We have a reservation at this hotel as of today. It could be canceled for free until day 9. On the night of 8 to 9 my husband got sick and I asked them in the morning to cancel for free. Telling them if they don't give us our money back, we'll have to stay with a fever. They don't care. They wait for us without worrying about their guests. This mob is only interested in money.
And on top of yesterday I discovered that I was charged 45 euros more than the reservation was worth.

This hotel was a complete disappointment and dangerous.
It should NOT be listed as a 3 star. It is a hostel at best.
It was dirty, the outside of our window had socks, bottles, cigarette butts and other unidentifiable objects, the smoke detectors were deactivated outside of our room and inside,
NO Wi-Fi (I checked in with other guests and they had no Wi-Fi) NO Air conditioning (we could not open the windows for fear of what the accumulated garbage might attract in our room) a huge window with no safety rails on the 4th floor, 64 steep steps to our room, holes in the ceiling, bugs in the rugs, the list can go on. We had to go to another hotel. We requested a partial refund to no avail. The owners would not even communicate with us, we had to go through the receptionists. They were all trying to help us but the owners were not willing to budge. We wound up spending double to stay in Amsterdam because we had to pay for 2 hotels. We requested that the the objects outside of our window be cleaned and nothing was done. We requested an Iron and were asked to come down 64 steps to get it, when my husband complained someone finally brought the iron to us.
VRBO should not be affiliated with this hotel or their sister hotel the Alfred and The Princess. We don't want other guests to go through this while visiting Amsterdam.

Very pleasant stay at Hotel Iron Horse. By far one of the nicest and most accommodating hotel staffs I’ve come across in Europe. The LOCATION was great! Close to all the museums and Heineken Experience. The street and hotel felt very safe and the small market next door was handy for water and snacks. The hotel is old so the rooms smell a little moldy and the shower in the bathroom is kinda stained but that’s to be expected from an old building. The beds and bathroom were clean and the size was fine. Definitely the perfect hotel to stay at if you plan on only sleeping there, clean enough with the basics.

It's a perfectly normal hotel. Clean rooms, free coffee in the room and at the reception, a pedestrian accesscentre, delicious breakfasts, poor noise insulation.

From the first moment we arrived we were greeted friendly and they were eager to help. I enjoyed the stay, the location is perfect. Thank you Hotel Iron Horse for a great stay.

Our stay was fabulous. Front desk helped with all our request. Clean rooms when we arrived. We were placed in the room we paid for on the second day of our 6 day stay. I would recommend this place to anyone. The restaurant to the left of the entrance was the best food we had in Amsterdam. Their services were fantastic. Great location for being central. Walk or taxi anywhere from this hotel. Thanks Iron Horse.!

My small room and nice bathroom was absolutely perfect for me. I love this hotel and the next time I pass through Amsterdam I will stay here again. They have a breakfast that is cheaper if you book in advance, but I found it a little too expensive even still. I do suggest skipping breakfast here and just getting something lighter elsewhere. There are dozens of nearby alternatives where you can save yourself €5

The receptionist woman with the glasses was so professional and friendly. A calm place with polite people around. I had a little issue with a taxi driver there, but I am sure he was not a native. Great atmosphere!

The rooms here are modest, clean and well equipped. A tiny mix up with our reservation meant we were originally reserved a double room instead of a twin — this was quickly rectified however. Front of house staff seemed to speak good English, Dutch and French and very helpful. Card entry to the main entrance was very easy for late nights too.

The hotel itself was a 3 star but felt like a 5star one. The staff was extremely accomodating and kind to me and my mom throughtout our stay. The hotel is conveniently located, close to Vondelpark and the tram line number 1, which takes you to central station. Overall, I totally recommend it.

Bad bedding, poor quality pillows, questionable cleanliness.
(peanuts, breadcrumbs, hairpins under a pitiful mattress)

Nice hotel not too far from the Center. Near the tram. The room for 4 we had was fine.

Ground level rooms are a bit unconfortable, facing the near restaurant inner court. Complexly a good place to stay if you want to visit Amsterdam out of the central chaos.

They gave our room booked to Qqun else and NS had to sleep at 5 ds a room of 3 as the other room was without window. … outrageous!

The staff was very friendly. They gave us a room on the ground floor which was very clean and well equipped. Good price and good location.

Great location, just 15 20min from the center. Unfortunately it is impossible to sleep, since the doors of the rooms are open below and then in addition to the footsteps and voices of passersby, also enters an icy air in the room. The nom beds are redone, only the duvet is pulled and then the bed sheet dle is not adjusted at all.

Excellent deal and location, we arrived a little before check-in and if they gave us a room, always clean and close to metro and buses.

Spent a couple of nights in the larger room, as we got a deal. Daniela at the desk gave us lots of helpful information upon arrival and tips for our stay. You had a free coffee/tea machine at the reception which you could use as much as you wanted as well. Only negatives was the room curtains and floor could have been a bit cleaner. Otherwise overall a good stay.

Strategically located Hotel for those interested in visiting Amsterdam and its surroundings. Rooms are large and clean, with friendly staff and Poliglitta for those who do not get away with English. Receptions Open 24h. There is no elevator, as in most of the buildings in the city. Absolutely suggested.

Hotel near the main tram stops to move towards the center and beyond, in a few minutes and with an average expense you can buy directly on the vehicle a ticket of various types of duration, advice the daily one, Amsterdam is also Great to see walking. Room 117… I would say to avoid, unfortunately it is located under a staircase where at night and day you hear the steps and suitcases (which drag to the steps). Beds a bit small, very high pillows made change the next day, the room is not cleaned daily but they give a general refresh by changing only the towels. The bathroom really surprised me, almost bigger than the room. Coffee maker in the room, instead if you want a good tea or a hot chocolate you can at the reception 24hrs (free). Window that opens in part, type about 15cm, but do not think you can smoke of course is prohibited, there are cameras and even if they only suspect that you have done can punish you with a fine of €150. Distributor of snacks and beverages along the corridor, the friendly and helpful staff speaks only English, only one male person speaks Italian, but I think I only do the night shift. Overall I don't think it's bad but a little neglected, just enough to level up, pity.
I suggest you find more, if you can avoid!

Typical Dutch Hotel, large rooms and cozy staff. Absolutely better than many 3 star hotels in Amsterdam. Plus, it's also right in the center!

The hotel is well located for visiting Amsterdam.
The rooms are small but the bathroom nice and functional.
On the other hand big black dot for bedding which is of very poor quality. You can feel the mattress springs!
Also a little worry of soundproofing, we hear the people of the rooms next door talk or watch TV. Think about taking earplugs!

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Ideal location for tourist. Convenient for transportation. Friendly and helpful staff. Worked hard to meet my needs!

Room is clean, and beds are comfortable. But the pillows were not very comfortable and it was slightly loud in the morning. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

The check in woman is extremely helpful and nice. She is very polite and will give you a guide if you're a tourist. The beds are comfortable and cozy. There is a bus stop right across the road from the hotel that will take you to the airport or the train station. Very convenient and nice location and neighborhood. You have to get the breakfast with your reservation which is a extra 25 dollars. If you don't wanna do that, there is a ton of food options on the street. Overall a great experience and one of the best budget hotels in the city. Would highly recommend it.

For one night ok. Bathroom was big enough and quite new with me. Beds ok. Unfortunately, you couldn't open a window in the bedroom and only a small one in the bathroom. They were water or condensation on the ceiling as well as at the air conditioning ventilation shaft. The air conditioning is very noisy.
The breakfast buffet for just under €10 is far too expensive as very little is offered and tasteful it is not exactly the hit.

The moment we walked in the door we were greeted with enthusiasm and introduced to what Amsterdam had to offer. This place was very nice and clean. The location was very convenient to area attractions and the bus line to get across the city. I would highly recommend staying here.

Waited under the door at the hotel minutes 40, no one opened and it is not clear why, and so, all you have to eat, even coffee in the room with a coffee machine, which we hesitate to use, thought that the fee, it turned out.

Excellent location, medium value for money. Friendly staff but operations/maintainance was subpar. My door didn't lock readily and others complained of poor housekeeping services.

This place is filthy and a scam. Save your money and stay anywhere else in the city. I checked in to find the sheets and comforters used and dirty. When I requested new sheets and a blanket and stripped the bed to change them I discovered what appeared to be a blood stain on the mattress and trash and food under the mattress. The hotel refused to put us in a different room, or to let us check out or offer us a refund. A manager was nowhere to be found and the front desk staff was unapologetic and incompetent. It was a nightmare. I am still fighting with the hotel and price line to get a refund to no avail. Save yourself a headache and a couple hundred euro and stay anywhere else.

Be warned: there are basement rooms. The room was very hot, quite dark and can't open windows. Still, cosy and comfortable place.

Helpful staff, clean and quiet hotel.

Hotel found on offer on booking. Located in a strategic area, close to the bus stop leading to the airport and within walking distance of Dam square. From here you can walk to any Museum or place of interest in up to 10 minutes. Staff very friendly and helpful for any information, convenient rooms with en suite bathroom, shower, TV and bed very comfortable.

This is a very nice hotel in an excellent location — close to transit and the old city centre. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel also has interesting decor and an interesting history. That being said, and the reason we only give it one star, is because it is *vastly over-priced*. Caveat emptor, I know, but we made the mistake of not looking carefully at the rate when we checked in, which was perhaps understandable as we were jet-lagged and had just dragged our luggage over from a tram stop. The rate we ended up having to pay was 2.5X what we thought we were paying, and, frankly, 2.5X what we thought the room was worth. Be careful! …

Good. Clean and cozy. Air supplemento in The toom didnt work But was Not cool anyway. Show water dispenser was broken. For the rest everything is ok. Rally good night.
