Staff is lovely-super friendly and helpful and always cheerful. Rooms are well furnished, large, and clean. Location is superb. Food is delicious.

This hotel was exceptional, the staff were friendly and the building was outfitted beautifully. When we first entered we were handed glasses of cava and lead to our rooms. There are only 18 rooms in this hotel, so you get to know the guest services person quickly and they bend over backwards to help you. The rooms were clean and well appointed, and the chocolates the first night were a great touch. The restaurant was good, and utilized a bunch of “wow” inducing techniques. Smoke under glass cloche, bright sauces, and stunning plate ware. It was expensive! Next time I may go to the second restaurant/bar they have and eat the tapas. (I recommend the potato bomba… I think it was better than anything else I had there, for about €4! )

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Mercer Hotel and we both agree that the hotel could not possibly have been any more perfect. The Mercer Hotel is ideally located in the middle of the Gothic Quarter yet set back on a quiet side street away from the throngs of tourists. We were easily able to come back to our room everyday to rest our feet in the air conditioning and rehydrate at our free (non-alcoholic) minibar that is replenished daily. We opted to include breakfast in our stay at the Mercer and it was the without a doubt the right decision. You sit either in a stunning indoor dining area that includes a section of an ancient Roman wall or outside in a charming, quiet courtyard. The breakfast includes a different mixed freshly squeezed juice daily (amazing! ), coffee and tea, a top notch bread basket with homemade jams, an exotic bowl of fresh cut fruit, a hot meal of choice such as egg dishes and pancakes and a buffet that included quiche, fruits, cheeses, sandwiches, desserts, granola and yogurts. We really looked forward to it every morning to energize us for our busy days. The rooms are very clean, the bathrooms nice and functional and filled with Molton Brown products, the beds large and extremely comfortable and with the wooden shutters and blinds on the windows, my wife and I had the quietest, darkest, most comfortable sleep we have ever had in a hotel room anywhere, ever. We had a small balcony looking onto the courtyard and a TV.

First, we recevied an email that the Barcelona Marathon would be taking place the day of our arrival and could impact access to the hotel. They gave me a complicated 5 step process to get to the hotel! WIth 2 pieces of luggage apiece between my son and I, that would have been very difficult. I emailed them back and only then did suggest another plan which included that their porter could meet us if we could not get close to the hotel on arrival to help. To make matters much worse, one of the Nor'easter snow storms hit our airport the day of travel. I contacted the Mercer 2 days prior to work around this and they said they could only give us a one month voucher if we could not make our flight. As I work, we are unable to reschedule the trip until early next year. Fortunately, our Riad in Morocco (we were to visit both areas) was VERY accomodating, and gave us a voucher that would allow a more convenient rebooking. United Airlines did the same. This Mercer "5 star" hotel could not however. They claim it is an Orbitz policy but Orbitz said it was up to the hotel, just as it was with the Morrocan Riad. They attempt to portray their customer service as stellar, but I am not impressed, therefore the rating. We will not rebook with them when we finally get to Barcelona. (Orbitz wouldn't let me review for an unknown reason)

Travelled in the low season. The staff were so helpful, and the concierge service is the best of any hotel ever. Period. Helped us to navigate and access the amazing Barcelona food and drink scene.

Highly recommended! Staff is incredible, location in the heart of old city center. It feels like you are at home Architecture is 14th century, you can not beat that! I have been all over the place and by all means this was a superb experience.

Pictures are extremely misleading. We stayed on the evening of 10/30. I had booked a deluxe two bed suite and when we checked in I thought it was a joke. We had one king bed, two crappy night stands, and old rickety chair and table, and an adjacent area which I cannot even call a room. I had paid a higher price for a nice room, believing the pictures to be accurate. They are not.

Amazing hotel. Concierge was amazing, took us up to our room when we checked in and then preemtively helped us not have to wait in line at Park Guell. The door man saw us and opened the door from down the alley. Room was really nice as well, and service otherwise was great. Tapas in the bar were good as well.

Mercer Hotel is a 12/10 – book this hotel now! My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon in Barcelona and carefully chose the Mercer Hotel for the occasion. The hotel is ideally located in the gothic quarter, the style and class of the ambiance is unparalleled, I think about the stunning rooftop with glorious plunge pool every day, the rooms were beautifully appointed and very comfortable, and the food was FANTASTIC. The most magical part of this hotel? The service. Hands down. Every single person we interacted with was beyond gracious, welcoming, generous with their time and went out of our way to make our stay truly memorable. What’s even more amazing is that I witnessed this same courtesy extended to every individual who walked through their doors. I would not hesitate to stay with the Mercer again. Its heaven on earth.

In a historic building in Barcelona's historic Gothic quarter, this upscale hotel is a 3-minute walk from the Jaume I metro station and 500 m from the Museu Picasso (art museum). Offering free Wi-Fi and minibars, the refined rooms also come with flat-screen TVs, designer toiletries and rainfall showerheads. Some have balconies and/or original wood beams or stone walls, while suites add amenities such as separate living rooms, bath tubs and desks. Room service is available. Amenities include a gourmet restaurant, an outdoor pool, and a garden patio, as well as a business center.

This hotel is truly special, different from most luxury hotels in BCN.
Night and day compared to the Mandarin Oriental, with its small (very) noisy rooms and impersonal feeling.
It's not brand new so rooms show a bit of wear and tear but the space is well optimized, it's part of the charm and the whole building oozes a rare kind of chic throughout, not with the standard "faux designer" stuff you find everywhere in the city.
Actually few rooms so you feel a sense of exclusi…vity and serenity.
Rooftop is fab. Only note about the room, which is otherwise 100% quiet: it faced the service room, in which the staff elevator is located — its door was constantly banging in the morning.
Not a problem if you're an early bird but we needed to sleep in late.
So when I come back I'll try to get another room. Now I hope they will allow for a late check out on Sunday, with a fee is fine of course — it's so inconvenient to pack hours before you leave when you're actually leaving around 4 pm. I get that hotels wouldn't want everyone to do that, but I've often had the case of a flat-out refusal while no one was waiting for my room. Also, I don't expect a 3* to make logistical efforts but with a 5*GL it really makes a difference. Keep you posted!

Very special ambiance, beautiful building. Breakfast in Courtyard is a treat but… outrageously expensive. Service is excellent. Still somewhat overpriced.

I went to the restaurant Mercer (restaurant of the beautiful, modern and luxurious hotel Mercer) of which I had spoken very well, it was a real pleasure, to be able to taste so varied and elaborate flavors. Excellent tasting menu, modifying the menu, for a couple of Chef Harry's classics. A great dining experience, in a hotel with no unpleasant and quiet noises. I think it is one of the places in Barcelona where you can eat very well and then take something on the terrace next to the pool.
I will repeat without a doubt!

I find it unacceptable that you charge 9 ' 50 € for two coffees. We had a good time waiting for the waiter to come. Had to go to fetch it, brought the two coffees without more when in any other place of less stars yes that accompany him with some pasta or chocolate. We asked him to bring the bill at the same time. We are still waiting for you to come and pick up what we pay and say thank you. I do not complain so much about the price, that it is not bad, but of the nefarious service for a hotel of that category.

Visited family staying here. Service was top notch at both reception and the restaurant. Food was innovative, delicious, visually beautiful and served professionally.

One of the nicest hotels that we ever stay at. The staff are wonderful. Very helpful with information & tours for the area. Their restaurant was excellent! Our room had a stone wall that was 2000 years old. Part of the original Barcelona city wall. If you are looking for individual attention & excellent customer service, Mercer is your place to be.
It's located in the old area of Barcelona with cobblestone streets. We also stayed at their Sevilla hotel which was also wonderful.

True 5 star Grand Luxe hotel from arrival it was 5 star all the way! Reception were outstanding along with the Concierge to the lovely bar staff and stunning room we had which made my weekend! I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Barcelona. It is stylish but every detail has been considered too! Room 104 was divine!

Outstanding. Staff are marvelous with the most pleasant attitude. Rooms are large, well appointed and comfortable. Proximity to interesting churches, museums, night life and dining is excellent. They go out of their way to make you welcomed. We'll stay here again if and when we return to glorious Barcelona.

F a new proposal in the city which will not disappoint the singles already are posh, modern or any other urban "tribe".
A place with class that brings together a host of proposals for singles, married, separated, and matched in Barcelona and which should be visited at least once (though you'll secure) : the Mercer hotel.
Mercer Hotels chain is characterized by placing their luxury hotels on buildings of cultural, artistic and heritage interest in the historical centers of cities and in Barcelona, is located in one of the districts most historic, Gothic. In fact, one of the rooms of his restaurant is one of the ancient walls of Barcelona.
Although today, what you would like to recommend fervently is the Vermouth mercerino, the area of tapas of the hotel.
Quality, good price and a somewhat "cañí" decor define the tapas bar in the Mercer. If you go can not get out of there without trying their potatoes, croquettes (as no. ), rough and the omelette. Qué rico!
One of the advantages of the hotel, is that can take it the Vermouth in several areas: the area of Vermouth, the inner courtyard and terrace. Ideal, no?
I am also going to tell a secret, if you go to the Mercer with "a friend" (wink) and you want to surprise you, opt for the sunroom also serve you dishes of the mercerino, you can delight yourself with a breakfast, brunch.

A cute hidden hotel, very centric and with nice views of the gothic area.

I did not know which hotel to choose when I went to Barcelona, the truth. But an acquaintance told me the Mercer Hotel and spent months thanking you. I have no words to describe my stay in Barcelona. I needed to disconnect from the stress of my job and when I finished my stay felt that he had been REBORN, literally. I have no complaints, this hotel is P-E-R-F-E-C-T-O. My Special thanks to Mr Francesc loose to know direct this earthly paradise in Barcelona. The year that comes, 2014, have by insurance that will go to spend my holiday to the Mercer Hotel. Thanks a lot.

A wonderful hotel. Beautiful well appointed peaceful rooms. Kind knowledgable staff who were happy to help with everything from tourist advise to booking restaurant reservations. Situated in the heart of the Gotic quarter, this boutique hotel is a haven to come back to after a day of touring. Evening drinks and tapas at the roof deck pool is a must.
