Ella Happy View Homestay

We stayed just one night at this magical place. We were the first ones who stayed in their brand new triangle house with the most amazing view.
The Sri Lanka dinner and breakfast were very nice and good to eat for people who doesn’t like spicy food.
Overall an amazing experience.

Pretty accommodation very clean and new. A party town in the middle of town but nice quieter places to eat next to the station, Some of the best Sri Lankan food walking distance along the railway track or road.

This was such a memorable stay for us! Loved that it was right in front of the train tracks and with a spectacular view. Room was very clean.

Perfect place to stay in Ella. You are close to city centre 7 (minutes by foot) and you won't regret it because it's the most quiet place in all around the area. The room is very clean and the host very helpful and kind. The train rails are 10 meters from your room so you can shoot perfect images. You don't have to worry about train noise as it passes ten times per day and it stops seven to seven. If you travel by car it is better to park about 100 meters before you reach the hotel (there is a huge parking area at your left hand side).

We had a lovely time, breakfast is great and the view is amazing. You can easily access the place via the tracks, and watch all the trains go by :) amazing value for money!

The accommodation is relatively decent, but it certainly doesn't live up to the reviews I read.
First of all the road to get there is very difficult. Especially the last part to get to the entrance is downhill and full of mud. The driver who drove us had a hard time getting out of there. The room was clean, but the towels didn't look clean, didn't smell freshly washed. Also the town is at 1000 meters altitude, which means it rains a lot and at night it is low temperature. There was no heating device in the room, and also the hot water was only enough for one person. The accommodation is right next to the train tracks, which means that whenever it passes, the noise is deafening, we woke up at 6:30am. Breakfast charged at around 1000 rupees per person, was nothing special. The cut fruit did not look fresh, the baked breads were not warm and the jam was minimal. I'm also not sure if these were prepared just for us or if they had been offered to other customers first and were leftovers.
Overall I would not choose it, nor would I recommend it to anyone else, unless they are someone with a backpack on their back and not carrying a suitcase.

Nice and calm home stay in Ella for the reasonable price. Clean rooms with attached washroom. Near to the railway station and town. Stunning view of Ella rock and a nice water fall. Nice experience for train lovers as the property is very close to the railway. Worth for money.

Cozy homestay. The hosts are really welcoming and gave us good tips about the region. Quickest way to town is via the train tracks.

A real gem in Ella, and we are really glad we found it. We ment to stay for two nights, but then decided to stay also for the third night. Very quiet and calm place, and yet just a short walk to city center by rail tracks. Also directly by the way to Ella rock.
Friendly and helpful owners, they even invited us to dinner in their home.
Breakfast with homegrown coffee was perfect!
Would 100% reccommend.

Best Location in Ella, at a peaceful spot just a 10 minute walk from Town down the iconic railway line. The place has arguably one of the best views in Sri Lanka of Ella Rock. The facilities are simple, but everything you need for a pleasant stay, its clean, has a very friendly host family who serves a plentyful Sri Lankan breakfast on the terasse from were you have the mountain view and the train rolling by now and then, their surrounding garden is also beautiful with many flowers, mango and avocados trees, coffee beans etc. (Its a small homestay with just 2 guest rooms).
Highly reccomended. :-)
