We had dinner after visiting Borbudur.
Amazing food, pricy for Indonesian standard but completly worth it.
The thai springrolls were unimpressive but that is the only negative I can say. The rest was SUPERB including the staff.

My partner and I had a great time over Xmas at this beautiful property. Most importantly it was the lovely staff and people that made the experience wonderful! I’d like to commend Miss Vanda (? ) (pardon if I spelled her name wrongly) for her effort to address my name directly at breakfast always! We hope to be back again ^_^

Several years ago, when I was living in Indonesia and visiting Jogja, I often came to this place for an afternoon tea. Recently, I returned to Jogja with my family and decided to bring our daughter here for an afternoon tea after visiting Borobudur. I was surprised to learn that there is now a minimum spend of Rp 800, 000 per person, regardless of whether it’s lunch or just afternoon tea.
If you’re not willing to spend that amount, you’re essentially expected to take your business elsewhere. In my case, that’s I what I did. There are others beautiful venues nearby where you don’t have to dig deep for an afternoon tea! Sorry for the low rating, I’m just being honest 🙏

Amanjiwo is a place where culture and serenity lingers, the famous Borobudor view, the rice fields and the impressive Amanjiwo architectural design makes this abode a perfect venue for a lovely escape. There is a special ambience which you cant find somewhere else. The villas blend with the natural sorroundings, the food is just the best Indonesiian we have tried and the service top and the outdoor pool is gorgeous. Aman never fails. A place where we would plan of visiting again. So peaceful and magical.

Stayed at Amanjiwo for 2 nights back in August. Everything from the villa itself, the location, the food and the staffs were top notch. I had plenty of small requests from here and there and they were handled perfectly. Probably the best resort In Java island… This is my second time at an Aman property (and first time since more than a decade), can’t wait to try out other Amans as well! The only downside of the stay is that it was too short!

This hotel is just mind blowing. It was my second time coming here with my family and we had such an amazing time. The staff is so so friendly, always in a good mood and smiling at all times. The food was delicious and the view breath taking. I hope to be back soon. Thank you Amanjiwo.

Incredible experience — loved every minute. The pool in particular is truly a work of art, between the beautifully landscaped trees and the architecture. The food is delicious, and they offer thoughtful touches like meditation, lectures on local culture and a delicious afternoon tea with local snacks. The view of the Borobudur temple, while distant, is breathtaking. Highly recommend.

Beautifully appointed resort, plush furnishings & decor. We had a most relaxing stay there. Food was tasty; compliments to the chef. Tucked away amid the hills, in a valley often veiled in mist — it was magical. Service was par excellence all the way from front office to housekeeping, to amicable staff at meal times; nothing was too much trouble. It was the same with their drivers, especially one whose name sounded like 'Ngayang' (sorry if I've got it wrong) — he was also our guide on our kedu Valley tour as well as early market tour. He was most obliging & fitted in visits to some local cottage industries such as coconut palm sugar making & noodle making.
A suggestion though to encourage more seniors to stay at this resort. Is to find ways to ease the stair climbing around the resort, getting from room to dining area. Bath/ showers could be fitted with grab bars for safety.
All in all a most exquisite stay. Thank you all for your attentive care & service.

Amanjiwo is a truly special place. The setting, facing Borobudur, is simply breathtaking. The design invites calm and reflection, and the staff struck the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. It felt both grand and deeply intimate.
The spa treatments were outstanding, and the cuisine was both refined and deeply rooted in local flavors.
Amanjiwo truly embodies the essence of Aman hospitality at its finest.

Amanjiwo has some of the best hotel staff in the world. Everyone was passionate, wholesome, funny and genuinely some of the friendliest people we have met. They made sure you felt right at home and are well taken care of all the time. From airport pickup, to excursions, hotel restaurant to the pool, there will always be someone looking after you, be it cold towels, cold water or a simple greeting with a question "is there anything you need'. This makes all the difference to us. Additionally the whole area is beautiful and the hotel architecture itself is stunning. Food is pretty good for an Aman, and the drink list is actually very good too, thanks to the hotel manager Eddy here, whom we have met at Amandari last year and have now relocated here. The uncle pak bilal dinner was the best dining experience we've had with Aman so far, delicious food with local music in a stunning house. The lecture with the resident anthropologist Patrick before the borobudur tour was very educational and informative. We also did the Menorah hill hike which was a good workout. The In room spa afterwards was also a special treat — we both had great massages. We would come back to do the other temple tours and the volcano hikes. This is undoubtedly one of the best amans and one of our favourite Amans so far together with Amanoi.
P. S. We stayed in the borobudur pool suite. While the borobudur temple is quite distant, we would still recommend this room type.

Amanjiwo is my 6th Aman property and my favourite one so far. The setting is dream-like, of course, with Borobudur in the horizon amidst misty mountains. But Amanjiwo holds up as a monument on its own.
The timeless Ed Tuttle-designed architecture has aged gloriously. The rooms and all areas are beautiful and well-kept, and everything works perfectly.
The highlight, as in all Aman hotels I’ve visited, is the service. It’s simply the best and something that no other luxury hotel group or single property I’ve stayed in can match (Capella is a close second). Housekeeping was magic — my room was cleaned every time I left. Overall, every request is fulfilled promptly and seamlessly with the perfect balance of discretion and friendliness. The staff also excel at anticipating your every need.
The food at the restaurant is delicious. I had only Indonesian food during my stay, and all the dishes were well prepared and with generous portion sizes. I loved the sambals so much they prepared some for me to take back home.
The Borobudur tour is well worth it. There is little signage or information at the site (and I didn’t see any in English). So unless you read up on it beforehand, it would be a shame to visit without learning about the history. My guide even helped me take the most amazing pictures of the Buddha statue inside one of the stupas.
Tip — If you’re a light sleeper, make sure to use the ear plugs provided.

Amanjiwo is a magnificent, tasteful and serene resort on the gorgeous island of Java. I visited a few years back and it is a perfect place to relax, reinvigorate the senses and see the breathtaking Borobudur. Breakfast on the hotel terrace while watching the sun rise above it is magical. The staff are absolutely charming and thoughtful.

We had a spectacular visit to Amanjiwu! The property has a beautiful view of the valley and the temple, and the staff are top notch. You can tell that they are so caring and passionate about service. Each activity was well done, and all of the dining experiences were special!

The experience was close to perfection. Great amenities, location, services and ofcourse the staffs have good connection with their guests. We would definitely go back to this peaceful place. I really don’t have anything bad to say beyond it rained one day. A spectacular hotel in an amazing location with wonderful staff. We did multiple activities (bicycling, cooking class, spiritual journey) all of which were incredible. Everything was seamless as well.
