Shadow Inn ella

Shadow Inn is a beautiful and peaceful place located right in the heart of Ella. The property is very clean, well-maintained, and run by friendly locals who make you feel truly welcome. The atmosphere is relaxing, and you can really feel the local charm in every detail. I had an amazing stay here and would definitely stay again on my next visit to Ella!

I was checked into this hotel by Lanka Safe Tours, my tour company. Apon arrival, the lights were off, no music, no TV, no guest, just the owner sitting down. I was first brought to a room with no air conditioning. As a American in 90 humid weather, that is not gonna work. I said something and the 2 sons tried to convince me that the nights are cool and I would be ok. I went to my driver and said no way, so then I was brought up 2 more floors to a a room with air conditioning. However, the TV did not work. After the sons looked at it they said it would work in 20-30 mins, which I did not believe. I felt alone and the hotel was depressing down a side road with no view and the property next door had construction going on. I called my driver and he came back to get me and my tour removed me and booked me at Ella Edge Resort which was great!

Our tour company booked this stay for us and they certainly did well. This we found out is a family run business and they certainly do it well.
The location is a 5min walk to the main street shopping and restaurants anything that you might need the Inn is in a quiet lane clean and well presented the staff were super friendly and genuine or bags were taken up to our room which was very clean with a balcony bathroom was also tidy with fresh towels clean bed linen breakfast is Western or Sri lankan we chose Sri Lankan which was absolutely delicious. Finally nothing was a problem. We had a great stay. Thank You.

We had a very nice stay and it was made better by the friendly and helpful staff.
The rooms were spacious and had clean bathrooms. The hot water worked most of the time. The rooms also had little fridges and there was nice balconies and shared spaces you could sit in with any travel partners for a chat.
The food from the menu was delicious and it was nice to have an authentic Sri Lankan curry. The breakfast was generous and we enjoyed the fruit, eggs, toast and Sri Lankan offerings too.
The place was in a good location and you could walk to the main strip of restaurants and the station.

This family-owned hotel is in a modern, tastefully furnished building in a quiet street off the main road. Walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and shops in the town centre.
Our room was spacious and clean, with a balcony and a fridge and a very comfortable bed. The staff are friendly and forthcoming. Excellent breakfast, Western style as well as Sri Lankan style.
Good value for money. Can recommend. Will gladly return if I'm ever in Ella again.

Shadow inn guest house is very comfortable room with hot water. Any tipe of big brackfast. Mostly Sri Lankan breakfast 🥞🥞🥞. And very clean room's the family was very friendly. Location is close to city.

It is not a guest house you want to visit!
Bed sheets are dirty, as are blankets. Mouse feces in the bed drawer. Bathroom fool of mold, mirror is like from horror movie! Only get two towels, no shower gel or toothpaste, awful smell from fridge! Breakfast pancakes are disgusting.

This family hotel is extraordinary, very comfortable and really clean, it's a very friendly family that runs the place, we feel like at home, they take great care of me, plus it's not expensive at all and the rooms are spacious and the shower water is hot. I highly recommend this friendly place.

Shadow Inn is located very centrally and is good for the price. It is also about a 15 mt walk from the railway station and 5-10 mts walk from restaurants. It appears to be a family run hotel.
The rooms we got had a few issues. There was no handle on the bathroom door from inside in one room. One of our friends was stuck inside without being able to get out. In another, the bathroom door lock didn't work.
At night when we went for a shower there was no hot water. It was too late to inform the staff at that time. The next morning too there was no hot water. When I informed the manager, she said it was not switched on and would switch it on for that evening…!
We also realized that our rooms didn't have TVs, whereas the other wing did.
There is no elevator and we had to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to our rooms.
The hotel is located close to a temple which has a very loud service in the morning.
Tne Sri Lankan breakfast was good. The manager also went out of her way to get us fresh bread from a bakery. We ordered the western breakfast the next day, and other than for the fruits, it wasn't great.
However, the staff was very pleasant and very helpful.

I was here in may 2023. It was a very nice place to stay. When I came, the room was ready with a nice balcony. Very friendly family.
The place is in the centre. But not that busy, so it was perfect!
I visited Nine Arch Bridge from here, easy to walk. Centre also. Would recommend!
