Great place in the center of the KU campus — views are amazing.

Beautiful hotel, but lousy service. Had no heat in our room, and they pretty much just ignored us. Then, when we returned to Emporia we discovered that the valet had taken MY Toyota keys out of the cupholder when he valet parked my friend's Honda. I called the Oread to see if they had my keys, and the valet had them… They pretty much ignored that, also… and it took THREE phone calls and EIGHT days for my keys to be mailed… Lawrence to Emporia is 70 miles. They should have driven them down to me. It was their error. When the keys arrived, there was no note… not "Sorry for the inconvenience" "Please come again" "Thank you for your business"… nada. For a $300+ room, it was a disappointment. A couple of weeks later I received a $25 gift card. Wow.

Had a reservation tonight. We got our email confirmation for the room. We drove 2 hours too watch the KU game. We get there 1 hour before the game starts and has paid to use the hotel shuttle. We arrived and they said they had made a mistake and didn’t have a room for us. They did nothing for us. They said they could move us to a sister location 5 miles away but would not give us any kind of discount for the inconvenience. Very rude staff. Definitely would not recommend. We have stayed numerous times before and will never go back.

The Oread is a beautiful historic site. The bar staff is the slowest I’ve ever seen though.

Had my wedding here last year, wedding coordinator never responded to my emails until my husband emailed her asking to. I had paid extra for separate vegan meals to be prepared for guests, and the meals that were served were vegan but absolutely not what we had asked for. On top of that, the next morning, we left our cake for the staff to snack on and as we were checking out, the front desk associate make a snarky comment about getting married at a young age. The wedding coordinator’s assistant was loads more helpful than his boss, and we only met him once. Could not have been more disappointed in the venue service.

Nice historic hotel near KU. The staff are amazing. Great customer services. Bird Dog bar & restaurant had excellent food. Only problem was we didn’t know to ask for in room coffee maker.

A great view, great music and great service from the bar & kitchen.

The Oread is a special place. For parties or just couples fun. Service is wonderful and friendly. Our family and friends had a wonderful Erving. Thank you.

I was taking my wife there for our anniversary and Memorial Day weekend. Ran into a problem and we needed to cancel. Cancellation policy is 48 hours and if you don’t cancel before then, they charge full price for 1 night. Pretty sure they’ll sell this room as well and collect 2x for the same room. Policy like this is ridiculous and leaves no room for consideration of people’s circumstances. Very disappointed! Won’t book here again no matter the occasion.

Great location with good food and wonderful places to gather.

Rooms and meals are first class at a reasonable cost.

Perfectly located close to Massachusetts (Mass) street (the main Street) and the Kansas University. If you're staying for business it's an excellent choice. The service is great. Staff is super friendly and efficient. Sure, it's missing a few items. But it makes up with a breathtaking view from the roof terrace.

The room was comfortable and clean and valet went smoothly. We had a nice view of KU campus. My only complaint is that we ordered breakfast to the room and it took an hour to get there. I thought maybe they were really busy but our food was cold. They also forgot some of our sides which we didn't notice until after it was delivered because the plates were covered and we could not get anyone to answer the phone when we called about it.

Stopped in here for a reception. The lobby is amazing. Great architecture. Lots of stone. The reception area was comfortable and well appointed. Never stayed in a room. Friends have for KU games. They tell me the rooms put them in the mind of dormitories. Either way, its a nice place with great service and well worth a visit.

I haven't stayed at the hotel, but I like to go to the bar for drinks. Happy hour specials make it an affordable drinking place. The bar staff have always been friendly. There's a nice patio outside in addition to many comfortable seating options inside. When it's not to cold or windy, you can take your drink to the roof and enjoy a bird's eye view of Lawrence. They also have a limited rooftop bar so that you don't have to go all the way back down downstairs.

At first glance, the Oread has the appearance of a 5 star hotel. The staff is incredible. They are very pleasant and helpful. Top notch. Where the Oread falls short is in the little things; like the toilets flush so loud and abruptly you would likely soil yourself if you hadn't just mitigated that threat, the rooms lack a microwave and coffee maker (they do have ceiling fans which is nice) the rooftop bar had a random plunger sitting on the side bar, half of the outdoor spe…akers were missing the covers (this sounds picky but details are important in an upscale place), and the revolving door at the front entrance is a struggle to get through with a suitcase in hand. It's way too small. I would probably go back and patronize the bar, but this wouldn't be my first choice for a place to stay… Again, big shout out to the staff. They were 5 star and top notch.

This was a spot I came across for date night ideas awhile back but didn’t pull the trigger. Then just recently the wife and I decided to have a date night and checked out the restaurant On The Hill. Sergio was amazing at giving us insight on his wine list and the food prepared. Once we were at dinner we immediately knew we had to get a room and the experience just kept getting better. Michael the manager at the front desk gave us great information about the history of the hotel. We went on the rooftop and enjoyed drinks and great music. So much fun that we had to take forever pictures in the morning on the rooftop and will continue to keep coming back.

Beautiful place. Great for large private parties and reasonably priced! Party arrangers are very professional and knowledgeable.

We held an event here. The party room was priced excellent to rent if you don't serve food or use media or have a DJ etc. The room was beautiful. The staff was attentive and friendly, Be careful for hidden charges that they don't tell you about buried in the catering menu. I thought the price per plate was pretty high for a self serve buffet. $31/plate … and then they added $900 on as a "catering fee" … and either you or your guests will have to pay to park in order to even attend the party. And if you are spending the night and spending more money they triple your parking charge instead of comping it… so by the time I got my final bill my overall cost ended up being nearly $6, 000 for what I was expecting $3100 ($31 x 100 pp)

We came for a weeding and I have to say, this has been the best venue I have ever been at. The whole place looks like a Castle, the drinks are amazing and the staff is very friendlly. The food was Great, a nice selection of finger food like cheese and goat scheese potatoes. Shrimp wrapped in Bacon and awesome dessert, can't get better than that.

The room wasn't as nice as expected for the price. Not really any amenities, no parking unless you want to pay valet or pay KU campus price to park if you find a spot. Kind of a small room wasted on a big bathroom. The rest of the hotel is very nice looking. We did have a cool view from the room. But I would just pay the same or less to stay in a downtown hotel with a bigger room and a pool, gym, food, and parking.

Amazing view from top. Drinks were well made. Ate at the Bird Dog and it was really good. KU Bookstore inside was full of great merchandise. It was nice to be able to shop for my favorite team.

Paid $33 for a six ounce filet. The salad was extra. Had water to drink but still, for some reason, the bill was more than $45. All though the steak and salad were excellent it did not make up for the poor service of the bartender who never offered me a drink other than bring a glass of water. First time in over forty years I stiffed service. Excellent food, NO service.

We went to the Bird Dog restaurant which is situated in front of the hotel with a lovely patio. The server was super accommodating with dogs and very friendly. The food was decent. Mac and cheese came out Luke warm, I expected something hot if it was in a cast iron pan. Drink specials rgff.

The Nest is probably the best view lookout view in Lawrence. I would highly recommend going for a sunrise or sunset! It's breathtaking. Also they have $5 dollar burgers on Tuesdays which is awesome!.

A beautiful space with a fantastic Terrace that a lot of people really enjoy. It's a great place to go on a beautiful evening or a warm day. The Barn restaurant are also quite good although perhaps a tad overpriced but that's worth the price you have to pay to get a very close to campus eating experience. I would also say I've never actually stayed there but it continually seems that everytime I go they have issues with parking because it's all only valet and it seems like people are constantly waiting and there's always extra cars in The Circle Drive waiting to get taken away.

Excellent venue for the event I was at. Food was good quality and plenty of it for such a large party. The only negative thing about it would be that the bar was under-staffed so the lines were a little slow.

They charged my credit card twice and I was never able to get ahold of management. The stay was nice but I was not impressed with the customer service (or lack thereof). Don't plan on coming here unless you either plan on paying $15 for valet parking or you're willing to trek a mile or so with all of your luggage.

Incredibly designed. The Oread looks like it could've been apart of Lawrence for decades when in reality it's relatively new. The good thing about The Oread is that it doesn't overshadow the architecture of the surrounding campus. It respects that the campus is the appeal. Speaking as a Lawrence resident, been inside, but never been a guest. Their restaurants are nice and the terraces are cool.

Pretty nice hotel to hang out at. Nice rooftop views of the city but terrible parking spots. The restaurant was basic; salad, hot wings, fries — — (etc). And a full Bar. The staff was pretty helpful.

The staff was very nice! I was only there for one night but I would recommend this to anyone. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The decor is unique and looks high end. The room service I had for breakfast was delicious, but a little pricey. The beds are very comfortable!

200 per night is insane here. Only thing that makes it worthwhile are the on-site amenities. Hotel sucks. I have stayed her 3 times over three years and each time I experienced an issue. No hot water, room sold, insanely loud doors to rooms that slam so hard, therefore no going to sleep and your getting up early. Staying at Eldridge from here on. Three strikes, done. Total rip off staying here.

I have only visited The Oread Hotel once in my life. It was for a Christmas party my work was throwing. The inside is quite fancy. The food they catered was delicious. They also have a club called The Cave several floors down. And when I say several, I mean several! My favorite party about the hotel is you can go on the roof. The view is great.

The hotel looks like a castle! Very cool, very helpful people who were also happy to help. The view over the KU campus was very cool as well. Overall, I recommend anyone staying at KU to this hotel.

We love this place. We stay here at least once a year (Usually around Thanksgiving) and we have never had a bad experience. Wonderful and friendly staff.

Lives up to the reputation. Very nice accommodations, the room was clean and spacious. Service was excellent too, from the valet parking to the room service. The food from Bird Dog was great too, arrived fresh and left us quite pleased with the quality. Really the only thing negative I can say is the chair in the room was a bit small and probably could have been supplanted by a loveseat or couch, there was so much extra room in there.

We lover everything about our stay at the Oread from the Birdog to the pizza to happy hour prices. The hotel is unique and beautiful. Our room was the cleanest we have ever stayed in and the beds… the … most… comfortable… EVER.

The hotel and bar and all aesthetics are simply gorgeous… until you get into your room and it’s like “wait… where am I? ” Our room had a bed, desk, chair and two pictures on the wall. It was like they ran out of money and couldn’t afford an Interior Designer to actually decorate the space. We let like we were in a Business-class motel. We could hear the person next to us snoring all night through the walls. The bar and restaurants and everything on the main floor was gorgeous. Staff was very friendly. It just stopped feeling “special” once we got to our room which was sad.

The Italian restaurant, On the Hill, was a great disappointment. We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and expected fine dining. The 4 scallops ($34) were overcooked and small, the ravioli was cold, and gnocchi was tasteless. The manager was apologetic and told us that everything was freshly made, nothing frozen. The tiramisu was frozen in the middle, so I'm not sure how freshly made it was. There was only one other couple in the restaurant, so the kitchen was not busy. This was the most over priced, tasteless meal we've ever experienced. My friends and I will never return.

The rooftop is very nice and has a great view of the city. Will be back if I have the opportunity.

The view at the Hawk's Nest was phenomenal and spacious. The food was excellent! Great experience.

Beautiful hotel and great room. Only downside is limited parking and there are not complementary toiletries ie tooth brush, floss, razor. You have to use theither store to purchase these items you may have forgotten at an insane price that hotels usually provide for free.

Went for a breakfast meeting good service and great atmosphere.

Parking was a bit hard because of location, but the hotel itself was a beautiful location and great for get togethers as well as a being a place to sleep. Pricey, but above and beyond on everything.

The interior was inviting, and beautiful. Everything seemed to be accessible right in the lobby. The elevators were so smooth that I didn't even realize we were moving. We went to the roof, and it was so pretty! The view was great, and the "atmosphere" was wonderful!

Very disappointed. I took my girlfriend to dinner at the Five 21 restaurant this evening and the quality is not there for the price you pay. Both of us ordered the coffee crusted KC strip… save your money. It was cooked per our instructions but it lacked flavor aside from the occasional burnt coffee taste. The sides were not much better. I got the smashed yukons with garlic aioli while she ordered a side of the truffle fries with garlic aioli. The yukons were not bad but there were only seven of the truffle fries on my girlfriend's plate… not looking for a basket of fries here but they're not $1.00 a piece kind of fries. The atmosphere of restaurant itself wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. It lacked coherency in my opinion. Tons of beautiful stone work walls, wood doors, nice table linens and the worse seventies music I've ever heard. It may seem petty but the music was jarring. There was a wedding going on there tonight as well so heavy bass from the band or DJ they had mixed with the crappy house music killed any semblance of what could've been an atmosphere. All in all… a $150.00 isn't the most expensive meal one can buy but it's pricey for Lawrence, Kansas. Save $75 bucks, go to longhorn or Texas road house. No that's not fancy but you know what you're getting.

The Oread Hotel sits next to the KU campus housing multiple restaurants, bars, in addition to the hotel. The view from the top is unparalleled, allowing you to see the countryside in all directions from farmland to downtown Lawrence.

Horrible service. We waited two hours for our meal and had to refuse it eventually, even after multiple complaints to the manager. Also had to ask 2 times for refills and 4 times for a menu before going to the bar and getting both ourselves. Will not be returning!

The staff was great and our room was fantastic too! It was clean and well furnished, well worth the money! Plus you are close to many restaurants and bars! Loved our stay!

It has a very nice area to drink and look at the entire city.

Spacious rooms, very clean. Amazing showers with good water pressure. There is a great view of campus from many rooms, but not all. However, there is open access to the roof which has has tables and chairs. There is a starbucks in the lobby. The service was superb in all areas.

The room was very nice, bed was firm and comfortable. Nice and clean throughout with an enormous shower. The view from the 9th floor patio was great. Staff were helpful, especially the staff in the Bird Dog bar in the lobby. Staff at desk were very curt (not even a "congratulations" when we explained our reason for staying was an anniversary), but they were dealing with a wedding party at the same time, so mostly understandable. Not sure I would stay again. The convenience of location is not quite worth the premium rates.

We were there for brunch on Sunday after graduation. Service was great. Funnel cake and bloody mary bar were fun and delicious!

We mostly went to The Oread because it's close to campus and we wanted a celebratory end-of-the-semester drink. The food was okay and the selection of beers on tap is very good! Nice patio for sitting outside on a nice day as well.

My experience with The Oread Hotel is very limited. I was there only once, for a luncheon, and reception. The food was very good. The room was very nice. My overall impression of the hotel is that it is relatively luxurious for its location. Speaking of location, the campus of the University of Kansas is one block away.

Live music on the rooftop was good! Unfortunately the drinks and bar offerings were limited and the beer was flat. If there wasn't a cover, it probably would have been forgotten.

Dinner and drinks is a bit pricey but great experience overall. The Rooftop Bar has an excellent view of all of Lawrence.

Had drinks at the Oread after a basketball game. We wanted to drink on the terrace upstairs, but the terrace bar was closed, so we had to bring up pitchers from the bar downstairs. The view was great, but it's baffling that there was no upstairs service.

The Cave is always bumping. Dollar night on Friday's are amazing. You can't find a better place to party anywhere else in Lawrence.

We had a wonderful experience at the Oread. They were friendly and accommodating. The terrace was beautiful! The rooms were clean and fabulous! I especially enjoyed the fitness room. I highly recommend this hotel and will book here again next year.

There were dead insects in our bathroom. We requested and our bathroom was recleaned while we were at a wedding. There were more insects in the bathroom the next morning. The common areas needed cleaning. Very disappointing hotel.

Very great first experience being at The Oread. Valet was very nice and had my car to me asap if I planned on leaving. Front desk was also nice and knew how and what I wanted in my room. The room it self was very clean, and the view was great. Lots of window light which is what I wanted. I would be coming back again.

A very nice hotel with helpful and outgoing staff. The accommodations were quite nice, with clean and comfortable rooms and a very good on-site restaurant (we ate breakfast there twice and were quite impressed). The roof-top seating area has great views of Lawrence, Kansas. The staff went out of their way to be of assistance and did a great job making us feel welcome and comfortable. Next time we are in Lawrence, we will definitely be staying at The Oread Hotel.

Such an amazing hotel! We just had our wedding at the Oread and I could not have asked for a better weekend. First of all, the location is perfect for all of your out of town guests (and locals) because it is so close to the KU campus so everyone can explore that and very close to Mass St. The rooms and views are beautiful, but the thing that sets this place apart is their impeccable service. From the moment I started to inquire with the Oread about using it for our wedding it was 5 star service. Whitney Webber and Kiley Nottingham are the two wedding coordinators there and they were amazing to work with. They helped me to prepare so well that when it came to having the reception there I was not worried at all. Whitney was there all weekend with anything that we or our guests needed, and because of her and her excellent staff everything went off without a hitch! I would recommend the Oread to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Lawrence, it has one of a kind food, service and views and never disappoints.
