Oakwood at 930 Poydras Apartment

The best place to live in the CBD! Nothing comes close — — the staff, the facilities, the sky lobby, Starbucks coffee every morning in the lobby… and it is SO safe! Love this place!

The internet is really slow no matter what you get. DSL and cable both have issues. We have the highest cable internet package available, but only receive download speeds of 10Mb/s and upload of around 3Mb/s. It's even lower with lower speed packages. The washer and dryers are really bad, you can't even get your socks out unwrinkled (I don't iron my socks, but even small articles come out looking like it's made from crepe fabric). The management lists apartments as 2 br, but the second bedroom in the 2br/1br apartments do not have windows, they are more of an office. Keep that in mind if you are going to look at an apartment. The building is okay, but you can hear neighbors yell through the walls and if your neighbor has a dog, you will be able to hear it. Some business on the corner plays really loud music on thursdays, which you can hear in all apartments that don't face the pool. Most of the apartments listed on their website have been unfilled for months, many residents moving out to the paramount or waiting until the Beacon opens. They relist the apartments each month, making it look like the exodus is monthly, rather then them being unable to fill the apartments. They installed blinds, but these let in a lot of light still. Can see people in their apartments from the pool. Small kitchen area, not much storage, but the apartments are small. The lobby is often blocked off for events. A LOT of people from Shell, movies, and offices that are set up in here.

Avoid this place like the plague. Over the past few months former tenants have been moving out in droves.

Advantages — — clean place, they do background checks on who lives here so it feels safe, great lobby cons — — management staff is not open to suggestions, the main lobby is often closed off for private events which means you can't even go into your own lobby (shows that the 930 poydras LLC cares more about their profit margins in renting out their lobby than their own renters), you park at a garage owned by premium parking which overall is run by uneducated delinquents (if the gate malfunctions you will Make 3 phone calls that will make you 15 minutes late to work and pay $20 that you will never get back…) the washers/driers are terrible. If you face poydras street, beware of loud noise.
