Paradise! Beautiful relaxing grounds and patio areas. Superbly clean rooms, decorated with ocean cottage flair. A walk to beach, and return to outdoor shower area to rid feet etc. Of sand before entering your room. Friendly staff, best continental breakfast-always stocked with fruit, yogurt, croissants, cheese sticks, bagels, coffee, juice. Great for adults and children. We were cognizant of other guests and kept kids quiet even outdoors. Will definitely return in 2020

My husband and I took our twin 6 year old grandkids to Santa Cruz and this place was perfect. We stayed in a cottage with a kitchen which is very convenient with kids. It’s a bit pricy but it’s nice and peaceful. The little beach called sunny cove is ok but I really like walking on the beach and there was nowhere to walk so we took a 2 minute drive to twin lakes beach and it was perfect. The only negative thing about this place is there is no room in the bathroom for a woman to get ready. Thankfully there was a mirror in the bedroom so I made it work but other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

I loved everything about this hotel. The staff was very nice. The rooms are cute & clean. Very affordable & right next to the beach. We'll definitely be staying here again!

Stayed here a week ago and I can say that our stay was wonderful!
We checked in after 9pm, and the staff was very kind. Personally showed us to our room before checking us in completely.
The room was clean and spacious. The view from our private balcony was amazing. We slept with the sliding glass door partly open so that we could hear the waves.
Not only was our room spacious, but the bathroom was large as well. … We woke up to the waves, and when I stepped out into our private balcony I was pleased with the view. If you stay here the best part is the location in proximity to the beach. There is a very private beach literally less than 100 yards from your rooms. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone that is looking for a quiet close location to the beach. ❤️

Love this place. Great location, just a stone's throw from the beach! Unique, classy, and comfortable room with kitchenette. Lovely continental breakfast with bagels, eggs, and homemade scones. Also, it's a short drive to the marina and boardwalk. I can't forget… it's pet friendly too:) We will definitely be back!

I can't believe how the management treated me when I asked about the construction that was right outside of our room. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They where very shady around were the was being done " it's on the property" not it will be right outside your front door. Not let the one star fool you. I had to pick at least one star to post.

Absolutley loved our stay. We BBQd on the deck. I just Love waking up to the sound if the ocean.

Love this place! Rooms are tidy. Breakfast is Great and you walk down to Sunny Cove.

Clean and tidy. The cottages are quaint, well decorated, and conveniently located. The shared balcony offers a wonderful view of the Sunny Cove beach. The on site complementary breakfast is a nice touch, and the homemade walnut banana bread is baked fresh each morning. The innkeepers are very courteous, and helpful. They provided us with complimentary beach towels to use during our stay. The inn has a noise policy after 10pm, to ensure that your stay is restful. There are grills available to use as well, and the innkeepers will give you information about anything you need to know locally. I would highly recommend staying with ocean echo inn while you are in santa cruz.

Great little cottages, awesome people. This place is a gem hidden away on the coast. Beach access and a short walk to the boardwalk. The rooms can accommodate families but it's a fun couples get away. Call to check availability cause they can fill up near the weekend. The Aloha Grille next door has good food and the Starbucks on the corner is easy access in the morning.

Quaint little cottages and rooms. Close enough to the ocean to hear it and have it lull you to sleep. Rooms have full (small) kitchens, which is nice if you are trying to vacation on a budget. Would definitely recommend this place. Side note: walls are a bit thin, so be prepared to hear other people walking around or talking outside or in other rooms.

I love this place. My husband and I have stayed here twice. Once in the beautiful upstairs suite and the other in the old light House. Both experiences were beyond amazing. Management was very helpful and kind. Lovely place, close to the beach, where you can build a fire. We are planning on visiting again.

A tiny little Haven by the beach. The staff is amazing and the rooms are perfect and super clean.

Completely acceptable accommodations. Staff is very helpful. Rooms are newly updated. Beach access is excellent. But overall the hotel isn't centrally located. It's older so there is noise between rooms. Road, parking, and grounds are awkward.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay. Abe and Rachel were very helpful! We stayed in cottage 8, it was very cozy and clean. It was a pleasure staying there. I recommend this place. Close to all amenities, beach and stores.

We had a great view from our room, and the staff was really nice! The only small complaints would be that the bed was pretty hard, and the doors let a lot of noise through. Very small things though, overall a very pleasant experience!

Everyone at this place is awesome. You walk down some stairs to Ocean awesome at night awesome in the morning and a wonderful place to stay I definitely want to come back here again.

Parking is free but it’s a very narrow street so be careful not to scratch your car. Room was ok. Clean but not cozy. The mattress needs to be changed. It’s soggy. Staff are alright.

A nice little property close to a semiprivate beach. The cottage we stayed in was cozy and quiet. Having a kitchen and grill access let us cook some meals.

We stayed in room 12, which has the best view of the ocean. We left the slider door open and the waves lulled us to sleep. The staff was exceptionally nice and the setting clean and comfortable. We hope to return next year.

The Managers are lovely and very eager to help. I guess their budget is set by the owners who need to allow more funding for breakfast. It is really important to me and it is basically fruit, yoghurt and bagels. I would have liked some croissant, ham, cheese, eggs and jam for the bagels. The cottages are clean but are basically wooden clad mobile homes. Santa Cruz is expensive so this is probably considered good value.
The location is great and the beds are comfortable. I think the breakfast room could be extended for people to sit and eat, instead of grabbing a bagel and going but I guess the owners want to rent out every square inch that they can.
The managers are lovely but the owners need to be more guest centred.

We had friends from Seattle stay at The Ocean Echo Inn and they loved it! Quiet, quaint and a fabulous hidden gem tucked above the beach. Walking distance to Starbucks and 4 great restaurants. Hosts were accommodating and delightful. Best value at the beach.

Outstanding place. Booked last minute and was pleasantly surprised. Great place, great decor, very clean and would stay there again! High recommend. Great deal for a great price!

My husband and I came for a mini vacation. This place is great! Our room was very quaint, comfortable and clean. Kristine and Greg were very friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was probably the best I've ever had. We're looking forward to returning in the future.

Amazing location right near the beach with well appointed rooms and great views from the main deck. Dog friendly, and a cute dog on staff. Great spot in Santa Cruz.

Ocean Echo Inn & Beach Cottages is a quaint establishment. The rooms were sufficient for our stay and was very reasonable considering the local alternatives.

The room was nice and clean and close to the beach. The shower door leaked some onto the floor and was a bit of a nuisance, but nothing a few towels couldn't fix.

Charming little cottages right next to a mostly private beach! The rooms were very clean up to date and comfortable. There was even a view from their deck to the little Oceanside. The location was wonderful and just in walking distance of the harbor. Can't wait to go back!

Very clean contemporary room with large well equipped bathroom. Very close to sea. Adequate buffet breakfast. Slight complaint — no tea/coffee making facilities in room which I would expect for price charged.

I stayed at the Ocean Echo Inn and Beach Cottages on girlfriends weekend getaway. I love this place! We stayed in Cottage Six which fit 5 women comfortably. The beds were super comfortable. We had a kitchen with a sink and refrigerator for our snacks and drinks. We were able to sit out on our private deck and enjoy the outdoor and even though the beach is walking distance, we were able to hear the waves crash. It is a very cute place for a nice getaway. I would highly recommend this Inn for your weekend getaway with your girlfriends, family or whoever you want to enjoy time together. Two thumbs up.

Beautiful location, situated 55 steps from the beach. Newly remodeled cabins are bright, airy and modern. We stayed two nights here and enjoyed grilling on our private deck. Very neat and clean grounds and the staff was so very nice; upgrading us as we were on our honeymoon. Excellent, thank you very much.

This place is just our speed (we are a family with a small child and two dogs). Charming little cottages that are small but warm and comfortable. Good value. Very close to a lovely beach. Markets and breakfast spots within walking distance. Great staff. Definitely recommend bringing your own coffee, however. The in-room coffee is your typical hotel coffee for a two-cup pot, and there are standard sized coffee makers in the cottages. Minor thing, but coffee is an important part of my day! We look forward to coming back. The managers say they are renovating soon, it will be interesting to see what happens. We stayed in cottage 1 which was plenty roomy, but I want to try to reserve cottage 6 next time for added privacy.

If you are expecting charming, clean, quite cottages surrounded by trees and greenery, just steps from the water, forget it. These cottages are crammed in together, one against the other. Very small parking lot. It is true that beach is just steps away, but the beach is very small and full of drunk kids unsafe for the children the cottages have little or no view of the water, and much better views of their neighbors' windows. The cottages have paper tin walls what ever your neighbors say or do you hear it. We could not sleep all night.

Amazing little spot! My husband and I were taking a babymoon all along Northern California. On our last night we were having some trouble finding a place to spend the night. Fortunately this place came recommended through our navigator. The whole experience from booking to check out surpassed my expectations. Thank you so much Bill, Shelley, and Ocean Echo for making our stay such an enjoyable experience! We will be back again for sure.

Had a great summer getaway at a good price. A walk without crossing streets to a protected enclosed beach and a full kitchen made this our pick. The staff was accommodating in letting us invite friends to spend the day park their cars (obviously wouldn't happen if the place was full) and use our room to shower and change. If you have kids the beach is what makes this place a winner, it is not over crowded but not deserted and lot's of other kids are there too. Maybe you can see on maps and satellite photos how the cove has 20 foot cliffs on either side. This makes it an easy place to keep track of your kids and let the run around too. There is an amazing inexpensive Hawaiian fast food place at the corner and restaurant and delis are an easy walk. The board walk is a short drive away so this neighbor hood is much calmer. The hotel was clean and functional, but not fancy. Kitchen was fully equipped. We are a low end motel family, so some of the rough edges were easy for us to ignore, but I don't think they are entirely wrong. My concern would be the walls were thin, are neighbors were quite (and polite) for college kids so it wasn't an issue, but I think it could have been. I think you have factor in price and location, and give them a break. And I rarely bother to fill these things out so I was inspired to balance some of the other perspectives and experiences.
