The Vondel Hotel in Amsterdam is by far the worst hotel room that we have ever stayed in. The room was tiny. The sheets were dirty. The bathroom was stained all over with god knows what gunk! It was a nightmare of a room. We couldn't wait to get out from that disgusting little rat-hole. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I recently stayed at Hotel Vondel in Amsterdam. The rooms are nice but receptionists lacking in service skills. We arrived early and stowed luggage in the baggage area. They then lost my Hugo Boss suit. Luggage came to my room minus the suit. Eventually it was found after I’d left the country and after giving express directions where to send it — these instructions were not followed, it’s a shame management are skimping on quality front of house staff. Next time will stay in a “Real” 5 star hotel — not one that “claims” to be one — very poor service — such a shame — otherwise nice location! got all the correspondence emails with management to prove it too!

Great room and lovely staff — couldn't be more helpful. The hotel is in a nice quiet area right next to the park and a short tram ride or 20 min walk from the centre. And they hire out bikes for (they were €17 per day as of May 2018) which was really handy.

So we got terribly slow room for 150€ a day and no parking available so you have to pay another 40€ for half day of parking next to the hotel. Stairs in hotel are really sharp so if you have a walking problems dont visit this hotel. As breakfast cost quiet much the selection of meal is really poor and boring.

We stayed here for 3 nights over St Patrick's Day weekend. Initially we stayed in the room directly below reception. While this was okay while getting ready to head out, it was not a welcoming experience the following morning as guests were going for breakfast or leaving the hotel. The staff however were very accommodating and moved our belongings to another room later in the afternoon while we were out for the day. As a bonus they left complimentery chocolates and wine along with a hand-written note of apology, a further sign to us if how much they cared for our experience of their hotel. Would still recommend to others.

Nice hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Good location for the park, the museums and boat trips. About a 20 minute walk from the centre (if you're fit). Quite a lot of places to eat within a 10 minute walk but there is a restaurant in the hotel too. I've not tried it except for breakfast. The room was clean and a good size compared to many Amsterdam hotels. Also quiet. I'd certainly come back here next time I'm visiting.

This 4 * Rated hotel doesn't deserve them. A single French TV channel, toilets in the S. D. B. No mirror ds room etc…

Central location, nice rooms and good prices. We felt very comfortable there.

Nice and centrally located hotel, very close to different tram lines. Our triple room was just as we saw it in the pictures. No negative surprises.

A hotel in the heart of Amserdam, in an old building but completely renovated. And despite a configuration all in corridors and staircases, everything is arranged for a person in a wheelchair, from the ramp to the room accessible.

Decent experience but some hotels have much better overall for the same price. The staff was pleasant during out stay however the room was good but the sound proofing was bad. Most times when another customer moves you hear it. It wasn't so bad that I can't sleep but you wonder about the privacy. The location is also good but not great also. It is located near a bus and tram station.

Second visit to the Hotel Vondel. Very well located in relation to the Museum district, also close to public transport. The neighborhood is quiet.

Nice hotel, with comfortable rooms and attentive staff. Made to feel welcome without being made uncomfortable. A happy balance.

Very good welcome. Clean hotel. A nice room with a nice bathroom a few steps from the Center. Little car pass. It was perfect.

Very nice place or spend a stay, the reception is very warm, the staff available all the time, I recommend.

The room was very clean and the breakfast was very good. Room was well, at least clean. Otherwise we were accommodated in the basement, that means the room was very dark and also the light in the room was too dark. Also, it was out of the way, so very noisy (the room) Other rooms are VLT nicer and quieter. Beds were perfect for me, really nice pleasantly soft. Food was well. Okey selection, but unfortunately warm things were almost cold.

Very nice and elegant Hotel adjacent to the center, for their mistake our room was not available and they apologized mycrowd a better without extra charge.

Great location Close to two tram stops, you reach the city centre and the station in a few minutes. Just a 5-minute walk from the Museumplein. It was a very nice hotel. Only negative note: In winter it is not possible to manually adjust the thermostat to lower the temperature.

Very comfortable Hotel, close to the museums of the city. Spacious and modern rooms. How the only downside is Q if the room looks out on the street it is not very well soundproof. If you can get it in much cheaper promotion.

Had a very enjoyable stay here. Bed was so comfortable. Lots of plugs. Good showers. Nice and quiet. Perfect location. Very central. TV was a bit small and dated. Very clean. Daily room service was excellent.

We had a wonderful 4 day stay here, that had the most respectful, polite, and accommodating staff. Few blocks walk to the tube made travelling about London easier and faster than an Uber ride. Highly recommend the full English available at morning brunch.

Nice hotel, very well connected and very close to the center, breakfast very large and plentiful.

We came in for one of the Hotel's sister hotels but they told us they would give us a free upgrade to a nicer room at Hotel Vondel. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was large with a bed, a couch, a chair, a desk, an enormous bathtub / shower, and a double vanity. It was also very tastefully decorated in a modern style. Location is fantastic in the middle of it all. There was only one downside: instead of a queen bed, we had two twins pushed together, each with their own mattress topper, resulting in occasionally dipping into the middle of the bed. Odd! But overall fantastic.

This place was great. The location is fantastic, 5 minutes from museumplein and only 10-15 min walk to Dam Square. Great amenities, amazing customer service. Our room was in the basement, but even so, it was quiet and had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

Perfect location… nice service… Sehrhilfsbereit… just the cleanliness… because there is a point deduction.

We stayed at the Hotel Vondel for four nights and it was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable, the location was excellent (close to everything! ) and the front desk staff were amazing. In fact, I'm only writing a review so I can publicly compliment them: the young woman that checked us in (early, I should add) spent about 15 minutes showing us interesting places on the map, giving personalized recommendations (about where to eat and NOT eat, good places for drinks, etc. ) and provided information about sight-seeing opportunities that we wouldn't have thought on our own. After being awake for 30+ hours, her kindness and help were much appreciated!

Nice Hotel Friendly staff Room a little expensive compared to the surface.

Disappointed with conditions. Bathroom was extremely small. Window didn't close. Complimentary tea& coffee hasn't been checked basicly. We had to use our own coffee. Night time mosquitoes didn't let us sleep. Staff& location were good.

Good experience in general Nice staff, the restaurant is good but the quantity leaves to desire 5 potatoes with a petitbfilet of pork and a well-cooked burger with fried storyteller 45 minute waiting even if the restaurant is empty. More dish available in the room card.

Stayed in a spacious apartment suite here. Furnishing was a little meh but acceptable. Service was good. Location is excellent.

Weekend away with friends in Amsterdam, hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the decor in the restaurant/bar is quirky and modern with a relaxing feel, we had heard good things about the outside garden however it was not open during our stay. The only downside is that the room we stayed in was below reception and therefore was very noisy from above, the rooms themselves however were modern, clean and the bed was super comfortable and I shall quote that the pillows were "phwoarr". Also to note, the hotel accommodated our request to have rooms near to each other. We were offered sequential rooms! Overall a nearly perfect stay, and would definitely stay again.

Very clean and comfortable rooms, and great location close for the entrance to the old town. Stayed in a subterranean room which was spacious and well provisioned with utilities and surprisingly bright! Only downside was that we could hear movement in the restaurant and bar above (the bar was also very stylish and well stocked! ) Staff very helpful, friendly and accommodating — managed to give us three rooms next to each other. Would happily stay here again, albeit in a room above ground!

Shower settings were a bit weird. They sent over 2 people to fix it but they didn't speak English/Dutch that well. Other than that a nice place in the center of Amsterdam.

Super hotel for under € 20 for Breakfast is almost a bargain. I can only recommend.

Pleasant boutique hotel but could do with double glazed windows. Stayed for two nights over the weekend — the location is excellent for tourists who want the convenience of walking to the city and museums without being in the thick of the tourist zone. It is also very convenient to Vondel Park — the 'Central Park' of Amsterdam with events regularly scheduled. The hotel has excellent staff who provide a welcoming start for new visitors. They are knowledgeable and friendly without the formal stuffiness of larger chains. The rooms themselves are well equiped with nice beds, desks, mini bar, etc. The weakness that I found was street noise at night. Rooms that have windows facing the front road will suffer from pedestrian noise at night, taxis honking, and the occassional rowdy group walking by. Not an issue if YOU are the rowdy group, but can make it difficult to sleep.

We have been on holiday and unfortunately I found the rooms dirty (I have changed 3) and noisy. The girl at the reception was friendly and the parking fee is 35 euros per day! The only point in favour is the location.

Nice Hotel with somewhat small rooms, but ideal location and very clean. Parking nearby is very expensive, the Hotel itself has unfortunately no Parking.

Our stay at the Hotel Vondel was great overall. With the Service, we were perfectly happy. At the reception they took us very friendly in reception. The Junior Suite was very comfortable and did a clean and modern impression. In the beds we slept like on clouds. Best Breakfast with a rich Buffet. In addition to this, (without extra costs) there was the possibility of super-tasty and freshly made to order Omelettes, Pancakes and waffles. The only small point of criticism: unfortunately the Jaccuzi was not as described in the Suite, but "only" in the bathroom.

Great location to museums and city center, yet its not in a noisy area. Close but not in the loud area :) Short walk to all the 'must-do' lists. Staff was very helpful and truthful about what to do in the area. Bed was very comfy. Room was small but very charming :)

I have to say that the 3 stars given only for the strategic location and the kindness of the staff. Rooms Micro and ditto bathroom. 4 stars do not know for what reason. Bed in a square and a half, in the bathroom, the only thing salvageable is the shower. The only thing is the location and that is 30 mt there is the bus stop 197 which goes to the airport and 150 meters, the van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum. Clean only in the bathroom a view of the spider's web, which I had next to the bed!

Fantastic Hotel. Very beautiful and chic rooms. The rooms are unfortunately somewhat small, but for a tour of the city is totally fine.

Quiet Hotel located in the vicinity of Vondelpark and Leidseplein, which personally I think is the best area of Amsterdam, quiet but with a good offer of restaurants, casino, museums and clubs for the nightlife. The hotel in if this nicely decorated and looks clean. The rooms are comfortable with large beds (the best of the room). Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.

I was 3 nights, when Amsterdam is very small, the hotel is the union of several buildings and getting to the room was strange, but all good. Excellent location, very close to everything, especially in the area of the restaurants to end the night. A very quiet area.

Reasonably the rooms are small, the noise in the street is inevitable (city center), well located, medium to good service.

We were guests at the Vondel Amsterdam hotel, Sept. 23 to 26, 2015, in room 106, in the basement. Our room was noisy, and on the first full day, after walking the city area, we returned to the room, in the afternoon, to find it unmade. The reason given was that rooms of departing guests are made first. So much for a relaxing afternoon. The basement floor had two levels with a step down, going to the room. The step is covered with polished metal, giving the illusion of a level floor. My husband, 82 years of age, fell twice. No broken bones, but not fun. The Wi-Fi was quite inadequate & I had to pay for several phone calls at 2.40 euros each, (outside of hotel rates) to check our airline flights. The staff was very pleasant but were not responsible for our dilemma. For the room, which also had no fan in the bathroom and a very shallow sink, we paid a total of $931.60 for the three nights. We expected better.

The biggest downside: horrible sound. The nights are short between the street noise, corridors, adjacent rooms is not a quiet hotel. The room and the bathroom are too small. The positive, good breakfast. Too bad because the vondel is well placed.

The room is small and with stairs to up and down even on the same floor. TV, remote is not working and even worser it's always on! You'll need to place a blanket on it to keep the room dark for sleep.

Great hotel, very clean! The breakfast was the best I've ever had! However, on check in the reception staff was a little cold and at times rude.

Good room, friendly staff, calm location but quite far from city center. €10-15 for cab to city.

Excellent staff! Jair took really good care of us. They held our bags and even gave us a room a little earlier then they had to just to make us happier :) 500 meters and across the canal to the hot touristy stuff. Clean and excellent facilities. Super market near by.

Very good value for money with a modern, slightly rustic aesthetic. Standard room is very cosy but well laid out and the same goes for the bathroom. However, the rain shower in the bathroom has great water pressure and gives it all a spa-like feel. Service at check-in was a bit curt and cold and at other times many staff were at the desk but only one patron was being helped. This should be improved. In terms of location, Vondelpark is at your doorstep and Tram 1 can drop your nearby when riding from Centraal Station.
