Kasuga Hotel

We recently stayed at Kasuga Hotel, and it was a major disappointment given the high rates. The room’s sofa and exterior bath tubs were dirty and in need of maintenance, and the corridor carpets were also unclean. The hotel’s advertised "authentic Japanese features" felt more superficial than genuine.
Additionally, while the gesture of serving us Matcha tea upon arrival was appreciated, it felt a bit forced. It would have been nicer if they had asked first, as I can’t have caffeine in the evening. Overall, the quality and cleanliness didn’t align with the price, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

This hotel didn’t resemble its photos at all. It was old, with limited facilities, and extremely dirty. The hallway carpets were so filthy that it seemed they hadn’t been cleaned in years. The hot tub was so dirty that when we filled it with water, grime and grease collected on the surface, making us not even want to use it. The TVs were outdated, first-generation models that were practically useless, and the furniture gave off a dirty vibe. It absolutely didn’t justify the upscale price we paid.

A traditional hotel at the entrance to Nara Park. This is recommended for tourists who want to experience Nara and have traditional Japanese hospitality. We were greeted with a cup of matcha on arrival while our bags were taken to the room. Breakfast had to be pre-booked but the Japanese dishes provided were excellent. Our rooms had futons, which took a little getting used to for Westerners, but was part of the experience. There is a great range of shops and restaurants within five minutes' walk from the hotel.

This is a very special historic hotel which sits next to the deer park. The staff is warm, helpful and a good understanding of English. I had an amazing dinner at the hotel and the service and quality of food are superb. They really care about their guests. I had an amazing time.

We had a Japanese style room. The onzen bath was the best we had in Japan. It has 2 indoor and one outdoor pool. The hotel is very quiet, located next to the railway station and to Nara Park with its deer and temples.

We chose the Kasuga Hotel in Nar to provide the quintessential Japanese hotel experience and it absolutely delivered.
The staff were very welcoming and the welcome drink on check-in was thoughtful and appreciated. We asked the restaurant to prepare a kaiseki-style dinner for the family and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We wore the traditional yukata robes and were given a superb meal, with staff patiently explaining each individual course and the reason for inclusion. We followed up with a Japanese style breakfast the next morning which took us all (especially the kids) out of our comfort zone and was a memorable experience.
The accommodation is quite large and, although not modern, is perfectly fine.
Hotel is in the perfect location between the train station and the main Nara attractions. In particular, don't miss the spectacular Todai-ji Great Buddha.

Superb Japanese hotel, get the breakfast and dinner included, you won't regret it. Terrific onsen, get the bigger rooms, they include a sitting area and 2nd tatami room. It's all just huge fun. Hotel is getting old, but we'll maintained.

The hotel is old and tired, our room smelled because the air con filters were not cleaned. They are also very rigid with timings and will keep bothering you if you are running few minutes late. We got bothered twice to make the bed, then at 10:05 am we get a call from reception informing us that we are late for checking out. Only 5 minutes late! Breakfast is a joke before we got there the cooked eggs were left cold on our table. And they refused to replace them when I complained. Overall it needs new staff who can relate to younger couples and people.

Stayed here a few months back and had a great experience. The traditional dinner and breakfast were never ending amounts of food. Staff were incredibly friendly and professional from start to finish.
The location is perfect. Just a few minute walk from the train station and the deer park, as well as a really big street for food and shopping.
The public bath really helped recharge after walking around so much.
I got the best sleep in a really long time on the futon/tatami matts.
It was perfect. Just walking around the hotel, hanging out while wearing a yukata really cemented the fact that I was finally in Japan!

This is an excellent hotel in such a great location in Nara. On one side, there is Nara Park entrance and the other side has the train station and market with lots of food and shopping options. The staff are incredibly friendly, kind and welcoming. The onsen baths are the best we've seen, so many generous amenities provided. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Nara, we stayed for two nights and it was a great location to explore Nara from.

This was an incredible Ryokan, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, really close to the station and park and just around the corner from the market. The onsen was gorgeous and so relaxing. This has been our favourite place to stay so far on our trip. So glad we got to stay here and would love to come back sometime. Would highly recommend Kasuga Hotel to anyone.
