Great location, friendly staff, clean spacious rooms. They are not able to do the breakfast due to Pandemic but In room Kuerig coffee maker was nice! Would recommend.

Update: We give them 1 star because the room had no hot water and the staff was crap. Spoke to a Trinidad at another hotel and she said the manager was Karen Fyfe and was not reachable until 7am the nest day. We had given 2 stars until we had zero hot water the second night at only 8pm. Waiting for maintenance. We had a partially working vacation so the internet was important. The internet did not work at all and the keys stopped working after the first day so we had to have them re-swipped. They would not let us talk to the manager either day because she wasn't there and was not reachable by phone. Hopefully this review reaches her! The first girl at check in made it obvious she would rather be anywhere else but there and we were inconveniencing her at check in and inquiring about the internet not working. The second guy the next day couldn't even find our reservation. We recently left the state and came back to visit friends and enjoy our anniversary. A very poor experience. Sorry we chose this hotel. Not the way to start out the new year! Let's see if they do anything about the hot water… NEVER STAY here. This place is a horrible joke as my husband says. Worst hotel we have ever been in and we travel a lot. Comedy of errors. The only way I think this will work out is if we get our money back. This is beyond ridiculous at this point!

We are so happy in this lovely place… The room is warm, pretty, comfy and inviting… The staff is kind and on point…
The pool and jacuzzi is the perfect temperature.

Rode down with the Rocklin Harley gang. Great place to stay. Nice people. Had a issue with my room, but they cleared it up no problem at all! Love this place!

Perfect spot! Directly across from ocean. Upstairs the best view. Very clean. Lovely decor. Friendly staff. Boardwalk along shoreline. Restaurants in walking distance.

A quaint Oasis of a motel on Route 1. Staff was amazing to boot. The view was amazing too.

My experience with the Castle Inn at Cambria, CA was terrible. The first thing I noticed was the floors were dirty, sand and dirt were found throughout the room and a dirty oil spot was found on the ground that my 2 year old and I stepped in at the entrance inside the room. I notified the front desk, I was told a cleaning maid will be available tomorrow. Be advised it is late July and warm right now and there is no air conditioning at all so plan your trip wisely when you have a young ones (we have a 2 year old and 1 month old) luckily things cooled down around 11pm. Speaking of kid friendly, there are no microwaves located in the rooms to warm a bottle of milk. This was very disappointing for us. Overall the rooms were medium sized, the bathroom was small with zero counter space, the fridge was located in the closet, the furniture was cheap and uncomfortable, and the mattress was firm with a euro top. Overall I knocked off 3 stars for lack of preparation of the room, no microwave, no air conditioning, and mediocre comfort of the bed and furniture. Update* It turns out a old oil spill in Avila area (crude oil) has contaminated the beach shore in Cambria in small amounts. I imagine vacationers who walk on the beach are tracking this stuff all around. It's a shame, however the hotels are going to have to deal with the mess, crude oil is very difficult to remove.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had two adults and two kids with us. The room was comfortable, and the breakfast was adequate. The location is not to be beat! Right across the street from the ocean. My son loved looking at tide pools. The kids loved the pool.

Good hotel to stop if you do Route 1. It has chairs to watch the sunset and nothing expensive $ $

This place is amazing. I loved it very much. Very quiet, the staff was so super friendly and helpful. The views are amazing. The room was very super clean and the bed was very comfortable. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area. I will for sure be back without a doubt.

Great place for a family reunion! Rooms were spacious and very clean and located right across from the beach and boardwalk. Morning Continental breakfast, heated pool with spa added plus!

The view is amazing. You can walk directly to ocean and has a great view. Breakfest is provided but has a small selection. Rooms are very cozy. Staff is very kind and always ensuring all our needs are met.

The rooms are large and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately when we stayed the hot water heater broke and we had no hot water. Brrr! They did give us a discount on the bill. But the best reason to stay at the Castle Inn is the location, which is fantastic. You're right on the ocean with a great walkway that takes you to various points along the coast. There were seals and sea otters in the water. It was great! Also the Hearst Castle is right down the road.

Definitely disappointed with my experience. I had a long and wonderful birthday and wanted one simple thing at the end of the day, a hot shower. Unfortunately, I was left taking an ice cold shower! I was very polite with the front desk in asking if the issue could be looked into, and essentially got the run around. Maintenance showed up two hours later and the issue wasn't even fixed. I understand things happen, but being told we would receive a phone call prior to the front desk leaving and then hearing nothing, just rude. An honest, "I'm so sorry, the pipe broke or whatever happen. Here is what im willing to do for you". Is how this situation should have been handled. The water was STILL ice cold the next morning.

This is a family run business — run by a family who cares. In a town driven by tourism, cleanliness and friendly, helpful staff are key. Lauren checked us in and was able to answer a variety of questions about eateries and hikes in the area — so we were even more excited about exploring! We booked this last-minute for Thanksgiving weekend and love it! The outdoor seating and proximity to the moonstone boardwalk right along the ocean shore, have encouraged us to go for many more walks than we usually do on vacation. The outdoor seating has also encouraged meeting new people — especially during the free breakfast. Which, by the way is way better than what we had at another spa hotel a couple of months back. Home cooked oatmeal, perfect hard boiled eggs and a variety of pastries/breads with a toaster & microwave and great coffee. Linda refills everything with a smile and even chitchats with the guests — starts off the day right! (BTW, she hides her tip jar because she feels the housekeepers work harder than she does, so just hand her your tip. )

The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was good, and the views were fantastic! Very good value The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the place has a few maintenance needs. Coffee maker in our room was missing a lid (which kept it from brewing). There were a lot of areas that needed repainting (rust on the lights in the room). Overall the place was great! Just a few cosmetic things.

Very competent and friendly check in. Clean and comfy room with good view to the sea. You can hear the ocean waves at night. There is a good restaurant within walking distance and a wooden path at the shore where you can see Seals answer sea otter. Plan more time for a nice stay.

Not fancy, a little older, but clean, friendly, & helpful. No AC, but they found us a fan for an unusually hot weekend. Nice continental breakfast with fresh oatmeal & toppings, excellent coffee, piping hot. Pool was just right temperature to be refreshing.

Overall good, but as expected no frills. Clean room. Bathroom dated, but everything worked well. All rooms doors open directly to parking lot, but it is quiet and can see ocean even from bottom floor at least from the room we were in. Small heated pool that looked well maintained, but we did not swim. Nice trail along the beach right across the road.

The room was great, the view was beautiful and it was a very short walk to the beach. I'm the morning, there was complimentary breakfast which was great. The kids loved the pool and hot tub. It was an all around great, memorable place to stay. This is a place I would recommend to others ands when I come back, I'll be staying here again.

Clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast area was well equipped. Would definitely stay again. Only thing that wasn't up to par was that when immediately after initial arrival the gardeners were there and they blew dust directly at us while we disembarked. I let the front desk staff know about it and they seemed concerned and thanked me for letting them know. Great view of the ocean, especially on the end floor.

Convenient location right on the beach, clean & comfy rooms!

Perfect stop for a night when you're travelling the PCH between L. A. And S. F. Clean rooms, very close to the beach and good restaurants nearby. Aside from staying in this cute little town, hotel also is close to Hearst Castle. Good customer service and reasonably priced.

We stayed one night it was very nice enjoyed walking on the beach. The room was clean and the breakfast was nice.

Had a beautiful overnight at this quaint inn right on the water front. What a lovely vacation spot. And a delicious complimentary breakfast the next morning.

Seriously the most comfortable bed that was not my own. The staff was very friendly and the ambiance was very beachy. The room has two queens, a TV, a ceiling fan, a little heater, a place to sit with a table and closet. The bathroom is a little small but the shower and sink were enough. Just wish they had a little more counter space. I would stay her (or any of their sister properties) in a heartbeat!

We stayed 3 nights there for our vacation and had a good time. The place is located right on the Moonstone Beach. The room wasn't that bad at all. The breakfast is just ok. (They don't serve scrambled egg. ) Overall, it's good.

Employees were absolutely nice. The rooms are clean and beautiful.

Basic older motel. Room was large. Bathroom small. Cross the highway and you are at the beach. Take your breakfast out to the chairs on the lawn. Or bring back some dinner and take in the sunset on the lawn.

The lady gave US room number 34 which is upstair with fireplace and ocean view at regular price. A spacious lighted and tugged in and steps to the gorgeous beach. Make sure you arrives in time for sunset that you can watch from fireplace warm and private of your room.

I loved the price an as long u bring your own shampoo an other bath room products because they don't give u much some little bar soap that's about it but everything else was awesome.

Currently the best value on Moonstone Beach. Costs about half the price of other motels nearby. Having stayed at 4 other motels on Moonstone in the past decade, this is easily the best deal for someone not wanting to spend $250.00 to $400.00 per night.

This motel has been renovated, but some things, like sound privacy between rooms betray the fact that it's an old building. We found the propriators to be quite curt, the "breakfast" was juice and coffee in paper cups and grocery store muffins, delivered to the room at a pre-set time. The windows are kept open in unoccupied rooms and it took a while to get our room to warm up; It's a nearly constantly chilly part of the world. There was no shampoo, just a "body and hair soap" dispenser. The whole enterprise had a cheap feel, but the price was anything but. Disappointing all around.
