Very good hotel. Comfortable clean rooms, excellent breakfast and an outdoor pool with bar.

Location is perfect! Near to everything and a metro station. The room is ok but a little noisy during the night becouse is at the front of the bulding in a noisy street. Wifi works properly. There isn't AC, so during summer is really hot. The guest house is very clean and has a shared fridge and a little kitchen. The bathroom is shared but very clean too. The owner family is lovely!

Most enjoyable stay at a city hotel in a while. Close enough to the city centre but also far enough to be quiet. Great room just off the garden. Comfy beds, powerful showers, good selection at breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly. The barman's sangria on a hot day is absolute bliss.

Absolutely no complaints. Staff expert & very friendly. No language issues. Good pool and bar. Handled the taxi issue expertly.

Комната на 4-х и все общие помещения очень грязные, неприятно прикасаться к чему угодно, даже стены в потеках и пятнах; ремонт был очень давно, замки на дверях очень плохие и хлипкие. Даже входная дверь открывается с большим трудом, т. К. Замок старый. Автоматы с едой и кофе не работают. Брали комнату на 4-х человек, дали только 1 комплект ключей, что очень неудобно для компании. В санузлах и душевых все грязное, на потолке потеки и плесень, на сантехнике ржавчина и они просто давно не чистились. Уборка в общих помещениях делается через день и не особо качественно. Кондиционеров, конечно же, нет, вместо этого на комнату был один вентилятор, на лопастях грязь и вековая пыль) В довершение ко всему, В НОМЕРАХ ЕСТЬ МАЛЕНЬКИЕ ТАРАКАНЫ! ) ) и они лазят не только по стенам, но и в белье. Подушки выдаются старые, с пятнами, очень тонкие и неудобные. На комнату для 4-х человек только 1 работающая розетка. Не советую никому)

Really disappointed with the customer service upon our arrival to the hotel. We went to our room and started to un-pack, then the noise started! It was the sound of running water and a boiler. We assumed it was next doors shower however the noise didn’t stop so we called down to reception. 1/2 hr later still nothing so we went down to ask to be moved, we were informed the hotel was full and there was nothing we could do. I checked the website and it was showing that there were rooms available. I took my phone down to reception and the unimpressed receptionist reluctantly gave us another room, this time it was a two-storey suite which was beautiful and spacious. We were very grateful until we realised the bathroom sink was blocked. We informed the staff the next day before going to breakfast and they said they’d sort it.
Whilst we were eating we realised our apartment was next door to the restaurant and as there was a light pointing directly into our window you can see straight into our room meaning everyone that had been having breakfast that day had a lot more than a view of the lovely garden. It goes without saying the shutters were well and truly closed for the duration of our stay.
The manager as we left was extremely apologetic and gave us a discount on our breakfast but it doesn’t really help with our negative start to our holiday to celebrate our 10th anniversary and our first trip to Barcelona.

Beautiful place. Excellent location. Dedicated and kind attention. Very clean and careful. Beautiful garden. Very complete breakfast. The rooms are very comfortable, the details well cared for, the mattress very comfortable, the super large towels, details that enhance the experience.

Hostel in the heart of Barcelona. Old house, good beds, kitchen, living room. But the doors are locked badly, and the balcony door is not locked at all.

The most disgusting thing I've ever seen in Barcelona! It is absolutely dirty, is not cleaned, not enough towels, no service. Really absolutely bad and for Kotzen! Mold is everywhere. The staff is unkind and does not respond to requests (such as: Another fresh towel). Bay elsewhere!
The absolute worst and diguisting place, which I have ever seen! No service, angry stuff, didn't mentioned you. Not enough towls. Not changing towels. Its absolutely not (! ) clean. Its ugly! Don't book! Please, if with you want to stay healthy and have a nice time in Barca, book somewhere else!

It's OK to sleep 1 or 2 nights… But the rooms are not hyper soundproof. We heard the men next door at 3:00 am screaming and slamming the doors.
The beds were clean and quite large PR 3 people.

No complaints. Only complaint: the family room was noisy + + + +. No soundproofing contrary to the descriptions.
No hot tub either.

Nice hotel, clean and tidy rooms. Helpful staff and centrally located. Walking distance to most places and close to the metro.

For the price. Very well. But very noisy because a lot of come and go. People can't open the door. The key was not easily returned.

Uncovered hostel poor service little housekeeping. Rent rooms for months on the top floor.

Hotel Balmes is a great place to stay. The staff is really nice and the rooms were good. They we're kind enough to assist us in a pinch when our flight was canceled. Most our meals were done out of the hotel so can't speak to the food. But the private terrace when we returned to the hotel a second time was very nice with a personal hot tub and patio area. The room service menu is limited. But overall recommended! It's also close to a lot of restaurants and shops.

I had a very nice time at this hotel.

Arrived before check-in-time, but we could leave our luggage and change clothes in a 'spwte' room. Beds are VERY hard, but using all pillows in the room (8 in total) we were able to fabricate a makeshift mattress that was actually comfortable. The hot tub in the deluxe-room is actually just a bathtub-sizes swimming pool on the terrace, but the atmosphere when drinking a glass of wine underneath the starry sky is superb! I accidentally mentioned that we were staying in Barcelona to celebrate our ten year anniversary, and were surprised by rose petals on the bed. Very nice gesture! If we ever visit Barcelona again, I would hesitate and book this hotel again!

The hotel is in s great location and facilities very clean and comfortable. I did think there would be an actual gym and pool for swimming but this wasn’t apparent when we arrived. The spa facilities were also not available. My worst complaint is that there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room — it’s always nice to wake up with a cup of tea. But, other than that it was above, comfortable hotel with helpful pleasant staff.

If you enjoy being woken up in the middle of the night then this is the hotel for you. My wife and I were sound asleep when one of the staff rang our room to ask for our car keys because they wanted to move our car in their garage. This was because another customer couldn’t park their car in the last slot available. The man who collected the keys thought it was funny!

The hotel is located in the centre of Barcelona. You can reach many sights on foot. A metro station and a train station are nearby. Ideally located to explore Barcelona.
Hotel Balmes itself is definitely recommended. The room was very nice and clean, the staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Good and cheap place to stay.

Last year I have stayed at this site for at least 4 nights each month.
The Haabitación always clean, breakfast very rich, location of the hotel great.

Great hotel in semi central location staff very helpful with average price in the XLA area.

Convenient location x the center (Gothic barrio) and x the Sagrada Familia. Vintage palace x to which you should not expect modern rooms and furnishings, but cmq remains all flounder.

Excellent service very nice its facilities, it is recommended to return next time.

Shared bathroom! been careful… it's not a good experience!

Cutite. If you don't find anything else your service is clean and although it is old it is well maintained but it is very basic. The views are cool and their situation is the best. In our case we asked and paid for a room with double bed with bathroom because we were going with a baby and when we arrived what was there were two single beds together and no bathroom, plus I don't know could fix.

I spent only one night Ppsto stupendous.

It was nice place and very close to city center.

Excellent service. Great amenities. Free Internet. Good breakfast including coffee, cereal, yoghurt, toasts, eggs, bacon, fruit, ham, cheese, etc.

My visits to the Hotel restaurant, in Barcelona's Eixample, are due to the food I often share with a group of old fellow students. Very good value for money.

Normal hostel, where for attributable money can get a great location in a decent area in a beautiful house, clean rooms with clean linen, a cup of free tea, milk and coffee, luggage storage, if arrived early or leaving late. To Rambla 15 min, to Familia 7, to park Güell 40 minutes on foot. Easy access to/from the airport. Wi-Fi is OK.

Good value for money, the room costs 40 euros per night. The rooms are air-conditioned and have a TV.

The (single) room was small but satisfactory. The service and staff were beyond compare. Just amazing. The location was great. All in all, great experience.

With a focus on service and excellence, it's impossible not to relax at Balmes hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, the food is exquisite and the service is very attentive and friendly. Also in walking distance to tourists attractions, restaurants, shopping etc… Truly deserves it's status as one of the world's top hotels.

Hotel ideally located in the center of Barcelona a few steps from the Rambla Catalunya.
Rooms (deluxe) correct but not exceptional not very large by cons the private terrace with the "bathtub" (and yes it is not a jacuzzi that makes bubbles but has the limit is better because it is you who fill it and the emptiness at the end is TR Nice.
Mini Bar in the room and bathrobes are a plus.
The staff are friendly and the breakfast correct.
I'd say it's more like a 3.

Very poor costumer service. Rooms are very noisy. This hotel was much better a few years back but things are taking a turn for the worse. Not recommended.

Thw (single) room waa small but satisfactory. The service and staff were beyond compare. Just amazing. The location was great. All in all, great experience.

Very nice and the deluxe room was worth the extra cost to have the outside bath. Air con was on constantly and kept the room perfect!

See update at bottom. Great location. 25 minutes from Sagrada Familia, Barrio Gothic, and some great shopping. Comfortable room and bed. Lovely bath room. Great attention to details : check in welcome drink, fresh apples at reception (which is a welcomed treat after a long day walk in the humid heat) chocolates, a rose and bedside floor mats at turndown. Amenities included bath salt! I like that. They have a small exercise room and a small outdoor pool as well in case all that walking around the city hasn't worn you out. I know it did me in… My comfy bed awaits me. Goodnight! UPDATE: I changed my rating to 4 because of our room which is located next to the maids quarter and they are loud and banging in our wall as early as 830 AM. Not subtle bangs but loud ones. We didn't notice our first two mornings as we had left early to catch our tour activities. In other words… avoid room 217 at all cost if you want to sleep in!

I spent 3 nights at Hotel Balmes last november. I had stayed there several years ago and I had still good memories of it. However, I was amazed to discover the hotel had gone through massive redecoration and the service was not only good as I remembered but even better.
My room was spacious and perfectly appointed, I appreciate the amenities — not always as good in other hotels.
My stay was a business one, I made extensive use of the Wi-Fi (high speed, very good) and I also had the front desk staff to scan and print some docs for me, at no charge. Extremely kind of them.
Breakfast is delicious, with the added bonus of a traditional spanish flair.
Unfortunately the weather was not nice so I could not enjoy the pool area which comes as a pleasant add on for a city hotel.
Definitely reccomended!

Great location and clean room.

The picture of room is diffrent from the real.

Unfortunate. In our room one of the windows had a paper instead of glass. Lucky it wasn't cold. Centrally located, but dirty, shabby and sloppy.

The only good thing, the location. Small rooms. A window pane was missing (it was covered with paper).

Just returned from an amazing weekend in Barcelona. Booked a standard double room and was upgraded to a 2 floor suite. Even without this though I cannot recommend this hotel enough, great location, away from the hustle and bustle but walkable to Las Rambles, shopping and even walked to Sagrada Familia. The staff in this hotel cannot do enough for you and we cannot wait to return again. Thank You to all of you at Balmes.
