Ostello Tasso

Lovely stay, great neighbourhood with lots of bakeries and some bars nearby, and about a 15 minute walk into the Florence centre. Great rooms (and air con! )

Important: It is very loud of weekends so if you book be prepared for no sleep.
The rooms are very hot, and AC is set very high and doesn’t work. When raised with staff they told us “it’s normal, deal with it even though it was 27 degrees Celsius. ”

It’s a medium-level hostel. The room and bed linen were clean. They didn’t have shampoo or body wash gel, and there was no hairdryer, but when I requested one, they provided it. The hostel’s location is quite good, close to a stop from where you can go anywhere by public transport. Florence is the small town and everything is walkable if you are not with kids😀 like me.

This was my worst experience. It is more of a bar-club and party place than a hostel. The hostel administration does not warn and there is no information anywhere that on the first floor of the building there is a club where they have parties until 3-4 am, with loud music that rattles the whole building. The doors are flimsy and there is no sense of security. The door to the women's room does not lock with a key, and during a drunken party, someone invaded the room several times. I did not feel safe. The smell of alcohol and cigarettes rises to the second floor of the building where the hostel rooms are. The bathroom was very strange, it is one room that is divided by a thin screen. There were 2 toilets and 2 showers, but in fact it was one room. Also, on the second day, the lock in one of the bathrooms broke. There are lockers in the rooms, but there are no locks for them, you need to buy your own separately. The administration ignored my complaints. I do not recommend!

Stayed here from Friday to Monday. Great location. It's a bit outside from the city but not that far for a walk. There are plenty of restaurants outside and lovely park nearby. Great staff. Got invited to their birthday party with masks etc. Had a great time. Definitely will book to stay here again.

Beautiful place in charming area — it used to be elementary school. The reception with bar was just wow impression. The guy who checked us in was really nice. The room was basic but for us enough — we excepted it. Shared toilet was cleaned every day. When we were there (November) was really calm — no parties at all. The only small minus it was just the bed — I slept well but my partner felt some springs underneath.

The room was clean enough, there are no parties in October, which is a plus, so it was nice and quiet. Although the doors of the room are very thin and not sound proof, so you can hear everyone going through the hallway. Also the mattres was very work out, thin and with a dump in the middle, so not the most comfortable.

Good hostel, especially good value for your money. Rooms are clean and there is a good-working airconditioning. Location is fine; it’s a nice and safe neighborhood, just not in the centre but everything is walkable in Florence. The host is really friendly.

Relatively cheap accommodation given its location.
Unfortunately found a dead cockroach in the room.
Very quiet, too. Air con worked well, which is fortunate as there's no way you can leave the windows open given the number of mosquitoes.

The place is terrible end Very rude. It was our last night in Florence and it was a terrible night because of the rudeness of the hotel. They had a party with loud music and we couldn't sleep. It was a terrible disappointment.
It's awful that you go to a hotel, a place to sleep and have some quiet and there is a party in the lobby 10 meter from your bed. Like an actual party with a dj.
Very bad!

If you like sleep and comfort, this place is NOT for you. It’s on top of a nightclub so if there is an event, you will get zero sleep before midnight! Which no one told us about, nor can you find it anywhere online.
Beds were uncomfortable and there were no extra pillows or anything.
Big plus (or so I thought) was the AC which was nice until it broke the next day causing a leak in the hallway.
It says it’s in a nice location, but it is not a comfortable distance to the center.
The place was clean, which was the only real good thing.
If you can go elsewhere (perhaps pay a little more), do it.

Some Pros, a lot of Cons:
Room was clean and nice, no faults with it. We didnt expect extravagance.
On sunday there was music playing downstairs til midnight, it was so loud our window was shaking at times. We weren't warned of this when checking in, couldn't see any signs, nor does the events page on their website display this info. Its not immediately clear when booking that this is also the case.
Ontop of the loud music the hallways acted as a communal space for the shared dorms and because the doors are old and wooden you can hear a lot of noise.
The AC broke on the second night after the hallway had a leak.
The staff were very nice, it was very casually operated which was alright. The location is a bit out of the centre, but an easy enough walk. It did mean you were closer to cafes and restaurants that were outside of the tourist centre and so they were cheaper.

Our night was a disaster because the room was full of bugs and other insects like spider and a vigilante bee! we were suffering because of stinging all the night and trying to kill them! Also, ir was weekend and they had a party which lasted till 4:30 a. M. So we couldn't sleep at all in this night and it was a very bad experience. Also the pillow covers, blankets and bed covers were torn which means that they are old. The A. C wasn't working and the reception guy came to turn it on but it keeps turning off after few minutes. The toilet paper was used and we asked for a new one. Overall the hostel needs intensive cleaning.
