Oltrarno Splendid

Quiet Luxury in the Heart of Florence.
Our stay at Oltrarno Splendid was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had.
On arrival, we thought the taxi driver had dropped us at the wrong place — huge keypad doors, a gated entrance, and a tiny lift made it feel more like entering a private residence. A unique and memorable first impression.
Pre-arrival communication: Excellent.
The taxi from Florence Airport was easy and around 30 minutes, costing just over €30.
Corner suite: Splendid.
The room was spacious, beautifully designed and full of character. We loved the balcony with morning sun overlooking terracotta rooftops and a nearby church, complete with faint church bells in the background. Amenities were superb — excellent tea selection, espresso machine, minibar, and a heavenly bath after long days exploring.
Staff and service: Brilliant.
Warm, attentive and genuinely helpful throughout our stay.
Breakfast plus the all-day drinks and snacks: Delightful.
Location: Quiet.
Peaceful and close to the Arno River with great restaurants nearby and easy access to both the Oltrarno side and Florence’s main attractions.
Overall: Stellar.
No hotel is ever perfect, but overall this was a stellar stay. With limited suites available, book early to avoid disappointment.

Loved our stay here. It is a perfect location, only a couple of minutes walk from the River Arno, about 10 mins walk to Santa Maria Novello train station and 5 mins walk upto Piazza Santo Spirito for a range of bars and restaurants. You wouldn't know from the street that there's a hotel here, it's like a secret hidden behind a massive door from the street. The rooms themselves are on 2 floors — ours was down a narrow stone staircase as this is an old building, but theres a main lift and separate luggage lift. The hotel is design led, with arty touches, unlike anywhere I've ever stayed before. Our room was huge with high ceilings, a double monsoon shower with C O Bigelow toiletries, antique furniture and quirky decoration. Loved it. Slept well in our huge comfy bed and with no street noise at all. The shared spaces are really well done with books and maps to browse and coffee and cake available all day if you need a little oasis break from the hectic city outside.

A perfect start to our 2 week tour of Tuscany. We loved our stay here and will return when we next visit Florence.

This hotel is a peaceful haven in the middle of busy Florence. Beautiful rooms in a stunning historical building make it an easy place to relax. The service was excellent, all the staff were very attentive and friendly. The breakfast was delicious with lovely fresh coffee and a continental selection. The decor was quirky and interesting and there were plenty of places to relax which made us feel at home. The location is brilliant, it's a short walk over the river right into the heart of the city and there's loads of lovely restaurants and cafes close to the hotel.
Our suggestions for improvement are more wardrobe space in the rooms to store clothes and a full-length mirror/space for my wife to do her hair.
Overall though, we had a fantastic stay and will be back again!

When you arrive at the massive street door, go through a huge iron gate and get in a tiny lift to the third floor of an old building in the lovely Oltrarno area of Florence, you aren't sure what to expect.
Go through the front door and you are warmly welcomed into what was described by Alberto the on-duty conciege as "Your home in Florence for the next few days". There is a small sitting area which doubles up as part of the breakfast room and our Superior room (one of their smallest but very large by most big city standards) is on the same floor — the larger suites are a floor below.
Our room was big and well furnished with a huge and very comfortable beds, sofa, table and adequate clothes space. The bathroom was well equipped and the separate shower was one of the best I've had anywhere in my travels around the world — powerful hand held and rain head with very hot water and a hot towel rail beside.
The only minor complaint was an intermittent sound of the plumbing (not during the night) but as we were told, this was due to the age of the building — not a big deal overall.
Breakfast is included with a good range of breads, patisserie, cheeses, meats etc. And various cereals, dried fruit/nuts and yogurt. Tea, coffee and fruit juices. During the day you can help yourself to pastries, fresh fruits and cakes.
There are plenty of quirky pieces of art and objects all over and the atmosphere is relaxed.

I absolutely adore Oltrarno Splendid! The room was fabulous (and spacious), the buffet breakfast was amazing, and the service was outstanding! Plus they made us espresso and cappuccinos on request! It was so close to the train station and everything we wanted to see, so we were able to walk the entire time. Very accessible! I will be back. I highly recommend staying here! Florence was beautiful! Thanks to the hotel staff for the amazing experience!

I can’t say anything original in this review that anyone has said in the other reviews but can only confirm that this place was wonderful! Super super quiet at night which is a need for a light sleeper like myself. Bed was comfortable. It is on the other side of the bridge so not as touristy but everything was within walking distance. We got the top floor room with dazzling views and quite roomy. We did hear some activity during breakfast hours but nothing over the top. Leonardo was so kind to help us try to find a specific tour we were looking for and Barbara helped us with some restaurants and helped me navigate the train schedule and protocol. If we come back to Florence, we would definitely stay here again!

This was such a cool and trendy hotel, and away from the hustle and bustle that downtown Florence can be. Our room was awesome and filled with so much history and the double shower was a plus. We also really enjoyed the breakfast and lounge area. Would definitely stay there the next time we're in town!

As guests at the Oltrarno we felt as if we were staying at the home of Italian friends who had unsurpassed attention to detail, an amazing taste in design and an interest in creating an unforgettable experience.
The B&B is intimate, with 14 uniquely styled rooms. Our King room was extremely spacious (much more than we really needed) with beautiful fluffy robes and slippers. The lounge area and availability of beverages (for purchase) was appreciated as was the morning breakfast and availability of pastries & fruit throughout the day.
I highly recommend this boutique B&B to those who want to fully embrace the hospitality and warmth of Italians. Davidae, Alberto and Laura go out of their way to assure an amazing experience in every way.

We had a lovely welcome at Oltrarno Splendid – the people were warm, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. The room itself was large, beautifully designed, and the location couldn’t be better for exploring Florence.
That said, I want to share an important note for anyone sensitive to mold. Unfortunately, there was noticeable mold in the air conditioning, which made the whole room smell of mold whenever it was on and a persistent sewage smell whenever the bathroom was used. If you don’t have sensitivities, this may not be an issue, but for those who do, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

They assisted in every single way, recommendations, restaurants, places to visit, everything, thank you… Then there are the girls at breakfast, friendly professionals, an entire boutique property of smiles…
This place is 100% a boutique hotel and very much different to many properties I have stayed in the past. It just has that something different, the owner (s) have really looked at the attention to detail in the design from entering to the common areas and the rooms.
Room, we booked a superior double as the only one available, this was a last minute booking. Spacious, funky in design, new with old, so well done. Bathroom, walk-in rain shower, great pressure and temperatures of choice, (little small if on the larger size as a human) but good. Bathroom was overall good. Bed was large, good sheets and pillow options. Small fridge and Television. Overall, very good well designed room.
Breakfast area, quaint, funky and some great servings in the morning, coffee, fresh juices, yogurts, fruits, pastry, toast, good selection and all full of flavor. Excellent service.
Location wise, fine, but if driving, be prepared to use the garage provided by the hotel (third party), maybe a 5-10 minute walk from the property. Well operated though, and they store your vehicle somewhere in the city. Just need an hours notice to get the vehicle returned.

Our room was pure romance: a stunning blend of historic charm and modern comfort, with plush bedding, thoughtful touches like soft robes, a freestanding tub framed by windows, and views that swept across terracotta rooftops to Florence’s domes and towers. Watching the city glow under the moonlight from our window was pure magic.
As a gay couple, we felt not just accepted but celebrated—something that made this beautiful hotel feel even more special. Between the spectacular room, the breathtaking views, and the heartfelt service from Davide, Laura, and the team, Oltrarno Splendid gave us a honeymoon we will treasure forever.

This hotel is just amazing, the room was perfect, so spacious, full of character and with wonderful amenities. The service was second to none. Breakfast was also amazing. The location was perfect, in the best part of Florence.

We loved our stay at Oltrarno Splendid in Florence! It’s in a great location in the Oltrarno neighborhood—across the river in a less touristy area, yet only a quick 10–15 minute walk to the Uffizi and other sites. The hotel is in a beautiful old palazzo from the 1500s but has a fresh, fun design that feels both stylish and welcoming.
Breakfast each morning was delicious, with fresh pastries, yogurt and granola, and hard-boiled eggs. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable mattress, and we absolutely loved the giant claw-foot tub in the middle of the room—a perfect place to relax after exploring Florence. The in-room Nespresso machine was great for an espresso at our leisure, and cappuccinos are available at breakfast.
They also offer wine, prosecco, juices, and soft drinks for purchase, which was a nice touch. We can’t wait to come back on our next visit to Florence!

What a lovely hotel and truly splendid staff. We had such a wonderful 4 night family stay here. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, warm, and welcoming. The rooms are HUGE and the AC is super high functioning. No weird sewer smells covered by incense and full cable TV (which we didn’t watch much of but was nice to have). Perfect assortment at breakfast and pastries available all day long. There is an elevator which was a relief. Also fantastic neighborhood — away from the center but close enough to walk everywhere. We would def stay again!

Beautiful boutique hotel, great service, and nice breakfast! My husband and I stayed here for 4 days and would recommend it to anyone. It is also in the “fun” Santo Spirito neighborhood of Florence with lots of bars and restaurants that are a bit less touristy.
