Cavour 10

Book somewhere else — please do not make the mistake we made. Please check my previous reviews to see that I rarely if ever give a 1 star review, and this deserves a 1 star review.
While the photos seem nice, the condition and cleanliness of the room is not a place you want to stay at. We arrived to the hotel at the time discussed and had to wait for 10 extra minutes while they told us “it is still being cleaned, we had 10 guys stay in all the rooms and they left it a mess. ” While we understand some challenges with past people who stayed there, you do not want to know that minutes before entering. We entered the entryway which smelt very bad, made our way up and entered the room which was so hot the concierge had to take off his coat in the short time he showed us the room because he said “it is very hot” (which he was extremely nice and did his best with a clearly not well kept stay). We did our best to deal with it even with a quick need to leave for a reservation. We left the window open as the AC unit did not seem to work (yes, we had to try and use AC in winter because it was so hot).

I’m being very generous with this score. This place is only 3 rooms.
Our room had a tiny bathroom with no circulation. The AC could’ve been stronger. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious.
You have to call the host beforehand. The number is on the door directory. He arrived quickly and was nice and provided the information on the keys.
Please note: you have to climb a few stairs to get into the apartment. There are no elevators.
The number one reason to stay here is that it’s really close to the tourist zones.

I we booked 2 rooms at B&B Cavour 10 Hotel and was extremely disappointed with my experience. The service was subpar. To make matters worse, there was no air conditioning in the room. IMessage Gonzalo and he said that he was going to be there in an hour. We waited an hr and a half and he never showed up! We checked in but left that same day and ultimately decided to book another hotel room at the last minute to salvage our trip. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant stay.

Our room at this b&b was beautiful and had everything we needed. Thankfully they’re partnered with a nearby bistro where we could store our luggage since we arrived before 2pm check-in. We didn’t take advantage of it, but could’ve gotten breakfast there too. Currently, there is construction on this road, but thankfully it was not a bother. We were out & about most of the time, there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. When we went back to the b&b in the middle of the day, we noticed a noisy excavator outside, but it must be very controlled because once we got inside the sound didn’t carry into the b&b. I was slightly worried about the excavator noise when we initially encountered it, but then it turned out to be fine. 😊 thank you for having us 💕

Location is excellent, room was tidy, very nice interior. Problem is that mattress is really bad, parking for the car is in the one of many small city garages and the price is 30 euros per night. Breakfast is the biggest cheat, it is actually coffe and ONE croissants in nearby caffe.

So apparently these “airbnbs” are popping up as hotels everywhere in Italy. So beware, you must keep in contact with your host on your arrival time because no one will be there to let you in and unless you have international calling or internet connected you won’t be able to contact someone to get in. Not only was no one there when we arrived but the number given to us and the number listed outside on the door didn’t work! Luckily a maintenance guy was there and was able to contact our host. The same thing happened to my parents staying at a different “hotel” in the area. A nightmare. The room was clean but rustic. My side of the bed was comfortable but the other side must have been broken because it squeaked everyone time you moved and was uncomfortable. Our room was on the street side so it was noisy! If you’re a light sleeper don’t stay here. Walls are paper thin and you everything from the streets. Every car, bike, bus, and kids coming home late at night yelling in the streets. The fridge in the room didn’t work. A few other things didn’t work but we contacted the host and they were fixed. The Wi-Fi was very spotty. There was also barely any hot water in the shower. We stayed for five nights and no one ever came to clean our room or provide fresh towels or supply more toiletries. We won’t be back and we wouldn’t recommend this place to our friends or family.

Booked on Hotels. Com based on amenities listed. However, these amenities were not included: TV, Refrigerator, Daily Housekeeping, Room Service, Breakfast, bidet, down duvet, valet parking, laundry service, self-serve laundry, designer toiletries. Shower head was broken and entry to building smelled like a sewer. Our host, checked us into the room but then disappeared for the next 4 days. Responded to one text about Wi-Fi but was then invisible for the rest of our stay.

Cavour10 was a traumatizing experience. Walking into the building and it was dark, dirty and smelled of sewerage. We entered our room. The large window was wide open. Little did we know that we would have to kill at least 10 mosquitoes that night. My arm had many bites. A telephone wire was on the floor and across the threshold going into the room, the sheet had a blood stain, and the blanket was stained. There was no room service for our 5 day stay. New towels were dropped off once but the wet towels were not taken away. There was no place to even hang the towels. A hair dryer was provided but could not be plugged into any of the outlets. I left a bag of wet towels and a bag of garbage in the lobby area under the desk. The bathroom was like a closet. We had to ask Gonzalo for soap, shampoo and a garbage pale. There was no soap dish in the tiny shower. We had to either drop it on the floor or open the shower door and throw it in the sink. The cover on the toilet flusher was missing. The wall paper was dirty and stained. I texted Gonzalo the morning after our first night and asked if there was another room. He texted back 7 hours later and said he had to ask the owner. That was the last time I heard from him for 4 more days. DO NOT STAY IN CAVOUR 10 no matter what other reviews say.

The location is great, you can walk to almost everything you want to see on a quick trip to Florence. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, nicely decorated with an incredible frescoed ceiling and large bathroom. We really liked the 2 comfortable chairs and foot stool for relaxing after our busy sight-seeing.

This B&B is only 3 mins walk from the Duomo, perfect to stay in Florence for few days.
The Host Giovanni is super friendly and accommodating. The rooms are good size and bright. The Pirandello room, which was the one we stayed in, has really beautiful colours, setting and forniture.
As I already said the B&B is right by the main square of Florence which gives easy access to a lot of bars and restaurants.
I definitely recommend this place. Clean, easy to find and amazing communication with the owner. 5 stars!
