Hotels in Aquitaine with a Pool

As a wheelchair user, sometimes hotels are a struggle.

​I recently had a stay that started with a bit of a travel nightmare but ended up being one of the best experiences I’ve had.

A Perfect Stopover in Cognac – Far Exceeded Our Expectations.
After a 6-hour drive from Roscoff, we arrived in Cognac with no real expectations for our overnight stay.

Reception very friendly, room spotlessly clean. And very comfortable. Appreciated the locked parking. Excellent location. Breakfast was lovely, especially being able to sit in the garden.

I stayed at the Saint Nicholas hotel with my 9 year old daughter. We had a cozy room which included a king size bed for me and a single bed for my daughter.

We had a great few days in this hotel right in the centre (very quiet) of La Rochelle.
As part of a road trip being in the centre and having parking were very important.

Reading previous reviews, it seems as if some reviewers were expecting a 4-star hotel!

Very pleasant, reasonably priced hotel about 15 mins walk from the centre. Quiet location, but seemed very safe.
Nice clean rooms and bathroom, friendly staff and ok breakfast.

Great Location. Just a short walk to town centre. Decent pool. Good amenities. We had a family room so it was nice to cook some breakfast and an evening snack for the kids.

This is a top notch hotel in every way.
We ended up having to stay in La Rochelle at the last minute because of wild fires in the Landes, where we were due to meet family.

We liked this hotel. Its location was nice, very close to city center but in a quiet neighborhood facing the old park and greenery. Reception folks were very friendly. Breakfast was good.

We chose Novotel for the location and standard as we were celebrating our ruby wedding anniversary so wanted something better.

Staff were very hospitable and welcoming. We were accommodated right away.
The bathroom needs to be improved. The water leaks out since the glass shower door has a space in between.

We spend 60-70 nights a year in hotel rooms. Before I retired, possibly more. We think we know when a hotel is exemplary. This one fills the bill. It is not quite luxurious, but very comfortable.

We stayed at this hotel in Cognac for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff was very helpful in suggesting dining options and assisting us in arranging local activities.

I am in two minds about this establishment — many of the Relais & Chateau values are upheld : — hospitality and kindness, diversity & awareness of sustainability.

This hotel is phenomenal! The service is impeccable. I believe The Villa Grand Voile is a destination in itself. What a wonderful place to stay.

This gem of a hotel is the perfect place to stay for a visit to Bordeaux.

Le Palais Gallien Hotel & Spa is perfect for a relaxing stay in Bordeaux. From the first moment to the last, the staff could not have been more helpful yet remained unobtrusive.

Bordeaux is a beautiful city. I would visit again and again and I would always stay at Le Palais Gallien Hotel and Spa.

🟢 The location was very convenient and easy to travel around. We parked there and then used the tramway to get around. Convenient and easy. The inside of the building looks fresh and good.

6 of us stayed for 3 nights and we were not disappointed. The rooms were well appointed & well serviced during our stay. The reception staff were excellent and were helpful.

The hotel is well located, within walking distance from the historic centre and monuments. The room was good size, cosy, quiet, well appointed and very clean, no spots, no old furniture or appliances.

Stayed 2 nights. Close to Bordeaux centre and shops. Walking distance to tram reasonable for guests with no special needs — Staff v helpful and friendly — especially Andrea at reception.

This is the best Ibis/ Ibis Styles I have ever stayed in! Modern well-equipped and close to the main station, buses and trams.

A lovely hotel; they provided free croissants and water during the day. Near train station, good location. Very clean.

Very nice hotel near the city center (15 minutes by car). The room is a bit tight but nicely decorated. There is a water station on each floor that supplies sparkling water.

Easy to find, come out of St Jean station by Halle 3 (Atlantique) side. Turn right and 5 minute walk. Very modern hotel. Don’t expect room ready early as they want you to pay extra for this.

Doesn't get better than this in Bordeaux. Or anywhere, in our view. Staff — particularly Paul — were warm and SO helpful in every way. Very attentive to my wife, who has several health issues.

Le Boutique Hotel & Spa was fabulous! The rooms were beautifully decorated and the breakfast was delicious.

Quite simply THE best location in town — easy to walk to the best restaurants/ shops. Great service in the restaurants — try the Gordon Ramsey. The rooftop bar is a bit worn out.

This cozy and charming hotel is owned by Nicolas, a very nice and gentle guy. Has only about 6 rooms, ours was very large, comfortable and beautiful.

We had a fantastic experience at La Cabane d'Ambroise. The room was spacious, spotless, and tastefully decorated, making us feel right at home.

Difficult to reach. You have to drag your luggage from the public underground car park about 500 metres away. There are actually two hotels and we arrived at the wrong one.

5 minutes walk from the train station and with the D tram stop across the road, it provided quick and easy access across the city.
