Hotel is located in an upscale residential area north of the downtown and the Centro districts and 5 min east of Serrano St which is in the upscale shopping district (Salamanca). The hotel used to be a private palace with another small palace that was built by the owner for his daughter. The public spaces are museum-like. The rooms are full of character, high ceilings and luxurious. Breakfast is served in the library and for those who wants a bit less formal setting, in the adjacent bar which also serves as the overflow room in busy times (especially on weekends when most guests tend to eat late). The lobbys (there is one with Chinese motif and a red one with late 19th century European decor) offers service throughout the day. The outside garden also offers lounge service in season. The service is very attentive and caring by very knowledgeable employees. Very convenient location with easy access to the main arteries of the city. We liked being away from the crowded streets of the downtown core.

The location of the restaurant in summer is superb, but the service is not to your height and the kitchen. Should improve a lot, to go back to having the quality they need. Quality price, very competitive.

Hotel centrally located and well connected. Ideal for social events and spectacular visually. Treatment ideal on the part of the staff.

— The restaurant, with the exception of the kindness and attention of its waiters, seemed to me excessively expensive in relation to the quality of the product and presentation.

Originally rated five stars… Lemon, lime and herbs growing outside the room. Gorgeous and even charming restored property with great hospitality. Need to improve the bedding: bodies sink into the mattress with little support and pillows lack robust support as well. Linens are comfy. Biggest pet peeve: please do not offer your guests a free drink and then limit it to Budweiser, Corona, inexpensive red wine or a Cosmopolitan (which is not even offered on the cocktail menu). Instead, offer guests a free cocktail from the menu. As well, if providing the "Spanish Experience, " please provide guests with a bottle of wine that is a minimum 10 Euro and top quality Iberco ham (30 to 50 grams with a bit of manchego cheese would be plenty). Otherwise, suggest the points at check-in. You have wine shops just blocks away serving tasty young reds and whites. Serving a sub-par 5 Euro bottle is not a favor.

A refined hotel with areas of great taste and lineage in the centre of Madrid, for a romantic visit. Don't expect a lot of youth in your guests.

The hotel Santo Mauro for me has that kind that is not evident, warmth, and a sense of peace and serenity.

One of the finest hotels I have ever experienced. The staff, service, beauty of the building; its quite spectacular.

Exclusive, is the word that calls this experience. A special place, being a palace you feel like Moon Princess in its suites and wonderful halls.

My favorite Marriott property so far. Our room had a sitting area so it was nice being able to come back after a long day of exploring and be able to kick back and relax without having to sit on the bed. The bathroom layout was great. It offered more privacy than a traditional hotel bathroom. Large walk-in closet with safe. Daily shoe shine service available. Large umbrella to use on the rainy days. The staff was amazing. Short walk from the metro stations.

The most beautiful hotel in Madrid, no doubt. Its gardens and lounges are of incredible beauty.

Room was very nice and spacious. It included all the important amenities. It is located on quiet street with neighborhood feel. There is no concierge lounge, but nice lounges on main floor. Breakfast was good. Fitness center small. Overall great experience and I will stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with a lot of character. Location near a lot of shopping. Amenities for this level of hotel is lacking though, no pool/hot tub. Only a sauna and steam room is available.

Just checked into their suite room. It is amazingly beautiful. The room is newly renovated in a very modern way. It has a large dining and living area with a bar. The bathroom is beautiful with a walk in closet, amazing!

The hotel is the best version of the Marriott brand I have ever seen. … and I have seen a lot of their hotels. The service is over the top great! They make you feel like you are their only guest. The surroundings are beautiful and the gardens perfectly manicured. The food was excellent and the room very clean and well appointed. They pay attention to detail in every way. Gabriel and Maria at reception were very helpful in helping me navigate the city and in getting things done. Both are exceptional examples of what it means to make a guest feel at home in a city far away from home. If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would. I would give Maria and Gabriel 100 stars for their thoughtfulness and focus on the customer. Thank you Santo Mauro I will be back!

This hotel consists of three blocks, surrounded by a magnificent garden which makes it an oasis in the Centre of Madrid.

Hotel is very good. We're just leaving Spain stayed here for one night on the way. Room was good, not good for a 5 star hotel, no makeup in the bathroom mirror. Position, to walk to the City Centre for a long time. A bit noisy, our room and it is place of the downstairs. Only 4 stars, because in my opinion is only worth so much. Extra charge for breakfast. Staff very friendly, very efficient.

One of the most beautiful sites of Madrid. Every corner is taken care with charm, including his peculiar smell, sweet and floral.

Excellent brunch. Top 10 of Madrid without a doubt. Very welcoming in spring/summer to take on terrace.

Correct Bruncho without surprises. What is most worthwhile, is the environment, especially in summer for its gardens.

Elegant, classy. Spectacular spiral staircase. It is the second time that we are going to work there and never ceases to surprise us. We photograph the bride that is offered in a room with a balcony, with views of the garden, and the light was very good. The very helpful staff. Very good deal.

Best hotel, staff, location in the world.

An elegant and discreet hotel. Your garden is ideal in summer to enjoy the brunch. Eggs benedictine are the best I have ever tasted. No doubt a perfect place for a special occasion.

You may need a small renovation, but it's another great between the 'luxury' of the capital. Very small, with an interesting summer garden/terrace. Two modules of rooms, one of them, was reserved in its entirety by David Beckham during his period in Madrid as a Real Player.

Upon entering the hotel the scent that exudes love.
It is classic but with a modern touch. A balance in the great decoration.
The rooms are beautiful.
The worst thing that has is that it has no parking, and if you go by car you have to walk up behind the hotel to get to the parking.
Apart from this, they are all the hotel details.

I only speak restaurant, of which there is no doubt of his quality, but I can not comment intoxication I suffered after the dinner of new year's Eve 2010 / 2011 for a few oysters in poor condition (provable).
The meat is very good, although I think that "get lost" too in the starters and side dishes.
I have been able to eat both in the Hall of the library and the Chapel, ambras precious and worthy of seeing. The terrace is also very nice, and the correct service and close but without disturbing.
The price is layer to the category of the restaurant. Preferred.
