Very nice interior & top staff & amazing location (Two Axel Barcelona), good breakfast… Recommend!

Axel Hotel has a very good and modern bar — Sky bar, with a great variety of cocktails in the center of Barcelona.

As soon as I check in I ask for a deposit of 100, 00 €or credit card with the room booked by the Italian agency x fear that control anything from the rooms… hotel frequented by couples of eterofriendly… bad reception with the staff not the board xchè I consider myself to be Omm.

Highly recommend this. It’s mixes the axel brand with classic design.

Stayed there several times in 2019 and it has become my favorite place. Will definitely book again in 2020

Unfortunately we only stayed one day my partner and I, but it was amazing the attention we received from Dan when we arrived and the service in general, as well as the cleanliness of the place, would come back without thinking.

Very friendly and helpful staff and always will to help rooms are clean and just the right size small and cozy.

The lobby, rooms, service were all high quality. I stay in hotels 200 nights a year. I would rate this equivalent to a nice boutique. The breakfast is very good here.

The check in process was so smooth and easy! I must give a special shout out to Javier who was very helpful with my late night check in despite some confusion on my part! The hotel was close to all the sights that I wanted to see and I felt extremely safe, which for a woman traveling alone is incredibly important! I can’t wait to visit again!

We had a fantastic time staying at this hotel. Everything was perfect, a couple of highlights for us were the breakfast which was probably one of the best we've ever had and the skybar, especially Asim & Alexahdru who make exceptional cocktails!

I had asked for a certain room and when I arrived that hadn’t been taken care of. The staff on duty tried their best to accommodate though and I ended up in an even better room than the one I wanted. Great customer service!

Location is very good and stuff very helpful. But you must book from their website to get the best offers. Gym is very good for an hotel gym, and rooftop is cool but drink a little bit expensive.

Great location and the pool on the rooftop is a real bonus. In a good location for all the gay bars and shops in the area. The staff at the Axel are super friendly staff. I would highly recommend and will be back.

This is a great little hotel, with good air conditioning (— important in the summer), a nice bar on the top floor, a small spa and gym in the basement. Breakfast is excellent, and the location is really excellent. I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 because the pool (on the roof), is really not a proper pool (it's max 3ft deep and a really strange shape), and the front desk managed to mess up a couple of things for our visit. Daniel on the front desk sorted out our first problem, but the second issue was really not resolved.

Overall the Hotel was excellent with a great location, the facilities especially the gym were outstanding and the staff were very accommodating, would definitely return again. As a straight couple and the numerous Gay Friendly references and reviews, we were a little nervous beforehand, but I can say to anyone deciding where to stay don't be put off by this, as the hotel has a mix of Gay and Straight couples within and there was a really friendly vibe throughout the hotel and at no point did my partner and I feel unwelcome. Thanks Axel Hotel for a great stay.

A very nice and well located hotel. The staff at the reception were very accommodative. I had wanted a late check out and they arranged for me. I was surprise that I was given a room upgrade too. The strength is definitely the staff. Will look forward to be back.

Been to the pool/bar before and decided to stay here giving up my SPG — platinum status. Big mistake, hotel is flashy and trendy, but accommodations are not impressive — especially the bed — hard as a rock. Room smell like toilet most of the time. Hotel offered a float to ride in the gay parade for 80€ which is not bad, but anyone could have pay for it. How about discounting the price for hotel guests?!?! … Overall, stay somewhere else, especially if you have loyalty status. Prices are high for everything; I believe they pray on the disposable income of LGBT++ people.

When you come in with your friend, a dedicated suite for 598 eur for 2 days, it is already past midnight, your friend is a father of a little girl of 3 years and that the wend where it should be kept to an unforeseen emergency, the front desk refused totally that we come back in our suite, with the little daughter of my friend, it is already 1am in the morning, it leaves us outside, we do not refund the 1st night 300 eur… purely shocking and inhumane… I am a lawyer, a complaint is filed to the police… case to follow.

Great hotel, centrally located.

Unfortunately I have to give only one star to this hotel. The hotel is in a good position to reach, the staff is very nice and helpful but we move on to the sore notes:
1) The structure inside is dated and this can be seen from the furnishings to the ruined floors, from the old doors to the sanitary fittings etc… In short, a hotel if you have four stars can not afford interiors like this (in Italy hotels with similar interiors have two stars).
2) I understand the lack of bidet in the bathroom (strange custom of foreigners) but I find it intolerant the lack of toilet brush… And already this says very long on the conception of hygiene…
3) Non-soundproof rooms you can hear practically everything from the people who snores the toilet flush… Etc…
4) twice I had to chase the cleaners to give me the second towel and bubble bath that once, returned late, I even had to ask the reception because in the bathroom there was… They pretended not to know that there were two of us in the room!
Also once a towel was visibly dirty of something brown, clearly it had not even been washed and I did not want to imagine anything else…
5) We booked the hotel on booking including breakfast but they tried in every way to make us pay back breakfast and each time we had to show him the booking on booking where it was specified in cubital characters "breakfast included" and this until Check out time.

Hi I recently stayed at the Axel hotel for 3 nights with a friend and had a fantastic time in one of their spacious premium rooms which came with its own unique conservatory style seating area with beautiful stained glass. Nothing was too difficult for the receptionists Bartoz and Lorenzo — to be fair we got brilliant customer service from all the staff we spoke to, the rooftop pool and bar had great music, good vibes and ace cocktails! What more could you want?! Looking forward to staying again next time I'm in town!

I have used only the terrace on top on the building. Drinks really expensive and you need to wait quite a long time. Usually overcrowded especially during the weekend.

A downside on the SPA whose Hammam was HS. It is already a pity that we have to set the entrance but it would be desirable that everything works.

Ideally located in the heart of Barcelona, the hotel is design, efficient, professional and always smiling staff. Good breakfasts, nice rooms with excellent bedding. The gym is a plus, the pool nice and the sky bar lively in the evening. Very very good establishment!

Nice hotel, but a broken elevator, the Hamman closed, the Spa is extra. All in all a beautiful establishment, with style, a wonderful breakfast and a good welcome.

I enjoyed a fantastic event in the SkyBar of this hotel, and it is a great place to unwind from the big city while taking something with friends.

Having stayed at the Axel Hotel in Berlin, we decided to see if the Axel Hotel Barcelona would also impress. So it did! It's easily accessible with a 40-minute transfer from the airport, using the Aerobusbcn service to Plaça Universitat on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and walking 400m on Carrer d'Aribau.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the handsome friendly receptionists who upgraded our room from a standard to premium, as it was our first stay at the hotel. Normally th…is upgrade can be done upon request for €30 depending on availability. We were impressed with the city facing, elegantly decorated, comfortable room, sound-proofed when the balcony door is closed, blocking out the hustle and bustle of the city. The bathroom amenities provided is cleverly packaged and brings a smile to the face.
The only critique was that the 'open closet' which is placed over the bar-fridge doesn't offer enough space to hang clothing and there is very little space provided to put ones luggage, even though there is enough space in the room to provide for a closed closet. We explored the rooftop 'Skybar' with beautiful views of the Barcelona skyline with the sea in the background and relaxed at the pool, which is very shallow, but fine for cooling down. Unfortunately, the Jacuzzi was out of order, due to maintenance.
Events were held every evening, which could be enjoyed whilst sipping on a cocktail.

I upgraded, at a reasonable rate, to a corner room with two balconies. Very nice. Staff was really responsive and friendly. I met the General Manager who also inquired about my satisfaction.

Stayed for a week. Decided to stay here because we’ve experienced staying in Axel hotel in Gran Canaria and that was an amazing experience. Hoped Barcelona would offer the same fun vibe. Was rather disappointed. It wasn’t a “heterofriendly hotel” but more of a “gay friendly hotel”. Perhaps because of the season? We’re not sure, but during the entire stay, majority of the guests were straight couples most of them are also retirees who seem to enjoy eyeing gay couples. Got the feeling that other guests were there to “marvel” on the gay community. Not the best feeling since we were hoping to be in a hotel where being gay is not being part of a minority. Very disappointed. We hoped it would offer the same environment like Axel Beach in Gran Canaria or any other “heterofriendly hotels” for that matter. Also, sauna is “mixed” not worth the money. Food from The affiliated restaurant is amazing. Breakfast staff are always so nice and accommodating. Staff are really friendly. Nice rooms, attentive staff. Great location. Then again those basic things are offered in any other hotels.

Welcome to the top. Smiling. The room was spotless. Quiet close to everything. Restaurant and service the top. Fitness Center included in the clean and spacious price. I tested the massage too too expensive for the benefit breakfast at the height of the 5 stars. C this hotel deserves the detour. Ch 517 Osman.

Great hotel and great location. I would stay here again. Has everything you need and with walking distance for nearly enough anything. I would suggest not drinking at the sky bar… maybe for one as that’s all you probably willing to pay (££££££) Also the spa access is not included. It’s €10 per day… PER DAY.

The rooftop bar is a fantastic meeting spot for people from around the world. Of the various places we went in Barcelona to have a good time and meet new people, this was by far my favorite. The drinks are well-priced and well-done, and the clientele is friendly. A good combination.

Great hotel in the center of town. Very friendly and courteous reception, always with a smile. Nice, clean and well furnished rooms. Another highlight is on the roof with views over the rooftops of Barcelona. In the evening in the bar you meet a colourful international society.

Arrived on Sunday, we were able to leave our hand luggage already at 10am in the hotel, so we were able to devote ourselves fully to the sightseeing. The staff was very friendly during the whole stay, adorable. The rooms were clean. Absolutely recommended, quite large class number one.

Perfect stay in an ideal area for the gay public. To emphasize the friendliness and good service of the cleaning staff (clarifying doubts and doing their work impeccably) as well as a Polish receptionist (sorry I don't remember your name) who attended me exceptionally well. I'll definitely come back.

One of the worst service received in a 4 star hotel, nothing of the service offered are real access to the guests. From the cleaning service, infrastructures, information, qualified personnel, customer care and your demands to enjoy a shout with a price of 4 stars and a free pool on your bass every time you acedeba to the shower. A total disaster.

Different Hotel usually. The rooms are comfortable, warm and cozy; The air conditioner is controlled independently, the cleaning is done every day including bath towels. In the lower part there is a small spa with sauna and Turkish bath; Always below there is a gym to do weights. On the top floor of the hotel there is a lounge bar that offers a good view. As for the spritz, I would not recommend it.

Service is more than excellent. Nothing is too much. The hotel is very clean, well maintained and full of character. The rooms are very clean, very nicely decorated and more than enough room. The services available such as the pool are great, however the massage and treatment prices are costly… way more than going to get a massage in the surrounding area. Would recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back.

Good hotel with excellent service in treatment and facilities, the only drawback, the only drawback to highlight is that smoking is allowed in rooms that are enabled as non-smoking, the habit Olia to tobacco in a very unpleasant, even the pillows Olian Tobacco, very unpleasant. I mentioned it when I came out, since I couldn't tell you before. If the problem persists, maybe I'll stop staying with you.

Very satisfied of the AXEL in general. Only a note, perhaps negligible, is that the refrigerator transmits enough heat to the safe that is located just above, which can affect sensitive objects stored inside… thanks!

I am very happy to have chosen the Hotel Axel for our stay in Barcelona, 3 days. The location is very good. We booked single room and received UpGrade free to Premium room, which we would always appreciate, was a little scared by the simples by what we saw online. The room was very nice and comfortable. The most important thing is the bed, a 10. To thank is also the heating, makes absolutely no noise and works without having a master. The shower, huge, separates by a glass the room and also gives the whole interior, with a system of Estos you can choose to be seen or not by your neighbors, the less fun and very sensual even if you opt for privacy. If I go back to Barcelona I will stay at Axel and won't hesitate to book the Superior Room directly, not worth it for the difference. Thank you!

Returning guest to the Axel Barcelona. I fell like home away from home at the Axel Barcelona. Definitely recommend to anybody who is looking for a nice vacation. One of the best locations in town. Prices are also very reasonable. Great spa and a nice gym are also available.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about Barcelona sites and nightlife. The rooftop pool was awesome and a nice place to start the night off when it converts into a bar in the evenings. The rooms were quiet and although it is in an old building, the decor is classic yet modern. It was a most comfortable stay and we can't wait to visit again!

Excellent hotel with friendly helpful professional staff. Very nice to be able to relax on the rooftop bar, and the atmosphere was nice. The only thing missing that I would have liked, is coffee/tea making facilities in the room or a hot drinks machine in the hotel.

Nice hotel, perfectly located there in the gay area of Barcelona. The hotel has an awesome terrace on the roof with a whirlpool and parties at night. The glass bathrooms are fantastic and cold make for exciting nights. Great hotel for the LGBT community.

I want to thank the entire staff of Axel Barcelona. My partner and I were on our dream vacation when terrorists attacked Barcelona during our stay. I can't thank you enough for making us feel welcome, safe, and cared for. During this difficult and tragic incident, I witnessed great courage, determination, and pride in every member of the Axel staff. We couldn't have received better attention and treatment. My partner and I will be returning to Barcelona, and we will be staying at Axel. We are extremely grateful. Thank you.

Wow is all I have to say. I wasn't sure what my experience would be like but I had the best time ever. The hotel was nice and it was located close to everything I did. The rooftop bar was amazing and people were very nice. My check in and check out (I think his name was Jorge? ) was smooth. Well, I did get there early and no rooms were available but the young man who checked me in offered other options like the spa and the bar etc. I used the spa and had an excellent massage with Martin, soooo good I booked a second massage with him for the next day. The gym was much nicer than any other hotel gym I had been to. The spa staff was super nice. I can't wait to go back there again!

We always have a great time here and feel like coming home. We come to the Axel 5-6 times a year and are very satisfied with the service. We feel like part of the family. The location is great and although the place is not brandnew, it is very well maintained and the new general manager is doing a great job to keep up the good work! We totally recommend it and it's always the perfect getaway, for a weekend or longer.

Basic standard rooms, small and poorly equipped. Kindness is availability to check in poor. Lack of services from 4 stars. A decent 3 star but with a bad reception. We waited more than 30 min x to have a room why although having free rooms did not find the reservation.

Unfortunately there was no toilet brush in the bathroom, which is absolütes Nogo. The fan in the bathroom (room 508) was unacceptably noisy. The door of the shower cubicle is unfortunately designed or grown to runs out the water while showering. The curtains at the window in the room were broken and had large holes on them, as well as not letting them slide properly. The balcony window did not close completely, so the street noise was clearly heard. The safe in the closet was not fixed at all and nowhere (! ) and inside was a cracked screw, which speaks against the safety standards. The only Elektrosteckdose on the bed was behind the night-/Beistelltischen. This caused our Apple charging cable to be damaged by pushing and squeezing from the hotel's cleaning staff. The Wi-Fi internet connection was super slow and overall unfortunately very bad!
In the Steam sauna area there was no Abspüllschlauch, which speaks against the Hygienestandarts and can lead to a Anstekungsgafahr.
Extremely little storage and storage space for clothes in a "Premiun-category" Room! Unfortunately it is very overpriced for this quality and in no way corresponds to a 4 * hotel.
All these facts speak against the quality you promised! Absolutely not recommended!

We stayed at the Axel Hotel as well as Heteros, the location is very convenient The breakfast buffet was great — we will definitely come back.

Very nice and exclusive Hotel "heterofriendly":-) with terrace with a large swimming pool and a very nice bar. The rooms are not very modern but still quite comfortable. Very nice personal is always available 24h.

Expectations were a little higher.
The parking is paid apart and is outside the hotel. The spa is very nice. The rooms are without bidets. The window does not close well and you hear a little street noise. Maybe from a four star we expected something more. On the other hand, the Direttoré is attentive and kind.

It is a great centrally located hotel in Barcelona. I went to the opening of the Sky Bar and has beautiful views. Slightly high prices for the drinks but for a drink from time to time in a pleasant setting is fine.

My last experience was not entirely satisfactory.
Let me start by saying that we arrived at the hotel at 3 of the night to check in. Immediately after I realized he had mistakenly booked for the following day, not the night we arrived.
The room wasn't there, it was all booked. Saw my mistake I asked for help to the receptionist (as were the past 3 at night) to find accommodation in another hotel. He didn't in the least help and merely say that he had no vacant rooms. The behavior was awful and unspeakable. It showed a total lack of interest. For this reason alone there would put more foot. However I cannot charge almost nothing to Axel as the lack of professionalism of a co-worker you can't pass on the whole structure.
Very nice and professional daytime receptionist instead of the following day, when we got back to the room for a few hours in what has already been paid in advance.

The staff was amazing and so helpful. My room was so comfortable and clean… But my favorite was the saltwater pool on the roof! What a treat. I made many friends and had fun floating around. You also had many good places to eat well in your neighborhood. Thank you… See you soon!

There was a problem in the bathroom and it was solved quickly. Treatment choice.

Is a very well located in the Centre of Barcelona hotel attention to 5 * a spectacular terrace with good views and very affordable prices, a good cocktail menu and always have theme days, performance, DJs recommend it as in site visit idea.

1) the shower had a big leak, leaking down to the room under ius 2) With taht price for a room, access to saunea jacuzzi etc should be FREE, which would create opportunities to meet other people staying there… what s the point in paying for the hotel sauna/pool when a lot of saunas /pools are around us with all the local gays in them? 3) breakfast is RIDICULOUSLY expensive for that level of room price 4) either treduce price of rooms and make people pay for every addition (the "butagaz" policy) or keep high prices & charge nothing or, say 5 euros,, thereby making the breakfast room more popular to all staying there) 5) because of this overcharging (breakfast jacuzzi access etc), all common parts of the hotel are remarkably empty, or have gigolos in them WHAT'S the POINT? I would come back with a more comprehensive tariff, meaning once you book in, you re part of a club! and re-do the bathrooms please, your own interest!

Although my stay was only for two nights, I found the staff to be very friendly and professional. During my check-in, Daniel was smiling from beginning to end and patiently explaining me the amenities of the hotel while also training someone new. The room accommodations were comfortable and the night-life at the rooftop bar on Saturday was fun. I will definitely recommend this to friends and will look for other Axel properties during my travels. Muchisimas gracias!

Everything was perfect, especially the cleaning and care of the staff, the reception staff is perfect, each and every one of them. As a counterpoint I would like to convey my disappointment with the catering service of the hotel, the restaurant on the ground floor, which is a business part, not included in the direct management of the hotel, and note, of course, it is a shame that an establishment such as yours does not have a catering service at the height, I've stayed a few times in the hotel, and on three occasions I've tried to eat in the restaurant. The first two seemed to me appalling relations between price and quality, but this last has been of strake, service insufferable of an arrogance unusual, and food directly vomitiva. Sorry to be so clear, but I repeat, it is a shame that, having the wonderful hotel establishment they have, customers have to exit the same to make all the meals.

Clean spacious room. Recommend getting street facing room. AC silent and effective. Beds are open coil mattress type which was OK for a single person but would have been uncomfortable for two. Not really acceptable for commercial use. Location is nice, staff delightful and very helpful.

Hotel is in a great location, a short walk from both the bus stop direct from the airport or train station. The hotel itself is extremely clean and comfortable with large beds and quirky bathrooms. All the main attractions are in easy walking distance which is a huge plus and the hotel staff are very helpful.

It's fantastic. Very friendly, clean, professional, everything you want a good hotel to be. EXCEPT I want to be able to drink tea or coffee in my room whenever I choose. Give me a kettle and a cup and you get 5 stars!

It is a gay-friendly with many renowned hotel. Indeed it is not much more than that. Very expensive drinks. Very tourist. If you want to meet people. Take something. It is ok. But it is not a must in Barcelona.

The magnificent terrace of the Hotel, Sky Bar, is thought heterofriendly space to enjoy both day and night. During the day, its swimming pool and its chairs are ideal for sunbathing and cooling on the hottest days.
At night, the Sky Bar becomes the ideal place to enjoy the summer in Barcelona atmosphere and the most suggestive cocktails, the new space lounge & chill bar where you'll find people with more cool and fun of Barcelona.

They fail to make propaganda. It is a hotel for gay-friendly as any, but you can go to another that is not going to lose anything. They make very mess in the morning and not even he can sleep. Horrible. They don't cumplish what they talking anything. Everything cost plus. Swimming pool cost 20 euros per day. To noisy at morning and we can't sleep. To know Barcelona, nightlife, save money and go to another hotel.
