Super friendly host, amazing food. Room has great view and is very clean.

Our host is so sweet! The room is great, shower is nice, the bed is big and comfortable, the breakfast is delicious and the view is to die for! If I ever get back to Ella I would totally stay here again and recommend it for everyone. There were monkeys walking right across our balcony!

Amazing place in the heart of Ella! 🌿 Clean, air-conditioned rooms with mosquito nets and a private terrace offering breathtaking views. Enjoying a morning cup of Ceylon tea on the terrace – priceless! Perfect for relaxing and exploring the area. Highly recommend! ❤️

Lovely small guest house situated a 5 minute drive to town, very quiet location, great attentive staff, comfortable clean rooms, decent breakfast, we ate evening meal there which was very nice, views from the property are great, we had no complaints.

We loved staying at Different View! The view from the room & balcony is amazing. The rooms are super comfortable. Since the home stay is a bit outside of the busy center, it’s perfect to enjoy some quiet time, while it’s easy to walk to all restaurants within a couple of minutes. Nalaka and his family were super friendly and made sure we felt very comfortable and have everything we need. Totally recommend!

I wouldn't stay there again. As one reviewer wrote before, I don't want to take away business away from Nalaka and his family as they depend on this. However, make sure you understand it's a very basic accomodation!
+ Nalaka and his family are super friendly and helpful in organizing trips and drivers, and they even offered tea in the afternoon.
+ Calm and green surroundings.
— The room with kingsize bed and private balcony was not big enough for 2 medium trolleys. We could barely move or go to the bathroom and had only one table to put stuff. No hangers, no bedside cabinet or anything to put clothes, phones, water etc.
The bed didn't fit into the space between two pillars so it was even more tight. Nowhere to sit in the room, just the bed. Outside 4 plastic chairs.
— No fridge and no A/C. Just a small ventilator on the side next to bed.
— No hot or warm shower as it's solar powered. Even when I mentioned that on a cloudy day, Nalaka said he would turn on electricity, but even after 30 min waiting time still no warm water.
— Construction works next door, every day (also weekends) 9-17 or even longer. Nothing that Nalaka can do about, but good to know before booking.
— No window in the bedroom, only the door to balcony. Monkeys came inside the room at night. Due to the missing A/C you can't however sleep with closed door.
— Cleanliness could be improved.
— Location far off at the end of a bumpy road.

Super friendly, warm, helpful family running this small homestay with amazing views 15 min walk outside Ella. The breakfast was fabulous each morning, they provided afternoon tea several times and a wonderful evening meal as a treat. They also have their own tuk tuk. They couldn't have done more for us. It really suited us as a family of 6 as all our rooms faced onto a big terrace where we could eat relax play cards m we had it all to ourselves. Linen n towels changed during our 5 night stay. Rooms are fine and ensuite bathrooms a bit basic for some but the views, location n wonderful hospitality trumped all of that. Highly recommended and great value.

It was a beautiful apartman owned by a cute and nice family. The view from the terrace was astonishing. You can see Little Adams Peak and a wonderful sunrise from your terrace. The breakfast also was amazing. You should stay here after a long day in Ella. Absolute amazing.

This is a good value option if you’re on a tight budget but it was just too basic for us. The reviews made it seem more comfortable than it was. The host was very kind and refunded us a few nights as we didn’t want to stay the 4 nights we had booked. I don’t want to take any business away from them but I think it’s important to do an accurate review.
Pros:

Cons:
*pillow is as hard as rocks.
*shower barely worked.
*No AC (it was 29 during the day)
*the walk to town is quite sketchy along a narrow windy road.
*no water kettle, glasses, cups, or water available on premises.
It’s a basic home stay so if that’s fine with you, then this is a good option.

Our stay at Ella was without a doubt an experience to remember for a lifetime!
The location is absolutely beautiful and the view amazed us every day — we spent hours just sitting there and enjoying what we saw while drinking a tea.
Nalaka and his family were so welcoming and lovely, that we felt like home right away. Not only did they provide us with fabulous breakfast and tea, they also picked us up with there Tuk Tuk every day and told us a lot about their country and culture. We miss them already and hope to see them again soon! 🫶

Excellent service with a view.
Nalaka is such a great host. Nothing is too difficult for him, even my super early breakfast requests!
The rooms have a nice view over Ella Rock, with a great balcony to sit and enjoy the sunrise. The rooms are small but fine for 1-2pax with basic facilities. Not luxury but more than good enough for the price.

This is a nice and quiet place with a great view to Little Adams Peak, which we enjoyed every morning and evening. Nalaka and his family are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is huge and delightful and changes every day a little bit. City Center is in within walking distance (15-20 minutes), but you can also catch a Tuktuk. We really enjoyed to stay at Different View. Thank you, Nalaka!

We stayed in beautiful Ella for 2 nights and had a fantastic stay. This homestay/guesthouse — Different view, was a great place to stay. The family was very friendly, helpful and great people:) The rooms were Nice, clean and simple, good beds — and best of all the location close to the city and the view from the terrace — amazing! The breakfast was really delicious. We got tea and cookies in the afternoon, and the father of the house were our guide to Ella Rocks — a place everyone have to go! The last day he drove us to the trainstation for our next journey. All inn all, a perfect place to stay and with the best people that made our trip so unique:) Thanks to You!

The host family were amazing and did everything they could to make our stay in Ella a great one. They were very hospitable, offered us tea in the afternoons, had their own tuktuk service that could take us to all the beautiful places around for a reasonable price. Laundry service with a laundry machine was available for a very good price. The room was clean and comfortable and the view from the terrace breathtaking, we watched the sunrise every morning and had the most amazing sri lankan breakfast to the view of Little adams peak and Ella Rock. It is located very quietly so that you can enjoy the sounds of nature and is a nice 15 min walk from Ella town, but they can drive you in a tuktuk for 250 rupees if you don’t want to walk. I definitely recommend this place for a lovely stay in Ella.
