Chic & Basic Zoo Hotel

We got a good deal, and it was worth the price on Bookingdotcom. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the rooms are indeed chic. The location is unmatched. If you're traveling to Barcelona, stay in El Born! There was little to nothing to offer vegans on the breakfast buffet, and the rooms linens were stained and not ever changed in the 4 nights we were there. There is also a ventilation problem in the bathrooms, giving everything a not so fresh smell. My biggest complain is the night-access door to the floor of the hotel rooms. It is INCREDIBLY loud when both opened and closed, alerting everyone on the floor when someone enters or leaves at ALL hours of the night. The incredibly thin walls don't help. The location is great and the building is more or less up to date, and the main reception desk is in another building, but it didn't inconvenience us too much.

The hotel staff are very friendly, the location is perfect and the coffee lounge really helps. Highly recommended for people not looking for a luxurious hotel.

Excellent location in Barcelona. Extremely close to tourist attractions and great transportation links. Hotel staff very helpful showing popular locations and offer maps and brochures. Room on the small side; could be bigger. TV is tiny. Toilet seat in our room was wobbly. They should clean the bathroom better as the is too much mould. Amenities are just as described. There is free coffee and biscuits on the principal floor. Price is refundable considering all factors.

Check in is in a building and the rooms on another side completely different! Expensive and the rooms super small! Nice decor!

More basic than chic. I would consider it more of an upscale hostel than a hotel. Rooms need a good clean. No english TV channels. Wi-Fi speed slow. Priced well for location. Free bottled water, tea coffee provided in common area.

Lovely hotel, small but functional and stylish room. Clean and comfortable. Lovely bathroom. Couldn't have a better location for exploring, walkable to most of the city and right beside the park. Reception in the neighbouring hotel round the corner. Excellent quality for the price and location.

Horrible. We’re basically paying 90€ for a hostel room. Cannot fully open the door to our tiny tiny room because that’s where the bed already starts. The window is tiny and no natural light. What a waste of money.

Room is small and old. TV and telephone are not working when I arrive. Also, note that there is no reception in the building, so it is ironical that the reception in the main building told me that I can "call" them if I need any help. In fact, I need to go by myself to the main building for the reception, and people there do not know how to fix it at all. Basically helpless reception, it should be called a hostel instead…

Great service and great location! + for room conditioning, — for the lack of reception on same building. Rooms were clean and came with free coffee and water which was very nice addition also. I recommend!

This hotel is really simple. It utilizes the word basic for a reason. Nethertheless, if the location is more important then the room, then staying at the Born district in Barcelona is a pure pleasure.

Good hotel for a fair price, I'm currently staying here and it's more than I expected. Check out the pics for the view, loving the balcony! The location is perfect, not too far from the beach and the nice neighbourhoods and right next to a really nice park. Also, the staff is really nice. I recommend this one!

Very dirty floor and bathroom, dust on the floor, bed, and the towels! Except that, good location and nice loby.

Practical, essential, saving and in excellent position!

Great location, the rooms are clean the corner bar is handy with free water and coffee included. It is the second time that we return and surely there will also be a third.

Awful. This should be classified as a hostel not a real hotel.
