Reviews of Hotel Zeppelin San Francisco 4*
Swanky atmosphere — not too loud. Mood lighting with a big fireplace perfect for enjoy a cocktail at the end of the day or coffee to start plotting the day.
Very pretty and clean, artsy and nice!
DON’T BOOK! I booked and prepaid for the Deluxe King Suite. When I arrived they had over booked the hotel and given the room I PAID FOR to someone else! Best part…the MANAGER lied and said it was Friday’s patron the caused maintenance issues in the room and that the room was uninhabitable. Had he just been honest and made it right there wouldn’t have been any issue. He promised refunds because he put me in a cheaper room and that I wouldn’t be charged hotel fees. Now, I am being doubled billed for the room and additional charges are being added to my credit card! Including $68 for parking! Zeppelin needs a new manager! I’m not done with this…
On our 10 year anniversary the staff entered our room unannounced. The staff was extremely rude. The room was less than expected. In general I did not feel comfortable in our outside the hotel. Then the hotel had the nerve to call me while still staying there to say I was lying about my Google review. The worst hotel experience I've ever had!
Great staff, lovely place!
Convenient location, clean, good service.
Location, and the rooms are SICK!
Fabulousness! Sikkkkkkk game room! Sexy bar! A must! Very RocknRoll!
Really fun venue. Will come back.
The clean rooms, great restaurants, foods, and the best services. The location is ideal too.
Atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. Walking distance to union square. Great dining for every budget. If you like to shop. It's all here.
Great hotel very casual and friendly staff.
Quirky hotel. Staff absolutely wonderful, really clean and great food.
Outstanding customer service, with no hesitation for any special requests. Ten stars!
Boutique cute hotel perfectly located near union square. Staff very friendly.
Staff were excellent as well.
Love the vibe of this place; great accommodations, staff and entire environment that surrounds the property!
Very nice hotel. Intimate setting, historic building love the fashion show runway on the bottom floor and the backyard was stunning. Really recommend this hotel walking distance at Union Square. Very convenient. ❤️
Loved it, small and nice room. Near by Macy’s,
This was the second stay at Hotel Zeppelin San Francisco. It is one of the coolest places to stay in this cool city! Clean and friendly too.
The staff was really cool and helpful. The decor was really nice. It is located near union square' walking distance to China town.
One of the coolest hotels I’ve stayed at. I love the arcade:adult and kid play room downstairs! Rooms are rock themed for true music fans.
I love this hotel, have stayed here before & have put other friends onto it, unfortunately tonight I just wanted an empty wine glass to take to my room, a small ask seemed impossible until someone got it right, not the service I expected.
This place! Hip, funky, great service, clean rooms, clean game rooms … I could go on! Hands down I would recommend and come back. This place is awesome. Love the decor.
Hi! Great hotel and great design. Too bad you don’t care much about over-charging your customers and then ignoring their requests.
I’ve been doubled charge by “mistake” on my last visit. Your representative was really helpful and refund some of the charges. However there were $700 still missing.
At that point all communication was lost by him. I tried many times (as you can see from the attached photos), but no reply.
… I even tried calling, but since a few months already passed, I think it is time to share my experience with the rest.
So,
Do you think I’ll ever get my money back?
Do you think that others should take that case as a warning on the way you run your business and appreciate your customers?
Would love to hear from you! You got my number.
Positives: Rooms are clean and stylish. Staff is helpful and friendly. Refreshing drinks at check-in. Negatives: Corridors smell like an old warehouse. They charge a resort fee of $25 of top of an already expensive room and there is not 'resort'. They don't even have a pool. I would not stay here again. I go to SF often for weekend fun and there are better places to stay.
We stayed here for a couple of nights before moving to our second hotel across the street. The location is ideal! Loads of shops and restaurants around. The hotel itself offer super good internet, the staff is very friendly and you have the option to use their electric scooters or rent bikes. Overall very satisfying stay.
We couldn't have had more fun, slept better or enjoyed such a lovely night if we tried. The shower and bubble bath was such a treat and that bed! OH MY GOD! It was like sleeping on a cloud in heaven. The team did everything in their power to make our stay perfect and it was indeed perfect. All the design details and flourishes really add that special touch to an already fabulous boutique hotel. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The rooms were nice, the staff was helpful, and the game room was so much fun! However, after reading other reviews, I was concerned about extra fees. I called and was assured that what I had paid covered everything. It did not. On our first night I had to call the front desk twice because neither our safe, or refrigerator worked. After complaining at the front desk, I was told 2 nights of the fee would be comped. At checkout, only one night had been comped. It's a shame that a great hotel isn't great because they aren't honest.
Awesome hotel, lots of cool art and design, and the bar games downstairs are fun! The dude at the bar in the restaurant made awesome cocktails too! Oh and the bed was really comfy, and they did this cool thing where you can ask for your room not to be made up and a portion of the savings goes to a local animal charity! A whole lot of cool going on!
This hotel is Amazing! From the moment you pull up to the hotel the service was excellent! The hotel staff here is amazing! Beds were very comfortable! The game room downstairs was a big hit for our kids & family! Housekeeping was incredible, anything you needed was sent up right away! Love that your room has a vinyl record player very nice touch! Close to union square as well as dining and shopping! Will definitely be staying here again!
Clean, friendly staff, a few steps from Union Square, the fashion and art galleries, another 2 steps and arrivals in the "long sea" of the city… astonishment. Only drawback the restaurant but that compensates with the bar which gave us two Aperol Spritz not bad.
Perfect location, nice modern rooms that are are a decent size, clean and well maintained, polite and attendant staff. Rooms nicely cleaned. Just 2 streets away from union square, and $5 — 6 uber ride to the cheaper bars — or the piers. Would highly recommend this hotel.
We had a great time at the hotel. It was clean with fun decor and interesting layout, plus a huge t. V. In our room. Great location. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would love to stay here again.
We stayed there only one night but we can say that it was perfect… Good location Clean room… perfect bedding…
We stayed for 4 nights and found it to be the coolest stay ever! The staff was very friendly and helpful (I had a minor accident the last day and they were very helpful with ice, alcoholic wipes and bandaid). The staff and the food at the Rambler was also great! The room was cool, the only downside was the bed, a bit too hard for our taste… A very cool hotel with excellent service! /Mr and Mrs Bratt.
Nice hotel with great rock & roll design. Room is a bit small yet very comfortable. Great staff.
The major disappointment was an after the fact amenities fee, I couldn't tell you what amenities I paid for though. I think the rooms are cool, no tubs for those who need them though just a lovely shower. Loved the idea of shampoo, conditioner & soap in liquid format. Less waste. There is no bar, but one nearby. The location is wonderful, but view out the window merely a bland wall. One free water bottle per room and great Nescafe coffee maker. All in, if they axe the amenities fee I'd return. I don't mind paying the going rate, just be upfront with all charges. When I checked in I was told only incidentals would hit my card because I paid upfront. Wrong.
Great building in all. Very funky, psychedelic, atmosphere. Super chill and a very nice place to hang out and enjoy the city of San Francisco. The game room in the basement is by far the best amenity here. HOWEVER… 1) The staff during our stay was rather rude and very carefree. We asked for ice on several occasions and did not receive it until about thirty minutes later (if was midnight when we asked). 2) Also, I got double charged for my stay full stay. An extra $1, 100. This issue was fixed but caused a burden for us to sort it out. The woman who I was dealing with told me"I'm not the person you should be talking to. " So we asked for the manager immediately after those words came out of her mouth. 3) We were staying as part of a wedding party bundle. The bride and groom had gifts to be distributed to the rooms prior to the guests arriving — they just sat in the lobby and had to be asked by the GROOM to be given out. Unbelievable. A shame for such a beautifully decorated place.
A short list of what you can expect: 1. Staff members willing to do the bare minimum or in most cases nothing. 2. Not having your room cleaned for days on end and having to call for your own clean towels. 3. No one offering to handle luggage. 3. No one caring that there are 15 people staying there in a wedding party and that the weekend meant a lot to the family. I could go on and on about a lot, but the main thing is that the employees could care less. Their blazers and graphic tees must come with a mandatory attitude. I was told by one person (AFTER getting charged for my full stay and extra $300) and I quote, "Oh, well we don't tell anyone that, it's just on our website. Sorry dude. " Although the decor is really cool, it is absolutely not worth the money in any way, shape or form. Save yourself the trouble and go across the street to the Mariott.
Very trendy and hip hotel. The rooms are very spacious and the restroom is very nice. It has A great vide through out the hotel. A little tricky getting to different levels of the rooms due to weird hallways, but other than that its very nice. It is also in a very busy part of the city. There are lots of food choices and bars within walking distance.
Great location and clean rooms.
Great atmosphere, modern rooms. Confusing hallways as two buildings are connected but still amazing. Kind of sketchy neighborhood.
The lobby is very clean and nicely decorated. Upon arrival we were given welcome drinks. The room is average sized and very clean. The hotel is one block away from union square and many restaurants are within walking distance.
Awesome hotel. Very hip and new. Very nice game room and living area. So nice.
Nicely stylish boutique hotel. The rooms are small, reminiscent of New York hotels but the room designs are chic, music themed wallpaper, faux concrete bathroom tile, and a very large TV. Also an in room Nespresso coffee machine. The lobby bar is a great place to hang out and the attached restaurant is convenient. Check-in/out was smooth and staff very friendly. Breakfast wasn't too exciting and I find the lack of fresh squeezed orange juice an annoyance, but otherwise the overall experience is very much what you would expect from a designer boutique hotel.
This was a nice surprise. I stayed two nights and found it very comfortable. Great location, very cool decor, rooms are small but nicely appointed … I liked it and would stay again. The reason it doesn’t get five stars is because I felt as though I was inconveniencing front desk staff upon check in and drying my stay. I don’t know if it’s just San Fran in general, but there was a lack of warmth and welcome from the front desk staff. When I’m spending $180/US/nt on a room, I expect a warm smile and a bit of friendliness when I arrive. Is that just me being Canadian? I like friendliness. I don’t know. But that’s my complaint. Some staff were better than others. But I felt worried to ask a question or even to just be there. Smile more… be warm.
Super swanky hotel. Rooms are large… Especially the bathroom. Funky feel. Place is clean, floors are a little warped but doesn't effect your stay. Everything was quiet and peaceful. Netflix was malfunction and they fixed it in minutes. Definitely take the drink at the front desk… It was delicious! They even took care of my amazon delivery while I was there.
Looks a lot better when you're on the inside. Cleanly, polite staff, nice rooms (except for the suite we had, should have come with 2 at least. Everyone who had to potty had to go through the bedroom to get to the latrine…
Nice clean hotel close to a lot of great food and bars. Staff is friendly. There have bikes to get around town too. Work out facility is clean and working properly. Most hotels I visit the gym is worn out. Over all great place.
The Hotel is very well located, the facilities are good, depending on the room you are assigned, we were given a very girl that he had to enter sideways, but we changed without a problem. The bell Staff or Security, too trustworthy, let's say that friendly but, almost dealing with inappropriate. — Reception staff very correct. —
Cozy place, very central, close to everything.
Old hotel that has been remodeled to be very hip and modern, with a rock and roll, rebel counter culture type theme. Huge flat screen TV in rooms, with lots of cool options for watching cable as well as pairing with your mobile device to stream Netflix or other online content. Overall, I like the look and layout, and found our room to be comfortable. A few nitpicks, though: king size beds are short, my feet were hanging off the edge. (I'm a little over 6 feet tall. ) Also, water pressure in the shower is pretty weak, even though the shower interior itself is very modern.
Great location, friendly staff and very cool theme. I stayed here with my wife on our honeymoon and it was very easy to travel anywhere we wanted to go from the hotel. The staff was very kind and willing to help us find anything we wanted to do!
Nice boutique hotel in a great location. Cool designs. Could do with more hanger / hooks in bathroom. And some awkward placement of bathroom fixtures. Otherwise great place to stay.
That was a super unexpected surprise. You never really know what you are going to get when you check into a hotel. I will give this a 5+ star rating and a solid two thumbs up. Very friendly staff and the decor was just right. Not over done but the little details were perfect and most unique. The room was just enough. Small cozy and just right for two. Location was great. Took a walk though the city and ended up down the street for some amazing sushi. We enjoyed the Nespresso in the room and the restaurant down stairs had a super tasty breakfast. I wanted a t shirt but they were out of my size so the receptionist took my info and said she would have one sent to me when they come in. All in all… I look forward to my next visit. I will not need to look anywhere else ever again when I come to visit my favorite city in the world. Thank you for everything. I had a fantastic time. Cheers.
Nice enough but, for me, expensive for what I got. TBH I don't know prices of similar hotels but if company hadn't paid, I couldn't have afforded this Room was very clean, comfy bed and clean bathroom. Nice toiletries and soft towels. Big TV and nice coffee maker were nice touch. Wardrobe access limited closeness of bed. Solid safe inside. Noise transmitted from upstairs easily, which was a disappointment and woke me each morning. Maybe I was beneath service area? Functional little gym area with linked machines. Quiet bar area but shut at 10pm! Overall it was fine. But nothing really special and for me, not as much as I would expect for the price.
The hotel nice and staff very pleasant, but a few days after we left, we saw that we made a charge on card for $ 7 for a bottle of water that we do not get (nor do we play the courtesy) and 8dias after, we have not returned the deposit of 200 dollars. The hotel nice and staff very nice, but days after leaving, we saw that they made a card card charge for 7 dollars of a bottle of water that we did not consume (we did not touch the courtesy) and 8 days later, they did not return the $ 200 deposit.
Stayed here for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon road trip. Staff are excellent. Location couldn't be more perfect. This is a unique hotel and I would recommend it to anybody who asks where to stay in San Francisco.
Beware of room 626! The AC is broken and they still give it to their guests. Room 626 was so loud from the AC it felt like a vacuum cleaner was running. Also the air was very bad and musty. I thought that this is just what you get nowadays in SFO and did not complain. On our 4th night it got so hot that I called the reception for help. That was when we were told that the AC in this room was broken. I could not believe that they put us in this room knowing that the AC was broken. We got another room for the last night. This room was pretty nice.
Great location, just a stone's throw from Union Square. Very nice and well furnished rooms.
Hotel Zeppelin is conveniently located in Union Square and has great rock and roll memorabilia as decoration in the building. I enjoyed my stay there; the room was very comfortable and clean. The service was pretty great too, and the concierge was helpful in answering any questions our group had. Overall, I enjoyed my stay there and would recommend Hotel Zeppelin.
Nice hotel, kind of hard to find your room if you are on the seventh, but fun to find your room if you are at the seventh :p Entertainment room is awesome and complementary bike rental is a plus. Location is great and staff is nice.
I had a pleasant visit in the bar with my son. It wasn't too loud and we were able to talk. :)
Highly recommended this hotel. Fantastic location and incredibly accessible. Comfortable, clean rooms and lovely staff. Swerve Rambler though. Massively over priced.
It's a very nice and modern hotel in the middle of San Francisco. It was a perfect place to start discovering the town. Also the next stop of the famous cable car is not far away from the hotel. Rental car companies are near by, if you want to drive over the Golden gate bridge. But for the price they ask, an included breakfast would be good. But there are nice places to eat around.
Central and well-kept in detail.
This is a wonderful hotel! The facilities are clean with great modern decor. The rooms are every bit what is advertised. I especially liked the urban style of the rooms and music theme. The staff was very helpful. My only issue was the elevator system. Some of the upper floors are only accessible by leaving the first elevator, crossing the hotel, and getting in another elevator.
Hotel design in the middle of San Francisco. They lend free bikes for the day. The hotel is clean, quiet and the reception is good. The room is not very large but it is enough to just sleep. Really well placed!
Funky little hotel. Friendly service. Cool games room downstairs. Bar attached to the hotel is great. The menu looked good although didn't order anything. Location is great if you want to be close to Union Square but we would have preferred something a little less touristy.
Great service. Lots of swanky spaces to hang out and have a drink in the lobby or game room downstairs. Comfortable bed and nice shower. Climate control was easy to figure out and worked great. Valet parking was easy. Overall a good experience and a restful night.
Great location just 1 minute or 2 from Union Square. Close to an unsafe part of town as well, but the concierge are very informative on where to go and what places to avoid. The rooms are a little on the smaller side but it was clean and quiet. We were overlooking Post St. Would stay here again. Drinks & food from The Rambler were great. My friends and I enjoyed the game room downstairs too!
Very cool — the game room is awesome and the lobby fireplace was great — could use better TV signal in room. Once you can figure out the in-room espresso machine, it's a really great cup of coffee — location is perfect and staff was very friendly.
Alternative. Non-Economic Central location.
Great Hotel in a great location.
The staff were fantastic. Always helpful and with a smile on their face. The evening cocktail bar was great too.
The first in the room smells really bad. You are gonna take time to get adapted to the smell. Although this is not may main complain. The main complain is that we kept our bag into their storage to hang out during our last day of stay in SF, and when we picked it up, it was broken. The metal was broken and we have no idea how did they broke it. Not sure if something was stolen from the bag, but we are trying to remember everything in there.
Wife and I stayed a couple weeks ago, first time to S. F. 3 nights. Prices were steep, but, I guess in line with Union Square prices, decent location. Rooms small with very limited electric outlets (understandable for such an old hotel). The kickers for me were A: $50 per night for parking (yes I know parking is precious in S. F. But a valet lot 50 yards away around corner was $25, I parked there) B: after first night, we went sight seeing, when we returned, I found a used Alcatraz Island tour ticket and a freaking black WIG sitting on top of my suitcase. (I ASSUME from housekeeping) (I'm still disgusted) I took it down to the desk and asked for a manager, no manager here tonight. And " Please don't put that here on the desk, theres a trash can" took my phone #, said manager would call tomorrow. No call, returned to desk following eve, asked for manager again, no manager here today either, " I'll send him another email and make sure he calls you tomorrow". Long story short, there was no manager on duty during my entire stay, I never received a call from anyone. I even called back there several days after leaving, still no manager. They obviously just didn't care. I will now be posting this review everywhere I can find to post. Oh,, I did overhear one of the staff telling someone that starting in Nov 15, they would be getting a full hotel renovation. Maybe they should hire some management as well.
Worst experience I have had with a hotel in the $300+ price range. Only one elevator that takes forever. The room is small. The room is old. The room is outdated. The room smells. The room is dirty. The bathroom is outdated. The bathroom has dirty towels. The heating and cooling does not work at all properly. Freezing my butt off that night. Luckily my family was there only one night. The bed creaks all night long. Wifi is slow. You have to ask for Wi-Fi, which was slow as f*#$. They charge me for mini-fridge usage when I did not use it. They charge a retainer "incidentals" (
Even though it is. An old hotel, very well located.
This place is in need of a renovation by THIRTY YEARS. The décor is from the late 70’s, early 80’s at best – so minimum 30 years worn. It's so tired one of the two lifts has been out of order for my ENTIRE stay of 10 days and was broken BEFORE my arrival and most likely not fixed now. For NINE mornings in a row I had to walk six flights of stairs due to the builders consuming the one working lift. EIGHT of the mornings I complained to the staff — to be told it won't happen again. Returning from my business trips in the early evenings it wasn't the builders who occupied the lift – it was housekeeping. My calm and collective worn thin I did stress there would not be another incident without me losing my patience – what happened ANOTHER morning of lifts being consumed by builders. BUT it clearly it wasn't me just feeling the pain. An American gent lost his cool and vocally exploded at the front desk – and with great reason – he also experienced 4+ days of walking loads of flights of stairs morning and afternoon. Normally us Brits poke fun at the Aussie folk, however fellow business traveller I met in the hallway waiting for a lift down had decided to check out early and pay 50% extra at another hotel due to the “filthy and grubby” (his expression) linen, air vents that had not been cleaned in months and generally poor state of the hotel room.
The staff provide world class service. They were friendly, polite and true professionals. Bed was comfy and room was clean. Small little touches made the stay unique such as complimentary Irish coffee, cookies and wine hour.
Excellent Customer service! I travel a lot and the people that work at this hotel make it a great experience! It's a smaller hotel and the staff make you feel welcome — very clean and great location. Enjoy happy hour in the lounge the bartenders are excellent and remember you! I would highly recommend this hotel!
Wonderful hotel. Fantastic staff and great atmosphere. We felt very at home and it was in the center of everything! Will definitely stay here again!

This place was awful. So many negative things to list. Rip off is Tiny rooms with faulty heating. TV skipped. Espresso machine didn’t work. They over charged us and didn’t care to resolve the issue. Poor customer service and FREE breakfast was a joke. The code in the lobby was disgusting. They charge $50 to park in valet. The smell in the room was so gross. We will never stay here again!
