People there were really nice. There is no parking but you can get it not far away for about 15 dollars per day. We were using our car during the day so we didn't use that parking. During night we left the car on the street crossing the hostel street it's free to 9am but you have to be careful and read the boards the the streets when you can't park there.

Great nightly prices and the staff are Friendly and helpful. I seen staff trying their best to understand so many different languages spoke by travelers. Not to Far from Market street and other key parts of SF.

Filthy. Just disgusting. The carpet is black! You may as well just stay in a ditch or an alley. Travelocity will say the hostel won't do refunds. Not true. They will if you talk to the manager. Have Travelocity talk to the property and you can get a full refund.

Decent place. Only one bathroom/toilet per floor. The location is not ideal. No breakfast!

Very dirty and the receptionist unfriendly. A lot of plugs don't work and the Wi-Fi when you want.
At least it's well connected and economical.

It's not a place to go with kids. Very small rooms. They don't clean the rooms. They don't give breakfast. We speak Spanish and are not friendly. It has a complete and clean kitchen.

Satisfactory if you're looking for Basic Accommodation. Cheap and Cheerful with NO Wifi, the Shower was Hot and it's Close to Public Transport. NO Bed Bugs!

This place doesnt worth even 1 star, Why? lets start. The area is very not nice and very creppy, no parking in the area of this motel, the place is very dirty, and they placed me in a room with a local woman that lives there for a while and I know it because she brought all of her things to there, also there was water on my bed, I just went out from there in the middle of the night and went to my car to sleep. WORST night in my life.

The hostel is cheap but situated at one of the most infamous location of the city. Adjacent area is full with homeless and drug addicts. There is serious matter of concern with safety of guests. Corridors are narrow and stink. Rooms are clean but small. Bathrooms are rarely vacant and not clean. Staffs are very good and cooperating.

Top food with great products, but nothing for budget conscious.

Location is okay (it's not extremely safe or dangerous). It's a good price, cheap compared to the other hostels or hotels. Idk if you have to share a room but I did not. If you get room 404, it's a room in the roof seperate from the hotel, I guess since no one is ever there, it always smells like cigarette. You will also get a lot of srangers infront of that room since they come up to smoke. We ended up not covering ourselves with the covers because we weren't sure how clean they were. The bathrooms are functional and pretty spacious compared to other hostels. The kitchen is also very spacious and they have two cabinets with free ingredients like salt or tea. Hotwl is walking distance from BART and local stores.

There are many things people should know about this place. First of all, I should mention that I came to visit SFO for the first time. I read the reviews of this hostel and thought it would be a good place to stay for a few days. People should know that the hostel is located in a rough area in the city. I wish I had known this because otherwise I would have not booked this hostel. While I was walking towards the hostel, I realized that there were many homeless people walking around the streets. When I reached the street where the hostel is located, I saw people injecting drugs and three homeless guys yelling. Once I got to the hostel, the guy at the front desk was not friendly. I got the keys to my door to discover that the rooms had a strong smell, the bathrooms were not clean and the cleaning staff were using expletives to communicate with each other. This is not a place for people (especially young people) to stay. That is why I decided to leave right after I entered my room. I hope this review helps you realize that you should better pay a bit more and stay somewhere else. Stay safe!

We guys are new here and undoutedly these guys are helpful in everything: 1. Clean Kitchen; they even cooked eggs for us by showing us a demo of how to make it. 2. They are cooperative in terms of telling us where to go, How to get cheap accomodation, food and many more. All in all, I would love to stay till the last moment here.

Worst hostel I've ever been, 2 bathroom per floor 30-40 people per floor, homless people and strange, drunk, on drug people aroud the property and sometimes inside. Bad services, small room and no lockers. Avoid and spend something more… seriously…

Not even worth one star. The customer service sucks. I booked a room for my friend right now just so he doesn't have to wait 11 hours for his bus to Connecticut. But all I get is the runaround. Supposedly I booked it in my name instead of his, when I changed it they said they never got the email. Then I couldn't pay over the phone with my card. Shady f… place.

Reasonable rates for city accommodation. Staff is helpful, friendly, and wiping to work with your needs and obligations. I really liked this place.

The hostel is the cheapest of the city and accordingly little should be expected. The rooms are very small. There is a living-room kitchen where food can be prepared and also stowed away. In the hallways there are small spiders (in insufficient number) ; The suitcases must therefore be placed in the room, which can lead to a considerable space problem for six people.
The hostel provides bed linen at no extra charge. The use of sleeping bags brought in is prohibited. Outlets are unfortunately scarce — there are two pieces in the room. The bathrooms and showers are convenient but not really clean. Smoking is not allowed in the hostel. For this you should go to the street.
The centrally located hostel is a good choice for the small purse, but with the aforementioned smears. You have to know what to adjust to, then you can spend a good time here.

We booked this hostel why San Francisco was quite expensive. And this one had a reasonable price. But it's really been the worst places I've ever been. The guys at the front desk are friendly but the rest is fatal. Everything has carpeting and smells strange, they give you towels with holes, no elevator, very dirty bathroom, the rooms also don't smell too good because of the carpeting. The bed was not bad inside of what fits. I paid €40 the night, for €60 aprox you have some motels in the area that paint much better.

Good place to stay very nice and warm people the only bad thing is that they are a little sloppy the facilities and a little dirty.

So not the nicest hostel. Its a little old and dirty but if you're on a budget it's tolerable. Not enough power points in rooms. Showers are pretty gross. Kitchen is ok, again questionably clean. The location is pretty good in terms of prioximity to down town but the street itself is dirty and has quite a few homeless people. On the plus, staff are very helpful and friendly and genuinely try and help backpackers where they can. They offer a 12$ airport shuttle which is very convenient (9$ by public transport so it's worth it especially if you have luggage)

The staff is helpful and is close to the city centre. However, the shared kitchen is always busy, and does not seems hygienic. So are the restrooms and you have to usually wait for them. There is no parking but there is the hall next by where there is a 24h parking.

Unpolite owners, they don´t feel responsible for anything. Bad and dirty hostel. Don´t stay here, you will definitely regret it!

It was dirty and uncomfortable. There are better hostels in town! I dont recommend it.

Do not stay here! I mean it, save some more money for your trip and stay somewhere else. This was the worst place I've ever stayed at! It was extremely dirty and there where homeless people everywhere in the hostel and they slept in the rooms with people who actually paid for the beds. I was lucky and the homeless man only slept right in front of my room and not in it. It smelled so bad everywhere in the hostel and people were smoking weed and other stuff. There were only two bathrooms per floor for about 40-50 people. The kitchen was so dirty I didn’t even want to use the microwave. The area around the hostel was just as bad. I didn’t feel save at all especially as a woman. I would never ever stay there again! I would give no star if I could!

Dont stay, bad experience, dont Trust On that people, and please, dont make a reservation… go, and se by yourself… read the other comments… Im not the only one that speaks bad about the place.

It's in really sketchy area. Me and my friend were 2 girls and we encountered so many homelesses & weirdos on the street / stores around it. It has really bad smell, and ppl who staying there are not tourists, but just ppl who live there. Public restrooms & shower rooms were gross, and a cleaner breaks into a room without knocking or sth. Room is so small and bunk beds are crappy. It squeaks whenever you move lil bit on the bed.

The worst hotel I never summer… Yet I actually dea backpackers! But then the… Round the hotel not at but not at all safe. It smells like the urinates everywhere, garbage on the street, and addicts in the program! The hotel is disgusting toilets like the rooms and… ah yes the check-out in advance is not refundable… otherwise I'm not just a minute more. We have the impression that people live here than they are on vacation. There is only the Wi — Fi that works well at least.

I had a panic attack in the room. It was stuffy and overcrowded. Of course that was my first night. I actually met cool people there and it was ok. Well worth the price.

The place is a dump. The pictures are faaar away from reality, it smells like urine. At first, we got a dorm that was filthy, we complained and they moved us to a private room, which still left a lot to be desired (stained chairs and such).

I stayed here '04/'05. It was gr8! sixth street! ggp! haight!

It's exactly what you expect from a $30 a night hostel. Absolutely no bells or whistles. The showers are hot and the beds don't have bugs so I can't complain. All the travelers I met were nice and respectful so that was a huge plus. Also no curfew so if you want to be out later and don't mind walking past a few sleeping homeless people I would recommend this place.

It is near downtown but a shady neighborhood. The crowd is decent. Hostel is not very clean. It is manageable.

The worst location in San Francisco. Bad neighborhood and a bad home. Don't come here.

In short, many of the rooms don't deserve its price. The first room I and my friend had was almost tiny: nearly no more space other than a double bed and a set of awfully small desk and chair. The room we had later was bigger, but has some strange smell. Rooms don't have bathrooms inside and the block gives me a creepy feeling. Really don't recommend here.

It's a little bit expensive for what it is…! 70 dollars a night, shower and toilet Commons, next to the 6 th street (den addicts a…) Street of the hotel not secure, do not leave his vehicle (if there is) for the room we hear the neighbors break! :) Finally a review anyway! Small point possitive, the receptionist is very friendly; There is a shared kitchen available and an ATM…

Very good location, so close to Downtown and public transport on Market Street. Bathrooms are not the best, shower needs to be moderned. The kitchen is not so clean, even if there's often someone cleaning, but always on the phone and distracted.

The location was pretty good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The people were very friendly. But there was not enough space in the fridge for everyone, and the fridges would turn themselves on and off sporadically. The kitchen was also not very clean (little flies were all around).

Terrible neighborhood with homeless people, stuffy room, horrible bathroom. Too expensive for this level.

So far one of the cheapest hostel in downtown area. The price is really good, the location is close by all the public transport. There are so many homelesses and drug addicteds in the street. It's scary and sad. I had never seen somebody injecting drugs in its veins since last night. Another thing are the BEDBUGS. They are there in the matresses and carpet and they will bite all your body during the night. By the morning you'll itch till death and all your body will have red tiny spots. It's just the most disgusting thing in the world. That's a thing that have to be fixed with urgency. The bathrooms are ok but super busy even to pee in the morning. The kitchen is clean and organized. There are 2 good refrigerators, and everything you need there. The staff is helpful but kinda rude. They dont wash the blankets.

Don't stay here. If you do, bring earplugs and expect battered rooms, stains on the linen and pillows whose corners have been eaten at by mice.

Cheap and safe hostel. Where else can you stay for thirty dollars in San Fran?

Not the best hostel, but it is not so rubbish, I think they might be more careful in the building, and the area where it is located there are many vagrants.

It was like heaven -for the homeless. All the good memories from the daytime was ruined by the drunk/high homeless on the way back to the hostel. Just pay a little more and go somewhere clean and safe. Your safety and happiness are waaay more valuable than a few dollars.

Its right off of 6th street my luggage wasa taken the next night.

You really do get what you pay for. Super cheap and centrally located, this hostel is in a bit of a dodgy area but will serve in a pinch.

Personal is very rude ( ( I tried to come back my deposit (10$) for key But they told "get you luggage, get away and never come back here" I was really surprised, I just made check out 1 hour later VERY DIRTY HOSTEL VERY BAD AREA (A LOT OF HOMELESSES) TAKE CARE GUYS.

I used to live and work there in the beginning back in the eighties. Looks like it Hasn't change a bit, some really great mémories 30 years ago.

People are nice but it's smelling bad, the room is just big enough for the bed and four rooms has to share one bath. The bathroom was not clean. Do not forget shoes! Overnight parking in the street on five days of the week possible, on other days check other streets.

They let homeless drug addicts/sex offenders stay here. They steal your stuff when you are gone. If you are a girl, DO NOT stay here. It isn't safe. I had my passport stolen which completely ruined my trip from Europe. Management isn't helpful, the place is filthy and the beds are covered in bed bugs. Please don't use this hostel.

Well I stay here for two nights, the days between 25 and 26 of july, and lets start with the review, first of all the area is not that pleasent, many homeless around, but I never had a problem with them, the man in the desk was nice and helped me a lot. the rooms well they were not luxury of course but I didn't have a bedbug bite in my nights there and didn't hear someone complaining about them. there is no roof deck as they say, no all you can make pancakes, nothing of bikes rental, people staying there is amazing! Unfortunately they should make more activities to socialize, I met two friendly guys from Montreal, a girl from Germany, and a trio from Russia, unfortunately I didn't ask them for their information so not in contact anymore. shower was not like super clear but was normal and all day I saw people cleaning the rooms.

I slept there two times in 2011, it was pretty ok. The kitchen is big, usefull and you meet a lot of cool people. The bathroom and shower was ok too. Good place to stay 1 to 3 nights I think.

Positive things first. The hostel is pretty cheap — in November I paid 18, 50$ per night (tax incl. ). My room was surprisingly clean. The staff was very nice. Now for the bad things. The bathrooms were really dirty. In fact, there are many smelly places in the hostel. After sleeping in the bed I felt scratchy. There was a mouse in the kitchen. You have to pay 3$ for linen. No breakfast included. And there are many strange people in the hostel — not a good place to hang out and meet people. And outside of the hostel there are many homeless people. The poo on the streets is not from dogs. If you are lucky, you can get a bed in a 10bed-dorm at the Adelaide for 21$, but with breakfast included. So even if you are on a budget, you will not save any money by going to the European hostel. So all I can say is: If you like smell, dirt, strange people and mice, go there. Otherwise don't.
