Awesome location next to the beach and Boardwalk… Definitely dated but still no regrets staying there. There are artist renderings in lobby showing the upcoming complete teardown and rebuild to happen next year. Either way, I would be happy to stay there again before the remodel.

Very outdated but it was a comfy bed and it had all of the essentials. BIG bathroom with no shower curtain. The walls are kind of thin and the parking isn't the best because it is not gaurded. Reminder: they will be CLOSING for a year to remodel. They no longer have a pool either. Remodeling begins in October! It is however a 3 minute walk from the boardwalk.

Nice room with comfy beds and helpful staff. Hotel is in a great location right across from the beach and Boardwalk Arcade with the Santa Cruz Wharf is a block away. No pool or coffee maker but they are getting really to do a complete remodel. Parking isn't bad but if you can't park in bottom parking lot I'd suggest you unload your luggage to your room before you go park car in top lot because you either have to walk all the way around or lug your suitcases down the steep garage stairs that requires your hotel key to open the stair gate.

Excellent location but could have nicer rooms and nicer property for the price. Also they removed the pool without updating their site. I was looking forward to the pool but was gone and their parking garage dripped water from the ceiling on my car that was almost like it was salt water. It left a residue and I had just washed my car the morning before going their. It used to be alot better facility but I was also told they planned on building a bigger better place by next year.

The location is awesome. Walkable to beach boardwalk. But parking is a little difficult. There were also only one set of towels in the room for a 2 queen sized beds room. We had to request them. They brought them in immediately.

Great location: right off the Boardwalk, and a quick walk to many restaurants and bars. Older but decent rooms. Windows can be opened. Rooms advertised as ocean view have a great view of the bay/beach/pier. Parking can be tight. Call to arrange late check-in or the office may be closed for the night!

Nice people who run it. Awesome views if you have The ocean view has we did, short walk to beach and the boardwalk. But sad I came home with bed bug bites all over me. I called them after I finally seen a doctor, all he did was defend the place, bed bugs don't just live in a mattress.

I had to give it one star because 1/2 is not an option. I have to believe the good reviews are from the staff or their family. The rooms are small and outdated. There is no coffee maker in the room and coffee is not available until after 8 am. If you are young and broke and plan on staying up all night getting drunk and yelling in front of the motel this is the place for you. The parking is behind the motel, you have to walk in the street to get there as there are no sidewalks. If you do show up before 8 am for breakfast you will get to watch one of the staff getting things ready in his robe. The door was locked and he was upset that anyone would show up that early for breakfast, so we tuned in our keys and went down the road. You will probably ignore this negative review and stay here anyway like I did, and then regret it like I do. Safe travels to you.

Honestly, I was surprised by how clean and fairly affordable Coastview Inn was compared to overall area summer pricing. In comparison to other locations in close proximity to the Boardwalk, this was a perfect stop for my daughter and I! We are repeat visitors and will continue to stay here! The day and evening staff are very accomodating and super friendly! Parking, Wi-Fi and continental breakfast included (tea/coffee/hot chocolate available while office is open), short walking distance to good food, bowling alley, wharf and the Boardwalk! Plus AAA discounts are accepted! All around… WORTH IT!

I've stayed here a few times over the years. Glad I dug deep to find this place. Right across the street from the board walk. Much cheaper than almost any other hotel even further away from the beach. I've called in for reservations and they've always taken care of me. I try to tell people to stay here if I know they're going to Santa Cruz.

I would've given this hotel zero stars if I could've but that wasn't an option. Where do I start? First of all when checking in my mom goes to check in and get card is declined. Wondering why she calls her card company and they said because there was suspicious activity in Santa Cruz from the night before. While we were in a hotel in another city this hotel tried pre authorizing her card which red flag it as fraud. Why would this hotel do that? Obviously she can't be in Santa Cruz if he's another place. The manager lady of the hotel said this has always been there policy and this happens to people often! Wtf?! Then change your policy! When we get our room everything seemed okay. But the comforters were covered in holes and there was a big black spider crawling on one of the beds. And mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. We go to the pool and there are some kids playing and trying to boss other kids around and run the pool. We ignore it because some kids are just like that. As we are leaving the pool the kids tell me son see you tomorrow. This is my uncles hotels and we live here so we are here everyday. They all live there! Cousins, uncles, aunts! While at the pool we saw the uncle go to the far hotel room with a woman, watching us the whole time the went. When they got there they closed the blinds and put out the do not disturb sign and never came back out the whole time we were at the pool. At least an hour.

Overpriced motel, free garaged parking, close to restaurants and bars, across the street from the boardwalk rides, hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

Affordable rooms. Did have issues with the Wi-Fi but the staff was able to assist.

It is a pretty decent motel. Coastview has a really nice view of the ocean and it is of walking distance of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Arcade and the beach. The Hotel itself was nice, with an old TV, Microwave, and Fridge. Also has a tub or shower. Has breakfast too! Only con was that the sign-up for the Wi-Fi was confusing. Overall pretty decent hotel for the price!

Great location! Needs a bit of love. Walkways have holes and screens are torn, but overall clean room. Fantastic bed!

We definitely love the location near the beach, but the window screen is broken, no hot tub, some of the walkways are broken. All in all it kinda feels small and I feel the price is only justified by the location. Bed is quite comfy though.

Nice place. Clean, comfortable room with with a refrigerator and a microwave. The staff are highly intelligent no doubt due to the nearby university. I stayed here for 4 days near Halloween and the price where is the cheapest in town in spite of the fact that it's across the street from the beach.

Love it! Stayed here last year as well and the cleanliness and convenience, as well as the price ;) and comfort of the bed, brought me back this year. My sister and I might have driven the manager crazy with our requests if he was anything less than perfect, and, thankfully, he was perfect. Thank you, Ron! Coming back next year :)

Our trip was last minute so we were calling around trying to find a room as close to water as possible, the man was very kind even gave us a cheaper rate. The room was very clean we enjoyed our stay and would def come back.

Fantastic location; Noise street and seals right outside our window; A great price with friendly OVER accommodating staff (in a great way). We had a corner room with great views out of two big windows. Close to beach, boardwalk, pier, and a cute little pizza place with great margaritas and food right below it. Again, my only complaint was the noisy street and people. The waves and seals can also be heard, but they'll lull ya to sleep. If a barking dog annoys you, the seals will likely have the same affect. Sketchy for internet and our Cable did go out, however, if your there for the beach. Get outta the room and who cares whats happening on FB or the weather and reality TV! Staff credited us for the poor service despite my insisting it was fine and not a problem at all.

Wow! What a location! Our room looked out right onto the beach and we were just a few steps from the boardwalk and the wharf. Compared to the others places we looked at, we feel that we had the best location for the cheapest price. The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a great stay. If ever in Santa Cruz again I would stay here.

I was very excited to find a ocean view room right across the street from the boardwalk within my budget. Vanessa at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. This hotel has your basic amenities but you are within walking distance to anything your heart could desire, such as Boardwalk Bowl and a variety of eateries. We woke up to the sounds of waves crashing, sea lions barking, and a warm Cali sunrise. Would definitely stay here again.

Husband and I love this hotel, breakfast thats just ok but the view was amazing breath taking, staff very nice and friendly, be back in 5 months, thanks so much.

Great location, right across the beach and the boardwalk. The room was clean and the staff was very pleasant. I would stay here again if I had to.

It was our first visit to Santa Cruz and we were so excited to find an opening so last minute. We were a bit skeptical of it, in fact. To our surprise, it was perfect. Right on the Board Walk, excellent customer service and great accommodations, even a nice complimentary continental breakfast in the morning. We highly recommend Coastview Inn! We'll surely be back soon.

A serious surprise for the price. Our room was spacious, had a newly renovated bathroom with decent fixtures and stone slabs for the shower walls. Comfy bed. Everything was clean. The front desk attendant was very friendly and helpful. They had breakfast, but I didn't make it there so I can't speak of its quality. Covered parking, a pool (not sure why you'd need it when you are across the street from the ocean! ), I wish my room tonight I paid half again more for was as nice.

The guy at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Everything was clean, and surprisingly quiet. I love that it is right across from the ocean, and within walking distance of everything! We will definitly be back.

We had a beach view room and it was very nice considering we got it off season for around a hundred. Our room was nicely remodeled with upscale counters, refrigerator, microwave, 31" flatscreen TV, DISH programming. Great view of the beach and Santa Cruz Wharf and as close to the Boardwalk as you could get without it blocking your view! Wonderful sunset view and we could see the stacks at Moss Landing across the Bay. The rooms and outside of the building are being well taken care of, even to the point of vinyl windows in the rooms. The maid service did some arty things with towels and wash cloths that were cute and the sheets weren't tucked in which I thought was some new thing until the next morning when the bed was a mess! Don't know what was up with sheets. The little continental breakfast was just fine with tasty wrapped little rolls (which I assume came from Costco), OJ, good coffee and I think cereal and toast. At night we wandered next door to the Boardwalk Bowl and had some great Super Nachos while watching some interesting league bowling and then wandered through the Boardwalk Arcade and down the Boardwalk to where the Fun House used to be and cracked up at Laughing Sal, a wonderful restored example of the animated figures of the past. The whole Boardwalk scene was much nicer than I remembered from many years past and they have a web site that has tons of info about things like the Fun House and the roller coaster (recently painted at a cost of $300K).

Location is fantastic. Right next to the beach and a very short walk to all the beach attractions. Room was comfortable and clean. You can hear everyone that walks by outside the room because of the reverberations on the walkway, but it typically died down as the night got darker. Very comfortable and undisturbed sleep. Breakfast is meager, but as expected for such a location. Internet is ok for basic use. Parking is a bit of a challenge: it is easier to park on the roof parking lot, especially if you have a larger vehicle.

It's midnight. Underage kids drinking at the pool. Room was not cleaned after we were checked in. Came back at 10 pm and discovered bed had a giant yellow wet spot, no manager onsite so we can do nothing but take the wet sheets off. So gross. Move along, this is not the vacation experience you want.

The customer serve was friendly and sufficient. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. If you want to be in the middle of all the waterfront action, this Inn is located perfectly. You cross the street and you have the beach, arcade, boardwalk and wharf. We had a room with the waterfront view and were concerned about the noise from the street but fret not. The shops and restaurant nearby close around 10 pm so the action and noise does die down. Also, when I made the reservation I asked if they had a pool and they do but I failed to ask if it was heated. It turned out that they were not certain the pools heating system was working when we got there and it was very cold but we were really not there for the pool anyway.
