Everything was awesome. Staff really exceeded expectations. The room itself left a little to be desired but it is what is was suppose to be. We have never stayed at a boutique motel before so we didn't know what to expect. Lesson learned. Probably would not stay again, but only because we like a little more room, no fault of the hotel, plus we misunderstood and did not realize as a hotel guest, you still pay and additional $35.00 for parking. But I guess that is the same for most hotels in that area. All in all, a good experience.

Location downtown is walking distance to MB stadium. Rooms were clean. View was very nice. LJ and Scott worked the front desk and went above and beyond to make visit memorable. Highly recommend and look forward to staying for my next visit to Downtown Atlanta.

This hotel is by far one of the nicest I've stayed in yet. From the moment we walked in the door the experience was amazing. The staff was amazing. Derrick at checkin was fabulous, he went above and beyond for me and my guest. They get 10 stars from me and I am not easy to please. The location is perfect! Right in the center of downtown Atlanta. Walking distance to so many things. The restaurant was wonderful! I love everything about this establishment.

I wanted to stay at the Ellis hotel because it's my last name. I thought it would be cool… well, it was more than cool, the customer service was extraordinary, and the hotel itself was more than I expected. Clean, stylist, cozy and in a good location for relaxing in the downtown area.
We like the txt message we got, and when I called to ask a question, the new clerk new my situation and fixed it asap.
All for the staff were pleasant people, and seem happy to be working there… I dont even like Atlanta, but The Ellis Hotel has given me a reason to give this city another chance…

Upon check-in at 3:30 pm our room was not ready. While we waited we ate a late lunch at the restaurant which was delicious and surprisingly well priced. Our room became available about an hour later and was very nice. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. Our shower door leaked very badly and covered the floor with water after one use. We did report this as check out and were assured it would be taken care of. All of the staff we encountered in the restaurant, front desk and valet were all very curteous and helpful. The valet even helped me map out my morning run from the hotel and through downtown Atlanta. Overall we had a wonderful experience and I would definitely book another stay at The Ellis Hotel.

We stayed at the Ellis Hotel while in town for the Taylor Swift concert. Was pleased with everything with the hotel, with the exception of the check-in process. We checked in around 4 PM and had to wait 15 minutes to get our room key (as the rooms were not ready yet). When a hotel advertises a 3 PM check-in time, I do anticipate that rooms are ready to go when we arrive (especially an hour after). No one at the front desk explained to us why rooms were not ready and were not apologetic in the delay. Convenient location and comfortable rooms, just wish the reception was better.

Our car was totaled by a negligent valet. The hotel and valet company did nothing. We stayed at the Ellis Hotel for our fourth anniversary to attend the Atlanta United game in early June. After a day at Stone Mountain, we dropped our car off with the valet along with a $5 tip in order to get ready for dinner and the game. That was at 3:30PM. At 10:30 at night, we get a call from the hotel that our car was left out on the street for over 7 hours where it was totalled in a hit and run. We have been dealing with the police for 9 weeks trying to get the case resolved, and our case agent with APD commented several times about how uncooperative Mr. Caffey (the valet) had been. He was also incredibly disrespectful to us during the encounter and misplaced vital information relevant to our case like witness statements and phone numbers that would have benefitted the prosecution of the hit and run driver. The hotel during this entire encounter was not helpful, apologetic, or respectful. We stay in Atlanta 20-30 nights a year and I have told all of our co-workers and friends to avoid this hotel like the plague. Now we are out over $1, 000 and countless hours of stress and worry because Mr. Caffey and the Ellis Hotel were not capable of doing their jobs correctly. On top of the very disappointing encounter with the valet, our bedsheets were put on wet (gross) and there are several pan handlers surrounding the building that made us feel unsafe.

Staff were really nice and our room was well put together and quiet, relaxing place when it needed to be. I can't comment on the value of the stay since I didn't pay the bill (work did) nor got a full rate because of a conference I was participating in. Located in a nice area of Atlanta with plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Close to subway access which made getting to some parts of town convenient.

Rooms ARE small, but well appointed. We couldn’t have had better service. From room service to checking out, all good!

The hotel was nice and clean. The room was very quiet and peaceful. Although there is soap and lotion in the room, there isn't shampoo or conditioner. They have "conditioning shampoo" if you ask, but it took multiple requests to actually receive it. The keurig in the room with real half and half was a very nice touch. Overall, a very nice hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was not large, but it was very comfortable and I slept very well. Bath towels were thick, absorbent, and large! And the breakfast buffet had great omelets and strong coffee, and it was fun to sit outside. Very close to the subway station. I'd gladly stay again.

Horrible communication between the staff. No one was happy from the time we came in the door. Staff was not pleasant or accommodating. My anniversary weekend was ruined and that did nothing to help us rectify the situation but run us from front desk person to front desk person and manager to manager still with no results. This is a pass the buck staff. Our room had a noisy fan and the maintenance man came twice for fix it he was the only pleasant person in our experience. I feel bad for our children spent their money and chose this hotel to send us here for our anniversary. Never recommending! Fish tacos from room service were good but fried green tomatoes.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. All staff from the front desk, cleaning service, and restaurant were great. The room was nice and when you turn on the hot water you don't have to wait forever for it to warm up. It's HOT! It's also in a great location from bars and other attractions. We'll definitely be staying here again.

Went to the restaurant here and food was alright and fairly priced. My only complaint is that service was a little slow. We were one of only two tables there and it took longer than usual to get out food.

I stayed 5 nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff were professional and quick to accommodate. They checked on me regularly in person and via text. The room was great and had plenty of supplies. Great location near plenty of activities.

This hotel is absolutely amazing! The service is beyond Great! The staff and location is 100%. Oh and the breakfast is super! I have been to this location once a year for the past three years for business purposes! And Sylvester is a great waiter!

The Ellis has a great location, design and lobby. However, when I got to my room last time the a/c couldn’t be adjusted, the phone didn’t work and the shower control fell on my hand. The manager did follow up with me at the time and promised if I gave them another chance he would make things right. Going to Atlanta once again I called, leaving messages on his voicemail, at the front desk, and even with him once when he said he’d call me back in 10 minutes. He never did call me back and I felt he had broken faith with me and I canceled my reservation. It wouldn’t have taken a lot for me to love staying there again, but the lack of care and follow-through with the manager compelled me to write this review.

There should be criteria to classify a hotel as luxury and boutique. This hotel does not meet the mark! Overpriced, charges for everything from water in your room to a buffet breakfast. Bathrooms are not luxury, At the rate of 350, some things should be complimentary and definitely more amenities. The double rooms have a full-size bed and not a queen. I left disappointed and not like a boutique experience.

Location and price were good. King size Deluxe room was a bit small and there was no fridge. They also took an additional $100 out of my account without warning me about it. It was $50 a night for incidentals. Didn't appreciate that. I budget for everywhere we go and so seeing the extra $100 withdrawn without warning threw me off. The bed is super comfortable. There is no breakfast. There is no parking so you have to use valet parking for $35 a night. The shower is nice but a bit small.

Not sure if I will come back! No over head lights, ceiling no tiles discovered, vents haven’t been cleaned in years — dust completely covering the ceiling vents! I ordered some hot wings & a glass of wine to be delivered to my room. The bill was $32! Parking is $35 per night! WTH?! Staff was awesome though!

I love this hotel! The staff here is wonderful! Everyone is so pleasant. Starting with the front desk Tanner Damali and Nicole were the BEST! Just all smiles! I also enjoyed room service with bishop! Super clean, updated room. Very secure as you need a key to access elevator. Staff was super friendly (I stayed 01-27-18 — 01-28-18), as well as valet. Definitely worth the valet charge! The girls at the front when I checked out were super nice. I left my chapstick in the room and the lady who was cleaning was nice enough to call the front desk and let them know before I left.

We had a wonderful stay here last night. The staff, every single one, was beyond wonderfully friendly. My wife stayed here six months ago with our daughters and loved it so much that she wanted to bring me here as well. We asked for, and received, a higher floor that had nice views of the city. By reserving a corner room our view was even better. We ordered breakfast the night before, which arrived at the exact time we scheduled it and it arrived hot, delicious and again by a very cheerful staff member. Loved our stay.

The heating does not heat so well but everything else very well.

Would not recommend. Our room never got above 60 degrees, we couldn't get another blanket or duvet. The one we had was old and the filling was in hard balls inside it was really gross. Room was small and dated. One elevator was broken so it took forever to go up and down. We were only brought one new towel our second day. They claim to be a 4 star hotel, but it was more like a 2 star. We could not wait to get out of there.

The Hotel is very clean, and has friendly staff. Valerie checked us in, and shewas very welcoming. It's the N. C in her :) This is my second stay downtown Atlanta with my husband. I will definitely be coming back.

We checked in on a Friday and did the valet service. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel was nice overall. The front desk staff was nice as well, as those in the restaurant. My husband and I went and celebrated both of our birthdays. When we got in the car to go home Sunday, we noticed the valet had stolen our gun. There was no forced entry into the car and we never removed our car our entire stay. The valet company is a third party Company hired by the Ellis hotel. You can lock the glove box of your car but they have the key. We filed a claim with the valet company and filed a police report. I called the general manager a week later to make sure he was aware of the incident and to see if there was any compensation the hotel would offer for the inconvenience. I was extremely nice when I called to explain and he cut me off every chance he could. He never once offered even an apology. From the very start of the conversation, he kept cutting me off saying he didn't need to handle it and would have the manager of the valet call me. Every time he cut me off to tell me to tell the manager of valet, I explained to him that we had been talking with the valet company but wondered if there was anything the hotel could do. He was not professional, nor empathetic in any way. He even asked me at one point "don't you know you're supposed to remove your valuables from your car?! " Yes, we definitely should not have left it in the car.

Terrible terrible terrible food. The gravy was rotten for breakfast, multiple guests (including me) complained that the chicken on the salad was so rubbery it was almost beef jerky. And the broccoli soup was so bad, it was literally like pudding. They need a new kitchen staff or a real chef, and I will honestly be reporting them to the city for an inspection, there is no way things are being properly prepared. Avoid.

Nice hotel. Wasn't exactly spotless like I expected food or some kind of debris was around the bed. But mostly my rating is for the customer service during check-in. I reserved room via Priceline, the next day I called hotel to confirm and request a double. Arrived at hotel, they had given me a king and then bc I requested a double they said it was an upgrade charge. Um, I have never heard that going from a king to a double was an upgrade. The customer service rep also lied and said that it's not possible to pick room types on any third party site. That is absolutely not true. She was uncaring and borderline rude. It was in a great location but I will not stay here again.

I stayed here for a quick getaway in Atlanta. The location was great and within walking distance to all the attractions I was visiting. The staff was friendly. For the price I paid, however, I felt nickeled and dimed a bit having to pay for the hotel branded bottled water in the room. Plus the room could have been cleaner. It's a nice place to stay, but for the price I was expecting better.

The Ellis Hotel is very centrally located in downtown Atlanta, close to restaurants and bars. The rooms are nice and spacious. The beds are comfortable. I enjoyed my stay.

Loved the hotel! We arrived at 2:30am at another hotel, the Hyatt House and although we had confirmed our reservation that same day, when we got there they told us they were fully booked because they "didn't have maids" to clean the rooms. Can you imagine? after being traveling from Puerto Rico to be told that at 2:30AM it was really frustrating. They moved us to the Ellis and it was the best thing it could have happened to us. We Loved the Hotel, much better than the other one and all the staff was great, unlike the other place. So we were happy that they changed us to The Ellis. Thank you Eileen at the front desk for helping us and for her hospitality, she is really nice. Also be sure to order Breakfast to your room, yummy food. Thank you for the excellent experience.

We were hurricane Irma evacuees and they didn't compensate anything not the $80 pet fee not the $30 valet parking and then almost made us pay for parking twice. The hotel food is not worth eating 2 tacos are $25 and not amazing. The hotel staff were rude/stand offish. The room was extremely small, no fridge or microwave. The stand up shower in the show was not worth the expensive stay. Will NEVER stay here again.

For the bad: The bed was terribly uncomfortable. In the morning the shower had one setting, scaldingly hot, even when just barely turned on. There was no way to use the bottom nozzle for the tub, water only came out the shower head. The hotel room phone did not work. For the good: Location. The hotel had a good aesthetic. Staff was good. Overall very disappointed considering that is a four star, mid priced hotel. The second star was for the staff.

I booked a room for one night at the Ellis for a meeting that I had nearby. The website made it sound like it was something spectacular. I was really interested in the history of the building and thought it would be a really neat place to stay. The staff was very courteous and helpful, but this hotel is NOT worth $250. I expected something much more grand than what it was. Room was also very small and not much to it.

I travelled to Atlanta for work and found this hotel online. The staff was very friendly and I liked my room, which had some added extras like bathrobes and lots of pillow choices on the comfortable bed, although some of the furniture was a bit dated. I had dinner one night at the hotel restaurant and the waitress was wonderful, the food was tasty. However, the internet was impossibly slow, to the point where I decided to switch hotels midway through my stay. I did talk to the technical support and it appears the issue is not with the wireless, but with the ISP. When I told the front desk why I was moving, they were perfectly willing to let me leave earlier than my planned departure, apologized for the trouble, and said they hope that I'll come back some day. The service and comfort of the room is why I am still giving it four stars. Generally, I would say that this is a lovely hotel with a good downtown location. I would certainly consider staying there again. But until the internet issues are resolved, business travellers may want to find a location that better serves that need.

I came this past weekend for a concert with my friend. The staff was very helpful and accommodating when I had to make a few changes to my room and ask for a VERY early check-in (8:00am). I requested a fridge in my room and they delivered it very quickly. The hotel was a lot smaller than I thought it would be, but the room was adorable and very comfortable. The Wi-Fi was slow and I wish they had a pool and an actual concierge, but overall, it was a nice little spot. I work at a 4-star boutique hotel in Tennessee, so I recognize the staff's hard work. Kevin at the front desk was very nice and helpful and the lady later that night was as well (the night of 6/14).

Rooms are rather small but the furnishings have been updated. Staff very friendly and accommodating. However I was disappointed on a number of fronts. Wifi was VERY slow in the rooms as to be unusable. Better performance in the lobby and Bistro. Hip-Hop music left playing on the radio after room was cleaned. Coffee supplies not restocked after the first day and coffee maker only brewed a 1/2 cup before shutting off. With all of my lodging choices in downtown Atlanta, I will explore other options during my next visit.

My boyfriend and I loved this hotel. From the moment we stepped out of our car, until we checked out, everyone was super friendly and helpful. It's located near Olympic Park and The Tabernacle, both of which we walked to. The rooms were beautiful and spacious and sunny. Honestly I can't say enough about the hotel. No negatives at all. One of the best I've ever stayed at.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of the reviews here were written by the ellis hotel. The rooms are very small. The A/C was extremely loud. The carpet was both dirty and peeling up in areas. The staff was discourteous, and we waited 10 minutes for the valet to come get our keys. The valet parking fee is $30 which is pretty standard but certainly not 1/3 of the normal price as one past reviewer claims. It's not an awful hotel, but it's an overrated hotel and, having travelled to Atlanta frequently, I feel it is not up to par with comparably priced hotels in the area. That said, I do think it's neat that they have a women's only floor and the public areas are very clean and up dated. All and all, it's nicer than the red roof but not as nice as a best western.

I'll admit to being somewhat wary of the 'boutique' label attached to hotels (especially large ones), but The Ellis is surprisingly rather chic, the rooms well appointed and importantly, everything is well in keeping with the building. The beds are marshmallow-soft, the staff are super efficient and knowledge and it's all reasonably priced. Recommended.

A hidden jem in the heart of down town ATL.

Price: okay for a location downtown. Amenities: average, there is a parking garage located behind the hotel for quick easy parking to avoid the Valet prices but it is more expensive than what the sign displays, bathroom and room accessories are nice, u have to pay for the bottles of water in the room, NOT complimentary, and no vending machine. Cleanliness: not as clean ad it could be, found dental floss on the floor, pieces of clear plastic trash and other small trash which indicated they did not vacuum. Hidden fees: a $50/day fee which is non negotiable for use such as Valet fees, room service, hotel bar, or damages to room. View: fantastic from the rooms on the front side of the hotel. Staff is nice and helpful for the ones who I encountered excluding the ones at the check-in/reception desk. Would NOT recommend a friend to stay here, be aware of the above mentioned. UPDATE: They charged me for Valet Parking and if I did not pay attention to the receipt during checkout I would have been out even more money! The receptionist was really snotty and acted as if I were making up a story and I wasn't sure myself if I had used the valet service.

First time visiting Downtown Atlanta, and couldn't help but enjoy the warm friendly greetings that started at the door. The modern decor to the homey feel made it a great stay. The staff, especially the supervisor, made a great impression with the friendly and accommodating service. The room was very clean and had an allergy sensitive environment.

The Ellis is a gem in the hip Downtown Atlanta area. Located near Centennial Park, it is right in the middle of the exciting hustle and bustle. There are many great places to eat nearby and wonderful entertainment. The standard rooms are fairly small but well suite for anyone traveling on business or even a romantic getaway. The bathrooms are more than adequate with high end bath products. I will certainly be staying here again.

Staying at the Ellis was a very good experience. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful as opposed to merely professionally courteous. The rooms were very stylish and clean. I particularly appreciated the quality of the robes in the room. They had a dollar a glass wine happy hour with complimentary snacks on the piazza. It was nice but I recommend not sitting on the side next to the street if you wish to have an uninterrupted conversation. The thing I liked most about the Ellis was the atmosphere: they played Motown and Funk in the lobby. Sometimes when I stay at other similar hotels I feel like they are trying to be so very. Something. Whatever it is it comes off as silly to me. At the Ellis they have a nice hotel and they are comfortable with it.
