Broad View Ella is located in just a 5min drive from the Ella town. The road the place is steep but the guests can use the stairs from the road.
The owners are extremely friendly and the breakfast is delicious.
Overall it’s a budget friendly place around Ella and I will recommend that place as a good place.

Not as advertised. We booked and paid extra for a room with a view, but did not get that view, and when you lay on the bed, all you could feel were the springs. When we brought this to the attention of the hosts, they preferred to cancel our booking than mediate the situation.

The photos on booking. Com are not accurate. We booked a mountain view room but the “view” was obstructed by a noisy construction site. There was no breakfast provided on the balcony, but instead up near their house. The room smelled of heavily of mold and had several cockroaches. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, because it was made of springs that jabbed in to you all night. The toilet seat was not attached to the toilet. After the first night we addressed these concerns with the hosts, and they showed us a new room, with a comfortable bed, but no view, expecting us to pay the same price we were for the room with the view. When we asked about the rate difference, the host promptly cancelled our reservation on booking, marking us as a no show so we wouldn’t be able to leave a review there. We left and checked in to another guesthouse, that was half the price, where we ended up extending our stay for longer we loved it so much. I cannot recommend this guesthouse and suggest staying somewhere else.

Amazing experience staying here! The view is beautiful, the family is incredibly kind, and the breakfast is delicious. It’s a bit of a walk from town. We walked about 15 mins downhill to get there but would take a tuktuk up the steep hill.

Super helpful host and family. Both English breakfast and Sri Lankan dishes + fruits were provided for breakfast. The climb up the homestay is difficult however the host helped us with the luggage and also helped us to the road on their tuk tuk. Bonus tip — you get to catch a glimpse of Little Ravana falls from the main road :)

Disappointing Experience.
This accommodation was a huge letdown. Here’s why:
1. Access: You can’t reach the property by car. From the main road, you have to climb the equivalent of 15 floors to get there.
2. Room Condition: The room had a strong moldy smell, and there were visible signs of dampness on the walls.
3. View: Instead of a promised mountain view, the room faced a construction site. To make matters worse, workers there acted inappropriately, exposing themselves to guests that are having breakfast on the balcony.
4. Bathroom: The bathroom was filthy, with a broken mirror and poorly maintained fixtures. The shower’s water temperature was impossible to adjust—either scalding hot or freezing cold.
5. Noise: At night, stray dogs in the area bark incessantly, making it nearly impossible to sleep. The area is overrun with stray dogs.
6. Misleading Rating: The high rating on Booking. Com does not reflect the actual conditions of the property.
I cannot recommend staying here, as the experience was far from what was advertised.

Just a 5min drive from Ella town, the road for this place is too steep and hard to go by a vehicle but you can use the stairs from the road if you’re going by foot. Rooms are not the best but in good shape, the family is very friendly and helpful. They are building a new set of rooms and they will have a better view since this place is blocked by the view a little bit. Food is really good and tasty. Overall it’s a very budget friendly place around Ella.

Most lovely people, very friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Best value for money. If you come with a tuktuk, the road up can be a challenge but the second time we already got the hang of it.

It was amazing! We got a welcome Tea, an awesome breakfast and the owners were so so nice! They organised us a Tuk tuk to yala national Park and helped us with everything. And the view (especially at sunrise) is beautiful. We really recommend this home stay.

Lovely guests' house with incredible views. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast here is great and served on your room balcony overlooking the valley.

My sister and I spent two nights at Broad View in Ella. Just arriving was an experience itself. There's a long flight of stairs you need to climb up to reach the accommodation. While going up we got caught by the rain and arrived completely drenched. Our hosts beautiful daughter immediately came running with an umbrella and took us to our room. The room itself and the bathroom were very clean. Even though there was quite a language barrier, our hosts were very kind and put in a lot of effort to host us. You can decide yourself what time you'd like to have breakfast which is delicious and plentiful! They also offer laundry service that we used (it smelled so good! ). Since pickme is not available in this region, the hosts are more than happy to organize a tuktuk for you. However you can also walk to the city which only takes between 15 to 20 minutes. We always took a tuktuk back to the hotel since we had to save our strength for the stairs. Sitting on the balcony was amazing. Such tranquility, listening to the birds and watching chipmunks climb the trees. The view is amazing and you can even spot a waterfall. Even though my muscles burn from walking up the stairs so often, I'd book this homestay again anytime!

The room has a beautiful view with a big private balcony. The room is big an comfortable, has hoy water and the Wi-Fi is very good! The breakfast is amazing and you can dinner here too, the food is very tasty!
The family is amazing! They are always present for you! Is a really good place to stay and enjoy the mountain peacefully. You can go to the center walking or in tuk tuk is near!

Amazing service! When we arrived we they gave us tea & biscuits. I went here at the end of a long stay in Sri Lanka, it was so lovely here they made it feel like home. The view is incredible & the hosts are extremely lovely, constantly making sure you’re having a good stay & have tea haha.
Food is also great! Felt like eating at my mothers home.

The owners are very humble people, they're a couple working together and doing great job! Room was quite spacious and it's even suitable for families with kids, there were two of double beds (one queen, one normal size). There is hairdryer in the room. Bathroom is fine. They provide welcome tea with a lot of small treats (sweet and savoury) next to tea. We booked our room including breakfast and I must say, it is really nice, it comes with a big pot of tea, pancakes, toast bread, pineapple jam, margarine, fruit platter for each person. You have the breakfast in your balcony watching amazing view of mountains! Amazing hospitality for great value!
