An oasis of calm in such an unexpected area, the The Westin South Coast Plaza was an absolute pleasure from the moment we set foot inside the lobby. Check in was one of the most professional and charming we’ve experienced, with recognition for our loyalty, confirmation of late check out, choice of rooms, cold bottled water, and a rundown of all the relevant hotel info.
The room itself was lovely, we opted for a top floor instead of a larger room. The linens and bed were truly “heavenly” and the bathroom amenities have that memorable signature fragrance. After settling in, we wanted something sweet and room service brought us one of the best brownies I’ve ever had. It was a base layer of soft gooey cake drizzled in a rich caramel sauce (tasted like it was made in house! ) and topped with firmer brownie cubes and a handful of roasted pecans, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. In the morning, the breakfast downstairs in the lobby was delicious, the service by Eladio and Juan was impeccable and we look forward to our return!

Beautiful beds and linens that were oh so comfortable. Lovely spacious rooms.

Came this weekend for a staycation. Its been a long year for me with my broken back, and I have to say I am SO GRATEFUL FOR all the amazing hospitality. Thank you guys for treating us like a queen. Can't wait to come back.

This was our 2nd time staying here in about a year apart. Location is great, staff is nice, rooms are nice and big.

I wish I could give the property a 0 star. It’s the most dated Westin I have ever been to. Currently there are no doormen or valet. The restaurant, bar, lobby, and pool are closed. There are no stay well products or water bottles in the rooms. They are not doing house keeping. It’s $40 a night to park in a empty garage in a ghost town across the street. There is no reason to pay double to sleep in a hotel with no amenities. I wasted a whole 2 days here after staying at Pasea which everything was open and you can see the ocean. Before that I stayed at Balboa Bay Resort which was also on the ocean and everything was open. The stay before that was at Marriott Newport Resort and Spa. Don’t waste your money staying at a old hotel with nothing to do in a ghost town.

Beautiful clean hotel with plush luxurious beds, friendly and helpful staff, & geat saltwater pool. Would absolutely stay again!

We love the Westin! It smells amazing, the rooms are wonderful and the gym and pool are spot on!

Excellent hotel with a privileged location with direct access to the South Coast Plaza mall. Very nice facilities, very clean, rooms spacious and very comfortable, the beds are delicious. Excellent service; All staff very friendly. Super recommended!

Love it! Second time here. View was amazing. I loved my room. The customer service is second to none! The bad part is the mall is across the pedestrian bridge. Not good for a shopaholics:) But I'll be back.

Attended a company event in the Lido room with reception st the Waterfall Terrace. The service was OUTSTANDING. The staff and atmosphere truly made our group of 160 feel so special.

No microwave. No access to store after 6pm for something as simple as a bottled beverage after working out in fitness center, but Room Service is happy to sell items out of the same store at all hours for a delivery/gratuity fee. Seened like they have a good racket going on with Deloitte building so close. Restaurant food was good, and staff was friendly though. Also, pool was closed for maintenance. Had that info been available at time of booking, I would have stayed somewhere else. Kind of disappointing on multiple fronts.

Great Concierge service and staff!

We always stay here when in Orange County. The staff is fabulous! One thing, after the horrible way Tempe AZ policemen were treated at a Tempe Starbucks on July 4, when the manager asked them to leave because a little snowflake didn’t feel “safe” with law enforcement in the store, this is my in room coffee choice? Please get Starbucks out!

After such a long day of delays and difficult travel getting to California today, I truly appreciate Mike Mastropaola at the valet being so nice! He went above and beyond in helping me tonight! I just wanted to let Westin know they have someone awesome representing them! As a business owner, I know how important it is to have great people! 5 Star recommendation for sure!

The staff is always lovely. They remember me as a regular — and even unlocked the lobby piano for me to play. Empathetic and helpful.

Nice property. Renovated rooms look great. Disappointing that it had no club lounge, though. Close to local area attractions. Staff was attentive and great service. Looking forward to my next stay.

Staff was very accommodating, room service was good, pool is lovely (and the evening view from the pool is amazing), housekeeping was great at giving us some extra coffee when we asked for it. There is a nice bridge that leads you from the hotel to the huge mall across the street, no need to drive. Will stay there again.

We booked for a 2 queen bed room but the first room they gave us was a room with a king size bed, which couldn't hold my family of 4 overnight. After contacting the front desk, we waited for an hour until they were able to provide us with the room we had booked. We were told this was not their fault, as we booked from a third party website. Not even an apology. If that was all I'd give this place 4 stars as the rooms were very nice and clean and would accept the whole wrong bed thing, but I later discovered that I was billed for both the valet and self parking, even though I only had one car and parked it myself. This gave me the impression that the staff at the in wasn't very good to say the least.

Very nice upscale hotel. Service was outstanding and everyone was friendly. Went to the bar and the drinks were made just right. Was nice to go down to the lobby and have a Starbucks right there.

Visited the lobby bar. Fantastic cocktails, incredibly nice and friendly bartender. Always love the scent in the Westin hotels. The feel and look is really airy and light. Highly recommend.

Parked in the structure and it was very convenient. Attended a seminar in the Verde room which was well layed out. Starbucks Coffee and pastries were offered and were perfect. Lunch was also served with a selection of salmon or turkey. Everything was delicious. Bathrooms were clean and we'll stocked.

We were in town to escape Vegas for a weekend and visit the beach. Me and my wife prefer staying at Westin’s whenever possible because the service is incredible the rooms are always clean and fresh (That White Tea scent) and are usually dog friendly. This location was no exception and we had a great stay. We’ll be back when in Orange County again.

Upscale hotel located centrally among three beautiful theatres. Walking distance from South Coast Plaza and an Uber ride away from the beautiful southern California beaches. Met some friends staying at the hotel for drinks and the pool. Family friendly pool and cozy feel. Had a great time.

Gorgeous hotel. Walking in there were pink/purple Orchids in glass vases in front of the very clean and modern hotel bar. Behind the bar was an outdoor courtyard with an open waterfall style fountain flowing from the second floor where the heated outdoor pool and gym were housed. Location was close to the airport and the service was on par. Room was clean and modern with frameless glass shower and rain showerhead. Quality furniture in the room, but lacked a lot of drawer space for unloading the suitcase. All said, a very pleasant hotel experience.

All my experience was marvellosa. The food is excellent and it was there for business and the Servucioss were Excellet.

Very nice, but they could improve. Treatment by staff seemed forced and ingenuous. As a gold member, I only got one bonus for a four night stay as opposed to one for each night which is the minimum I get for similar places.

Great hotel with awesome guest service. The rooms are new and up to date furnitured and clean. There are a lot of shopping opportunities around the hotel and also a big supermarket in walking distance.

Had an event there on April 14 with 250 guests. Food was delicious! Loved the dessert tray with the minis. But what was most impressive was the SERVICE starting with Willie who oversaw our needs for the night. So attentive and made sure everything happened at precisely the right time. Checked on us throughout the entire evening. Top notch! His team of servers and bartenders were also excellent. 5 stars all the way!

We overnighted with a shopping package at the South Coast Plaza mall and we delighted to find convenient access from the hotel to the mall via an overhead walkway. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel is maintained well. Car self park is across the street and there is a nice plaza across the street to walk around to surrounding restaurants.

Lobby was very nice and kept, bar staff was quick despite many guests. I have not been an overnight guest, but have had events at the conference center and the staff were very accommodating to our needs. I would come back for a drink after attending a show nearby.

Wonderful hotel. Great layout and location and staff is very hospitable, courtesy and friendly. This is a perfect place for meetings… centrally located between North and South.

Attended a wedding at the Westin. Parking was very ideal, they had their own structure. Best part was that the ballroom was right across from the parking, didn't need to go through front drsk. The ballroom was very nice. Perfectly big enough for a party of 500.

I attended a work event here this week. The hotel was surprisingly upscale to what I would have thought. The hotel lobby reminded me more of a higher end resort style hotel than one in Costa Mesa. I did not stay over night but we did get to see the rooms which were very well appouand Clean. There is a bar, restaurant, Starbucks, and beautiful fountain there and so a nice gym and pool on the 3rd floor. It is definitely a nice place to stay of you are in the area. South Coast Plaza is right across the street is Mastros and other nice restaurants.

Service was friendly and staff was attendant to your needs. Room was clean and bed was very good. The lack of food establishment options in the hotel was disappointing. Had Starbucks coffee and yogurt for breakfast 2 days and had a breakfast buffet which included scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage and French toast but cost $20… ridiculous price. No other real food options unless you walk over to the Mall. Was there for a conference so had a discounted room rate but still very expensive.

Amazing facility and equally amazing staff. Had drinks at the bar, and had the best bartender ever. If Tri is working when you go to the bar, consider yourself very fortunate.

Great location convenient to South Coast Plaza. Friendly front desk staff. Food and wine selection OK, property starting to age a bit but overall one of the better options in the area.

We were in the East room for a company party. The staff was very professional and courteous and the food was good. I would highly recommend the Westin for company events.

Good rooms, very clean and not much noise at night. Plentiful outlets for charging devices. Didn't get to use room service or anything else as I was only staying one night, so I can't really give all 5 stars. But no reason not to stay again from this end.

Attended a company holiday party here. The food was great! They also accommodated my mushroom allergy, which was a huge help because the menu included a mushroom soup that night. The tomato basil soup was one of the best I've ever had!

Westin south coast plaza has that corporate look. But appearances can be deceiving. The room accommodations and customer service are second to none. South coast plaza shopping is right across the street and easily accessible via the pedestrian bridge. There are excellent restaurants in close proximity. Too many to name. Whatever your palate craves there is a foodery to your liking. And don’t forget your a short drive to the beach and Disneyland!

Wonderful. The location is perfect, 3 minutes walking to the South coast plaza (through the bridge). The parking is ok but they should have more spaces for the guests who stay in the hotel. Definitely will come back because it’s so convenience to access to the mall and the staff are friendly.

Very clean and elegant. Loved the waterfall in the reception area. Excellent room and clean. Loved that they were lighting the Christmas tree and getting ready for the season.

The Westin South Coast Plaza is well located in Costa Mesa and one of my favorite hotels in the area. Rooms are clean and spacious. Heavenly beds are amazing. Staff is professional and attentive. Great food around the area as well.

I didn't stay at this hotel. I was actually here for a training session but from what I've seen on the outside can only translate to really nice lodging. The location is great and right across South Coast Plaza. Very clean hotel.

Recently remodeled, the Westin South Coast Plaza is a great place to stay for a business traveler — nice work out facility and pool, a huge mall just a short walk away and some fantastic restaurants nearby. Right off the 405 and close to John Wayne Airport — it makes everything easy. Only wish their on-site Starbucks was open later.

Day at the pool with some friends. Calm relaxing atmosphere with pretty good service. Great location if you want to do shopping at South Coast Plaza.

Very average experience, incredibly full of themselves considering how dated the hotel is. Rooms are nice, modern, clean. Beyond that, not impressed. Absolutely no ventilation in rooms, can't crack a window and no b-room fan. Parking offsite in garage, way too expensive ($27 a night! ). Outside area with ashtrays full of cigarette butts and tables littered with empty drink cups. And the biggest complaint: the building suffers from serious vibration problems! If you are on the first few floors overlooking the valet parking area in the front of the building, any car running during the night (and they seem to run ALL NIGHT! ) will transmit a wonderful low frequency vibration into your room like a massive subwoofer. I could literally sleep through the apocalypse, but this kept me up every single night I stayed there. The vibration is so low frequency that no sound machine or any other method could cancel it out. So to sum it all up, I'm being generous with two stars. The facade of luxury can't conceal this pig wearing lipstick.

It looked like a decent welcoming area, the beer selection was very boring as in Budweiser and Corona. I would've expected somewhat nicer beers for $8.50 a bottle. The food was "meh", so I guess based on my experience, 3 stars will do.

From the moment I checked in to the time I had to check out, the staff and crew here made my stay the most memorable experience ever. Hands down, one of the best places to stay! I highly recommend this place to anybody and everybody! Thank you to all the staff members, you guys were amazing!

I went for CanJam SoCal 2016 and everything was clean, the water jugsbwere always full, and it was very pleasant overall.

Nice hotel. Clean, modern, newer upgrades. Rate was good & included parking. They even moved me to a different room as a wedding was going on and I didn't want to hear the noise. Would stay again. Easy walking to shopping at Costa Mesa Mall. My only complaint and I know it's slightly trivial… no fan in bathroom and Windows wouldn't even Crack open for fresh air. I hate foggy bathroom windows after the shower and all the moisturw after a hot shower. I wanted some fresh air and thought the window would at least crack, but no. Turned the fan on high in the room but the thermostat kept beeping and switching to auto. Really my only complaint and again very small. They overstock the coffee and tea which I appreciated as well.

The worst hotel experience! All the front desk staff I speak with were horrible! They didn't even know how to speak how to communicate how to treat their guests! Weston, tell your staff how to treat people nice! Tell your people what is communication! Be professional! I would give them 0 star if I could.

The hotel was nice, but the fees for the Wi-Fi were ridiculous.

I don't know if it was by chance, or thats how the staff are here in this hotel. 1. I walk in with my luggage no one offers to help, maybe because I had no make up on and looked simple. Perhaps they didn't know I do tip good. 2. I asked for some extra towel and shampoo, it took them 23 mins. I was in a rush to get ready. The staff didn't apologize for the 23 mins delay. 3. They also didn't smile mostly. 4. They kind of rushed you to hang up on them. 5. I just sensed no welcoming, felt cold, empty and the place just lacked life! I would never ever go back there again.

Our favorite place to stay when we visit Southern, Cali! The rooms are beautiful with great views! I love the pool and workout room. The staff is always friendly and acomadating. And since we come for New Year's Eve my hubby watches the football games In our room and I walk to the best shopping in the US, SouthCoast Mall.

Great hotel and right next to South Coast Plaza! Friendly staff and clean. Didn't like that we had to pay the steep parking rates, but everything else was perfect.

Beware: They will charge you for parking without asking if you are even using the lot. Apparently, it is up to you to ask on the way out if they added $24 per night to your room fee, and to ask to have it removed. Furthermore, they will put you through huge amounts of stress when you confront them, and give you empty apologies and excuses ("it was charged to the wrong room. " Yeah, right. Why are there so many reviews complaining about the same issue? ). After offering you a free (! ) cup of coffee for your headaches, they will stonewall and cause you to leave angry. After that glowing anecdote, I'm sure I've totally convinced you to stay here. But wait. There's more! If you are walking to your car with a bit of a temper after the experience above, perhaps you will be lucky enough to meet Jessie, the valet. He will personally approach your car door, yell at you through a closed window, tell you to step out of the car, and verbally abuse you until you walk away. Please consider this hotel if you hate customer service, basic politeness, any sort of logistic competence, or just feel like parting with $24 per night for a "service" you never use, and never registered any intent of using. Just stay on your toes when Jessie comes around. He's got a short temper.

Got charged for 2 nights of valet parking, when I didn't even park my car at the hotel! I actually parked my car 1 mile away in a residential area just to avoid their ridiculous $24/night parking fee. I stood around and waited for the front desk to verify that I didn't use the valet. I asked to talk to the manager just to verify that this isn't a normal practice. I also asked the manager what she was going to do to remedy the situation of my unhappiness with their service. All she could offer me was a free cup of coffee. Based on other reviews, this valet parking charge apparently isn't just a one time oversight. I'm completely disappointed with the Westin, and I'll definitely never return here.

This property has severe uncleanliness issues. As a Platinum and Ambassador member with SPG, I travel for business every week and over the past 11 months of staying at this property (only because it is the only SPG property near my client), I have been shocked at the level of filth I continue to find in my room stay after stay. Several months ago, I encountered bed bugs crawling across my pillow when going to sleep. Not to mention the obvious health and sanitation issues, after experiencing the extreme inconvenience of packing up all of my belongings and switching rooms at 11pm, the way the situation was handled by hotel staff was outrageous. Nobody from the hotel, let alone management, called me the following day to attempt to understand the situation, to see if I needed my clothes cleaned of bed bugs and to seek timely resolution of this unfortunate experience. After having to specifically ask for someone from hotel management to contact me, and even though I let the hotel know that I discovered two bug bites on my leg the next day, I was passed around by 3 different managers for a period of 6 weeks before the hotel could finally provide some sort of resolution. This alone was shocking, but especially for an SPG member who has been loyal to their hotel for many months and who is in SPG's highest status program. In two subsequent stays, I again encountered uncleanliness issues.

We checked in on 02/02/13, out on 02/04/13. Front Desk: Patrick and Joe and a young lady were very nice to us when we checked in and out. Horrible experience with Valet and parking Manager, his name is Hall Cross. I found my check out bill was double charge of self parking and $28 a day valet parking. I came down to front desk, a young lady told me " will clear it out when you check out later on today". I went down at about 1030, I saw Mr Hall Cross (his name tag say he is a manager of valet, transportation, parking). I told him there was a mistake. I did not use a VALET PARKING, I used self parking and was charged twice. He told me" I have to charge $28 because your name on my list". I request if I used his VALET parking please surrender the half of my ticket and where were my car now? if I want to collect my car now. He told me " I don't have your ticket, may be to toss it away"!?. I went to hotel front desk. In front of Joe and a lady, Mr Hall Cross brought a witness man who could not identified color and make of my car. He changed from red color NISSAN to red color FORD. In front of JOE I showed my car key which was SIENNA TOYOTA WHITE color. Unbelievable services. I had report this problem to a General Manager Mike Hall. He called me back when I was at the airport on 02/04/13 with the promise to follow up with this case and get back to us in few days. Today 02/11/13 I did not hear anything from Mr Mike Hall yet.
