the balcony
8-they OVERCHARGED me $414! With only the promise and NO paperwork that it would be refunded to me.
9 — they then called the police on me, because I was getting mad at that they overcharged me. And wouldn’t do anything about it
My kids and I would have been better off in a tent on the beach.

The room was clean. The view was cool the staff was GREAT all in all I really liked it.

Check in was slow, only 2 people working the desk. Good location to a lit of shopping, restaurants and the beach. Room is what you pay for. Not fancy or luxurious but comfortable. Check out was very quick.

For the price we got, it wasn't too bad of a staycation, an old hotel in a great location that needs to be renovated & updated, rusty appliances, shower curtain rod was rusty-cost less than $5 @ WalMart, cheaper if buy bulk from a supplier, had a brand new 2-head shower head, but the nobs are old, we found it hilarious that the cold water faucet on the sink was on the left & the hot was on the right, this is America, not a foreign country, and the occasional smell coming up the sinks tell us the pipes are old too. The cabinets, tiles, rugs are worn, but so were the apartments we rented for $1400 a month in Aiea & Salt Lake. We can see visitors complaining, prices are cheaper in the mainland USA, paradise is not cheap, we have to import everything, and we get penalized for it, a gallon of milk costed us $2.99 in California, here it's $5.99. But hey, we were charged higher for resort fees in California, Las Vegas, Arizona than in Hawaii & we had to pay for Internet. Sometimes you win some & sometimes you don't. The owners of Ambassador need upgrade this hotel and once they do more customers or residents will come & the quantity of visitors is always beneficial for the bottom line. What's that saying, "takes money to make money". Shut down for 3 months & you'll see how many people miss you when they have to pay twice as much at other hotels.

Staff was nice. I originally asked for 1 room with 1 king/queen bed with partial ocean view. Was given 1 room with 2 queen beds. My husband and I was unsure of the young man understood me or not. Also, the parking fee came to a surprise to us. Wi-Fi was not working well for us. The AC left huge puddles on our deck which we regularly cleaned during our week we stayed. Overall, just because the staff was nice I still give you guys a 3 star.

Great location and value. Helpful and friendly staff. Gorgeous views. Had an amazing time! I would say that the decor is slightly outdated but, to have such a good value compared to the higher cost of other hotels nearby it’s a small price to pay.

I stayed at Waikiki Gateway which is literally a 1 minute walk, much much better and CHEAPER! Very disappointing. Ramada is also much much more decent looking. Total rip off! Update I changed rooms a little better but still it is too old looking and too expensive for what you get. Stick to Ramada or Waikiki Gateway.

I’m a big believer in you get what you pay for. The service was great but the hotel itself was quite run down; shower blocked after use for a good half hour or so, no dish washing liquid, tea, coffee, milk or sugar. Light bulb was out. Lots of noise out and about but in saying that Waikiki is constantly on the go.
I can not fault the staff as they were welcoming, friendly and accommodating.

5 star all the way, what can I say. I highly recommend the Ambassador Hotel Waikiki. Older hotel for the area but clean, fresh, well maintained, friendly and inviting. All the staff on every level from guest services to the maintenance man were excellent, always cheerful and smiling. My room was self-contained with a comfy bed. Location was very good public transport at door with major shopping centres 10-minute bus ride and a variety of restaurants within walking distance. Waikiki beach easy 10-minute walk. I Have stayed in other hotels in the centre of Waikiki on previous visits that were 3 times the price and wouldn't I give those hotels one star. Overall the best customer service experience I have with accommodation in Waikiki.

Awesome 4 night stay! Staff was welcoming and always had a smile on their faces-especially a manager by the name of Isabelle! She provided excellent service and was a pleasure to meet and talk to! We stayed on the 17th floor and the views were amazing! The room was a little outdated but it was cozy. I highly recommend this hotel to any traveler on a budget.

I was sadly disappointed with this hotel. I payed extra for a "partial ocean view" and the window in my room was looking in the opposite direction of the ocean towards a bunch of buildings. When I complained about this to the front desk they explained that the "partial ocean view" is from the front door. There are no windows in the room facing that direction. It's just a catwalk to get to your room. I can't believe they charge extra for a small view of the ocean when you leave your room. In addition to this, I payed for a King bed and got two fulls. Other major issues: *The shower was very dirty. *The chairs had cigarette burns in them (this is a non-smoking room). *The entire room was outdated. *There was a strange musty smell. *The front door didn't shut completely from the outside — I had to use my room key to wiggle the handle in order to get the door to shut. *They charge an extra "convenience fee" plus extra for parking. I will not stay at Ambassador Hotel again.

I am currently staying in the hotel and found it very disappointing, as the room doesn’t reflect the photos I saw on there website. We arrived and the room has had maintenance issues, like the light lamps weren’t working, they were actually broken. The air conditioner doesn’t to be clean & drips water on the carpet and the wall is rotting from the air conditioner. I couldn’t get into my room as the locked the door and had to wait 30mins for a maintenance person to fix it. The…n the next day the sliding door which we couldn’t open as the lock broke and called the maintenance person to fix, as we couldn’t go out on the balcony.
We went out for the day shopping and thought we would bring our purchases back and then head off for lunch. We found the housekeeper standing outside and tells us the door won’t open as the battery had died and needed replacing. Another 20min wait and a further 20mins for the maintenance person to fix the issue. The room is old and furniture is dated, they patched wholes but haven’t sanded the gaps nor painted. They have a kitchen with only 2 plates, no coffee machine or kettle. 1 thin towel for each person, you have to search for a pool towel, and not readily available at the pool. I paid $3400 to stay for 18nights and I feel like I am in a backpackers hotel. It’s overpriced and would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Excellent. You get 2 hours of daily bike graciad which is more than well you can travel parts of the island. They give you small canteens re gift for the water features cold water machines to fill them up the place is beautiful the view to the beach too. Very friendly all and if you have to leave you can drop the bags until another day. Recommended.

Location is okay. Price was also okay for Honolulu. Zimmer was very busy.

Not the nicest hotel out there, but probably not the worst. It's in need of updating. Our room has painted cinder block walls, new looking carpet, adequate beds, 1980s beach style table and chairs and dresser, a kitchenette area with stove and microwave but no coffee maker, a bathroom with rust in places on the wall, a closet with a safe, and a balcony. No sign of bugs. Everything is clean. It's pretty cheap. A few things I thought were interesting: The ironing board has the iron tethered to it which makes it hard to iron. There is a convenience store and coffee and tea shop right outside the lobby. Parking is $25 a day. Amenities fee is $20 a day. Includes a water bottle. There is a hydration station in the lobby to refill your water bottle. They put carpet down the hallway that is partially exposed to the outdoors. This has left is stained and nasty looking.

Big Room. Hotel in the process of remodeling and renovation. Good location. Close to the beach and the branded shopping area.

Hotel is older but staff work hard to take care of their guests. Good location. Very good price. Easy to walk everywhere you would want to go.

My experience at this hotel was excellent. I had the opportunity to go with part of my family. And it all seemed very good. Good price good service they keep everything neat and they are always attentive to answer your questions.

The hotel needs a serious amount of upgrading. It's old, tired, the rooms smell mouldy. Last time (Jan 2017) we were given a room in there smaller tower, they had slight views of the ocean but were old, smelled terrible, were poorly furnished and the flooring had seen much better days. The hall carpeting was stained, the door to the room had to be physically slammed shut and being near the elevator we got to hear all the loud late night partyers coming back. Our colleague, a new guest to the hotel, got a corner suite upgrade at check-in. The room, much bigger and nicer — had a great view and didn't smell. When we spoke to the front desk about the condition of our room, management stated, "we are at full capacity right now, next time you stay with us we will make sure you get a nice room". Which, is exactly what they told us the year before, and the year before that. It feels like they expect most guest to visit once, and could not careless. If you read reviews they often state that would make every effort to make the next experience a better one… But don't. In general, staff were very nice, but the hotel itself is over priced considering the poor quality.

Internet not working, not very clean…

It's ok and needs to be updated but sufficient for the price. We loved the full kitchen. However know that you can either get a room with a full fridge or a room with a bathtub, not both. Beds are comfy. Room is clean but definitely run down.

I'm giving this hotel 5 stars simply because it met every expectation that I PAID FOR. The parking was good, the location was outstanding, the rooms were clean, the service was attentive, and the staff were nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the center of the city. You will not regret it.

Definitely the worst hotel I have ever seen so far. The drawer so dirty that I kept my clothes in my suitcase. The ventilation in the bathroom can not be controlled and works always at maximum power. Because of this the whole room is drafty. The doors are very old and it is not possible to close them without a big bang. You will always notice when you're neighbours are leaving or coming back. There is also no breakfast. The only good thing: The beds and bathroom appeared to be clean. To sum it up: I stayed in a hostel the week before. The hostel was better and much cheaper!

We always like to stay here when we come through Waikiki. The rooms are awesome. The kitchenettes are so handy for long term stays. The front desk ladies even remembered my name. I never spend time waiting in a line. Parking was a breeze. It's in the best location downtown. The hotel feels like a safe and secure space. We once forgot to shut our door and went to dinner. While we were gone nothing was stolen. It such an awesome place. We stay here always whenever we are in town from doing potato work.

Convenient location in Waikiki. Rooms are simple but comfortable with kitchenette. Staff are helpful and friendly. Definitely a good budget option.

It was a terrible experience. Cockroaches on the fridge, the night stands, the chairs, THE BED! And when I called the front desk they simply sent a maintenance man up with a Raid bottle. When I called a second time after finding them in bed again I asked to move rooms, which Is what they should have done for me in the first place. They said we'll send maintenance up, to which I replied they had alr day sent them. Then they said they would call me back they had to speak to their manager. Oh and there were things people had forgotten. For example bras and personal hangers.

The rooms have kitchen and fridge which. It makes it very comfortable and economical for those who prefer to have more days of stays and less meals outside. The people are very friendly and helpful.

Got a really good price, well I thought we did. Upon arrival we got hit up for an additional $250! Part of that was for parking, oh you can only have 1 car per room, then there was $100 cleaning deposit. I've never heard of such a thing. We were supposed to have a partial ocean view but I can't find it. (calling about that now. ) Room does have a largish kitchen and a decent balcony with nothing on it, no chairs nothing. Not real happy and would think twice before booking again.

In Waikiki, this place is average to nice. I've stayed at about 30 different hotels here (traveling over from Kauai for medical appointments), and I've stayed at better and worse. I love the kitchen and sometimes ending up in an apartment-like room here, but it is dated and needs some repairs. For what you pay here, it's right at the 3-star rating. Most (if not all) hotels charge for amenities and parking here as a way to make some profit in this highly competitive market, but it does suck that it often comes as a surprise to people after a long day of traveling. It's clean, is located next to a coffee shop and a convenience store, and is centrally located near the business district, shopping, clubs, and nightlife of Waikiki. Most of the big hotels in this price range are very similar but a lot of them lack the kitchen, so I'm always happy when I get a good deal here!

This place really sucks. I don't even know where to begin. This service is terrible, the bathroom was badly in need of repair, there was actually a hole in the wall, the internet did not work, nobody helps you bring your bags up to the room comma the elevator was very dirty and does not fit the baggage cart so you have to bring all your own bags up to the room comma the room was non-smoking butt smells like dirty feet comma the bathroom was terrible, and those were the best things I could think of about the hotel.

I have had several stays at different hotels at Waikiki and here I had the worst experience. I would rate zero star if that is an option. The only thing I can possibly compliment about this so-called 3-star motel, yes, motel, is the location. The facilities are old, but it is understandable for its relatively lower pricing (I paid about $200 for a room for three). What can't be tolerated was the lack of proper maintenance and cleaning. My room had a damp moldy smell and I had found rust on the refrigerator. The AC unit in my room was extremely loud, but it has to be left on or the room would be hot as a sauna. Just imagine sleeping next to a lawn mower. They do have a gym, a business center and swimming pool, but not free of charge as they may advertise on different websites — every guest will be charged an amenities fee upon checking in, even when you check in after they are all closed and won't use them at all. Please avoid this place.

The non-remodeled rooms are very run-down and not pleasant to come back to after being out around town and on the beach. The staff is friendly and helpful though, and allowed us to see other rooms to find a better one. One floor had been remodeled, and they allowed us to move to one of those at no additional cost. The hallways to the remodeled rooms is still not attractive, but the room itself is very nice to stay in.

The rooms, bathrooms and furniture are old-fashoned. The first room we got was dirty, with spots on the whitish paint of the walls. We asked to have another one which was barely acceptable. The location is fine but other than that I recommend looking for other hotels in the area there's plenty of them in Waikiki which are way better.

I stay there for 5 nights (07/15/15-07/20/15), they charged 20$ a days for daily resort fees which I did not know when I booked thru Hawaiian Air, then on the final night, I rented a car, the next morning when checking out, they hit me with 25$ for parking… OMG (we stay there and have no right to park? so ridiculous) … really pissed. Never again…

Unexpected additional extra charge of 30USD/Nite! for >12YO children.

I stayed in this hotel for a family trip. The hotel service was very unprofessional, impolite and inpatient. I had problem with my Wi-Fi, so I asked front desk for help. I want to confirm the access code, which they refused and said " the code we give you is correct" without give 5 seconds to listen to what I have. Then I described the error message I get, and she said " Ma'am, we never had problem with out Wi-Fi", and HUNG UP ON ME, literally. I couldn't believe a front desk would ever do that to their guest who desperately needs some help. And when I called attendant and asked to speak to manager, they asked my name and transfer me to my room (I was calling using my cellphone). The service is unbelievablely bad. Please be aware when you stay.

Nothing more and nothing less. Good location to reach in 15 min walk to the beach and bus stop 10. Very convenient is the presence of a small kitchen to self-govern lunches/dinners/breakfasts (microwave, fridge, cooker).

The staff, especially the manager, were extremely courteous! We had a mix up with another hotel and were left without a place when we landed at 10:30pm. Called and they had a spare room we could have! The manager said he felt bad and so he dropped the amenity fee for us as well as telling us about where we could find food even at such a late time. Great hospitality.

We bought a pakage on Hawaiian airline and we get to the hotel and they charged us 427 more the the 1500 we pais.

Most hospitable staff! Simple, clean rooms. No coffee maker. BUT 10 steps out of the lobby is a Coffee, Tea and Leaf. Better coffee than I could make in a hotel room. Kitchen room has a fridge that is 5 ft tall. :) Strong Wi-Fi in room is part of the $20 hotel fees. $25 parking fee worth the headache of finding parking in busy Waikiki. Water bottle filling station + free collapsible water bottles and laundry room was a BIG hit for this soccer family! Next budget trip, we'd like to stay again. Internet specials made it a steal.

The ambassador is a total joke. The a c did not work and the room smell like someone took a piss. The bathroom floor was very dirty. The stove was rusty. And for 145, 00 a night people are getting rips off. Do your homework before you book the ambassador. And the Wi-Fi is not secure so beware when you use their Wi-Fi.

As soon as we entered our room we were severely dissapointed to see that the accomodation was far from as described and visualised in photos. We were guaranteed a double bed and kitchenette but instead were given three single beds and a kettle with no mugs or spoons. Within minutes were killing cockroaches. The beds are hard and springy, the bathroom is less than average. The air con system is out dated and loud. Apart from all the negatives the concierge staff are very friendly and welcoming so that will save them from a one out of five star rating.

Housekeeping was a hassle, we had to tell the front desk several times that our room has not been looked after, the drainage in our shower was clogged so we would be standing in 4 inches of water as we showered daily, we found a pair of men's briefs under our beds — when we told the front desk no apologies they reacted as if it was something that occurred very often. For the price we paid it was NOT worth it, for places in the Honolulu definitely recommend going to well recognized places such as the Marriot or Holiday Inn. Definitely gave me a bad taste in my mouth for customer service and hospitality in Hawaii.

Stayed here for 11 nights, was given a complimentary upgrade to a room with kitchen which was nice. Location was great for public transport and easy access to shops and beach and room was good for the price. Only negative for me was Wi-Fi only available in the lobby, internet access in the rooms is via ethernet cable only.
