Nice big bath tub! I’m happy with that. The window opens all the way that’s a plus. Bed is comfortable. I’ll be back! The price was just right too! $48. The only draw back is no on site parking. So that cost another $35 at nearby lot.

Small rooms, very noisy, single pane plastic windows so really noisy all night. Good location but lots of homeless people around. Hotel was very expensive for what it was. Only booked it for the location. Staff were friendly when we checked out, not at check in tho.

Great little hotel in a great location. Well worth it for the price.
And reception staff is super helpful.

Decent hotel. No frills and very basic accommodations. At least the Wifi is pretty fast. Staff is very helpful too!

We left the hotel due to the room not having A/C and some of our party members not feeling well. We checked out shortly after checking in, hoping for a refund. The staff were very understanding and gave us a full refund.

Very poor customer service at front desk never answered the phone the service was extremely difficult, inside the room the TV didn't have power outlet so we don't wash TV only 1 pillow very hard to park hard location.

A smart with only basics hotel to be refurbished postponed undefinitely hopefully with Airbnb threats not increasing the rates the hotel is well located.

Nice Hotel with a good size room. The hotel does not offer breakfast, but there are plenty of places to take it right next to it.

It's not a great hotel, but we spent two nights no problem. Very attentive to the reception and it is clean. The only bad thing is that you have to pay 35 USD per night parking.

It's a good hotel, clean and most imp thing is in Center, you can get everything near by all connecting public transport, good food and shopping area.

It's an old hotel, the rooms are dated and there is no AC so maybe don't go when it's hot. The hotel is a good central hub to explore the city, close to everything and inexpensive. Location is great and if you plan on not spending much time in your room, it has all the basics you really need. I liked my stay here and the staff were super! Tip: Ask for an higher up room at the back away from the street noise.

Service and location were good. Price was reasonable. Free internet. The one guy that works the front desk was very friendly. Accommodations were horrible. The entire building had a musty old smell, rooms were equivalent in size and shape as a bad college dorm room. If you need a place to crash close to stuff for relatively cheap and don't care about the quality of the room or hotel, this is your place. Need to stay for a week for business and plan on spending any amount of time at the hotel aside for sleeping, not so much.

It is a nice old building and in an interesting area. It is right across from the theatre so you see people go in and old all the time. Close walk to Union Square where there are lots of shops to explore. Hop on/hop off buses leave from Union Square. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but clean, beds are comfortable. Downside is there are no fridges/ice machines/laundry but love the place and would stay there again.

The hotel rooms are a little dated and without many amenities (no AC). It does have Wi-Fi, the connection is strong throughout hotel and the speed is good. The location is great and the staff are very helpful. While the rooms are basic the price they are asking is good for the area. Ask for a room at back of the hotel away from the road, it is significantly quieter. Recommended for the budget hotel traveller.

This place had NO AC! We came from AZ and we are dying in this room. Our daughter has special needs and can not regulate heat. We were not given notice that it would be 90° inside. Never did we expext this. (Nor this heat) It's a shame cause it is a great location.

Location is good, opp has 24 hr food to eat. However, very noisy, police cars went by twice at night. There's a pub that has loud music and people talking. Room very cold, no heater. Amount of water in bath can't be adjusted. No fridge. Staff was nice to provide a kettle to boil water.

First ever experience there, the moment the lift opened on the 6th Floor, there was a strange smell all over the place. Even in the room. Can't figure out what it was. So if you're looking for a nice, clean and fresh rooms, I think you won't get them here. But the good part is that it is in the middle of the activity center in the city, Union Square is just a quick walk.

Small Hotel a little ' vintage ' location fantastic and central, clean and friendly staff…

This hotel is clean, with a friendly & helpful front desk staff & is in a convenient location directly across from the Curran but there are NO amenities such as ice, AC or bellman. It's a little shabby but clean & everything worked including the elavator. Having said that, their prices were lower than anywhere else on a busy July weekend.

Staff is friendly but the location is not air conditioned and with single pane windows you will be up all night. It's as clean as a place this old can be but not clean enough. My kids won't even go in the elevator it's a bit scary.

A reminder, this is a cheap/standard hotel, it's only expensive because it's in the heart of San Francisco. With that in mind… For those who doesn't want noise at night or early morning ask for the rooms in the middle of the building such as # # # according to the room map (see uploaded photo) these are the ones without windows but have skylight. Rooms # faces front of hotel and # faces the ally. Like everyone says this hotel old, it doesn't have lot of modern amenities like in room coffee, safe etc. But it is clean without dirty smelly carpet or towels and most importantly it is in the middle of the city where the fun and food is.

Like a ghost hotel your paying for Location Windows rattle at night room is so small they have a old school TV which when turned on feels like it's going to explode. Shower is decent but I do not recommend using the shampoo on the wall don't trust no body with those things. Very very cold at night AC heater is one big unit which powers the whole building we have to put on sweeters to sleep. No parking included they use third party parking discount rate with a sigh saying any theft of items is not responsible for hotel when you get to the car park they want your keys and have the vechile Windows down when questioned they said owners leave it like that and became very rude. We parked elsewhere at least more secure.

Friendly staff. It's bare minimum for amenities. Works just fine for visiting the city. I feel safe here. Major tourist area around.

I moved to three different rooms due to many flying bugs in the rooms. The room was hot and humid with no A/C or fans to circulate the stagnant air. There was a hole in the window that faced the street which amplified the all the outside noise. Two theaters are located across the street and when the events ended the noise escalated. Delivery trucks were active between the hours of 2am and 5am. I could feel the coils in my mattress. When the guests next to me showered, it sounded as if an alarm was going off. The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating.

It's a damn small room, unreasonably for three people! There are no wardrobe for the versatile! The beds are totally uncomfortable, you get only back pain! Then constant noise from da street because the minutes clock either rescue or similar passes! Or 3 in the morning because the harley circling riders!
The price is much too high for this room!

Decent place, near Union Square and close proximity to everything, but that all you pay for, the room was not worth the price for 2 Stars, for double you can stay at Par55 or Westin. No A. C. No fitness room or any other amenities, just use it for sleeping. We had a view on 5th of parking lots and trash containers down below, get noisy at time with loading and unloading. 2 stars for me for the price/room, 4 stars for good location.

Really no amenities other than a hair drier. No tea or coffee, no wash cloths, no desk, no toiletries, nothing in the lobby except the clerk and some maps. No air conditioning either, and it was so hot I could hardly sleep. Walls are so thin I could hear my neighbors use the toilet, use the shower, and their conversations word for word. You basically pay for the location, which is pretty great. The clerk was really nice. Pretty expensive hotel for the poor quality, considering they also don't have parking. The person cleaning the rooms left behind their cleaning rag in the chair.

Conveniently placed, and adequately priced, I stayed here during a convention last year, and will do so again this year. It's not the greatest of hotels, but I don't plan on spending long in the room. It was fairly dated, but seemed to be going through a renovation last time I was there. Overall, it's a safe place to lock your stuff up right at Union Square. I'd have no problems staying here again.

For SPG members, I am not sure if its worth 12, 000 points. I have stayed at the Westin on Market for the same amount and the rooms are much better. Also parking at the Plaza Hotel is more than the Westin and the Westin is closer to Union Square. The pillows were really firm, they were definitely not the Heavenly pillows. The room was nice and the staff was very friendly, but I would consider other SPG properties downtown first.

OK, This is a real royal dump! Hard to believe they are not shut down by some health and safety authority. Our travel agent mistakenly booked it based on some false reviews and photoshopped pictures. It is horrendous! dirty, noisy, unsafe, Wi-Fi was around 1KB/s meaning — it takes all night to download a few emails. Beware! all the good and excellent reviews are anonymous or bogus/paid for no doubt. There are plenty other hotels around the same price range in the area. We were booked in for 5 nights and left after the 1st since it was not possible to move into a better place straight away. I travel professionally around the world a lot and this one is definitely one to remember in a bad way! It takes about 20 phone calls to get them to answer your call as well. The only thing that was not horrible was front desk staff — actually seemed like a nice guy. I feel for people for people who have to work in places like this one.

The front desk clerks were friendly and helpful. My traveling companion ran out of her medication and had to have it shipped over night to the hotel. The day front desk clerk logged a delivery alert into the computer and notified us when the medication was delivered. More than once I got detail directions for various locations in San Francisco from the front desk clerk. Union Square Plaza Hotel is close to shopping, restaurants and transportation. The maids clean and change the towels and bed sheets every day. I was looking for inexpensive place to stay and Union Square Plaza Hotel fit the bill and I happen to enjoy my stay. Okay, the Union Square Plaza Hotel is not a five star establishment, it's old, but clean. Geary Street is busy and noisy! If you looking for a quiet location and street noise is a issue then the Union Square Plaza Hotel is not the place to stay. The one thing that really bother me was the S-L-O-W internet connection speed, they really need to address that issue.

The worst hotel in which I have never been. Very unpleasant staff all helpful.

Small but clean rooms. Excellent location near Union Square, close to the cable car station and downtown. You no longer need for a city tour. Numerous breakfast opportunity close.

State of my room: grubby with stains on the walls, window leaks, Elevator noise at each exit (elevator was right next to the room)
TV not working, Cabinet not to use there totally run down
Attention: the room charge at check-in, so that a subsequent cancellation is hardly possible — who know why.
