The hotel is comfortable, secure, in a great location, and the staff are nice both in person and on the phone. The building itself feels like Old San Francisco. I stayed in a room with a shared bathroom and it was available literally every single time I needed it, and only once did I ever have to wait for the shower. The coffee and muffins were appreciated, and the lobby is a great place to decompress at the end of a long day. I will be back (and I will remember to ship my stuff before check-out day. Haha).

Nice little boutique hotel. 20 minute walk to Moscone with great restaurants nearby.

Love this historic hotel. Have stayed there many times. Convenient and affordable.

The rooms are really really small. I had to go purchase a room plug to make the room smell better. I can't wash my face in the sink because it's so small and they put a shelf right above it. Sink isn't draining right away so the water is sitting in it for a while. No place for my toiletries in the bathroom. Need cool air? Open the window. No dresser for clothing. Desk staff rude and unhelpful. Absolute disaster all around.

Meh, 275$ for a Thursday night. Not so much. On the upside, it was clean and smelled good with nice linens. On the down side, we could have paid much less if knew how basic and small the room would be. There was no air conditioner, the muffins were gross. The decor was way too simple and basic. Save some money and stay at Fusion hotel or something for only 100$. If this hotel was only 100$ I would have given 5 stars for a basic experience if the value would have been appropriate.

Its in the heart of the city and great for travers to reach the public transportation.

Stayed for 4 days. Located at the business district. Parking (valet) only at $57 per day, good until 3pm the next day. Should park at Ellis O Farrell parking for a cheaper option. Walking distance to union square. Breakfast is muffins (cranberry or banana with nut) with some choice of coffee.

Located in the thick of downtown San Francisco, the Mosser, is close to many of the attractions that any visitors would want to see. Around the corner from the Mosser is the center of public transit making everything in the bay completely accessible. The staff is courteous and prompt. There is complimentary coffee in the mornings with very good muffins, but it would better to have more options. The rooms are small, but since there is so much to do around the Mosser you won't be spending much time in the room anyway.

Small room, bathroom small as in the train, but if for 1 night then normal. "Breakfast" is coffee, tea and 2 kinds of cupcakes.

Great price in comparison with other hotels. Rooms are small but very comfortable, clean. Staff is nice and room service quick. Location is amazing, right in the middle of all the fun, Union Square is full of stuff to do. Close to restaurants, cafes, and many shopping locations. I would have given the place 5 stars if it just wasn't that old.

The Mosser is a beautiful hotel decorated in art deco style. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and able to leave our bags while we toured the city. Our room was clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning so we cracked the windows open a bit. The next morning we were provided with ear plugs for the street noise, (which could be loud, but I sleep through anything). There is a complimentary continental breakfast of muffins and coffee available in the morning. The only complaint was the water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent and nothing to watch on TV, but that could just be San Francisco and what is available. All in all, it is a nice hotel and I would stay here again.

I've stayed here twice on short stopovers. The location is extremely convenient and the staff very helpful and friendly. A big bonus for holding my bags the day I left (my flight wasn't until 9pm) and for letting me check in early when my flight arrived in the morning. The breakfast was ok, but nothing special. I enjoyed my stay and next time I come through San Francisco, I'll probably stay here again.

It's ok for a few hours. Customer service was pretty good and satisfactory. They didn't have a kitchen or a kettle or mugs but reception was nice enough to give me hot water from the staff room. The rooms are tiny and you can hear everything going On in the hall. They do have more than basic things, which I liked, for example, toiletry, iron, etc. staff guides you to where you can go if you have any questions. Cleanliness was spot on. There was a lot of lighting in our room, and couldnt block it with just the blinds they had. : (we wanted to sleep because we were jet-lagged and just booked this place for the day, just to get ahead on our rest. The location is PERFECT if you wanna go shopping. Perfect. The shower water pressure sucked.

It's okay. Extremely small rooms, no fans or anything for air circulation so we had to have the windows open. This made it even louder (which made it hard to sleep) then it already was with the street noise. Also very bright as the hallway lights shine through the rooms. Bed was comfy and liked that it had a bath.

Massive up charge for parking. Tried to charge me oversized vehicle when took to parking myself there was no extra oversized charge. Tiny room. But was comfortable. Beds were really small I didn't get the bed I requested. Good location. Management needs adjustment. My room was soooo noisy from the bar below. When I brought it up to management, they played stupid. Be careful I had to sleep with earplugs the floor was vibrating from the bass below.

Stunningly refurbished old style hotel, superb service and very reasonably priced. Complimentary Wi-Fi, tea/coffee and muffins for breakfast. Ideal location for shopping. Only downsides are small rooms and shared bathroom facilities — but all modern and very clean.

I greatly enjoyed our stay here. Prices were slightly cheaper than other hotels in the area and it satisfied our needs for a three night stay for two people. Rooms are on the smaller side, as well as our private bathroom, but if you just need a place to go back to at night after exploring the city, I recommend this hotel. Room was very clean, staff was somewhat friendly. Very light breakfast offered consisting of muffins and coffee. Location was great, and close to cable car service, BUT exercise extreme caution when coming back at night. Around the corner from the hotel, on Market St, there is always a large congregation of homeless people who hassled and yelled at us as we were walking to the Mosser. EDIT: I see a lot of people complaining about noise, but when we stayed, the hotel provided sealed, disposable ear plugs in our bathroom, but we didn’t need to use them. We did not hear any louder noise than hotels we’ve stayed at previously and felt it was reasonably quiet.

I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. For the price, you can get something much better. The room was small and quite dirty. There were crumbs all over the desk and chair, the shampoo had crusty soap all over it (making me feel like it had probably been refilled rather than replaced). I had an inward facing room so there was no view. Breakfast consisted of muffins. The hotel staff were friendly.

Great deal for the location! The staff was really nice and out room was very clean. We rented a deluxe room with an attached bathroom. We were a bit worried about the size after reading other reviews, but there was plenty of room for 2 people, luggage, and souvenirs. Unfortunately being an older hotel, we were bothered by noise from the neighboring rooms and the elevator which was right outside our room. They held on to our luggage after we checked out so we could spend our last day in the city.

I would stay here again especially for a convention — Moscone is a block away! Pros: Fabulous location, good price, staff is knowledgeable and will do anything to assist guests, delicious homemade muffins and strong coffee for breakfast included in your rate. Cons: very noisy at times from being on a busy street (free earplugs are provided) and the tons of homeless people all around the area. They do not come into the hotel (and there are many hotels in the area) but I was kind of surprised. I supposed San Fran is so expensive that more and more people are having trouble making a living.

Location is great. But there many negatives. There is no AC, sound travels through adjoining doors and in from the hallway. The blinds do little to block light infiltration and the shower has pressure but seems to lack the ability to get one wet.

This hotel is a bit more affordable than others for the location. Unfortunately, that means there are some sacrifices in quality. While the staff is very professional and friendly, the rooms are small and lack of insulation. I could hear my neighbors and everything outside. I used earplugs every night. Still the staff is great.

Great hotel in great location… very geoflegt and clean… very good address for a city trip.

The historic building is very cool! That being said, you are in a historic building. The walls/ windows are not sound efficent. It is loud all night and there is no AC (which is usually no big deal as the weather is nice). Also the blinds are not the right fit for the windows so light comes in. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is great!

The location is perfect to visit SF in a few days without taking the car.

Great staff. Welcoming. Accommodating. Compact rooms, efficient. Walls are thin, but quiet for the most part. Handy hallway toilets and a bath to use if your room's bathroom is being used. Double windows buffer the street noise, but it is San Francisco, steet noise can be intense, and loud neighborhood construction noises, even on Saturdays, no window can prevent you from hearing it.

A little late of a review but we stayed here a couple months ago, I booked it last minute in the middle of the night as we needed a hotel the next day, this one had the best price for us and so I booked it. We arrived to the hotel and we were greeted by a door man. The lobby is big and the staff were very nice, we got the keys to our room and when we got in it was so adorable. We were at the end of the hallway in a quaint room, with a bathroom. Our windows fully opened up to the busy buzz of the town, the smell of fresh food came right in the window and the cool breeze was a nice touch, I quickly rushed into the bathroom to shower, we got in and the tub is so deep we both tripped getting in, if you're a bath person, this is your heaven, the water was warm and the window also opened up to let the steam out. My husband and I loved this hotel so much, when we go to the bay again, we will stay here. Hopefully in the same room. It was really nice and the noise was not bad at all. Not too sure why people are saying that. I enjoyed the hussle and bustle of the city, at night it was calm. The only down side is the elevator, it is kind of slow but the stairs work just as well. We used the stairs for quick ins and outs. All in all ot was great:)

Don't book here! noisy rooms and no respect for guests. We complained a lot of times about the noise and they tell us it is normal because of the disco/restaurant there is next to the hotel. It is almost midnight and they continue playing loud music. Incredible. Worst experience ever in a hotel. (The hotel is kind of a hostel and there is a lot of noise also in the corridors from other room guests). Rooms are small and the whole building is very old.

I love this hotel. I've been staying here for almost twenty years. Every time I visit San Francisco and want to stay close to Downtown, this is where I go. The location is unmatched. Easy access to BART, MUNI trains and buses less than a block away. Walking distance to all the shopping, bars, restaurants, museums and nightlife you could ever want to see. The staff is very friendly and the place is very modern and chic. The rooms are quite small, but tastefully decorated, always clean and the price just can't be beat. Highly recommended.

What a gem, the Mosser is. And at such an affordable rate in Union Square, close to everything! You can have shared bathrooms which further makes it reasonable. The common rooms are clean, no matter what time of the day. The staff are warm and helpful. The Friday wine-tasting is an absolute delight.

The Hotel refused to upgrade my room as the one that was booked requires you to stay in a room with no bathroom and share a toilet with the entire floor. I checked with them every hour on the hour and they kept telling me there was no rooms available. Went online and instantly found the room I wanted available. I was more than willing to pay for the upgrade but they just kept saying they had nothing. Upon rebooking online all they had to say was "you must have just looked at the perfect time" and all they offered for the massive inconvenience was a bottle of cheap wine. A very accurate description of there rooms would be jail cells or dorm rooms. The queen size bed was turned sideways in the room because you would not be able to open the door if you put it in straight. Oh and you can rent a mini fridge for 25 dollars a night but you cannot fit it in most rooms! They slid a note under my door around 5AM saying I would be moving back to a smaller room after I paid for the room that actually had a bathroom in it. Breakfast includes water, coffee, and muffins! Really was not impressed with anything about this hotel, especially when I found long black hairs in my sheets which leads me to believe they do not always change the sheets.

It stinks in the hotel, yes… but scam. They're dishonest. On our arrival we did present to the front desk that the room smelt of smoke. We are not smokers. They sent the concierge to do a check and he told us that it was the smell of the disinfectant and that it was impossible for someone to have smoked seen the fire systems. We slept for three nights in that room with the stench and two hours after our check out we get an email to warn us that as the room smelt of smoke we would be charged additional 100 dollars + credit card fees. After responding to the email explaining the situation, we felt that we had probably smoked some of our guest. We never had guests in the room. We were in San Francisco for New Year's and we don't know anyone in town nor did we pick up anyone in the room. We advised to ask for confirmation to make clear to the receptionist to whom we did present the problem as soon as we got into the room or to the concierge who came to the room to check our complaint and told us that it was the smell of the detergents, but they Obviously they do not, because it is not in their interests. They put owl prices on the portal and then increase of another 100 dollars. Despite the various attempts to trace the truth the hotel never inquired with the girl at the front desk and the Porter on duty on the evening of our arrival.

The hotel is conveniently situated for transport to all the tourist hotspots in San Francisco. The desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The single rooms are tiny with no wardrobe space or room to put your case. The breakfast is just a couple of muffins and a hot drink and there is no room service. On the upside the hotel is a good price compared to many others so if you are looking for just a place to sleep I would recommend this hotel.

The Mosser Hotel is by no means lux, yet it is clean, stylish, and well located between Market Street and the Moscone Center. It's an older hotel with small rooms and bathrooms, however the bath tub itself was a nice depth for a soak. In the morning the hotel offers complimentary muffins and decent coffee in the lobby lounge. Valet parking is expensive as usual downtown ($49/day) with convenient in and out privileges. They ask that you request your car at least 20 minutes in advance of when you need it. Compared to other downtown hotels this hotel seemed priced about right, or perhaps slightly overpriced for what it is and offers. I would definitely consider this hotel in the future, but I would also check with the other nearby available hotels are offering.

Great location, helpful staff, very nice room. The room was small but worth the cost. Room had no A/C (who needs it in SF) but had a ceiling fan and a radiator. I was surprised how comfortable and clean the room was. Right around the corner from the BART station — you don't even have to cross the street to get to it. About a 20 minute walk from Caltrain, which was great as a friend came up from the south bay to visit. Target, Starbucks, and Walgreens all within a short walk.

Got a great deal on the room. It's in the SoMa area and right next to public transit. Room is small, but plenty sufficient to drop your stuff and explore the city. Great staff. Highly recommended!

I stayed in a Shared Bathroom Queen. It was all as advertised, but the room was definitely very small. Even moving about the hallways and stairs, and using the single shared bathroom, felt cramped. The location worked out great, and the bed was comfortable enough. I would probably stay here again on a budget, but I might pay a bit more for my own bathroom and shower.

The hotel is exactly what is expected. It is old, but with character and quite clean. The rooms are very small, but affordably priced. The queen room with the shared bathroom in the hall is the only option I would choose here since the primary draw is the affordability of the hotel in such a nice location.

So far I am loving my stay. I was worried reading past reviews about the noise, space and mattresses but I have to say I barely heard anything from the club below, the space is small but I didn't mind it at all (I was the only one in a Queen Shared bathroom), and the mattress is super comfy. I love that it is only 5 min walk to the moscone center and it has a lot of areas to shop, eat and drink around. Definitely going to stay here again in the future. The staff is so kind and accommodating.

Room was decent. I'm upset and blown away that it cost as much for me to park as it did for my room. I thought I'd gotten a great deal online, but ended up paying double what I had expected. When I tried to make sense of it, I was told, "Sir, your don't have to park your car… " I just wish there was more transparency instead of the bait and switch that I experienced. Made me displeased with both this hotel and Hotwire where I purchased it. I plan on following up through the proper channels to make doorman complaints.

We were in room 518, which is a corner unit. We can see 4th from our bay window. The queen deluxe room with private bath is small but it was perfect for us. We enjoyed the natural lighting and the cross breeze from having both windows open on opposing walls. The bed was very comfortable and there was just enough storage for our belongings. At night it is loud. They provide ear plugs but we didn't use them. We also didn't close the windows because we really enjoyed the cool air. Great little cozy hotel. No complaints.

This is most definitely not a 3 star experience! The building is old and decrepit and little renovation has occurred since its construction. The hallway carpets all outrageously dirty with a strong odor of mildew, mold, URINE, and strong chemicals. Luckily, the odor inside the room was not as strong. However, I had to make a trail from the bathroom to the bed with towels so that my feet did not get sticky from the carpet. For people with allergies, you do not want to stay here. I had to use the Netti-pot every night and morning just to be able to breath. Additionally, the Mosser fails to warn people before they make a reservation that they are currently under construction in the lobby and that they are using materials that are deemed by the state of CA as birth defect causing. Upon your arrival to the hotel, you will get to read the plaque that indicates your lovely visit to San Francisco could be impairing your health and the health of your children. If you are bringing children, you should be advised that this hotel is a party hotel where guests party all night long. On our last night, we had to call the front desk on three different occasions starting at 2:30 am. It did not help that we had to be up at 6 am to catch our plane. In terms of management, the Mosser can not get anymore shady.

Great location It is located at 4th street and very easy to access to anywhere in downtown. When I was booking, I could not get better location that matches with budget. If you consider the location is the biggest matter, this hotel can be righr choice. However the room is very small (seems like less than 9 square meter) it is small as much as budget hotel in european area. But bed was comfortable and housekeeping quality was fine. Moreover, some of the rooms did not have private bath room, make sure to check if your choice is shared bath room or not. One last thing there was no refridgerator I had to pay one time fee (25usd) for one week stay use.

Not such a good service at my first day here, thry treted me like an idiot. The supposed to be queen deluxe room is a tiny little room with a single bed with a mirror and sink just on top of the bed…

Temp control fail. Hot and sweaty on a cold night. Noisy fan and heater. I'm normally a sound sleeper. Spend more for elsewhere. Lack of sleep on business trip not worth it.

I was there a week ago. The rooms seems designed for dwarves, they are extremely girls, there is no place to put the suitcases and the piletita of bath to clean it inside the room, beside the TV. Very small and uncomfortable. It also takes place for breakfast. I would like to place less than one star, but there is no such option.

Found this hotel on Expedia for $99/night. When booking, I knew what to expect — hostel style rooms and a little flair. My friend and I shared a hall-style bathroom that was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and bath soap. The room was cozy and the AC worked great. Would highly recommend for travelers on a budget.

I really enjoyed staying here. It's an old apartment building converted into hotel rooms. It has the slight feeling of a college dorm because opting for a cheaper room means you share a bathroom and shower with your neighbors. Having said that, however, I never had to wait for the bathroom or shower, so it wasn't an inconvenience at all. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home and are more than happy to answer any questions you have about SF. Honestly, my only complaint is they don't have Q-tips in the rooms, so if that's the worst part, they are doing an excellent job! Also, they have coffee and muffins every morning—the raisin bran one was pretty tasty, but it's hard to eat in when you know Blue Bottle Coffee is right around the corner with coffee and breakfast foods galore.

The room was small, which is fine but it's not very luxurious. But the phone in the room was terrible. And the driver brought the wrong car and then took another half a hour to get our car. It's cheaper for you to park the car yourself and walk just a few blocks to get it. On the plus side the lobby music is interesting.

Perfect place for somebody who is in San Francisco to see the city or be out and about, not milling about in a hotel room. Although the rooms with a shared bathroom are small, they are clean, tastefully appointed, and really the perfect size for one or two people. The building is well kept, clean, and was surprisingly quiet when I visited. The walls are thin, so your mileage may vary with the assortment of other guests that are on your floor. The washrooms are never very busy, nor are the bath/shower rooms (that's what I will call them), although both are quite small (efficient! ). Free coffee and muffins in the morning are a great convenience, as is the PERFECT location (nearby every form of transport that San Francisco has, going off in every direction). Economical, efficient, clean, well-located. Love it.

I recommend it to everyone, families, couples, but also to those who like us arrived in motion for the annual event.

This is a great hotel, whose Adresse is very well located for tourists.
The rooms are somewhat small, but they include everything you need and are clean.
The noise-permeable blankets are the only shortcoming.
The staff is very accommodating, friendly and routinely.
Increasing morning there are even coffee and muffins.
