I actually got married here 4 years ago! Hotel worked amazing with my wedding planner, food was amazing, venue was perfect. The hotel and staff were so nice, and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect and that not only I was happy, but my guests too.

Beautiful hotel in downtown Lawrence. The staff is exceptional. The lobby and bar have a great vibe.

A fun place to have breakfast & then watch The Old Fashioned Christmas Parade! The bonus is a beautifully well maintained piece of history!

This is our second year celebrating Thanksgiving at the Eldridge Hotel. The buffet is exceptional, excellent service, and the ambience is festive. If you haven't tried the Eldridge Hotel for Thanksgiving, I highly recommend!

I've tried coming here for a drink or brunch 3 times and was treated like I didn't belong here. Bartenders were very rude and condescending to myself and 3 others in my party. I'm done trying to get good or even decent service here. Such a shame for such a beautiful place.

Late arrival for me on this stay. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff was courteous. Historic building but room was loaded with modern amenities. Beds were comfortable and I have to say that the towels and linens were amazingly soft. (I’ve never been able to say that)
I recommend The Eldridge if you are ever in the area.

Stayed in a queen suite. It was very clean and equipped with a mini fridge and microwave. Beds and pillows are A+. Grace at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. Someone put a large box of hangover remedy outside of my room and when I enquired about it, she explained that there was a wedding party in this weekend and she moved me to a quieter floor. No noise, great beds, clean and great front desk and valet.

The hotel is pretty from what you can see. Everything was closed down due to renovation so the only thing available is your room. Sad part of that story is that they're still going to charge you full price although there's nothing extra that comes with the hotel at this point. I was very disappointed with my stay there.

Warning friends! Last weekend I went to the Eldridge hotel in Lawrence, KS for a fun girls weekend. Unfortunately, some Ray Ban sunglasses were stolen out of my car by the hotel valet. Although, losing a pair of fairly expensive sunglasses would be irritating in its own right, the hotel's response to the theft elevated the incident to another level of disappointment. When I politely confronted the front desk staff, the initial patronizing response was "Are you sure they're no…t the pair on your head? ". The initial reaction was not an isolated incident and multiple follow-ups with staff were required to try to amicably resolve the dispute. After further investigation, staff confided that the suspected valet had a previous history of joy riding in guests cars and petty theft from other employees. Despite this history, management is still refusing to replace or reimburse my lost property and I have been forced to file a police report. It's an extremely disheartening response from a long standing hotel chain that I've enjoyed staying at over the years and I caution anyone who considers staying at the Eldridge or Oread hotels in the future to think about what they may be going through in your room if they treat your cars this way.

Beware of the valet at this hotel. My daughter-in-law had a pair of ray-ban sunglasses stolen from her car by the valet. This guy didn't even bother to hide his actions. The sunglasses were in a compartment which he opened and rifled through in order to help himself to someone else's property. He left the compartment open so when my daughter-in-law got into her car moments later she could easily see what had happened. She immediately reported it to the front desk clerk who was rude and condescending to her. No action was taken by this hotel. The desk clerk offered to email his manager to see what steps he should take on behalf of my daughter-in-law. Email? Hours later he still had not taken any action. In the end, we received nothing from this hotel and were told to file a police report. In hindsight, my daughter-in-law should have just bothered the police with this that very night and perhaps something would have actually been done on her behalf. So. There is a petty thief working valet at the Eldridge. Be cautious. It's not enough to put your belongings in a compartment.

I was very impressed with the Eldridge! My family and I (2 adults and 2 children) stayed in a suite with 2 queen beds and there was more than enough room for all four of us. The room was very clean, decorated nicely and very comfortable. The staff was friendly, too! It is in a great location, right on Mass Street, within walking distance of so many restaurants, shopping and fun things to do with the kids. The Eldrigde is a must!

Patrick went above and beyond to ensure I enjoyed my stay in Lawrence. I asked him a quick question about when the galleries in the arts district opened and he was unsure. I went to drop some things in my room and returned downstairs to just go roam aimlessly. I was shocked when he called out to me, as I was heading out the door, because he had looked up the opening times for all the galleries and wrote them on a map of Lawrence. Seriously, I have stayed in hotels all across the country and beyond, and this is the single greatest act of thoughtfulness I have encountered, by a mile! If I were the owner/manager I would ask Patrick for his input in all matters related to guest experience AND give him a raise to prevent him from being stolen away by another operation.

I was an overnight guest and loved it. The room was phenomenal and updated. The staff were great. Construction was ongoing in the hotel during my stay so I was unable to see the hotel in its entirety. However, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The room was very well layed out, clean, and the staff was friendly.

Nice bed, but poor water pressure, elevators were sketchy, and lobby staff was minimal and unengaged. Shocked me because The Oread was wonderful. Hard to believe they gave the same owners.

Stayed the night before my wedding. Room was great. No HD channels if that matters to you.

Front desk staff were very helpful and courteous. It Was a bit loud with construction and renovations, but largely a good experience.

Great location, check-in was easy. Room was large with comfortable furniture.

It is a little loud, but they provide sound machines, and the most amazing pillows I have ever slept on in my life!

Had a good stay. Was a bit noisy but they have ear plugs for it.

The accomidations were wonderful, and the staff was very friendly. It felt suitably posh, and was a highlight on my trip to Lawrence.

One of the oldest buildings in town. Remodeled a few years ago. Changed into a hotel and a restaurant. Even has a salon at the basement. Has the best location to stay if you are going to have your business in town.

Ate in restaurant. Service was the only thing that was great. Bread over day old. Streak burger not great. Pastrami meat self only the meat was good. We will not go back.

Had lunch at 10, service and food was very good. Have always had a good experience at 10 and at the bar over the past 15 or so years.

Had brunch here and it was my worst brunch experience. Cold toast, cold eggs, cold potatoes, etc.

I definitely enjoyed my view and the friendly staff providing the fascinating history that has accompanied the Eldridge Hotel.

Great bar and comfortable atmosphere. Lots of student employees that were great to talk with. They cared about doing a good job.

I love Thursday martini night — — the drinks are delicious, and the staff is always friendly. We reserved a table for 12 to celebrate the end of our first year of grad school — the hostess had our table ready for us and everyone was extremely patient with our large party.

Quantrill burned it down, but the hotel and restaurant was rebuilt and reopened in 1925, which gave Lawrence, Kansas, its symbol, the Phoenix. The hotel is early 20th century elegant, well-maintained and classy. We had the annual Thanksgiving buffet today — shrimp and salmon, as well as turkey, prime rib, and all the trimmings, as well as the traditional desserts.

Went to The Eldridge Hotel for the Thanksgiving Day buffet dinner. Parking was easy, employees were friendly, and the food was incredible. There were three meats made available, ham, turkey and prime rib, the prime rib was out of this world. There were a number of side dishes and salads, fruit and desserts, a couple of the side dishes are the only reason why this rating is a 4 and not a five, but all in all, my experience with this buffet dinner was well appreciated, and for $30 bucks, you can't beat that. Thank you to all the staff at the Eldridge who worked hard on this Thanksgiving Day.

Great food, great staff, great feel.

The hotel & restaurant are beautiful and the menu was varied & unique. I think there's problems with the service. Our server seemed somewhat overwhelmed & could be been more attentive.

Beautiful venue on Mass St. Catering was nice and attentive. Great venue for a networking event.

Brunch with family was the occasion, my first time for the breakfast menu. There were selections to please each guest at our table. The presentations were lovely, the food delicious. Two of us had Bagels and Lox, two chose the French toast and last but not least was a skillet breakfast. We all agreed we would order our selections again. Service was excellent and our server most attentive.

They have some pretty good drink specials and classy atmosphere. The live music while we were there was nice, there was a guy playing acoustic guitar and banjo.

Nice very elegant place. Enjoyed a great meal and a meeting.

Hotel was nice and in a good location on the main Street. Beds were uncomfortable and if you sleep two people in them, you roll to the middle. Suite rooms are good for a family.

One of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at. Conveniently located on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence, it boasts spacious rooms and spacious bathrooms with 2 Tv's in each room and a friendly staff. Even though I arrived at the hotel in the middle of the night, my check-in was seamless and painless. My room (and bathroom) was spacious and super clean. Most of all, the pillows and the bed were extremely comfortable. The hotel also has two on-site restaurants. I didn't eat there but I have been reliably informed that the food at both restaurants is divine. I would stay at the Eldridge again, and again, and again… you get the picture.

The bar and restaurant both have good vibes. It is nice to find an adult bar in a college town. Serice and food are top notch.

The hummus platter (especially for the happy hour price) was wonderful. The mushroom risotto was ok. You should be able to see/taste mushrooms in a mushroom risotto. I did request more mushrooms and they brought them quickly but it was lacking. The roasted chicken was just ok.

Dropped in for the breakfast buffet before Christmas Parade. We were a party of 9 with no reservation, yet, they were so accommodating! Great food, attentive wait staff, comfortable surroundings and my family made a 5 star experience!

Had dinner at Ten. The wine list is expansive, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is relaxing. A great place to dine with friends and family. Head across the hall to the bar if you want a more lively atmosphere.

Hotel lobby and room clean and comfortable. The elevator was broken when we arrived but was fixed shortly thereafter. Noisy air conditioning!

Great location, wonderful accommodations, and the valet service removes any stress of finding parking in downtown Lawrence. I highly recommend The Eldridge to anyone looking for top-notch lodgings in Lawrence.

Always enjoy taking out of town friends and family for drinks and food at The Jayhawker. We can usual catch a game, and enjoy the historic ambiance of the building.

We were in town for a concert that was just across the street, so the location was perfect. The room was a single king bed, very comfortable, and plenty of pillows. Overall great stay, definitely recommended.

Hotel was fairly expensive and the room was pretty ratty. The bed was amazing. The staff always seemed too busy and we waited for a number of things for longer than we should have. They also do not offer discounts to guests attending weddings at the hotel.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. The bed and pillows were as comfortable as any upscale hotels I've slept in the past several years. The restaurant and bar offer solid food options, a good wine list, and I'm told by people who've stranded that the Sunday brunch is quite outstanding.

Everything about this place was fantastic.

Great accommodations, very nice room with high ceilings and amazing bathroom. A little pricey for the night but worth the money.

I will say that my initial contact with the hotel service was excellent. The man at the front desk, Brad, could not have been more friendly or helpful. I booked the honeymoon suite for my wife and I following our wedding reception, and Brad brought a luggage trolly to our car at the valet service area and helped us load all of our wedding presents. However, the room wasn't so great. I'm not sure why it's called a honeymoon suite because it's just a small room with a bed, a chair, and a couch. Generally, there is at least a whirlpool tub in even the cheapest of honeymoon suites. Also, many upper end hotels, like the Raphael in Kansas City, will leave complementary champagne and chocolate, or at least that was my experience during a regular stay there (wish I would have gone back). Finally, the worst part was the bed. I've slept on more comfortable mattresses at 2 star hotels. I was awoken after about a solid 3 hours of sleep because of hip pain due to that squeaky old mattress. I also woke up with a random attack of indoor allergies, and I'm assuming it's probably from all of the dead skin stored in that old mattress. It didn't help that there was no cover sheet for the mattress, just top sheets and blankets (gross). So I finally gave up on sleeping around 5am and thought I would have some coffee, but there wasn't even any complimentary coffee in the room. There was a coffee pot and a plate full of sweet n low packets, but no coffee.

My husband and I reserved The Eldridge Extended for our wedding April 23, 2011. We had both the wedding ceremony and reception there. Let me start off with: The GOOD. The Eldridge/Oread Wedding Planner was very poised, fashionably dressed, organized and professional. She took a lot of the stress out of the set up process, in terms of narrowing down choices and ironing out the details. The Wedding Planner set up food tastings for my husband and I; took us on tours of the available facilities, (including the Oread, our original choice, until room size posed a problem). I was confident that she had everything under control. The FOOD on my wedding day was absolutely fabulous! I can't say enough about the quality, presentation, temperature; it was perfect! My guests raved over the food and I was very pleased about that. The ROOMS were awesome! We reserved the entire main floor and a bridal suite, which accommodated us perfectly. The rooms, staircase and over sized windows photographed very well. The wedding pictures turned out great! Our over night stay was quiet, peaceful and comfortable. The BAD. The Eldridge/Oread Wedding Planner advised me two weeks before the wedding, that she would be off work and out of town on my wedding day. But she assured me that her "Assistant" would be there to take her place and carry out all of our plans. I was introduced to the "Assistant" who said there would be no worries.

Really nice place in excellent location.

The room was fine in regards to size and cleanliness, but the problem we had was that we had a room that looked out to Massachusetts St. And there were no privacy blinds except for some venetian blinds that didn't keep the light out. It was like sleeping with the lights on in the room. Also the noise in the hallways was very evident with people talking as they walked by late at night. The location is great, the anbiance is good, but the light in the room was horrible. I would stay again if they did something about that.

Very nice hotel. Room was spacious, clean, and very nice. They even had a sleep machine by the bed to cut down on any noise. Definitely would stay there again.
