Livingstone B&B

The high reviews here are very much deserved. We love this property and would be privileged to stay here on our next visit. All the little details make this a perfect spot, but Miriam as a host takes it to yet another level. The location is ideal, and everything is within easy walking distance. I imagine she books up very fast during busy season.

Despite its very high rating, as well as the numerous positive comments about owner/hostess Miriam, our stay at Livingstone B&B in Matera greatly exceeded my wife's & my expectations during our two night stay in June 2024.
There are three individual guest rooms (we saw all three, and each one is massive, especially when compared to hotel rooms in Italy) with ensuite bathrooms.
Our room, New York (the other two are London and Paris), was on the top floor of the apartment, so we enjoyed privacy and solitude, plus the added bonus of a private balcony area, complete with a sun lounger.
Livingstone is bright, modern, and impeccably clean.
Miriam obviously takes great pride in Livingstone, and is certainly passionate about providing the absolute best experience possible for each and every guest.
The photos are 100% accurate, and reflect what you see and experience when staying at Livingstone.
Livingstone is conveniently located less than a three minute walk (two right turns, then down the hill) to the town square, where you'll enjoy magnificent views down to the Old Town historic area of Matera.
If ever my wife & I return to Matera, we will absolutely definitely stay at Livingstone again.

Very good welcome and comfort when using the rooms. Great and comfortably furnished, high-end furniture, great secluded terraces for relaxation.

Livingstone was a great find for our Matera lodging. It's set in the old town, literally 3 min walk from the main square and entrance to Sassi.
Room was enough spacious with one double and one single bed which suited three of us. Apartment is modern, specially the bathroom.
Our apartment also had a very big terrace with seating sofa, sunbed and a table where we had our dinner.
The owner Miriam served a hearty breakfast with freshly prepared omellete, sweet pastries, etc… There're two parking garages in vicinity. Considering the quality/price/location we found it just perfect for exploring Matera.

Amazing find, great location, large room, comfortable bed awesome breakfast, easy location to walk to the old town.
Parking very easy at a secure park close by east access to great restaurants and bars and the Sissi. And Miriam is a super host, helped us with where to go and what to.
See and also great fun.

What about a magnificent and welcoming place a few steps from the stones of Matera.
The rooms are spacious and spotless with all the comforts, exceptional breakfast with local products with the pleasant company of Miriam who recommended us the places to visit.
We will definitely be back. A hug to Miriam and her staff from Carmine and Maria from Naples.

Livingstone is a great place to stay in Matera. Only a few steps from the sasi but with the advantadge of being able to arrive with your car!
Parking is 200 mt away, 15 euros per day.
The rooms are big and clean. Everything is very nice at this place.
You won´t get the feeling of sleeping inside the rock, for the rest, perfect place to stay.

We had an exceptional stay, and Miriam excellent person.

We spent at the Livingstone this weekend and I have to say that we are super super super satisfied with the choice made.
the property is cozy, clean and well maintained. The spacious rooms, we were in 4 (me, my husband and the 2 children) and we were more than comfortable… The Latvian king-size a show, the sofa bed for children very comfortable.
the private terrace is an oasis of relaxation…
I could go on forever and Miriam, the owner, knows it! 😉 😉 😉
very close to the entrance of the Sassi and with a wide choice of parking spaces (blue stripes at just 0.50€ per hour).
it was really like being at home… A great choice to start getting back to normal. <

Everything is perfect! The room is beautiful, spacious, clean and furnished with style, very nice and big terrace. The breakfast is super, there is everything and the food is exquisite, the hospitality of Miriam and Antonio is exceptional, makes you feel at home even better. Matera then it is really beautiful and charming, and I hope to come back soon, Thank you for this wonderful experience!

Staying in this B&B was perfect in any sense. The 3 bedrooms apartment is very stylish, modern, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The room's bathroom was modern and sparkling clean. The place is on a main road but inside it's very quite, 2 minutes walk to the entrance of the historic center. The owners are very nice, Stefano speaks English and Miriam just Italian but she was also very warm. Breakfast was very good. The place is highly recommended.

It's just as stylish as the pictures on its website. The hosts Antonio and Miriam are friendly and helpful. The location is a very short walk from all the wonderful sites of this cave village. Only slightly down side is parking is on street a few minutes walk away, but at least it's free. We love this place.

The great location, the spacious rooms, clean and manicured in every detail, the rich and exquisite breakfast combined with Miriam's hospitality, kindness and sympathy make the Livingstone a real gem in the heart of Matera!

I recently stayed here and everything was simply perfect. The landlady was gorgeous, very attentive and always wanting to help, the rooms were modern and the location is excellent for walking around Matera (plus a parking lot is within walking distance).
The only con is that long flight of stairs, which makes it cumbersome and tiring to manage your luggage around. Believe me it was challenging to grab 28" spinners loaded with 23 kilos each and pull them up all the way up trying not to touch the walls.
